On the Grid : Koko Wings

"Koko Wings has been an amazing addition to the UWS since one of my guilty pleasures is Korean Fried Chicken. No longer do I have to venture down to Korea Town now! Their chicken is pretty solid with all the usual Korean sides like seafood pancakes, kimchi, bibimbap etc. They do delivery but their actual restaurant is actually pretty cozy and nice to dine in as well. They have Korean beer and nightly specials as well!" - Ken Pao

Koko is the best spot on the upper west side for wings! Their chicken is delicious and tastes very high quality. The staff is also very kind and immediately made me feel welcome — they even gave me some miso soup to try which was so above and beyond :) Highly recommend!

Google
If you’re on the hunt for mouthwatering wings and seriously addictive buldak, this spot is a must. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere hits you—chill, vibey, and full of energy without being too loud. Perfect for a night out with friends or a casual dinner that turns into a full-on flavor experience. The wings? Unreal. Crispy on the outside, juicy inside, and coated in sauces that pack both heat and flavor. The buldak was next level—spicy, cheesy, and perfectly balanced. It had that fiery kick you crave but didn’t overpower the dish. Service was on point too. Super friendly staff who actually seem like they enjoy being there, which adds to the whole vibe. If you’re into bold flavors, good vibes, and a place that doesn’t miss on quality, do yourself a favor and check this place out. It’s the kind of spot you’ll keep coming back to.

Some of the best Korean fried chicken I’ve ever eaten. We got the 16 pc strips: they were crispy but not heavily breaded and were piping fresh. The soy garlic is delicious while the spicy is hot but is flavourful and not overwhelming. The octopus balls were pretty good too. Great service from the workers. Highly recommended!

Google
What an amazing dining experience! The food was absolutely delicious—crispy, flavorful Korean fried chicken cooked to perfection with the perfect balance of sauces and garnishes. The side dishes, like the rice and slaw, complemented the meal beautifully. The drinks were a standout! Vibrant, refreshing, and topped with freeze-dried strawberries, they were as stunning as they were tasty. The blue and yellow hues made them pop and added a playful touch to the experience. Each sip was a treat, perfectly paired with the meal. The atmosphere was inviting, and the staff was friendly and attentive, making sure everything was just right. I can't recommend this place enough! Definitely planning to return for another round of amazing flavors and fun vibes.

Google
Awesome place with great chicken. Super reasonable prices especially for the drinks. Garlic and soy was definitely my favorite flavor. Would come back!

Google
wings 10/10: made to order, super fresh and crisp, the hot spicy was very spicy which was fantastic and soy garlic was great spicy pork bulgogi 7/10: it was good but not great

Google
Pleasantly surprised by the food! I got the bulgogi soup, which was fragrant and hearty - perfect for a rainy day. The meal came with a cup of miso soup too, which was good. Judging by the other reviews, I'll have to try the fried chicken next time, too.

The food and the atmosphere here are amazing. The staffs are nice too. I got half&half chicken hot honey with soy garlic and jaeyook. Highly recommend!!

Yelp
I go KoKo for KoKo wings! Best Korean fried chicken in the UES! HIGHLY recommend. I've ordered from here too many times to count.

Yelp
A standard hole in the wall fried chicken joint. It's good for students and people looking to grab a quick bite. The staff were kind but seemed to forget about our presence a few times while we were there. Everything at the restaurant was a bit sticky (menus, floors, tables, etc.), but perhaps part of this was because we took over another party's table before someone was able to step in and clean the area. The food itself was alright. The soy garlic sauce was sweet but not overly sweet. The spicy chicken wasn't very spicy but still enjoyable. The rice that I got as a side was the perfect consistency--sticky and not dry. The parmesan fries were disappointing; they were far too salty and should likely have been served with ketchup. We were given bowls of miso soup on the side--loved the soup. I may come back here again, but I wouldn't recommend the place to anyone looking for a standout fried chicken place.

