Koh Tao Regal Resort

I had a great 5 night stay at the Regal Resort. The location is fantastic between Sairee & Mae Haad with lots or restaurants and cafes within walking distance. The private beach is great and never too crowded. The rooms are big and staff was very friendly and reacted to all my wishes. The building is on the older side and that shows. It could for sure use some maintenance and hopefully that happens in the coming years. However this is not unusual in Koh Tao at all. For the money I paid I was very happy. Pro tip: Ask for the room 303 if you want great views!

Stayed here for 3 nights in December 2025 while island hopping south of Thailand. You're on the beach, with a great view from your room. Walkable to Maehaad and Sairee. Although we did get a bike from just outside. The room is very spacious, great balcony with an amazing view. The bed is harder than usual. No noise, great shower pressure. Pool was lovely for tanning and easy access to the sea. I would definitely stay again, but only for. night or two as the bed is harder than what I'm used to.

The beds are an absolute disaster – honestly, lying on the sand at the beach is more comfortable. The shower works only when it feels like it, and the air conditioner seems to have its own personality (and not a friendly one). The whole hotel has definitely seen better decades. Do yourself a favor and spend the extra €100 to stay at the Montra. Your back, your sleep, and your sanity will thank you.

Koh Tao Regal Resort was a wonderful place to stay during our time on the island. The resort has a lovely, authentic Thai feel, and our room was charming and comfortable. The shower was slightly on the cold side at times, but still perfectly manageable.||Breakfast was great each morning with plenty of options, and the staff were consistently friendly and helpful, making us feel very welcome throughout our stay. The resort is right on the beach, which is a huge plus, though the sunbeds are a bit on the hard side with no cushions.||The location is excellent—just a short walk from the pier and close to the nightlife, yet still peaceful enough to relax. And of course, Koh Tao itself is absolutely gorgeous, with incredible scenery and a laid-back island vibe.||Overall, a fabulous stay and a place we’d happily return to!

The room smells of mould. There is only one towel per person for showering. No pool towels, not even a towel to dry your hands. Cleanliness is obviously not a priority at this hotel. There is rubbish near the pool and it is untidy and chaotic. The shower in the room is disgusting, completely rotten and dirty. The pillow has stains, yellow stains and mould stains. The electrical appliances in the rooms, whether fridge, hairdryer or air conditioning, could have come from the rubbish tip. There is no television. Everything is very old, dirty and completely yellowed. The location is okay, but there are much nicer places on Koh Tao. Far too expensive for what is offered.

Don't let the faded paint fool you. This is a dated hotel, however we got the ocean front room and we were quite impressed! The room was huge and had a long, narrow balcony that spanned the entire room. Great views! Had new bottles of water daily. You can request them to clean the room whenever it needs. The shower did not drain well, and you cannot flush toilet paper in Thailand, but it was a great room! No t.v., but why do you need one when you have a great view! It was a short walk down the beach to the ferry pier and a short walk in the other direction to Sairee Beach, with lots of bars. The pool was very big and the water was clean. The restaurant there is not very good, but convenient.

Room is big and clean. The buiding is not new but it's confortable to stay. The location is pretty close to the pier, you can walk to 7-11, for about 5 mins away. Walk on the street at night is also feel very safe

Pros – Nice pool with a view of the ocean – Easy access to a really good beach – Beautiful restaurant right in front of the beach Cons – The place is very run-down – Needs many updates – Several things are broken or dirty – Sheets and pillowcases had holes and stains – Shower was rusted – The employee who received us saw us struggling with heavy bags and didn’t offer help, and the walk to the third floor was long with many stairs. She just kept waiting for us as we struggled. Overall – For the time we went, it was decent, but it definitely needs major updates.
