Koi

Koi is absolutely fantastic! Clean, great atmosphere and the food was wonderful. Service was excellent too! If you want great sushi definitely give them a try!

What a beautiful restaurant this is. Just as we are leaving Missouri, this beautiful state finds a way to say goodbye to us by giving us one more experience nestled in this little town called Rolla. Accidentally we stopped our drive to let some storms pass through. We Googled for food and Walah... KOI pops up as a suggestion. It appeared to be a slow day for them since the Hibachi bar was not operating but we were invited to a table. The table was near the bathroom entrance but that was no problem at all. They had a nice divider (see pictures) that allowed the buffer area so as to not feel like we got the bad table nor do people coming out feel uncomfortable. The restaurant is beautifully designed. Everywhere you look you can see the Japanese touch in the decor but done right. Not overwhelming. The bathrooms for me were the most beautiful I have seen in a long time! I love the dark colors. It is relaxing. My only problem was not having access to paper towels just so I can open the door after washing my hands. Especially for men. Men on average do not wash their hands after using #1. That's a fact, so.. the door handle is always dirty anyway. Please please add paper towels. Back at the table, our food arrived smelling amazing. My daughter's tofu was especially good. We also had sushi, also great! I would love to go again on our way back to visit Missouri stop by and get the full experience at the hibachi bar. Places like this are hard to come by nowadays since people put a price on time over quality of food so, more and more fast food places overtake real quality restaurants. Please continue offering your awesome food and keep on offering the experience!!

Ordered take out after work and got the salmon roe and the sashimi entree. I was so excited to see actual salmon roe on the menu and not just masago or tobiko. The last time I had good salmon roe was when I was working in Ketchikan. 10/10 for bringing me back to some fond memories and great food.

Koi is always a must-stop for me whenever I’m in town from Oklahoma. Their sushi is consistently fresh and delicious, and the quality never disappoints. One of my go-to orders is the hibachi dinner with a side of scallops—it’s always cooked perfectly and full of flavor. The food, service, and atmosphere make every visit worth it. Highly recommend!

Food was good and came out quick but just a bit cold. Was hoping for a hibachi chef but that doesn’t happen during the day and be forewarned there are only two small table side grills. Also our waiter was a trip. Go see him.

Food was okay. Love the environment. We didn't like the service at all. We were sat to the table and was waited for over 10 mins. None of the workers check up on us until, we decided to leave. To make worse, the person that served us gave us attitude. We don't appreciate that.

First time here - great experience! We ordered the Godzilla Roll and the Romance Roll - both were beautifully presented.The flavors and textures of the Godzilla complimented perfectly- with White fish, cream cheese, avocado, and smoked salmon inside, the crunchy spicy tuna on top delivers layers of flavor. The Romantic with its spicy scallop, kani, avocado, and tobiko wrapped with soy bean paper surprises the taste buds with wonderful flavors. We can’t wait to go back and try something else! Isabelle our server, was very friendly and helpful with menu questions. The atmosphere was welcoming and clean. Plenty of parking.

We will miss Koi. It has been wonderful to us over the past two years. Food is always fresh and great quality for the money. We once did the love boat to split with my wife and I. Seafood was excellent and presented beautifully. We have also done delivery and take out many times. Always have been on point.

Came here for dinner with a friend. We did the sushi for two and it came in a boat! The presentation was pretty but I had wished we could pick our own sushi rolls. They put the less than desirable kinds. The rainbow roll was decent as well as the spicy tuna. The eel roll did not look appetizing and my friend said it was extremely fishy. We also had a couple of appetizers, edamame & gyoza. I would probably go back here to try the hibachi, but would probably skip the sushi.

Food was good. I was sad that I could not have the traditional hibachi experience as they don't do the grill on Sunday. Th food and service was still great. Definitely worth it.

This was our first time to this restaurant. It was actually much prettier inside than I'd expected and may have the most tasteful and contemporary decor of any place I've seen in Rolla. We enjoyed our sushi rolls and the chicken and vegetable tempura seemed fresh and tasty. We got prompt service and ended our meal with banana tempura, something I'd had in my childhood but haven't seen in decades. For us it was a five star meal!

