Went here after visiting Koloa ziplining because both our guides raved about it. I split a large poke with my gf, which had 3 different types of poke and 3 sides over sushi rice. It was fantastic poke and the sides were almost as good as the fish. It's a big portion for $25, easily enough for lunch for two. The service was fast and friendly, even tho there was a line we got our food in 10-15 minutes. Highly recommend, would come back for more.

Poke was fresh and amazing. Katsu and Lau Lau we’re also good. Everything was neatly packaged for takeout. Be sure to read all the signs to figure out their ordering process. The inside isn’t open; you have to order and pick up through the front windows. No eating allowed, so you have to take your food elsewhere to eat.

Wow! Great poke! We picked up a medium combo bowl to share. So yummy! Parking is kinda in the back! Worth the wait! Menu is clearly posted outside on the windows too! Yum yum!

I spent 5 days on Kaua'i and had poke every day. This was the best. They have a nice variety of sauces and sides which help provide fantastic flavor to go with the fresh and wonderful fish. All the food is takeout, so plan where you want to go eat.

The poke here was so fresh and yummy! We were recommended this place by our ATV tour guide and it did not disappoint! Price was good and we liked it so much we got lunch here twice during our week in Kauai

Excellent poke! Highly recommend making this a pot stop. Tips: There is no seating and they prefer you do not eat on the premises so prepare to take it with you to a park, beach or eat out of your car. They also have no restroom for customers

I’m so sad because I really wanted to like this place. I ordered the ahi tuna lunch plate. The tuna is cooked all the way through. When I took it back to the cashier she told me sautéed means cooked all the way through. I googled that completely wrong. It’s also disgusting. When I took it back I told her that I didn’t like it. Then she told me to throw it way but didn’t offer to get me anything else or to remake it correctly. I have a small business too and I know it cost money to remake things but it also cost money not to make it right.

Delicious poke! Probably my favorite poke on Kaua'i. Their chicken katsu is also very solid; though I think the curry sauce was very Thai style rather than Japanese curry style which confused me a little but it still tastes good. My biggest grievance here is that they don't let people eat at the venue. They literally have bar tables right outside which people can stand and eat outside, but due to laziness, they enforced a no eating on premise policy. It is outside, so Covid is not a legitimate reason; it is likely they just don't want to hire someone to clean. Despite this grevience, I like their food a lot and would recommend trying out the Korean style Ahi Tuna poke.

Yelp
Great place to get local hawaiian food for a very reasonable price. The foods are delicious! They serve poke, island fish of the day, Hawaiian plates and desserts as well. There's no restroom inside, no tables and seats. They only do to go orders, but you can eat your food outside (in front of the fish market). Ordered island fish of the day with lemon caper butter sauce and spicy ahi poke, taro pie for dessert - so yummy! I would definitely save this place in my list for next time I come back to Kauai.

Norma N.

Yelp
Hadn't been to their new location until now. What a big difference product is out along with the desserts. Poke' is always fresh. Fried chicken is always ordered I love eating it on the beach. The Ahi was the fish for the day. Fish is fresh and all the toppings are tasty. Today we had ocean salad, edamame, avocado cream tuna bowl, ahi, and fried chicken. We are definitely going back always a stop and never disappointed. Service is always fast and the building is nice new and clean. The team working there is family and have always been very customer service oriented no matter how many people are in line. Enjoy when on the island!

Yelp
This one of those places I wanted to eat at while on vacation and it did not dissapoint. First make sure to plan accordingly as they are close Thursdays and Sundays they also close super early 3pm. Parking is limited in the back area. There is usually a line but it does go by pretty quick. Menu they have posted makes it pretty easy for you to order your combos. There is no seating inside so this is to go only. We had a big party so I think we tried pretty much everything. We we're not a fan of the teriyaki chiken plate I thought it was dry and the sauce was just ok. We did love the pokes, laulau and kalua pork plate was delicious and the cucumber namasu and ocean salad(seaweed salad) was some of my favorites. This is probably one of those places that if I go back to this Island we'll be making another stop here.

Michelle A.

Yelp
The fish here was super fresh and I like all the options you can get. We got there right when they opened and there were people already waiting. By the time we ordered, the line was out the door! The prices are fair and you get a good amount of fish in your order. A medium gets you a scoop of rice with 2 scoops of fish, choice of side and sauces. My favorites were the avocado ahi and the salmon poke. We took our order to go and ate it on the beach. It was the perfect lunch!

