Komurasaki (Kamitori Center Branch)

One of my favorite ramens I enjoyed in Kyushu. Kumamoto Style ramen It's a tonkotsu ramen with vegetable and chicken broth. It's nice and light. You won't feel heavy after eating it. The decor is super old school and the vibe is like a step back in time. Locals and vistores all done here. We got in right before the lunch rush happened and it was good that we did because it got busy real quick. Definitely worth a visit and a good place to diversify your tast buds from the many available in Kyushu! Especially if you want something with a lighter balanced flavor profile!

This is a good place to try kumamoto ramen. I chose the ōsama ramen and it was good! The broth is not heavy and I liked the noodle texture. However the char siew (chashu) is abit tough and lacks flavour. Maybe they can try marinating it in future.

Very traditional local ramen shop. Not only the taste of ramen but also mood of the shop is precious. Ramen here is typical Kumamoto ramen, tonkotsu soup and black "ma-yu" oil which has aroma of garlic. Please try authentic Kumamoto ramen here :)

When in Kumamoto I had to try their ramen. I ordered the original and unfortunately I wasn’t a fan. The broth was quite fatty and the black chashu (while thickly sliced) were a little dry.

I'm probably not the best person to comment on ramen, as I'm by no means an expert. Still, Komurasaki is one of the most popular ramen spots in Kumamoto and has been here for 70 years. It's showa era, with various signatures on display. Ramen is good and under ¥1000.

A spot for Kumamoto style recommended by the locals. Love how garlicky this bowl was, and how big the pork pieces were. Absolutely recommend - also has an English menu!

This is a really nice place to get the Kumamoto ramen around the Kamitori center. I ordered their special Ousama Ramen, and it tasted so good, with soft pork meat and very nice garlic smell. They even sell their garlic powder separately too.
