A nice place to visit, from where you can see the full city panorama. You can go up to the top of the hill with the gondola cableway, by car, or by walk. We took the gondola one way up from the city, but came down in nice relaxing walk. On the weekends the place is packed with locals with kids and tourists alike, which makes the place super crowded, non the less, its a nice place from where you can see a spectacular sunset over Almaty with the mountains in the background.

Kok Tobe is a fun and scenic spot in Almaty! The view over the city from the top is amazing, especially at sunset. You can take the cable car up, which is a nice ride, or go by car. There are cafes, souvenir shops, and even a small amusement park it’s great for a chill walk or a date. Clean, well maintained, and worth a visit!

Kok Tobe has its charm — with cafes, music, and kids’ attractions — it’s a bit livelier than we expected. The atmosphere is more “family outing” than “quiet retreat,” with a touch of noise and activity around. If you’re after true tranquility and deeper connection with nature, you might need to wander a bit further from the main area.

Bought a return ticket bus ride up to Kok Tobe . There is an amusement park with cafes up on this hill . Great place to take photos of Tian Shan and of the city . A bit disappointed that the cable car was not in service during our trip in Almaty .

We went up by car 🚗 through yandex app although there is a cable car as well. KokTobe Hill is a popular tourist attraction in Almaty. It’s a small mountain in Almaty offer beautiful view and a tv tower..there is a scam they were no allowing taxi car to pick up,car is cheaper but they want to use cable car 🚠

Though it’s open during winter, there is nothing much to do as some shops and sections of the amusement areas/ attractions are closed. According to my tour guide, most attractions are closed during the cold months especially peak winter season. And the Almaty city view from Kok Tobe, during the day, was not pleasant to look at during winter – smog covers much of the city and obstructs what should have been a good view. You can however see the very beautiful Tien Shan mountain range, but again the smog covers most of the city’s skies. Such a bummer. You can see for yourself in my pictures in this review. According to my guide, smog during winter is a perennial problem because “weather inversion”. This phenomenon traps polluted air in Almaty, due to its very close proximity to the Tien Shan mountain range. The only highlights I can think of are the well-maintained cable cars + cable car ride wherein you can see up-close some of the affluent residential areas of Almaty (viewing the areas from the cable car), the mini-zoo including some rare animals, weird but incredible attractions like the upside down house (complete with an upside down car!) + the Beatles statue. Overall, because of the very few attractions which are open during winter and the smog covering the whole city that obstructs the view, my overall score is a 3. Should I have the opportunity again to visit Almaty during the warmer months and see for myself the available attractions, I may revise my rating and may give Kok Tobe a higher score, as I really love the city of Almaty :)

It's more of a hill with some rides for kids. We skipped the cable car route n went through the bus route. Glad we did that bze that saved us some money and honestly, didn't enjoy it much.

It was just a magic experience for us to visit kok tobe. Panoramic view of almaty city was a dream come true, it has a lot and lot of kids play , and different types of children activities. Children will enjoy a lot at the place, also many different food options. Must visit in Almaty during winter