Molly M.

Yelp
Stopped in here bc we heard the buzz about the great poke! It was delicious! Downside is that parking was super limited and after you get your food there's absolutely nowhere to eat it:( No seating inside or out. It's definitely a to go place! But it's a great lunch spot to stop in on your way to the beach!

Kyle C.

Yelp
The poke was incredibly fresh tasting as you'd expect in a place called "Fish market". Portion size was a little small though but I guess you're paying for that market price freshness. Staff was quick and friendly, I went at about 10:30 and there wasn't a line, but I've seen the line gets bigger around noon. Not a far drive from the beach if you want to get a quick lunch and head back to the beach.

Carrie C.

Yelp
Really great spot in Kauai for a refreshing poke bowl! Service is really quick and the menu is small but packs a punch in flavors. Highly recommend because the fish here is very fresh and tasty. One of my favorite bowls I've had on my trip to Hawaii!

Melissa L.

Yelp
We came to Koloa fish market while on our hunt for the best poke spots in Kauai. By Poipu beach, and in a little town that feels more residential. We had heard that their poke often sells out and called ahead and found out that they stop making more poke an hour before closing so we headed there around 2. They had all their poke types left! You order at a counter and there is some standing space, but no seating and the space is definitely controlled by a fairly aggressive rooster who isn't afraid to get close for food! The poke always a little bit of a disappointment to be honest. We had the spicy tuna but found it slightly chewy and not very fresh tasting. There were many chunks we had to spit out. We also ordered a pork laulau which was good but nothing incredible. The portions sizes were nice. Not sure if we got a bad batch but the fish did not taste fresh and I would consider this poke similar to the grocery store standard.

Nancy L.

Yelp
Probably one of the better options in the area. I enjoyed their spicy cucumbers and pickled cucumber sides. They were a little heavy handed with the furikake topping, but the flavors were good and the pricing wasn't bad. I also enjoyed the salad and the edamame. Mango bread was yummy, not too sweet.

Mari C.

Yelp
When in Kaua'i, poke is a must. Stopped in for lunch on a weekday while on vacation. Not too crowded. Ordered a small shoyu ahi poke bowl with kimchi cucumbers and edamame. Service was friendly and pretty quick. The poke bowl was delicious-fresh and balanced flavors. I also ordered a mango bread which was nice to snack on later at the hotel. Although it is mainly a takeout spot, you can eat your poke on their porch, which was actually a nice experience. When I'm ever back in Kaua'i I would definitely go back.

Shantell C.

Yelp
Located on the main strip in Koloa, large driveway beside the store with a paved parking lot in the back. Here you'll find fresh Aji and various pies. They also make delicious plate lunches have desserts to go and have a beverage refrigerator.

Katie H.

Yelp
Best poke we tried during our stay in Kauai. Perfect to pick up after a Napoli coast boat tour. It was so fresh a sun the flavors were super tasty, and the portion size was great. Definitely don't miss out on this ahi!

Elizabeth N.

Yelp
One of the first poke places I tried while in Hawaii and it was honestly the best. It had so many options and the vegetables are stellar. The price is cheap for what you get too! Must get. The lines move fast.

Becca M.

Yelp
The service here is always a little slow but the food is always well worth the wait. Plan ahead if you are going during lunch hours because the parking is sparse and the restaurant is on a main road. There isn't space to eat here either - it's all take out. THE FOOD is to die for. The different poke types are all great. My favorites are spicy ahi, smoked marlin, Korean, and maui onion. If you are going to come eat here you can't leave without a piece of Haupia sweet potato pie. It's beautiful. It's got great texture. It's the flavor of the gods. Don't wait another moment - just go buy some.

Bob F.

Yelp
Always decent Hawaiian fish food. Fairly quick. Nice people. Great menu. Takeaway and visit the beach. Enjoy!

Emily T.

Yelp
We really enjoyed this spot! The fish was fresh, service was friendly, and quick! They serve lunch plates. My husband and I shared a plate with ahi poke, smoked marlin (so tasty!), cucumbers, seaweed salad and we bought an entire block of haupia pudding. This was the perfect way to finish off the meal.