Yelp
"I stumbled upon this cozy Korean fried chicken gem, tucked away in a quaint corner. After a long, tiring day, I found myself here quite late. The initial impression was very positive - a warm and inviting atmosphere. As it was my first visit, I took my time perusing the menu, and a courteous young lady patiently assisted me with my order. However, I must admit that my indecision might have tested their patience a bit, as a young man from the kitchen kindly emerged to expedite my order. He politely informed me of their closing time in 30 minutes, gently nudging me to make a choice. I placed my order and was then informed that I couldn't stay inside and had to stand in the chilly outdoors, which was a bit unexpected. However, the young lady intervened, and I was allowed back inside, as they hadn't closed for another hour, thus resolving the initial confusion. I opted for a medium-sized order of Korean fried chicken, half soy garlic, and half spicy, complemented by fried dumplings with spicy sauce and jalapeño poppers. The flavors of every dish were simply outstanding, delivering precisely what I had hoped for. Each item on the menu was packed with flavor and a delight for the palate. Admittedly, my excitement led me to order more than I could comfortably finish, and I ended up sharing a substantial portion with a fellow diner. The dumplings, in particular, stood out with their savory blend of pork and various ingredients, oozing with delightful juices. The Korean fried chicken was crisp and satisfying, though the garlic sauce leaned more towards soy than garlic, so I'd recommend a bit more garlic punch on my next visit. As for the jalapeño poppers, they had a unique tartness rather than the expected balance of spiciness and sweetness. It's a minor note, as the overall dining experience was fantastic. I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant and look forward to returning. To avoid any closing-time confusion, my advice is to visit a bit earlier. Keep in mind that the restaurant's cozy interior can accommodate around 20 people, possibly a few less, so plan accordingly if you're dining with a larger group."

Yelp
Holy crap. This place is delicious. I've never had better fried chicken. I like to get half soy and half original and I like the strips because you don't deal with bones. It came with a small miso soup and a side. I got the kimchi coleslaw which is 10/10. Don't miss out on that. The radish is also good. The mango sauce is bomb. And the price is so fair. Thank you koko wings for feeding me so well! I love you.

Yelp
I've been going to KoKo wings since they opened here on the Upper West Side. I love their boneless chicken strips with the Soy/Garlic sauce and usually get it with a side of white rice. This time we also ordered some miso soup.. That wasn't the best example as it was pretty much just water. When I go there to eat the service is good. The staff are nice and accommodating people. As far as atmosphere, it's a nice small spot. Maybe 5 or 6 tables. Dimly lit. They usually have some light music playing in the background. Overall it's a nice spot to get some good Korean Fried Chicken and glad it's in the neighborhood. So make sure you check it out on the UWS! Have a good one y'all!

Yelp
Came here on a rainy day...the restaurant is very quaint and cozy! Honestly, I think this place is underrated when it comes to Korean Fried Chicken. We ordered the half and half combo with soy garlic and hot and spicy (some wings/some drumsticks). The crunch factor was unreal and the soy garlic sauce was heavenly for me (just wished there was a little more sauce on the wings). The hot and spicy was also good but be ready for some real spice. The wings were not greasy at all which I really appreciated. Definitely do NOT forget to get the kimchi coleslaw - it was perfection! Overall, it was not the best fried chicken I've had in NYC, but definitely a good one time visit!

Yelp
So i haven't eaten Koko wings in a very long time (years ago), and when I did it was good. What I'm mostly disappointed about is that now it is advertised that their chicken is all Halal. I respect them having the option, but now it removes the ability for a group of people to no longer eat it; since that is the only option that they have instead of adding it to the menu.

Daywik C.

Yelp
The korean chicken wings are delicious. Not alot of seating. Small parties of 4 or less is better

Yelp
I absolutely love this place it's one of my go to's , they make amazing wings, best wings I ever had, super crunchy & good sauces. The spicy option can be a little too spicy for me at times but their soy garlic wings are to die for. The service is amazing, they bring me complimentary miso soup everytime and the place is super chill and clean.