It's okay. The food is alright but I found the price tag is too high for what you get. I paid almost $40 for a plate of salmon I could make at home and a cup of house sake... not bad food, but not worth that much! I went with a group, and they asked us to leave before we were even there an hour, which I didn't appreciate. Busy or not, if you have a group of paying customers and you're a sit-down restaurant, you shouldn't be asking them to get out that fast!

I gave two stars, as the bad outweighed the good... enough that we won't be back. TL;DR: very poor quality food, but good atmosphere and employees Positives: - good atmosphere and decor inside - we were greeted promptly by a very friendly hostess - we ordered to-go and only had to wait 15 mins - bathroom was tidy - pretty to-go dishes Negatives: - the food is expensive for what you get - the rolls are small - sushi rolls of poor quality - the sushi quality is no better than grocery store sushi - in fact, I've had better at the grocery store - the taste is bland - the teriyaki chicken produced indigestion by those who ate it

Every few months or so we stop in at Koi Roll for sushi in Rolla. Sometimes more often. They may have the best selection in Rolla, and their fish always seems fresh. Love the sushi and sashimi. Lately we've been in for dinner a couple of times and the sushi guy behind the counter seems to go above and beyond to create beautiful plates to enjoy.

Found this place on the list the hotel gave us and absolutely loved it. We loved it so much we went twice! The customer service was great, they were so kind and friendly. The food came out hot and fresh. Very clean and quiet ambiance.

My husband and I tried this for lunch one day. The staff was really nice and our waiter was really funny! We got our food pretty quick, but of course there wasn't a lot of people there due to the time. I personally wasn't a big fan of the appetizer (shumai) but my husband tore them up!! I got the fantasy Roll and it was pretty good! The soup and salad were really good too! My husband got the chicken and steak hibachi dinner. I wasn't a huge fan of the steak but again he thought it was really good. Over all it was a really good experience and will def be going back!

I travel all over the US for business and get to dine in some amazing restaurants. This was not one of those experiences. First, let's talk about the service; we were seated fairly quickly but waited a long time before ordering. When we placed the order, the waitress had to ask two people about substituting a combination meal. It took 5-10 minutes before the waitress came back to finish taking the order. The waitress didn't check on us during the meal. Instead of continuing to wait for her to bring the check, we went to the counter to get the check. Now, about the food: 1) The wasabi was dry. 2) The sushi was mediocre and had a funky taste. 3) I found something that looked like fish skin in one of the rolls. I showed it to the manager who claimed it was seaweed...I've had plenty of seaweed but have never had some that was squishy and chewy like this. 4) The soup and salad, part of the combination meal, never came. Open during Covid but the tables aren't very far apart. Overall, this place is awful. Leaving this review as a reminder to myself to not go back. ‍

Ehh. Most the staff is friendly, some are quiet, awkward and likely haven't been in the service industry very long and that's okay but it does hinder the experience. I ordered the filet and it wasn't cooked how I had asked, also this odd sauce was put on literally everything didn't matter what it was. All the people I was with had ordered something different but all had the same sauce, very odd. Service was also not very attentive. We got our drinks quickly but were not asked about refills until we were done eating so we went most the time with empty glasses. Location is convenient and the place seems to stay busy so they seem to be well liked in the area. I'm from California and had this place been in my area I'd give it a 1 star and be a little more harsh with my review, but I know the people in MO don't have the options I do and also don't have a pallet like myself so I take that into consideration. Keep up the hard work, I'm rooting for you guys!

Our favorite roll was the Koi roll! Great sushi and a fun waiter. Thanks for a great meal for our family celebration.

This place has cute decor. Staff was a little hard to understand. I ordered 2 unagi, 2 escolar, 2 smoked salmon: I really enjoyed these pieces. These are my top 3 I normally order. They had just the right amount of rice. I have not been to a place that complimented the fillet of fish over the rice. Avocado handroll: I just love avocados! Koi roll: This was a specialty roll named after the venue. So I had to try it!. It was very tasty! A bit expensive $15.85 I think just for this roll alone. I will be back but maybe after Christmas bonus lol.

Looking for something unique on a graduation weekend for lunch - we tried Koi Roll. I wish we would have tried this place earlier - it was a great choice! We had the teriyaki lunch special, tempura vegetable appetizers and it was tasty and a spot hitter!