Kim T.

Yelp
I was really let down by Koloa Fish Market. My bf and I went early to grab poke before we headed to Princeville. Upon exiting the car and walking to the ordering window, youll be hit in the face with the smell of fish. It wasn't a big deal since I associated the smell with the fresh catch! After we ordered, we waited maybe about 10 minutes for our food. At the first bite, I knew I was not going to finish my food. I've had poke all over Hawaii and I cannot stand when there's even the slightest bit of fishiness. I know this is not normal. I had a few bites and ended up tossing it. My bf also felt the same way. We didn't get the hype. Maybe we just came on an off day.

Clayton M.

Yelp
Love this place. Best poke on the island? It's definitely up there if not #1. Love the avocado ahi & the spicy ahi (it's not spicy at all btw, just has some spicy mayo flavoring). Salmon is also nice. Love the seaweed salad & edamame toppings. Wish I had more teriyaki sauce to go with it - maybe I should've asked for some on the side. They don't have any seating so it's more of a grab n go spot. But it's close enough to the beach that it's a fun thing to take & eat there. Also reasonably priced compared to a lot of other food on the island! You get your money's worth given the quality.

Emma F.

Yelp
Solid spot for poke. Appreciated that you can order the fish on its own as we had some leftover rice and this was perfect for us! Also has a good amount of parking in the back.

Ali J.

Yelp
Cutest place, so glad we stopped by! They are efficient, organized, and the food is delicious! Make sure you save room for the Haupia sweet potato- it was so good!!

Alice A.

Yelp
Super clean and organized. Great food choices. We chose the 2 fish of the day (Ono) plates and a poke bowl, 3 drinks and a dessert that came to about $65. Lots of things to add to make it your own. You order on the left and they put it together for you 'to go'. There are NO seats. There is a shelf on the outside patio that you could stand at to eat, or eat in your car, or what we did in locating tables at a food truck area nearby. I found it very interesting that this is a fast food style, albeit fresh, food delivery and the gal checking us out had a huge tip container next to her and had the full confidence to ask if we want to leave a tip on a credit card charge that we are paying extra to use. Wow! We would go back, but put the tip jar away and recognize that handing food over the counter to go, with no place to sit, is not tip worthy.

Linda N.

Yelp
This place is popular for a reason. The poke here was so good we had to go back for more. They have a small menu because they know how to do them right. You can pick 1-3 pokes and various sides. The fish was so fresh and coated in delicious sauces. The sides and rice were also tasty. We got the mango bread, which was good and had a moist, cake texture. There is no seating here when we went. There is usually a line that moves fairly quickly. The line, ordering, and checkout takes place through windows, but is covered if it rains. It's definitely worth the wait so don't miss out on the freshest poke!

Alessandra D.

Yelp
A MUST visit in Kauai, especially Poipu!! I live on the east coast and dream about this poke. I was lucky enough to come back to Poipu recently and got my whole family their poke. Even the ones who were hesitant of the ahi went with the cooked shrimp poke and loved it! Some also got the kalua pork plate and said it was the best pork they have ever had. The ahi quite literally melts in my mouth and is some of the freshest ever. The run a tight ship in terms of ordering and paying and food came out fast. You can only take it out to go! Recommend: avocado ahi, shoyu ahi

Kenneth W.

Yelp
They have some great poke here but they have the best MANGO BREAD is the very best! They close early so make sure to come early to make sure you get to me while they still have poke! They sell out quickly and close at 5 pm. Nice and cool inside! Walk up and order! The Staff is super friendly!

Andrew C.

Yelp
Delicious Poke! Awesome food with fast friendly service. Take out only, no sitting areas. Great place for lunch!

Jeremy P.

Yelp
Saw this place listed to hit when in koala town and definitely glad we hit it. The poke bowl was money and on point. So good and so fresh. My family had the kalua pork and chicken katsu and everyone was loving the flavors and portion sizes. The service was fast and friendly and it was pretty affordable as well. Definitely don't miss this place as you go through koala town.

Wendy D.

