As a long-time Kohl’s cardholder and frequent visitor, I’ve grown accustomed to the wide variety of sales, offers, and the overall shopping experience that Kohl’s is known for. However, my recent visit to this particular Kohl’s location left me with mixed feelings, highlighting both the positives and some areas of concern. Empty Store, Ample Parking One of the first things I noticed upon arriving was how empty the store seemed. The parking lot had only four or five cars, providing plenty of space but signaling that the store wasn’t seeing much foot traffic. This could be seen as a plus for those who enjoy a quieter shopping experience, but it also raised questions about the store’s popularity and customer engagement. While an empty store might offer a more peaceful shopping environment, it also hints at a potential decline in patronage. Sales and Promotions: Beach Attire on Sale As expected, Kohl’s continues to offer a range of sales and promotions, with beach attire, including beach shorts, shirts, and swim trunks, prominently on display. The seasonal discounts are appealing, especially for those looking to snag a deal on summer essentials. However, the sparse number of customers made the shopping experience feel somewhat lackluster, as part of the excitement of sales is often the shared experience of discovering bargains alongside other shoppers. Kohl’s Credit Card Push: A Persistent Pattern One aspect of the Kohl’s shopping experience that I’ve noticed consistently, and again during this visit, is the persistent push to sign up for a Kohl’s credit card. The staff, while friendly and helpful, often seem more focused on promoting the Kohl’s credit card than on assisting with other inquiries. This push can feel a bit overbearing, especially when it happens before addressing the customer’s actual needs. It leads me to believe that Kohl’s associates might receive a significant commission or incentive for each credit card signup, which could explain the eagerness. While having a Kohl’s card can indeed offer benefits, the aggressive promotion can sometimes detract from the overall shopping experience. Shopping Experience: Convenient but Limited Despite the store’s emptiness and the push for credit card signups, there are still many positives. The store’s proximity makes it a convenient choice, and the availability of the Kohl’s app enhances the shopping experience by providing timely notifications about sales and Kohl’s Cash offers. However, a notable downside is the limited validity of Kohl’s Cash, which typically expires within a week or so. This short window can be inconvenient for shoppers who might not be able to return to the store within that timeframe. Friendly Staff and Quick Checkout On a positive note, the checkout process was swift, with very short lines, if any at all. The staff, despite their focus on promoting the Kohl’s credit card, were friendly and courteous. This is a consistent feature of Kohl’s stores that I’ve always appreciated, and it was evident during this visit as well. Final Thoughts: A Good Store with Room for Improvement In conclusion, this Kohl’s store offers a good shopping experience, particularly if you’re looking for seasonal sales and enjoy a quieter atmosphere. However, the aggressive promotion of the Kohl’s credit card can be off-putting, and the low foot traffic may indicate a need for the store to find new ways to engage customers. For long-time Kohl’s shoppers like myself, the experience remains reliable, but there’s certainly room for improvement, especially in terms of balancing sales promotions with customer service.

Normally, shopping at Kohl’s is enjoyable, but this visit was extremely disappointing. After selecting items from markdown tables, I asked the cashier to confirm their sale prices, but she responded rudely and dismissively, refusing to check further. None of the items rang up as discounted, and when I requested a refund, she rolled her eyes and directed me to customer service, claiming she couldn’t process it herself. Her unprofessionalism and attitude made the experience frustrating and left a very negative impression of the store.

The lady, Rachael, at the checkout was very friendly and helpful. Took the time to help me sign up for a Kohls card and the rewards program. Got me checked out quickly after getting my approval for me. Thank you so much!

I had the best experience today at the Gainesville, FL Kohl's store(#1242). In part because of two employees: Kate and Paula. I found Kate in the women's section - she was super helpful in finding me some shirts in different sizes. She had a big smile and, a warm personality and was happy to help. I never see that kind of attitude in retail anymore! And I found Paula at checkout. Again, another employee with a friendly attitude, a big smile, and a warm personality. She genuinely seemed to like being there and helping people. Whoever is hiring people at this location is doing a great job. I'll be back.

Was not impressed by because I'm assuming the way I was dressed I was followed around the store I had to dress in sweat pants and shirt for a procedure I was having done at the hospital later on that day so I'm assuming because I had baggy clothing on I was thought of going to steal which was very comical to me but at least the person that worked there and following me could of said hi how is your day can I help you find something..needless to say I will find another store to shop in the next time I am in Gainesville. But despite how I was treated I still purchased 45$ worth of product but will not go back.

Staff is friendly and accommodating. Jill helped me signed up and explained the rewards system of the Kohl's App. Definitely will come back for the good deals.

I really like the atmosphere at Kohl’s, and I hope it can continue. Even though it’s not in a busy location and not many people pass by, the store feels warm and comfortable. I have a question: why is there no option for Amazon returns at Kohl’s anymore? Has it permanently closed? I hope this store can stay open for a long time and that Amazon returns can bring positive impact to it.

Purchased 2 sweaters on black friday- but the cashier left this thing on it, so I have to go back and have it taken off. Other than that- love the sweaters!

Kohl's is my absolute favorite department store. They have great variety, good products, and amazing customer service. Just recently had an item break, went to the customer service desk, and was able to exchange it for a new item. The lines are never too long, and the staff is always very helpful. PS- if you have not done so sign up for their emails, and you will always save 20-30% more, even on top of clearance pricing.

I love Kohl's but should not go here! I spend way to much money! The Gainesville location is great! But they need more staff members. I wish they had a few more people working. Was in on this past Saturday and they only had 2 cash registers open and had the line super long. Wish they had more help especially around the holidays! Overall a great store!

