Our visit to Kolmården, on the 9th of july 2024, was fantastic. The animal enclosures are spacious and thoughtfully designed, offering great visibility through many viewing windows while still giving the animals plenty of room. Cinematic background music throughout the park adds a magical atmosphere without being intrusive.
One drawback is the very loud children’s area in the center of the park. The music and ride noises are overwhelming and create a carnival-like vibe that slightly detracts from the otherwise natural and immersive atmosphere, and may also be disturbing for the animals. Fortunately, this didn’t ruin our overall experience.
The park is located in a truly stunning area, easily one of the most beautiful parts of Sweden, in our opinion. The mountainous landscape, forests, lake views, and overall serenity make simply walking through the park a highlight in itself.
Food was quite expensive and the quality was average, which was a bit disappointing, but not a dealbreaker.
At the back of the park, Wildfire towers above the landscape and is an absolute highlight. With fast operations, excellent airtime and hangtime, quick turns, and strong inversions, it is a truly outstanding coaster.
The gondola cable car is another must-do attraction, offering smooth operations, clear commentary, background music, and breathtaking views over the park and animal enclosures, including the lions. The spacious gondolas allow for privacy and add a unique and memorable dimension to the visit.
Overall, despite a few minor downsides, Kolmården offers an exceptional combination of animal welfare, breathtaking scenery, and unforgettable attractions.
