We had the 5-course vegetarian dinner with the wine menu. The pairing of food & wine was incredibly well, and we tasted some true gems (including some great orange wines, if you like them) The food was fresh & local, a firework of flavours! The restaurant is a cozy place where we immediately felt at home. and it also has a nice garden if you like to sit outside and enjoy your food or aperitivo there. Definitely coming back if we are visiting Oslo again!

Really nice restaurant in in old environment, personally I like that they kept the old and original details. We had the pleasure to sit in the chambre separé where they served very nice food locally produced.

I came for some wine and snacks, and ended up staying for a full menu tasting. I have no idea why I had not heard of this restaurant before - their food was incredible and the service is to a level that stands out in Oslo. Everything about Kolonihagen says "casual neighborhood hangout", but the food and wine is to a level of a "special occasion" fine dining restaurant. I look forward to coming back as frequently as possible.

We are visiting from New York, on honeymoon in Norway. Loved this restaurant. Lovely place for an affordable upscale dinner that includes Norwegian ingredients. Starting with the bread and butter, which was out of this world, and then going for the full meal. Delicious and so unique. The staff was great. The place is beautiful. Highly recommend!

Astonishingly delicious! Every delicate plate of food that was served to us was exquisite, and the service was marvellous. Marion was a gem. She explained each dish and had great knowledge and recommendations for what wines we should have. What an absolute treat it was to dine with you!

high class smaller plates dining experience. Really good wines to pair with the creative food. Pretty location for a date night out!

We had an amazing time at Kolonihagen. They accommodated our group of 8 really well (even though our initial reservation had only been for 6 people by my mistake). We ended up taking the 5 course menu which was absolutely breathtaking. Great creations, locally sourced. You can also substitute dishes or go for a vegetarian / vegan menu. Service was really friendly, taking the time to explain every course in detail and even surprising us with a little something at the end. I would definitely recommend this place!

Yelp
What a treat in Oslo! Four of us found a cozy, welcoming atmosphere on a chilly, rainy summer night. Our meals were all inventive and delicious from beginning to end, with clever uses of fresh herbs and organic vegetables and seasonal ingredients. I am vegan and they accommodated me without missing a beat. An interesting wine and beer list round things out. The service was warm and helpful, with everyone speaking excellent English.

Yelp
There are of course many aspects that go to make a good dining experience. Newspaper reviews tend to be broken down into 4-6 aspects. But one of them is not "pace". This is the synergy between the waiter and the kitchen that results in you getting just the right amount of food at just the right time, something Kolonihagen excels at. This on top of delicious locally sourced food, great wine choices, relaxing ambience and friendly professional service. We've been there four times over the last couple of years and can confirm a consistently high quality on all points. I'd give them 5 stars if the tasting menu and wine menu combined were less than 1000,- total, but that's more an Oslo problem than Kolonihagen's.

Yelp
I will dream about this place long after leaving Norway! Every part of my meal here was spectacular. They provide complimentary bread which was full of grains and came with amazing, sweet butter. I got the salad with salmon and the portion was huge! It had the most flavorful mustard sauce and came with onions, radishes, and cottage cheese. Really though, if this existed in America, I'd eat this salad daily. They weren't stingy at all with their portion of salmon which is very different from America. I ended with their carrot cake which had fresh Greek yogurt and honey on top-unexpected and super tasty. The atmosphere here is lovely and the waitstaff is willing to help out anyone who needs a little assistance translating the menu. It was rainy when I came but their outdoor terrace looks like a perfect spot for coffee in the morning.

Yelp
The food is good compared to many other places in Oslo and the ambience is nice. Loved that Stevia is available. Pleasant staff. Clean toilet. Have been here six times and noticed that most of the diners are middle aged women or elder.

Yelp
Loved it. Just the right amount of fancy, and exceptional, interesting, and seasonal food. Farm to table neo-nordic at its best.