It is a delicious place to eat if like Japanese steak house restaurants. The have hibachi on the menu and sushi as well.

the waitress was nice. but the food was trash. the gyoza was the only item that i would try again. we had the teriyaki chicken the meat was horrible. like it was boiled and had a weird texture. the steak wasn't cooked right. the sushi was dry. we complained and the manager wouldnt even come over. we still had to pay for the teriyaki even though my husband only had one bite. I wouldn't waste your money coming here

I just got take out from this place about 30 min ago. My wife and I weren't expecting much due to previous reviews but due to covid our options were very limited. I wasn't expecting to get so ripped off as to get 4 pieces of shrimp and 9 1/2 pieces of steak with icky brown water soup. The food was lacked flavor to cost 13$ for the meal, if I had known what I was going to get I would have maybe paid 5$. I could get better / more food for less money at a Asian place in a mall's food court then I did here. I will not give this place my business nor would I recommend this to anybody.

Wonderful service! Fast and delicious food. Drinks were kept topped off and servers were very friendly! Definitely recommend!

Came here with a group of 16 excited and happy to enjoy a nice Hibachi meal cook for us traditional. Unfortunately not once did they mention them not cooking on the hot tops. We were all disappointed when the food started to come out and no chef in sight. At no moment did they inform us that it would be food coming out from the kitchen. I came here to pay the price of a Hibachi experience and food. The quality was horrible my food was cold and literally seemed that it was just warmed up enogh t to put on a plate. Yeah don't waste your money coming here and then they have the nerve to confront you because you did t want to leave a Tip! Like really! Wow. Worst experience ever and I feel robbed. $50 dollars for food that was microwaved yuck! I only gave it a 5star to make sure it's posted and at the top of the reviews.

The staff here was friendly, and the prices seemed good. Unfortunately it's got that very fishy taste that you don't want in your sushi. Perhaps I had come at a bad time, but when I am treating friends to a dinner and paying full price, the quality should not be compromised.

Admittedly I was dubious of a sushi place in Rolla, Missouri. Thus far in the trip, I had eaten a fair share of biscuits and BBQ, so I wasn't sure that Japanese cuisine was a good idea. I am SO glad to be wrong! Koi Roll is a great restaurant with super nice staff. I saw and tried items that I've never seen on a hibachi menu. The miso soup is yummy, and has way more vegetables than I am used to seeing in miso soup. The shrimp appetizer that accompanies the meals was a really classy touch. For dinner I ordered calamari and fried noodles (my first time on the flat top for both). The food was very well prepared and we had a lot of fun at the table with other customers. Granted, we were just about the only ones using chopsticks to eat, but I can look past that. Fortunately my husband is studying at Missouri S&T, so we will likely find our way back here again. I can't wait!

Service: Amazing, very friendly, very nice Food: soup was bussin, food was poppin, I wasn't a fan of the sushi tho. The fish was just over powering. The cheesecake I had kinda tastes like popcorn. Overall: This is an okay restaurant. It's nothing great but nothing bad. Average food, good service, and a little pricy but overall it was an okay experience.

Excellent choice. Great atmosphere. The waitress was pleasant, the cook was great. The whole crew had a great time. Food was fresh, tasted amazing. The scallops were tender, steak cooked to perfection! A+ to the cook. Waitress was on top of keep drinks full. I recommend. We had a party of 8- served fast and accurate!

There's nothing I didn't love so far! My favorites are Super Crunchy, Shuree and Philadelphia Roll as well as Gyoza for appetizer! However, everything is very pricey!

My family and I... we stop by here , to eat, after our rock/spring adventure at Elephant rock. Great place to eat! Love the atmosphere of the place with the Jazz music. It was great.

I dropped in for dinner and had an excellent platter of sushi. The surprise seaweed and cucumber starter was an excellent compliment to the salad. The fish and tuna roll were great and the spicy sauce on the side was a zesty addition to the sushi.

We enjoyed our meal here. Pleasant atmosphere and prompt service. Both of us had the tempura noodle bowls. The soup bowls were quite large, filled with fat udon, and the tempura shrimp and veggies were served on the side - so they were nicely crisp, rather than piled on top of the soup to 'sog up'. The soup was steaming hot, and nicely flavored. It was served with a fork! and soup spoon - so we had to ask for chop sticks (the easiest way to slurp up noodles!) Though we didn't have sushi, diners' plates nearby looked good and sushi appeared freshly prepared. My only complaint was about the little salad that was served - just lettuce with a bit to much mayonaise-y dressing. Not a big deal, but a few shreds of carrot and a leaf or two of other lettuce types would be nice. Will dine there again when we want 'soup noodle'.

