This is a beautiful, historic hall within the larger Kōfuku-ji temple complex, and it’s also one of the first places where we encountered Nara’s famous deer. They wander freely around the grounds, completely unbothered by people - it’s such a surreal sight! The temple itself is striking, with its elegant architecture and peaceful atmosphere.
Right nearby is a goshuin booth offering 9 types of temple stamps. While waiting in line for mine, I watched visitors make offerings and light incense at the adjacent shrine, which added to the sense of calm and reverence. The whole area felt alive with quiet activity - tourists, locals, and even deer all sharing the same space. Definitely a memorable stop if you’re exploring Nara Park.