Yelp
This was the favorite meal for my wife and I during our 3 days in Oslo. It was recommended by a barista at Tim Wendelboe, and did not disappoint. The food was terrific, and the atmosphere warm, charming, and welcoming on a cold night. I very much enjoyed the tasting menu, and my wife the vegetarian option (she's a carnivore, but couldn't have some of the regular menu options being that she's pregnant). We loved stumbling upon the sort of hidden alley and perusing the attached plant shop as well. We actually saw a rare plant there that we had to track down and order online upon return to NYC.

Yelp
We stumbled upon this place for lunch and after a quick peek into the garden patio, we knew it was the right choice. Well decorated in a natural+trendy way and the bathrooms even smell incredible. The fish burger and mussels were delicious. The white wine we had was a good but flavorful refresher (making me think the wine list was well though out). The food is served on wood blocks and is beautifully plated with accompanying fresh sauces and salads. It's an overall great experience. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because our server was slow and not engaged (which apparently is NOT the norm). For lunch - it's "affordable" - for five people we dropped NOK 1700 including wine, which works to about US $56 per person. Note: recently featured in the NYT 36 hours in Oslo, so watch out it doesn't become a tourist trap :)

Yelp
This was such an odd find for us in Oslo, so glad we stumbled upon it. The whole set up is like visiting a large wooden cabin with all its charms. The food was super delicious, all organically sourced if it's your thing. Great selection of local beers. Perfect date spot with a really friendly staff.

Yelp
Our most interesting meal in Oslo. Some dishes were light and fresh. Others had an almost comfort-food thing going on, but were then elevated beautifully. The polenta was the best I've had. Plus, the wine pairings were thoughtful and then a little playful. And of course the bread is perfect. Everything was just done well, kinda fun, and completely satisfying. Like Oslo itself perhaps. Next time we're in Oslo, this will be our first stop.

Yelp
Even though it was located in the neighborhood where we were staying, we wouldn't have found this place if we didn't come with my friend. It's well hidden. To get there, you have to go through an alley and then it's past a flower shop. The flower shop both hides the place, but also makes the place even prettier. They have a terrasse where you can enjoy the sun and your meal during the warm season but it was a bit cold and cloudy the day we came, so we sat inside. The place is lovely, with candles and fresh flowers on each table, an open kitchen and the staff was very nice. We started with a green smoothie that was made fresh to order and was very tasty. I had the openbread with egg and shrimp to eat and my husband had the openbread with organic smoked salmon. Basically it's a piece of rye bread from their bakery, topped with an enormous amount of shrimp or salmon (whichever you ordered) with some greens and drizzled with some dill mayo or mustard. You won't be able to see the bread unless you start to cut through it. This was amazing. The openbread we've had in the US weren't served that way. In the US it is mostly bread, less toppings. It was really good to finally try real ones. Each dish was very tasty, fresh and filling. We're glad we got to try this place and I will definitely recommend it to anyone coming to visit the city.

Yelp
Locally sourced food, nice ambience, and friendly staff. Go there if you can at 'regular' times. I went on a holiday when I didn't get the legendary bread and butter, there wasn't much of a crowd and I got the feeling that the 'B Team' was running the show. I ordered just one dish - the goat, and that was just okay and a bit too salty for my taste. The reviews seem to be great for the place so perhaps I'll give it another shot when I go to Oslo again.

Yelp
Very friendly staff, and though there was nothing specifically vegetarian on the menu the chef offered to make something up for me; which was fantastic.

Yelp
Super cozy (as we say in norwegian). I can sit here for hours. Very good ecological food, and always a kind of quiet atmosphere. It's hidden, in a backyard, so no cars and trams will disturb you if you sit outside. It's also a super cute flower shop in the backyard, so if you are a flower lover (like me), you will absolutely feel at home.

Yelp
This is a restaurant with great ambience, friendly staff and wonderful suggestions for wine pairings. The server was very accommodating and encouraged us to have a sampling of wines in lieu of just having one. This was a great suggestion and he divided the the samples between my wife and I so that we would both be sober enough to take care of our daughter later that night. Lol! The food however was good but not overly ambitious - especially the dessert. It was tasty but I will not be craving any of the courses ever again. Also, the prix fixe menu is not a daily special. It is whatever is on the regular menu so I failed to see what the whole point of it was.