This is a high class place; there shouldn't be loud junk playing on the speaker system. Instrumental music (classical, Japanese) would be way more appropriate. The food receives a THUMBS DOWN The best item was the Crab Rangoon and they weren't that good; tasted like out of the grocery freezer. My main course featured burnt chicken and rubber peas. My husband's main course featured overcooked udon noodles and rubber shrimp. It was definitely NOT worth the $30.90 we paid for it.

Good sushi, I got the AK 47 roll and a Philadelphia roll! I had some of my brother's hibachi shrimp and noodles, very good too. The noodles are softer than I expected and were surprisingly good. A man at our hibachi table had a birthday so our hostess and chef brought out a cute plate with an ice cream dish, a candle, and a cute drawing done in sauce. We all sang a happy birthday song and the chef was hitting a small drum. Very cute!

We recently went here for the first time when our other favorite sushi place was closed. Pur only experience from this place prior was once i ordered Crab Rangoon because i really wanted some. But I wasn't impressed (I'll talk more on that below) It's a little more pricey, but honestly the food is really good. I got a dragon roll and it was probably one of the best rolls I've ever had. They have giant (and I mean GIANT) soups for a pretty fair price. From what the rest of the menu was priced we thought the soup that would be getting is going to be some tiny little soup. But in reality the soup could have very well been our entire meal with how big it was. On the other hand the salad was not very big at all, definitely more of a side salad portion but regardless it was pretty good. Of course the miso soup was good and the rest of our appetizers were pretty good as well. Definitely worth a try! The only reason why I chose to leave off a star was just because 2 things * our server wasn't very attentive. She showed up to give us our food and didn't really check In on us or anything. By no means was she a bad server. But we did have to end up asking a completely different server for a box and such because she never came back. The server we had however was very nice. * Their crab rangoons aren't very good. I love Crab Rangoons, I have since I was a kid. The ones I got from here I couldn't even eat. They were so oily you could literally see the separated oil sitting on top of the filling. It was very unpleasant. The other apps I've had from there have all been good though!

Absolutely love the environment of this restaurant. Very clean and sets a great overall mood. This is my second time eating here and i have been very impressed both times. Would 100% recommend eating here if you have time.

If you're gonna order it to go do not pay until the food arrives. They will want you to pay as soon as you get there however I waited for over an hour to get my food that was ordered an hour before I arrived. Do not pay until you receive your order

The place inside is cute, better than other restaurants in this area. Staffs are great, very friendly. Good for people that go on a date too because inside is very nice place kinda romantic especially couples that loves sushi like us they were very accommodating. Kinda pricey so we only come here for our date lol. They served me with very small ginger for sushi but i asked more and they gave me more. I ordered tempura udon with egg and i love it because it's a big bowl and I didn't expect that. I love udon so it's a big thumbs up for me especially how cold it is in here The only thing i hated was the part i drank water and there's a fly on it i asked the lady and she changed it and i hope she didn't use the same glass. Lol. And their soda in machine is kinda different taste. We ordered Pepsi but it's kinda like dr. Pepper which is they don't have it cuz i asked for it just to make sure we got the Pepsi right. But i would still come back when we go back to that area for sushi rolls and udon

It's a break from the endless fast-food restaurants nearby but the food and service isn't the greatest. I highly recommend keeping your receipt as I found out the hard way when my payment posted with some disparities. After a quick call, we were able to come to a mutual agreement respectfully. Additional parking is a little tight especially if you own a large vechile as well as the seating is cramped. If you're not interested in the hibachi experience plan on getting it any ways, plus the poor ventilation that goes along with it.

Bad experience: The service is bad, the waitress forgot my food, and I ordered teriyaki chicken, on the menu it says it includes rice, soup and salad. Later when I ask where my soup was they told me the menu is wrong, I can only choose one. Really? How about you say the whole menu is wrong, and you only get a bowl of rice instead? Oh and its a tiny bowl of rice, no refill. Oh what else, they circled the tip portion on my check, if you want better tip then fix your problem first. The is my first time eating here, and it is also my last time.