Yelp
Oh my. Im writing this review as im eating the food I just got. (Takeout.) I'm so so disappointed. This place is good for wings and that's it. Every time I've ordered other actual dishes, I've had negative experiences. Today I gave it a try again since it's been awhile and ordered tofu stew alongside my chicken combo which i normally order. I rarely say this about places using extreme words but this is just disgusting. The soup is watery, has no flavor and the vegetables are nearly raw! They literally just threw everything in here carelessly. This is offensive to be listed as a Korean food. My hope is that people try this place and NOT assume this is what Korean food is supposed to taste like. I think they need to take these less than mediocre dishes off their menu and just focus on the wings. The wings are flavorful and good, although over the years I've noticed the meat sizes have gotten significantly smaller.... Not sure if I'll order here again.

Yelp
Long overdue review for Koko Wings. We haven't lived in NYC for years but we still think of their chicken frequently and fondly. Koko Wings is a small pocket of Asian deliciousness in the Upper West Side. Seating is limited but service is fast. The bar at the left side is perfect for waiting at during the cold winters. The chicken is so crunchy and tasty. We love (read: gorge on) their spicy wings. It's good enough that it made my wife a fried chicken fan. I'm half Korean and their bibimbap and japchae kept my Korean cravings at bay. Oh man, now I want some...
google avatar

Mike S.

Yelp
All the dishes are delicious. Great chicken. Always ready when they say. Nice people. Take out or eat in. My Sunday night go-to. I'd go more often but my wife won't let me.

Yelp
3/5 Pros: Very very sweet service. The man that took our order was really attentive and they were also super busy with to go orders. Cone; The food was a little bit salty. The stone hot bibimbap was not burnt on the bottom which is really the point of having a stone hot bibimbap. was disappointed w that. The meat in this was also kind of chewy which I didn't love The seafood pancake was really really crispy on the bottom, the flavor was kind of lacking. The japchae was very oily as well. Good service decent korean food. Kind of meant for a fast eat to fill up your stomach!

Yelp
We live in Brooklyn so when we are in Harlem, which is not very often, we make sure to make a stop for KoKo wangsss! The service is attentive and quick. I don't drink alcohol or any beverages, besides water, but there's something about the water that they serve in this stainless steel carafe, that tastes like they got it from the mountain springs of New York county-ice cold and tasty! It is pretty small inside with about five tables. I think they really could not accommodate large groups, but we were sitting next to table of maybe five people and I think that was the largest table they had. Wings and the kimchi coke slaw ftw...Go here!

Yelp
Some dearly beloved friends came over and treated us to a dinner by delivery from Koko. The company was exceptional of course -- but if we are to be completely ungrateful, entitled ingrates, the food itself was mediocre. The food is very Americanized Korean, read: overly sweet and gloppy, and where it is spicy, it is spicy in unidimensional, uninteresting ways. I'm not a big KoFC person, but have to acknowledge that the crispy, crusty coating on the chicken was texturally extremely enjoyable, just horribly sweet. The chicken itself -- drumsticks and wings -- was quite bland underneath the good crust. Japchae and bulgogi included a lot of varied vegetable matter, which was wonderful in our book. If they and the kimchi chigae had been half as sweet, we would have enjoyed even more. Spice levels were extremely wimpy by Korean standards. What may kill this restaurant for any Koreans: The kimchi was awful. It's hypersweet, hypofermented, and bland, bland, bland. I know we can do better than this, UWS!!!!

Yelp
This is my go to spot for Korean Fried Chicken beating out Bon Chon, Pelicana, and the countless other contenders. I usually order via Uber eats. I cannot recall any issues with any of my countless orders. Thanks to the packaging, the chicken wings always arrive still hot, juicy, and crisp. My favorite is the Soy Garlic which is on the sweet side here. Like I said, the wings themselves are my favorite in the city for the flavor and ratio of chicken to batter. The kimchi and daikon sides are also great but pricey for the portion. The sweet potato fries are good but sometimes soften up by the time they arrive. The other food items are only ok at best except the Kimchi Burrito which I can recommend. I find myself ordering from Koko 4 out of every 5 times I am craving wings and you should too. Maybe just the wings...

Yelp
I like this korean chicken spot after walking in the neighborhood or spending time in the park. Usually not crowded, good wings, good service & reasonable priced. A good option when craving korean food in Morningside heights
google avatar

Joshua H.