Yelp
This place was the bomb! (that's a very good thing). We stopped there on our first day in Kuaui, on the way to our hotel. The reviews were good and it was close to where we were staying. A friend of us had told us about it too. We all got Poke. Every one of us loved our dish and wanted to go back another time. For me, being gluten free, they had many options and the staff who took our order at the window really knew about what it means to be gluten free and I felt confident in ordering from her. The next time we tried to go there, it was a little bit later in the afternoon and much of what we wanted was out of stock, especially the gluten free options so we decided to go somewhere else. But I think its safe to say that we all enjoyed the food here so much that we would have eaten here several times. It just didn't work out that way. So we were disappointed by missing out on a second visit. Oh, but next time!

Allison T.

Yelp
Best Ahi poke I've ever had! The teriyaki chicken is also delicious! This is a take out only establishment.

Bree M.

Yelp
Fresh fresh fresh yummy poke!! Highly recommend from a person the lives on Oahu. A must try! Better than Pono Fish Market and Fish Express! Take a trip to Koloa for fresh poke!

Thuy N.

Yelp
The place is not all the hype. Yes it has poke and is not fishy tasting. But it did not have the wow factor. The ono fish was smothered in a sauce so it was overpowering. I have had better poke at the supermarket (Foodland or Big Save)

Elayna N.

Yelp
This was the best meal we had on the island. I only wish we could stand and eat it there! We had to drive to the nearby shopping plaza to find a place to sit and eat. There's always about a 15-30 min wait here but trust me the poke and food is worth it. We went twice while we were on the island and tried quite a few poke. The poke here is fresh so you can't go wrong! They market itself is not open which I wish we could actually see the poke and options. That being said I'd take a look at the menu before you order so you know all your options. They also have all the container sizes at the order window if you are trying to figure out how much you should get. Wasabi ahi poke 5/5 By far our most favorite poke. It wasn't overly creamy and the wasabi was a nice and pleasant kick. Korean ahi poke 4.5/5 The first time we had this I loved it. It was delicious and had a nice hint of sesame oil and shoyu. The second time it wasn't quite as good. I'd still always choose to order this one though. Maui onion seaweed ahi poke 3.5/5 Not as tasty but fresh. Stronger onion tones and could use more salt or shoyu. Smoked marlin 1/5 This was way too dry for us. It was like thick chewy jerky and not in a good way. Hawaiian combo plate 5/5 The Laulau here is SO flavorful and filled with umami. The meat was tender and juicy and went so well with the rice. Kalua pig was also good but not nearly as good as the laulau if you are choosing between the 2. The chicken long rice that comes with this is also so incredibly delicious. Fried chicken lunch 4/5 The fried chicken is fried well and it is nicely crispy. It is lightly seasoned and juicy. Goes well with the rice as well but could use a tad more salt or sauce. Overall, if you are coming to Kauai and are in the Southside, you HAVE to try this place. Such good and fresh poke and doesn't break the bank like most of the other restaurants. Just plan to take it somewhere else.

Dara M.

Yelp
Such a great spot and really fresh fish. The poke is amazing. I will say go earlier in the day as they do start to run low on items as it gets closer to closing time. We still got all the poke we were wanting which was great. Order at the walk-up window. They have a small porch area to stand around the railing and eat. I recommend taking it to go and eating at the beach or another location. It was all delicious. The staff were friendly and helpful. We were told multiple times that it's the freshest poke on the island. We'd go back again for sure.

Tommy T.

Yelp
THIS IS THE BEST POKE! I spent 5 days on the island with my partner and we ate poke either once or twice a day to try and find the best POKE! We stumbled upon Koloa on our last full day here... and let me tell you... THIS IS THE BEST POKE! The fish was soft the flavor was so balanced... we ate in the parking lot since it's a grab and go kinda place. I destroyed my bowl and I went back for seconds because I know I will not be able to find any thing like this again... it was so fucking good! You have to go here! #1 POKE out of the 6 place that we tried. I tired the Korean style, wasabi and Shoyu. After eating two bowls, my favorite is the Shoyu and wasabi combo! You have to get the seaweed and cucumbers!! SO FUCKING GOOD!!

Jasmine N.

Yelp
No seating, only takeout orders. Got a large poke bowl with salmon, spicy ahi, and wasabi ahi, edamame, white rice, ocean salad. Out of the 3 poke we got, surprisingly liked the wasabi one the most. Wasabi flavor was light and creamy, not a strong wasabi flavor. The salmon was good but I've had salmon more buttery previously. Spicy ahi wasn't that spicy, almost like the regular ahi poke.

