Friendly staff made sure we were comfortable, they were patient and assisted us with requests! Oceanview cottage had an incredible view and was wonderfully designed:) The resort grounds itself has tons of beautiful green vegetation, bugs as well but they provide free bug spray at rooms and the restaurant. The snorkeling in the ocean right next to the resort was amazing! The resort also provides free snorkel masks and fins. The visibility was excellent the entire week we visited and we saw a diversity of corals and hundreds of fish. We only took one day snorkel tour around Koh Tao to the popular snorkel spots and it was comparable. It can be accessed directly from the beach but it is a bit far and there is also a snorkel platform in the resort so you can enter the ocean directly closer to the corals.

Beautiful property - just keep in mind that there are quite a few stairs. The restaurant, however, is delicious and offers great value for money. The beach is truly stunning: soft sandy shore, amazing sunbeds (though they get taken quickly), and a unique stay in the treehouse villas that makes you feel like you’re in the jungle. There are also some fantastic viewpoints around the property that offer breathtaking views- definitely worth checking out! Free yoga sessions are offered right on the beach, no registration needed. With so much nature around, you shouldn’t be afraid of a few ants in the room or geckos in the bathroom- it’s all part of the experience. A special shoutout to Vicki, whose warm and friendly personality really made us smile!

The resort is pretty impressive—beautiful and relaxing. Each room is uniquely decorated and feeling relaxed.. It's private and offers stunning views of Koh Tao. The atmosphere is serene and peaceful, and the staff are wonderful, cheerful, and eager to assist.||In the room, there's organic lemongrass mosquito repellent available for use, though it may not be highly effective. If you're sensitive to mosquito bites, it's recommended to bring your own mosquito repellent. The natural environment here is quite lush, and there are some steep paths. If you're not fond of animals, insects, or long walks, this place might not be the best choice for you.

My cousins booked this place for three nights on Koh Tao. We are all avid snorkelers and divers, and we were very much looking forward to our stay here. We have traveled through all of Thailand many times over the last decade, and have been to this beautiful island many times. We always come back to Thailand, because the people are incredibly kind, and welcoming. We could not have had a more different experience here at Koh Tao Cabana Resort. ||||My cousins booked us a couple of the Tree top Villas, on line they looked beautiful and perfect for the family get away that we were planning. We wanted something overlooking the water, and close to town. ||||When we got to the resort, we saw a confrontation between a guest and what appeared to be the manager of the resort. The guest was not happy about their villa and was complaining about the mosquitoes, and some kind of stains on the bed linens and that the room was not very clean. We just kind of looked at each other, thinking maybe this gentleman/guest was a bit too high maintenance, but we waited patiently while they tried to sort things out. What we noticed though, which was alarming, was how rude the staff/manager was to this guest. They did not really listen, instead made this guest feel badly for complaining and told him that the room was "clean enough" and if "he didn't like it, he could leave." This is very unusual for Thailand, the Thai people usually don't like confrontation, so we have only seen this on a rare occasion.||||This was a very uncomfortable situation to be greeted with, one of the young Thai women working at the front desk, greeted us with a small smile, looking embarrassed and asked us to please wait by the pool and gave us a drink of juice, and a complimentary drink card. We were fine with it, we just went for a quick swim in the pool and had a beer. But the situation escalated and the guest left very upset, we passed him on the way back to the check in reception and he said, "good luck, this place is a joke!"||||We shrugged it off, thinking that was exceptional and that we would not have the same experience. We WERE WRONG! ||||Both of the Tree Top Villas we checked into were dirty, stains on the bed linens, long hair everywhere, grime and mold in the shower and the towels were a dull brown color, to top that off, there were several huge dead cockroaches right next to the bed. And the air-conditioning smelled like intense mold. Not what we expected from what appeared on line to be a nicer resort on Koh Tao. We were disappointed but we had a dive trip lined up so we had to be on our way and couldn't deal with the room situation. ||||Long story short, when we went to the manager and staff later, we explained that we were not happy with the cleanliness of our villas, that the linens were stained and that the villas smelled like a strong mold smell, cockroaches, hair etc, but the strong mold smell was intense and we could feel it in our lungs immediately. I get that it's an island and humid, but they should be on top of their air conditioners, they are crucial at a resort like this and most guests probably use them quite often when the temperatures get hot.||||We quickly realized that the guest who was complaining, was right, and not being critical. These Villas are not as clean and nice as they should be. The staff/manager are RUDE, and extremely unprofessional. We were so turned off by our experience, we lasted only one of the three nights and left early to go to another resort close by, The Haadetien Beach Resort. (highly recommend that resort over this one!) ||||This resort is a joke, like the previous guest had told us. And when we were checking out two days early, the same staff/manager was on the phone literally yelling at a guest that their reservation that they had paid for, would not be honored. We got out of there as soon as we could and had a much nicer experience. We DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS RESORT AT ALL!