Yelp
I ordered from here and was disappointed with the service and food. My delivery was through Uber eats which said it would take 15-30 minutes. The store chooses to deliver themselves and it took my food an hour to arrive. When the food arrived it was cold. The wings were fried extremely hard and barely covered in the soy garlic sauce that I ordered. They were very small and bony wings. The japchae was a small portion that was greasy and the vegetables were cut in huge chunks. I will not order from here again.
google avatar

Jodie L.

Yelp
I came with my brother for dinner and ordered their hot spicy and soy garlic wings and drums. We loved how crispy the skin was and how tender and juicy the chicken was. We also had their jalapeño poppers filled with cream cheese and their cheese balls. The cheese balls was kind of sweet and tasted like dessert but in a good way. They have some new drinks such as their mocktail Mango lovers which we both really enjoy and in the Halloween sprite they have Bloody soju. Staff was attentive and friendly. Definitely come and check them out.
google avatar

Sia B.

Yelp
Ordered 2 lunch specials ($13 each), one with 3 drumsticks (original), and the other 6 wings (spicy) with kimchi coleslaw. Considering that this was a lunch special, it felt really expensive for the amount of food we received (legit sad/disappointed after opening the takeout boxes). We really enjoyed the chicken though. The spicy sauce wasn't that spicy and had a sweetness to it. I prefered the original as it had a nice amount of saltiness. The kimchi coleslaw was a miss as the mayo really overpowered the whole thing. Tldr: Good chicken but expensive.

Stephan G.

Yelp
I was looking for crispy chicken, and what I found was fantastic. I have really never had Korean fried chicken. The cole slaw was interesting. The service was okay; I picked it up, and the 4% rule is excellent. If you pay cash, you will get 4% off.
google avatar

Alexa K.

Yelp
Cool place! Was planning to dine in, but they don't have wifi so had to takeout. Bibimbap was good, but lacked a little in flavor. I would suggest maybe dining in to get the dish on the stone. Service was great!
google avatar

Indhira P.

Yelp
Love this place!! The wings and truffle fries are the best ! A good ambiance too it a bit too small yet is a nice cozy place
google avatar

Shianti B.

Yelp
Kokomo wings gets a 4 from me soley because their customer service isn't always the best, especially with to go orders and to go orders if you no longer need to go or need to wait. The space isn't that big here but you can bring a small group. I love the honey garlic wings, please definitely go try those. They have a good crunch and the flavor is very good. The regular fried chicken is good and crispy but not seasoned and I don't like that. The prices are moderate. They have other items but I went there soley for the chicken. They do have contactless pay, take debit/credit and cash. I say give them a try.
google avatar

Kenneth T.

Yelp
Overall pretty good, a bit overpriced but food is tasty. I like doing the soy garlic wings and the tteokbokki is great but wish the calamari was crispy.
google avatar

Shules H.

Yelp
Forgot to take pics until there was only carnage. Fambam finishing up wrecking shop here. What is this sorcery? They brought the wings pre-sauced, and by the end, (45 min later,) you could still hear the skin crack like a gunshot with every bite. Best. Chicken. Ever. Get the kimchi. Get the Gochujang sauce. Go tonight.
google avatar

Aya A.

Yelp
we got the 6 piece spicy chicken strips with truffle oil fries and the mango and honey mustard sauces. the food was delicious! i really liked the spicy chicken with their mango sauce, i had never tried something like that before. the staff was also very friendly. i really appreciated their speed and efficiency. my friend and i were running late but we were able to enjoy our meal because of how quick they were! highly recommend this place and will definitely be back!
google avatar

Jeannette U.

Yelp
Best wings I've had in the city! The coleslaw is so good and the sweet potato fries have an amazing cinnamony taste. The employees are so warm and so nice, excellent service. They even have us free miso soup. Deff will become a regular!
google avatar

Kwame S.

Yelp
A year ago my job ordered delivery from KoKo Wings, and everything was amazing. However, for my most recent order, our dishes were not as good as my previous experience with them. I'm not saying that the food was bad; it just was not as good. I did expand my palette and added a Bulgogi Rice Bowl to our chicken order. Unfortunately, the rice bowl did not compare to the greatness of our fried chicken selection. Yes, I know that comparing a rice bowl to fried chicken is like comparing apples to oranges. I'm hoping that Koko was having a bad night and our next order will be reminiscent of my first experience with Koko. To end on a positive note: the food delivery arrived to our place a few minutes before Grubhub's estimated time of arrival - very important because I was starving.