There's not a whole lot in the way of clothing here that I fancy, but I suppose if you're looking for what they carry, they do have better prices in general than elsewhere. More or less, if it is a brand that JC Penney's carries, Kohl's also probably has it. The few things I shop for here include: Levi's jeans, Converse sneakers, Champion bball shorts, Yankee Candles, and bed-linens. They do have good prices, the store is clean (well, in Gainesville it's nearly brand new, too), and the staff is helpful and prompt. However, at least in young men's clothing, they seen to carry a lot of off-brands like "Helix" which they always have an overstock of since it seems to not really sell too well. --They do not carry half-sizes in Converse sneakers, which is a problem for me. --They DO carry Levi's 510 super-skinny jeans and are the only store in town aside from PacSun which have these britches. All in all, it's like a second Penney's, really: check on specific items for which of the two has the better deal of the week.

There's plenty of Kohl's throughout the US but the one at home in Gainesville is superior to most of them! I will say that there is nothing out of the ordinary of this Kohl's. It carries a similar collection to most other Kohl's I've ever seen; however, in this fairly large store is all the Gainesville charm you should come to expect. First of all the store is clean as a whistle. No unsorted clothing, or unmopped floors here! Normally with such an abnormally clean store you'd think that not many people come to this store. Sure it doesn't get the hustle and bustle like most stores would in Orlando, but that's because the people that do shop here are kind and authentic locals. I rarely find students at Kohl's, which is a nice contrast to densely student populated Oak's mall. Finally whenever I come here I am always guaranteed a smile and a cashier who really goes the extra mile. Numerous times I've been reminded that there is a current promo occurring, and I've never had a hassle returning clothing. Kohl's has one of the best return policies in the US! All in all this store goes above and beyond at making you feel home and saving you money.

It's a nice store. They were having a Christmas clearance sale when I was there. I got a ton of items for a huge discount. They were in stock on anything I needed and customer service was great. Clean store, organized and clean bathrooms. I like that they are open later than most stores.

Kohls Online 30 minute policy is CRAZY! After you place an order you have 30 minutes to make any changes. If you don't make them within 30 minutes they will send your items to the wrong address and tell you too bad. They don't have any solution to correct the issue after 30 minutes. I have ordered from Kohl's many times but this one time (5 pairs of shoes) my order was accidently sent to a 11 year old address. Even though I got to part of the order before the delivery, they said "Sorry Sir, it has to be done within 30 minutes". They said I now have to pay for something that I NEVER GOT! No way to fix it.

They have lots of good sales. The staff is helpful but not pushy. I can usually find what I need there and they have good parking which can be rare in that area.

Great return policy. I bought a set of dishes that was missing a large plate and the exchanged it no questions asked. My mom bought them for me as a house warming gift and I was surprised to only find 3 large plates. The lady at the customer service desk was very helpful and let me exchange them. Kohl's is very large and sells all kinds of stuff from home furnishing to clothes. It stays open until 10 and the one here in Gainesville was very empty. I would say I was one of 3 people there shopping. I also found a nice shower curtain on sale for $6. They offer all kinds of sales and a lot of buy one get one %50 off. Overall I enjoy this department store and I think it is also a bonus that they are stand alone stores and you do not have to deal with a mall.

They are a huge store with cloths bedding and kitchen items but they are very coupon orientated which is fine for shoppers but I like to get a couple outfits once or twice a year and they always have a deal you have to use two weekends later or you don't get any savings so for people who have a life this just doesn't work. I want fair prices everyday not 75% off jeans two weeks after I paid full price for what i needed.

This has been my go to store when I need clothing, toys, home decor etc. I do believe I am one of their best customers ha:) The store is always spotless (even the bathrooms here) and well organized. I agree with the other reviewer that said they have the best return policy in the US. That is one of the reasons I like to come here, they never hassle you and can look it up on card if you don't have your receipt. Some of the times I come in to shop there is only a few people in the store, again I agree with the other reviewer. Though they can get busy during holidays and weekends. The prices are great and they always have some kind of coupons I get in the mail or they have at counter to add to the order so I wind up getting great deals. The staff are always helpful,friendly and genuinely seem like they care. Props to Kohls for a job well done!

I've shopped at Kohls for numerous years since it opened and all of the products I've purchased here have fallen apart either immediately or soon after. I am an extremely gentle person overall, and I take great care of my belongings. Some of the things I've purchased include: -Graphic T-Shirt in which the threading came loose after the very first wash before even wearing it (on gentle cycle). -Fila shoes that starting peeling apart at the seams near the tip after just 3 months (on both shoes; reviews on the Kohl's website showed there were other customers with similar issues). -Arrow brand dress shirt in which the seams under the buttons starting becoming undone after the first wash (on gentle cycle). It basically looked like an explosion of threads. -Dockers slacks with a similar "explosion" of threads in both back pockets after a wash on the gentle cycle. This one lasted 3 wears, which is three times as long as any of the previous items have lasted, which I suppose for Kohl's is impressive. Perhaps I'm just REALLY unlucky and every purchase at Kohl's just happened to be a dud, but there really is no excuse when clothing from any other store (even low-quality Wal-mart brands) have lasted over half a decade without incident. I can't speak for the quality of other Kohl's in the nation, but from my experience, the one in Gainesville seems very fishy. With the quality of product I've experienced, I wouldn't be surprised if they carry cheap, defected items that other retailers wouldn't dare sell.

The staff that I dealt with was very rude, and not helpful at all. They did not offer any assistance, and when asked for help, they did not bother to go out of their way to assist. I was very disappointed after I heard they were very nice and helpful. When I buy from kohl's it will be online.
