"Shopping for Art and Souvenirs Both Hilo and Kona have quaint downtown areas with small shops and cafes. Kona has been updated more recently to accommodate travelers who predominantly stay on the Kona side of the Big Island. With coffee shops, restaurants like the Kona Canoe Club and Mahina Pizza, and shops including the Pacific Fine Art Gallery and ABC Stores, you can spend an entire day browsing for Aloha shirts, art, and souvenirs before enjoying the sunset from one of Kailua-Kona's many beachside restaurants."

A authentic rustic chunk of Kona history; I love this place!

Very touristy - caters to the disembarked cruise ship people. But there are some cute spots.

Such a gem! Lovely dinner, super nice staff and amazing sunset views. The cocktails were excellent! Highly recommend.

There are some shops open. We went to the Kona Inn Restaurant and bar. We go there for the mud pie and that's what we did. It's always touches our sweet tooth. A nice large slice at just under $15. The bar and restaurant is beautiful with their wonderful wood floors and bar. Try them. The food prices are too much for us. Same with the drinks, but the views of the ocean and atmosphere are great!

Simply a beautiful location in the heart of downtown Kailua-Kona. The only disappointment is the rundown condition of the Kona Inn building itself.

Google
Cool place, lots of individual shops. On the back side of the plaza is a beautiful view of the water. Carefully shop and go to multiple places before purchasing anything. You may find the same item cheaper elsewhere. You might even be able to negotiate some prices.

Yelp
Shops along the ocean side of Ali road. Surf shops, ukulele shops and random gift shops. There's a lot of empty store fronts too. This shopping plaza was probably bustling back in the day. Needs more tenants to fill it up again.

Yelp
Ooof! Well past time for a remodel. Perhaps that would bring more visitors and vendors to the shops. The ABC store at the north end and the Honolua shop in the middle were nice, with a bunch of empty stores and souvenirs that were made in China. It's a shame that the owners and city are not making more of an effort with arguably the best real estate in Kailua-Kona.

Yelp
Not worth the trip-- half the trinkets in these shops are cheap tacky beach knick knacks and the other half are the same items you can find across the street for more than double the price. I spent the morning at the Kona Farmers Market in the large parking lot across the street (southeast corner of Ali'i Dr. & Hualalai Rd.) and I got a few things I thought were cool, including a bracelet with small lava rock beads and three wood beads in the middle. When I went down to this shopping center, I saw the exact same bracelet (I was wearing the one I bought, so I compared them) for $17. The one I got at the market was $7. And it wasn't just this item. I kept seeing wood bowls & dishes similar to those at the farmers' market with huge markups. And a couple of the boutiques sell crystals, too. Clearly they're for people who don't know what they're buying because they prices were obscene. There were smoky quartzes the could fit in my hand (smaller then the one I got back home for $25), but at this shop they were $45. All in all, head over to the Kona Farmers Market instead. Ali'i Marketplace about 10 minutes South on Ali'i Drive is also a great place. There are great places to shop here in Kona-Kailua, but this shopping center is not one of them.

Yelp
The night security deserves so much praise! They are so cool, and they work so hard to keep us all safe. I appreciate them so much. I wish I knew who their manager was bc I'd personally call them to compliment their excellent employees. Id also ask them to make sure to give them all a raise in pay! They absolutely deserve it. Mahalo to all you night security guards!!!

Yelp
Fantastic! This whole waterfront strip (8 acres) is on the market. It needs new blood and a big refresh as it currently is about the most drab place you can imagine. Looking forward to seeing what happens next here. https://www.us.jll.com/en/investorcenter/retail/kona-inn-shopping-village-kona-bay-hotel-kailuakona-hi-unitedstates

Yelp
Great spot for souvenir shopping, dinning and cafes. Cute boutiques for women and children, where you can find Hawaiian and causal dresses and more. The cafe I bought a berry smoothies had free coffee tasting and sold other Hawaiian good such as chocolates and pastries. I wish I would have gone here first before booking the luau dinner show online. The same dinner show was about $45 cheaper purchasing it at a booth in the shopping village.

Yelp
Staff is friendly, store is clean, prices are somewhat reasonable, variety of items, sizes for kids and adults.

Yelp
The staff at ABC Store is warm, friendly, and welcoming. It was close to the time the store was closing and they didn't mind at all us being there and shopping still. They were happy to help us with a smile. An item must've been missed during the bagging of our stuff at checkout. We didn't realize until we returned home from our trip which wasn't in Hawaii. I called and let them know what happened. Mona was extremely helpful in assisting me. She said she would be happy to mail me the pair of earrings that got misplaced. I gave her my info, and she texted me on Monday when she was sending it out to share the tracking info. When the mail arrived, I realized she had surprised us with a box of chocolates along with the earrings. That was so sweet and kind. I texted her and thanked her. The level of service and appreciation of our patronage is unmatched. Shopping here is a true pleasure.

Yelp
If you are on your morning walk, stay clear of the coffee shop unless you want a hard sell by the owner! I purchased a 1lb bag of coffee for $63. This is a "very special coffee" . I thought it was a bit pricy, however I was told how special it is and only use 1tsp for 8 cups, ok, I'll try it. Then I was asked if I wanted a cup of coffee. I thought since I paid such a high price, it was complementary, NOT!!! So my bill was $70.00 for 1lb of coffee & 1 med cup. I get home and use 1tsp for 8 cups. UNBELIEVABLE!! It is so week, I had to run it through the coffee maker twice & it is still weak. Be ware in tourist areas!!!