Yelp
Koko Wings is my number 1 korean fried chicken spot in NYC right now. Used to be Kyo Chon at 5th Avenue Midtown East but they've since closed down a year or so ago. I'm reserving the 5 stars to when I finally get to dine in and visit their actual restaurant in UWS but based on my 5-6 Postmates orders, it's been a great experience. Their soy garlic wings are solid in both the taste and how crispy and crunchy it should be. We used to have 2 large orders of soy garlic wings and have also tried out their seafood soon tofu soup and bulgogi rice bowl. The last 2 items were just alright, needs that extra little something kick from other korean restaurants. But the soy garlic wings I'd happily recommend. Oddly, their kimchi leaves something to be desired but their kimchi coleslaw is really good! My only other observation is they're not pretty consistent on the sizes of their wings. They're definitely not cheap plus imagine Postmates pricing so I hope they at least track their regular/loyal customers and note the consistency part. Look forward to actually dining in soon, when things are better! But for now, happy to support!
google avatar

Blanche M.

Yelp
The wings are good, particularly the soy wings. However, the service leaves a lot to be desired. Thus, I have to give it the amount of stars that match the service. I would also add that the waitress/cashier is rude. I think this happens in a lot of places where people hate their jobs, and would prefer to do something else. Hopefully, she can move onto greener pastures.
google avatar

Krissy W.

Yelp
Door Dash The chicken bibimbap was delivered hot and fresh. It was the perfect spice level and delicious.
google avatar

Yelp
We order here for delivery when my kiddo craves her k-fried chicken She seems to love them- Would recommend, we only had good experience here-
google avatar

Yelp
I highly recommend these wings to you and your family you won't be disappointed Especially the soy garlic wings
google avatar

Yelp
The elderly lady is dishonest. Menu price for the pork dish is $16.99. Didn't realize it when i got home, but was charged $21.99 on receipt. Went on yelp menu, and price was $27.99 for the dish. College student trap. Beware!
google avatar

Jonathan C.

Yelp
I loved the wings here! I ordered a mix of plain and soy garlic. The wings were deep fried and very crisp. Some of the pieces were a bit small but otherwise delicious. The soy garlic is a bit spicier than I expected. The Parmesan fries are also really good.
google avatar

Christina J.

Yelp
Ordered the soy garlic wings w white rice, kimchi and gun mandu on uber eats. alll of it was so good and fresh, i ordered it again the next week.
google avatar

Jailine D.

Yelp
Wow! Please, please, and a million more please's! Beware of the balduk! It is the spiciest thing I have ever eaten in my life! I love spicy food but this took it to a whole other level! After the first bite, immediately had to take a sip of my drink because my mouth was on fire instantly. It was as delicious and it was spicy! Just make sure you tell them to lower it a bit or maybe challenge yourself. I could've even finish half of it, I couldn't handle it. Their lemon iced tea was a lifesaver! The mango pouch (alcoholic) was alright, it didn't taste like mango at all. Overall, it's a nice place. Their wings are delicious and the iced tea was lovely. The balduk was a challenge but I glad I got to try it!
google avatar

Yusuke I.

Yelp
If I could give it a zero star I will because this place is the worse korean fried chicken in NY. I don't know how this business is still surviving sorry to say!?!? I called in to let them know it wasn't fresh and the chicken was dry...the lady reply everything was just made, which I dont believe a word she said!! Becasue the crust felt like it was under the red light heater for hours! If she said it was freshly cooked then they definitely don't know how to cook!! Never again buying from this restaurant two thumbs down!!!
google avatar

Diondra B.

Yelp
Came here for dinner and tried a few items my favorite was the wings. They were nice and crispy
google avatar

Adhrit S.

Yelp
Flavors were good, but the meat was dry, the battering was bristly, and the wings were tiny. It's a dark, casual place with limited seating.
google avatar

Michael L.