Courtney C.

Yelp
Amazing fish and side options for a great price. The service was quick and they had so many options to choose from. Highly recommend for amazing poke bowl

Chad K.

Yelp
Koloa Fish market is like no other poke place I been to. For me I like to see what I'm getting because sometimes that verifies what I really want to get. So the fact I had to get poke that I couldn't even see what quiet of a let down. Service was great and atmosphere at the time being was very crowded because people not only had a line to order food but there was also a line to pick up your order which ended up being a lot more jam packed then normal. All in all not to bad poke.

Austin F.

Yelp
I went to Koloa Fish Market the other day to try their Catch of the Day Special (it was the Cooked Ahi when I went). It was amazing! It paired really well with the Teriyaki Sauce and it didn't have an overwhelming fish taste to it. I cannot recall the last time I had eaten fish with as much zeal as I did that day. The market did feel a bit small there aren't any tables or chairs to sit at, but the staff is very courteous and efficient in providing delicious food to their customers. I would definitely like to come back for more in the future.

Anthony D.

Yelp
A great lunch spot to grab some fresh poke on the go! Everything is takeaway so you'll need to find somewhere else to eat. They have a great selection of different poke from Tuna, Salmon, Marlin, Octopus, and even Shrimp. I went with the large poke bowl and got Salmon, Spicy Ahi, and the Maui Onion Seaweed. For sides I got the Ocean Salad, Cucumber Namasu & Kim Chee Cucumber. All of the poke tasted fresh and I really enjoyed the sides a lot! The large comes with 3 poke selections and 3 sides so it's a good amount of food. Anything less though however probably wouldn't be enough to fill me up. I went during peak lunch hours and the line to order wasn't too long, but the wait for your food was about 20 minutes. Definitely stop by if you're visiting Old Koloa Town!

Winston C.

Yelp
Most people mention the long line but we showed up during the week around lunchtime and were the only ones there. Loved the friendly staff and know that the poke is definitely fresh given what you can see in the store and the lady telling us to try the poke by itself reflecting pride in the flavoring/effort they use to make it. Don't just overwhelm it with soy sauce! Ordered the Spicy Ahi Poke and Salmon and got a side of the Cucumber Namasu. The poke comes in a small to-go container over a scoop of rice. It looks small but ends up being a good amount of food for a meal. A few notes: it's all order/pay from the outside, so you cannot go inside to see the food or anything. Also means there is no seating close by so you need to eat right on the patio, back at your home or on the beach.

Tim M.

Yelp
OMG - Just Go! By far the best poke bowls in Hawaii for $20! Tuna, salmon, edamame, spicy mayo - this place has great options to create a poke bowl to your liking. 5 proteins, 7 sides to choose from helps create different combinations. Nestled in downtown Koloa but short drive from anywhere on the southern side of the island, find time to try this place. Con: To-go only but it keeps the parking lot churning.

Michelle H.

Yelp
This place is supposed to have the best ahi poke on the south of the island so we had to try it. There are long lines but it goes by fairly quickly. Be ready to order by the time you hit the counter which should be easy to do since the menu is posted everywhere. We got the 2 scoop ahi poke bowl, Korean poke and the avocado poke. I recommend the Korean poke and skipping the avocado. The chicken Katsu was good but overall, the whole meal was underwhelming. There is ahi poke everywhere on the island and we actually thought the bowl at the resort restaurant was better. As others say, this place is a to go only joint. You can't eat on their property and the lady calling out the food can be pushy. I saw her being not so pleasant to two customers who missed picking up their orders, but my own experience was fine. We probably will skip this place next time on the island but seems to be very popular with tourists. Go try it yourself and see if you have a different experience.

Madison G.

Yelp
Just okay. Nothing to write home about. Pork was dry and lacked any flavor. Sort of a waste of money. There's much better pork and poke at other places.

Gage G.

Yelp
What a fun place! Unfortunately we went towards the end of their day so they were out of several meats such as shrimp and several popular Ahi flavors. They were super nice and efficient here, and I love that it's just a pickup window! Their menu has all the poke, bulk poke to go, as well as several desserts, sodas, and other drinks! There are plenty of gluten free and dairy free options too very very cool and very very delicious!! Definitely come grab food to go here, but make sure you go earlier in the day!

