The hotel offers a fantastic experience. • Location: Perfectly convenient—just a 3-minute walk to Fukuura Island, making it easy to explore. • Shuttle Service: They provide a handy shuttle to the nearby station, which I’d recommend taking advantage of. • Scenery: The view from the hotel is stunning, like something out of a painting—absolutely a highlight. • Food: The Japanese-Western fusion dinner and Japanese-style breakfast were both delicious and generously portioned, a real treat. • Staff: The team is warm, helpful, and equipped with translators, so communication was a breeze. • Minor Drawback: The hot spring area felt a bit small. Next time, I might opt for the private bath to see if it’s a better fit. Overall, it’s a wonderful stay, and I’d happily return!

We forgot some clothes when we left. The hotel very kindly sent them to the Sendai hotel where we were next staying at no cost. Our clothes were individually packaged and delivered to us the very next day! 🤩 In addition the breakfast was amazing each day. Value for money!

Fantastic location with spectacular views of Fukuurujima and the bridge. Great to be a little bit removed from the madness of the main strip. A little haven of peace up on the hill. Private onsen was so delightful after walking around the town all day. Food was delicious and definitely take the manager’s recommendations on sake - she knows! And the breakfasts were generous and very tasty. Great view from the terrace and it was great to sit out there with your feet in the foot onsen across the bay and the islands. The staff were all incredibly helpful and flexible and assisted us in changing our room. A lovely stay in a picturesque location.

This is a very good authentic Japanese Onsen/Ryokan hotel. It is mainly focused on Japanese guests as almost none of the information is in English. Also staff speaks limited English. They are very friendly and helpful but could be a bit more proactive. We couldn't reserve for dinner and a temple tour as we were not informed. Breakfast was excellent and the private Onsen is nice. The view on the bay is magnificent.

My husband and I really enjoyed our experience staying here! The staff was very friendly and nice, and the facilities were great in helping us relax and enjoy ourselves. Dinner and breakfast were absolutely delicious as well! Would love to visit here again with my family!

Stayed one night in a sea facing 10-tatami Japanese room on the fourth floor. The ryokan was last renovated in 2023 so everything was in a very good condition. Under the fine weather, the view from the room overlooking the small islands was absolutely gorgeous. Scenic and peaceful. The chairs right in front of the window were just perfect to sit down, relax, or may be take a nap. On checking in, I was asked whether I would like to reserve the private spa on payment but to my disappointment the time slot I wanted was not available, and so I missed that experience which set to promise to be so memorable. Anyway, the public bath also offered a beautiful view of the islands. ||Meals served by Kofu-tei were meticulously prepared and of high quality. They paid so much attention from the selection of food to the point when they were served on the table that you can feel their determination in generating customers’ satisfaction. We enjoyed the meals so much. My wife felt so happy that I had booked this ryokan. We will come back again.

One of the best hotel I have ever stayed in Japan! All the staff are amazing! They are so welcoming and well communicated. Members of our party was not able to join us for the dinner due to flight delay. They provided us with a bento with everything we had for regular meal course and it’s freshly made and served in perfect timing. Will recommend to stay at least two nights. The food was very tasty and it gets better for the second night! Some hotel simply just change a few main items and the sides remained the same. But here they surprised us with high quality and various delicacy. For those who don’t eat raw meat, the supplement is also highly recommended. Looking forward to future stay at the hotel and hopefully more than three nights. Thank you and please surprise us again Chef!!

I am so glad I chose Komatsu-kan during my stay in Matsushima. The receptionist was friendly and very helpful. When I told him I am a vegetarian, he kindly informed the kitchen to exclude animal flesh and seafood from my meal. (Usually, hotels ignored my food request, or they just gave me tofu and pickles for my meal.) The next morning, I was so surprised to see my breakfast. I loved the fresh salad, steamed vegetables, over-easy eggs, chawan-mushi, and the pickles even tasted better than before. Then the room surprised me with the pine tree and the beautiful sea view. The next morning I woke up at 4:45 to see the sunrise. Just from my room, I could see the sun slowly rising from the other side of the sea. Stunning! I really enjoyed the little Me time here. Actually, this hotel is well-maintained, and that helps raise the value of it. I also love the fresh little flowers right next to the washing basin. And the people working here are quite ya-sa-shi. They are kind and gentle. Generally speaking, this is a nice place worth staying and relaxing in.