This place is ok. The restaurant was clean and chef put on a good show. This is the only reason I'm leaving three stars. I wasn't impressed with the waitress and the food was ok. I ordered steak and it was cooked just like I requested it. It just lacked flavor or maybe too much teriyaki sauce. The fried rice was ok. We also ordered sushi but wasn't impressed. It was dry and lacked flavor. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this restaurant unless you visited for lunch during the week.

One of our favorite date night spots! Food is always great! Such friendly employees. And it's so much fun to watch them on the grill, they put on a show!

I love koi sushi it's one of my favorite sushi places in rolla. I get the Las Vegas roll or the omega roll. But really you can't go wrong.

This is our go-to place for sushi and hibachi in Rolla. We tried their sushi first and the variety of rolls is awesome! The specialty rolls are excellent. We went for the hibachi next time and that was also very nicely done and the chefs make it a good time. Overall great place. The service gets slow when it's busier.

Terrible Japanese Hibachi grill and sushi. Obviously the locals have not been to a really good japanese hibachi and seemed to enjoy being insulted, having water sprayed in their faces and food flung at them while being addressed as "mama" from the staff. The floor is then littered with pieces of zucchini that never made it in to some poor saps mouth. They don't offer brewed tea, instead you receive a cheap green tea bag in a mug of hot water. The table tops, walls and just about everything you see and touch is full of greasy and dirty finger prints. The sushi wasn't bad and the ingredients seemed fresh. The miso soup and udon noodles are very ordinary. Nothing to write home about. I would not recommend this restaurant.

Oddly, Rolla has a number of Japanese restaurants. I believe Koi is the only hibachi in town which gives them a niche. The hibachi chefs seemed a little over the top so my friend and I sat down for some sushi. The service was decent. It was our waitress' first night and she obviously had no experience with sushi. To be fair, we should have sat the sushi bar because we were discerning in our ordering. Fortunately, the manager was able to answer our questions for us. The sushi was entirely unexceptional. We had a house special roll and the sashimi deluxe. The fish seemed fresh but oddly bland.

My family and I decided on Koi at last minute. Visiting Rolla from FLW, we just wanted to snag something to eat. Unfortunately, the hibachi part was not open, the food was absolutely amazing! From the sushi to the steak! Definitely recommend!!

My mom and I stopped in at Koi for lunch as we were going through Rolla. She's not a sushi fan, so she got the steak and shrimp hibachi (roughly $18). I ordered a godzilla roll ($13) and a California roll ($4.50). First of all, her noodles were terribly overcooked and total mush, so she didn't eat them. The shrimp tasted freezer-burned or like something was definitely wrong with it. Steak and vegetables were okay but not wonderful. As a side note, my mom isn't a picky eater at all and refused to send it back or even let the waitress know there was a problem, but she was disgusted. My godzilla roll was tiny (the same size as the small California roll), and really unsturdy. It totally fell apart when you picked it up with chopsticks. Flavor just did not taste fresh. I've ate at many sushi restaurants and I was just so disappointed. With a tip, this ended up being over $50 and we both left unsatisfied and a little grossed out by the poor quality of the food. To make matters worse, we both ended up really ill a few hours later and it lasted roughly 3 days. Needless to say, we will avoid in the future.

Obviously the focus is on the hibachi, but the real star of the show here is the sushi. Easily dozens of roll options, lots of specialty rolls. Shared a few and they were all killer. The hibachi grill is a little substandard or I would have given 4 stars.

Staff was rude, food was sub par and there were unmasked employees. The food was barely edible. Every appetizer came with a sweet chili sauce. No tepan for the tempura. No age dashi sauce for the fried tofu. That is the laziest blah sauce and not remotely Japanese. It's literally sugar and Indonesian chili paste. Sea food smelled dirty. I certainly wouldn't trust the chefs after my interaction with the rest of the staff, management obviously has a terrible eye for hiring. Just go to another sushi place. I wouldn't be surprised if this place gets shut down

Best sushi in Rolla! It's always my go-to for a special occasion. The hibachi is high-quality as well, but it's the sushi that keeps bringing me back!
