One of the best hotel I have ever stayed in Japan! All the staff are amazing! They are so welcoming and well communicated. Members of our party was not able to join us for the dinner due to flight delay. They provided us with a bento with everything we had for regular meal course and it’s freshly made and served in perfect timing. Will recommend to stay at least two nights. The food was very tasty and it gets better for the second night! Some hotel simply just change a few main items and the sides remained the same. But here they surprised us with high quality and various delicacy. For those who don’t eat raw meat, the supplement is also highly recommended. Looking forward to future stay at the hotel and hopefully more than three nights. Thank you and please surprise us again Chef!!

Did not enjoy my experience here. Found the room to be very dated with a strong musty smell. The onsen was quite small and only one of the two onsens had a small outdoor section. Dinner was ok and breakfast was good. When we were leaving the next day in the afternoon the hotel would not give us a 4 minute shuttle ride back to train station even though there were 3 shuttles parked with driver and waiting to pickup passengers. Had to walk our luggages back to train station on a hot day. Seems like after you pay they don't care anymore. Poor experience.

I've stayed in this ryokan twice already. What makes me come back is the kaiseiki breafast. Best ao far that i have tried. They have a lounge with afternoon snacks where you can have sake, juice, coffee, tea, sherbet, soup broth, cookies, and crackers. Service was great. They offered me a larger size yukata and slippers. And also offered to store my luggage aftee I checked out. View of the Matsushima bay was fantastic and just a few meters away from fukuurajima. Only downside is that is quite a walk from the restaurants and other places to visit in Matsushima. The onsen was ok. But (for me) water aas not too hot and ambiance was ok compared to other onsen/ryokans i have stayed

I am so glad I chose Komatsu-kan during my stay in Matsushima. The receptionist was friendly and very helpful. When I told him I am a vegetarian, he kindly informed the kitchen to exclude animal flesh and seafood from my meal. (Usually, hotels ignored my food request, or they just gave me tofu and pickles for my meal.) The next morning, I was so surprised to see my breakfast. I loved the fresh salad, steamed vegetables, over-easy eggs, chawan-mushi, and the pickles even tasted better than before. Then the room surprised me with the pine tree and the beautiful sea view. The next morning I woke up at 4:45 to see the sunrise. Just from my room, I could see the sun slowly rising from the other side of the sea. Stunning! I really enjoyed the little Me time here. Actually, this hotel is well-maintained, and that helps raise the value of it. I also love the fresh little flowers right next to the washing basin. And the people working here are quite ya-sa-shi. They are kind and gentle. Generally speaking, this is a nice place worth staying and relaxing in.

Best view in the Matsushima bay. The reception staff can almost always speak very good English, if not they are very helpful nonetheless. Amazing dinner and breakfast, with a superb view of the sunset with our welcome tea and snack when we checked in. The room is beautiful and comfortable. The private onsen provides a prime viewing spot. It is definitely with the splurge!

Best Ryokan experience in Japan in over 3 weeks of traveling. The rooms are incredibly beautiful with a view on the Matsushima bay, the people working there are so sweet and forthcoming and the food incredibly good. My family was in seafood and wagyu beef heaven and I was in vegan heaven 😍 they asked at check-in about food preferences and made a whole 9-course vegetarian / vegan menu for me, that actually filled me up. Really made us feel at home. Would definitely come back.

It felt like 5 stars hotel! Great location, with the most beautiful view from the room. The staff is super polite and helpful. The outdoor onsen was lovely- natural hot bath among black rocks. We highly recommend and look forward to come again