Such a beautiful resort!! I am so glad that I have made the decision to stay at Koh Tao Cabana. First of all, the environment and the nature around the bungalows are just stunning. The resort staff is very helpful and kind. You can use the free shuttle service to the pier, both ways. The beach is very peaceful. I stayed at the Cottage Treetop Villa for 2 nights, booked it through Booking and it was a parter offer. It was the cheapest available villa but still very beautiful. You can borrow snorkels and call boat taxi or regular taxi via resort reception. I cannot recommend this place enough. Very very happy with my stay.

The villas are designed very unique and nice. I loved it. (we stayed in Whitesand Sala Villa) |Overall, the hotel is very beautiful with a wonderful view.|The only negative point I can mention, is the restaurant. The staffs are so rude. And we got a dish that maked us sick, and ruined our last night in Koh Tao. We passed all the noght in hospital, and cost us a lot. And when we told them about it, they didn't have any reaction! And even when we told the hotel, they didn't cover any costs and even took the rest of the restaurant money from us at a very high exchange rate.

Worth starting from a note that Koh Tao in general is not my island, having lived at Koh Samui (Melia, Santiburi) and Ko Phangan (Santhiya, Anantara) hotels Koh Tao seem like refurbished refugees camps. Most of the hotels by the beach are shabby diving resorts or hostel type of accommodation. So Cabana was on a positive side of these things. It's worn out and style is more like a cave built wooden hut. For the price of $200 p.n. it doesn't give the same feeling as 5 star resorts I mentioned. It's very simplistic and basic design puts it in a 3 star range. Staff is amazing though, very helpful and welcoming. Clean rooms, albeit it worn out facilities. I didn't even bother to take a picture of the hotel. Basically, unless you are a hard-core diver or a teenager I would not even bother with Koh Tao and it's hotels.

As an experienced traveler who has stayed in numerous hotels and resorts worldwide, this is my first time writing a review. My husband and I chose Cabana Hotel to celebrate our honeymoon, but we left extremely disappointed due to several issues: • Upon arrival, after a long journey involving flights and a ferry, we discovered there was no hot water in the shower. This problem persisted throughout our stay. • We paid extra for a room with a bathtub, but the hot water supply was insufficient, rendering it unusable. Multiple repair attempts were unsuccessful. • The air conditioning was not adjustable, leading to discomfort. • Frequent power outages disrupted our stay. • The Wi-Fi was weak and often non-functional. • Breakfast options were very limited, and the coffee was the worst we’ve had in Thailand. • Snorkeling equipment provided was defective. • The receptionist was unresponsive to our complaints, and the hotel failed to take responsibility for these issues. In summary, the high price we paid did not match the subpar experience. The hotel felt like a 3-star establishment with outdated infrastructure. Regrettably, we had to switch to another hotel during our honeymoon and cannot recommend Cabana Hotel; in fact, we advise others to avoid it.
