"It’s not just the real animals that attract people to Sweden’s largest zoo and wildlife park, located two hours’ drive southwest from Stockholm . Many Swedish children love to come because of Bamse’s World, an amusement park dedicated to a popular cartoon bear, Bamse, who is the world’s strongest bear due to his consumption of thunder-honey. There are real brown bears, too, at Kolmården, along with the big-name Nordic animals (moose, wolves, reindeer, etc.) and foreign visitors (elephants, giraffes, tigers, gorillas, and bottlenose dolphins in Scandinavia’s first dolphinarium), plus roller coasters and other rides."

"Day Trip to Kolmården Animal Park The closest thing Stockholm has to a full-scale zoo is quite impressive. Located 90 minutes' driving from the city, Kolmården Animal Park (Djurpark) is the largest in Scandinavia with about 750 wild attractions from all the jungles, savannas, and oceans of the world. What makes the park exciting, in addition to its wide array of wildlife, is that it opened the world’s first wildlife-park gondola. The gondola takes you high above the trees—think spectacular views of the bay and Baltic—as you cruise over, coming as close as possible to animals from around the world including lions, bears, wolves, elephants, and giraffes. Marine World offers up dolphin and seal shows, while you can get up close to Siberian tigers in Tiger World. For kids, there’s a storybook setting of Bamse’s World, and an adventure camp with Sweden’s largest slide and a petting zoo."

Beautiful park with great attractions for kids, but not tourist-friendly The park has lots of different animals and shows — really great attractions for kids! The grounds are beautiful, clean, and well maintained, and the animals and shows are fantastic. Hope, the dolphin show, was amazing and definitely a highlight of our visit. However, I was quite disappointed that everything was only in Swedish — all the signs, guides, and maps. It was not easy to find the different locations, especially since the park is huge and the signs only show distances, not directions. There was no printed daily program available either. They said you could find it online, but what if you’re a tourist or don’t have internet access? Even when we did check online, it was not clear what times the shows were or what to expect. Overall, it’s a beautiful park and worth visiting, but I really hope they make it more accessible for international visitors in the future.

Perfect for families! I recommend to see the day's schedule on the website so you don't miss anything. Maybe a change of clothes for the small ones that want to play on water.

Review: MUST VISIT!!! This should be one of the top family destinations in the world. Top tips: if you don’t speak Swedish, make sure to have internet connection. Google Translate works well to translate in real time the verbal narration (use transcribe mode). I happened to visit a nearby town and decided to dedicate a day here. I have been to other zoos around the world and can say that this is hands down the best zoo ever (surpassing Disney Animal Kingdom in Orlando). I can summarize the positive experiences based on the following: 1) Very thoughtful park designs - it highlights the animals well and gives you the feeling that you are very close to the animals while still maintaining safe distance. Lots of seatings area and enjoyable for adults and children 2) Great variety of animals and clear purpose - the zoo has good amount of animals but relatively small compared to other conventional zoos (a good thing). This is because they focus on near-endangered or endangered animals with aim to raise awareness 3) Lots of shows throughout the day and great to be combined with park visits. The Wildfire roller coaster is also a surprisingly thrilling and enjoyable ride. The ride is much smoother than a similar experience in Universal Orlando. As noted by other reviews, verbal narration is only in Swedish, however Google Translate transcribe feature works really well and helped me (I don’t speak any Swedish). Lots of food / drinks at reasonable prices, washroom, seats, shades, access to public transport etc. Took about 15 minutes to get in the park - no stroller rental but free carts are available (kids are happy to sit there and carted around). Very large grounds, prepare for a long day if you want to see everything. Safari gondola is very unique and family friendly. Website is a bit confusing, the English site doesn’t show the schedule of the day - make sure to check the Swedish site and simply use Google Translate. The only thing I noticed is a lack of water fountain and there’s quite a bit of litter around (including random cardboard boxes in two of the habitat).

Loved this place. Came for Wildfire and managed to do it many times during the day. Lockers didn't cost much and the lady who gave me the token was so nice and helpful. The zoo and safari was amazing and it was nice to see the zoo taking care of the animals along with supporting conservation efforts. Wildfire is an amazing coaster and is worth the trip just to do it. I'd also like to thank Kolmarden for the generous offer they provide those part of the coaster club :)

We recently visited Kolmården Zoo and were truly impressed by the variety of animals, engaging shows, and the beautiful natural surroundings. The dolphin show and safari cable car ride were unforgettable highlights, offering unique and close-up views of the animals. Don't miss the roller coaster. The park is well-maintained, family-friendly, and offers plenty of activities for kids to enjoy throughout the day or two. While the overall experience was excellent, navigation around the park could be made smoother. Some areas lack clear directional signs Overall, Kolmården Zoo is a fantastic destination for families and animal lovers, and we highly. We highly recommend it and also do pre-book tickets for all attractions wherever it offers pre-booking.

The zoo is huge in size, so be ready to walk a lot. However, it has a lot of animals to view, and a lot of restaurants spread across the zoo to eat and snack. Kids had a blast in the water fountain area and enjoyed the zoo. We covered the zoo split in half a day across 2 days.

Tucked away in a lush, sprawling landscape, this sanctuary offers a profound and moving experience, setting it apart from traditional zoos. The first thing you notice is the space; instead of cramped enclosures, the animals roam in vast, naturalistic habitats that mimic their native environments. This is a place where the welfare of the animals is the unquestionable priority. Recommendation Arrive at zoo around midday and start the journey by parking your car at the hotel (check in start at 1600hrs). Start the journey by visiting the Safari and Wildfire rides, there might be a waiting time though but it worth it. Stay night at the hotel, enjoy the dinner and relax for the night. Start your second day with breakfast, after checking out from the hotel move your car to the front parking place which is free of cost as well and then enter in the zoo from main entrance. Start your day with petting area and if your have young visitors then spend most of the day at Dolphin show, Bamsee show and Bamsee world. Food : Several food options are available throughout the zoo. Toilet: toilets are clean and spread out all over so you don't have to worry about missing one Parking: car charging option is available as well . However general parking is free of cost (if you have stayed at hotel)