Yelp
This was a stop our first night in town, as we got the lay of the land and decided what was for dinner. Overall, the shopkeepers were very friendly and the layout was fun to walk through. You can detour out the back of the shops to grassy palm tree lined areas for some great sunset views. Other than that, I only noticed a small handful of unique shops. A lot of it was more on the touristy souvenir tip-which is fine-just not my thing. The center needs a little bit of TLC and bit more quality shops. It's a nice way to stroll through town but not a must see destination unless you're specifically on a souvenir finding shopping trip.

Yelp
This is a nice place to stroll through if on a souvenir hunt, shirts, hats, Hawaiian decor, swim gear, skin care is one I strongly recomend you avoid, try to sell you thousands in creams & led devices, Tresor Rare has bad reviews everywhere you look. There are a few restaurants with ocean views and enjoy a lunch ir beverage.

Yelp
I was very happy to have strolled through the Kona Inn Shopping Center. The children's shop had everything I needed for my 6 grandchildren. The shop owner was extremely helpful in getting all the correct sizes and styles for each of them. Thank you for making my shopping experience so great. I'll be back there on my next trip to Kona. Yelp
A mile long, tops, the Kona Inn Shopping Village is a family-friendly area on the beach featuring a million shopping areas with pretty much anything you'd want: places to eat (including, for the less adventurous, large chains like the Hard Rock Cafe, Outback Grill, and Bubba Gump), places to buy clothes, souvenirs, tchotchkes, jewelry, and art, tourist info, scuba rentals, hotels, dentists, tattoo parlors, a volleyball pit with bleachers, realty offices, etc., not to mention a church from the 1800s and the original royal palace. Parking can be tricky, but there are a few big lots in the area. Drivers are very good about letting pedestrians cross the street, but you'll still get brahs hanging out of their cars yelling. Police do patrol on foot, if that really worries you. This is a great place to go if you're unsure what you want to eat, because you're in the middle of a ton of options. Despite the couple historical sites, there's a lot of gimmick what with everything wrapped up so neatly and cleanly, so I'm not positive just how much of the clientele is actually locals; this area is a poor choice if you're looking to avoid tourists. And it's tough getting ice cream there after 9.

Yelp
First of all don't miss the Kona Inn and / or the Canoe Club (same shopping center) while you're in Kona. They make the best (strong but not too sweet) Mai tais in town! They both have fabulous Hawaiian ambiance though guests who visit us here in Kona talk about the Kona inn much more than the canoe club. Our guests "have to" go to the Kona Inn before they leave. It has that " certain something". The canoe club however (owned by the Kona inn) has a fish platter dinner that I "need" to have monthly! The fresh fish, the rice pilaf and veggies are great. The tartar sauce with this meal is to die for! The food at the Kona inn is "fun food" at the bar area- where we always go. The dinner area menu is very good but more pricey. We, personally, would choose another pricey restaurant. Though in truth. you can't go too wrong with dinner at the Kona Inn! It's not THAT expensive! The ambience and the drinks, I think, are why most people love this place. There are 3-4 shops in this center we frequent but, for us , the draw for the shopping center is that it is a nice place to stroll. It's part of the Downtown Kailua-Kona experience! Walking Alii drive is fun! We do it weekly! One Sunday a month this street is closed off with artists and food booths. Enjoy Kona!!

Yelp
Must take the time- to stroll. Nice walking right next to the ocean. There is some really cute shops. They have souvenirs and some places to chow down. Enjoy the local community and historic Kailua Kona town. Sometimes the beauty of our island is taken for granted. Support the local business- Not a far walk at all.

Yelp
This is just what I was expecting from Hawaii. Over a dozen shops with things you can bring back for your souvenir loving friends and fam. Also random places to buy nice things and places to buy cheap. Try to buy local. They have plenty of unique places to eat too. Forgo that McD's and try something different.

Yelp
Don't be deceived by the tours offers here. We wasted $300 ($150 each) for a lava tour and we didn't even get near to the lava, instead Brandi the tour guide show us the lava thru binoculars. Really, binoculars? If you wanna see the volcano, lava tube, craters, and lava flow just do it yourself. Get a rental car and drive to Hawaii Volcano National Park. It's $25 dollars to get in (free for the military). You don't need ticket to get to all the attractions here like what the tour operators claim. This will saved you more money. And thank me later!

Yelp
It's the Kona version of San Francisco's Pier 39! Tons of shops to find your 5 for $20 I heart Hawaii shirts and pooka shells.

Yelp
Old but fun shopping center with a mix of stores and places to eat. I've been visiting this shopping area since I was a child, starting about 38 years ago. I feel like I grew up in the Fun Factory arcade that used to be there forever ago. We recommend the Kona Inn and Kona Canoe Club for eating (owned by the same company actually) and the ABC store for incidentals.

Yelp
This is your typical tourist area to pick up cheesy souvenirs. There are also places to eat on the water with beautiful views. We walked around but didn't buy anything. It does need some renovating. I would say it's worth taking a stroll through, even for locals like us. We walked through once and probably won't on our next visit.

Yelp
This shopping center is a unique blend of proprietors. It has the clothing, knick knacks, artwok, and food of tourist shopping. What is nice is the personality. Based on our interactions with shop keepers, they were glad we were there and interested in us as guests. Overall the pricing was good especially for being in a key area and several deals were found.