Yelp
Wings were good. Had the soy garlic and original. We'll seasoned and crispy. Sweet potato fries were tasty as well. The Lemon Garlic noodle with shrimp were just OK. Would skip this next time but overall food got out quickly and it was a good experience.
google avatar

Yelp
My favorite restaurant in NYC!!! Koko wings are legendary, you must get the soy garlic wings and the kimchi coleslaw. I live outside the city now but it's a must-visit location every time I come back here. I'm dining in at Koko Wings today for the first time in 4 years and it's only gotten better with time. I'll be dreaming of Koko wings until my next NYC trip.
google avatar

David X.

Yelp
Amazing Korean-style fast bites here! The bulgolgi burrito with kimchi fried rice elegantly combined two foods I love into one satisfying burrito. It was delicious too eat and surprisingly not that messy!
google avatar

Smeeth W.

Yelp
Another mediocre restaurant in morningside height. They seemed to be very busy for any customer requests and I was seated at the counter and it was so uncomfortable. The counter was very high and it wasn't pleasant to eat. The beef tofu soup was flavorless. I was surprised how burning it tastes. Maybe I should have ordered their popular chicken wings instead, cause this soup wasn't good
google avatar

Rebecca S.

Yelp
Koko Wings has been my covid quarantine beacon of light and hope. But really, delicious korean food that always arrives hot? Amazing If I order through their website and (not uber eats) our order always comes within a half hour PIPING HOT. Uber eats sometimes bundles the order so it arrives warm and usually takes 45 min + Also they have tons of weekday lunch specials until 3.30 My bf gets the 6 piece chicken wings w fries for $9.99 I love the soy garlic chicken burger meal w fries for $10.99 they come w 2 not so little fried chicken burgers (on a nice roll w tomato, arugula and a secret sauce, kind of like in n out sauce) - really delicious! We also got the japche bap which came w rice for $12.95 and yes bulgogi included and delicious as always ! Nice veggies and seasoning. I'd say Koko's is a solid 4.5 stars, maybe loses 0.5 for consistency but if you order from their website it always arrives hot and delicious

Yelp
COVID Take Out order here. This place knows how to do their KFC, the drumsticks are the best!! Large pieces, crisp, and flavorful, never regretted an order, always just craved more after regardless of my full belly! After a few orders of their spicy fried chicken, I was confident in experimenting with my order items. The chicken strips looked like they had an awesome coating too and they had 2 kinds of mandu so I was curious about those. Lastly just threw in some mozzarella sticks because I felt like some cheese. The fried mandu were the best and then chicken strips were good but I had higher hopes for it since their friend chicken is so dynamite. Mozzorella sticks were a bigger miss because the cheese wasn't melty and they just seemed like they got cold or had been frozen for a while. The chicken strips had a similar miss because the chicken was so dry and seemed like it had gotten freezerburn a bit. Maybe if it were dine in and they came out fresh and hot I'd feel differently but for takeout that's how it turned out. Both chicken strips and mozzarella sticks needed their sauces to make them better. Well now I know I'll try certain items for dine in and will try their Mul Mandu since the Gun Mandu was tasty! That fried chicken is no joke, check it out!!

Yelp
me and my daughter decided to try something nee this night. my daughter was quickly turned off when the lady couldn't tell us about the sauces on the menu that was hand written in. I still decided to order with the disinterested lady at the counter. I should've went with my daughter and turned around. I got home to something that looks like a bulogi sandwich. I definitely ordered a crispy chicken sandwich and was sure my receipt said the same. I reached home to find out that's not what I got and could not reach anyone on the line. Hope they get someone in there to help out and can communicate with the customers.

Yelp
So glad to have Koko's Korean fried chicken in the UWS. The wings were still so crispy even after delivery. Get the half and half to try more sauces. I got the soy garlic and hot spicy. Both were delicious though the hot spicy really didn't have any heat. I also got the soon tofu soup with seafood. I asked for it extra spicy, and though it wasn't as spicy as I wanted, it was satisfying with a generous amount of seafood - shrimp, clams and baby octopus. The real surprise and winning dish was the shrimp okonomiyaki. It arrived with bonito flakes still dancing. It was slightly crisp and so savory with its addition of bacon, egg yolk, mayo and katsu sauce. It's a must try!