Keilab A.

Yelp
Solid spot for fresh poke. The service is efficient and you need to know what you want when you're ordering. You pay once you pick up your food at the next window. I shared a large poke bowl for $24.99 with two others and it was plenty of food. We got the avocado ahi, spicy ahi, and shoyu flavors for our fish, and had ocean salad, cucumber namasu (pickled cucs), and kimchee cucs as our sides. I enjoyed all of the poke options, but my favorite of the three was the spicy ahi. The fish was buttery soft and the sauces were all tasty. They do not offer any seating, so your best bet is taking the food to the shopping center right around the corner to eat at a bench. Great job Koloa Fish Market!

Chauncey G.

Yelp
Nestled in the sun-drenched paradise of Po'ipu, Koloa Fish Market serves as a beacon for those seeking authentic Hawaiian flavors. My companion and I, driven by the call of culinary adventure, eagerly approached this quaint establishment, our appetites whetted for the island's best offerings. We placed our order with great anticipation: two small pokes, vibrant with the taste of the ocean, a kalua pig plate steeped in the smoky essence of traditional Hawaiian cookery, and a side of creamy macaroni salad, the comfort staple of any local feast. Each dish was a celebration of flavor, true to the local culinary heritage we had come to experience. However, the serenity of our meal was soon overshadowed at the moment of payment. As we ordered, the bill presented--a steep $70--was markedly higher than the anticipated $41. We expressed our concerns, seeking clarity and an itemized receipt to understand the unexpected total. Our requests, however, were met with refusal, leaving us to reluctantly fulfill the payment amidst a sea of confusion. While the dishes themselves were a delightful nod to Kauai's rich flavors, the experience was dampened by the puzzling and unresolved issue of our bill. It is with a hopeful heart that I leave this note, wishing for clearer skies for future patrons of this otherwise charming market.

Kaelin A.

Yelp
The absolute best poke in Kōloa! I am so sad that I was only able to try it on the last day of my trip because I would've gotten it every single day I was there! The poke is so soft and has great flavor! You aren't able to sit down and eat there, so it is easy to bring it to the beach afterwards! The workers great with helping us pick what to get! I also got the lau lau plate and haupia which were both amazing. I recommend going early, especially because they close early!

Andrew M.

Yelp
We were very excited to come here for a poke bowl to take with us to the beach for lunch. We ordered a medium size bowl with 2 types of poke and asked for the avocado poke/spicy poke. After driving to the beach about a half hour away we opened our to-go container and discovered that they had mistakenly given us smoked marlin instead of the spicy poke we had ordered. We were extremely disappointed, and feel like it kind of ruined the lunch which we were so excited about. Sure, we should have opened the container before leaving to verify, but were anxious to leave as the place was so crowded and busy. The smoked marlin has a very strong flavor, and is obviously nothing like the ahi poke which we ordered. We left the beach earlier than planned so we could stop back by in hopes that they would somehow make it right. We were "treated" to what was essentially a sauce container of the spicy poke and no apology whatsoever. Didn't seem like they cared at all about their mistake. For the premium you pay to eat at this place, I certainly would have expected better customer service.

Brent B.

Yelp
Hands down best poke on the island! Pro tip: pay in cash to avoid credit card fee. A local favorite and the reason is clear. Always a line so be prepared to wait but it absolutely worth it. Fresh ahi prepared well with sushi rice or regular rice. A nice assortment of add ons like seaweed salad, nemasu cucumber, Kim chee cumcumber, furikake, and spicy Mayo. They also serve plate lunches, some interesting local deserts like mango bread (very good) and of course spam musubi.

Steff A.

Yelp
Koloa Fish Market was referred to us by some of the friendly locals working at the Grand Hyatt Resort...great place to grab lunch on the go.. FYI Koloa Fish Market orders are all to go. You place your order through the window of the porch of a nice local house. The service was quick and friendly. My combo plate had the shredded Kalua pork which was very yum. The fresh white rice and mac salad were the perfect sides. My friends sampled their poke bowls and were more than pleased. The menu is generous as well as the servings. I wish we had more time in Kauai as I would have loved to return and try the Korean chicken. If you happen to read this and give it a try, let me know how it is! Enjoy!
