This place is a Chinatown staple for fresh ingredients you can use for cooking at home. They distribute their products to a lot of other businesses (restaurants and super markets) in the NYC area. If you come in the morning, you can enjoy their breakfast options: they have stir fried ho fun noodles and noodle soup. They also have freshly made Chinese donuts (you tiao 油条), rice noodles (cut in different widths, plus the full sheets!), endless varieties of tofu, and seitan. The things I always get here are their pressed tofu, pressed five spiced tofu, and the freshly made rice noodles for stir frying at home. I can also vouch for their seitan, tofu, soy milk (ask them to add sugar if you’d like!), and Chinese donuts. The Chinese donuts are a steal at only $2 each; they’re long and huge! And they also have the right texture of being crisp on the outside and slightly chewy on the inside. The service is touch and go; some people are super friendly and others are a bit gruff. But it’s worth it for the quality of the fresh ingredients!

Excellent fresh rice noodle rolls to use for dishes at home. They also freeze well which is great cause the portions are generous! They also have soy milk, tofu, bean sprouts, etc. The employees are also super helpful making suggestions on how to cook things if needed!

I came by this place by chance, I noticed wonderful bags of rice noodles! I instantly bought one and brought it home and poured fished sauce and ate it like any other Asian person would probably, we buy food and pour fish sauce over it... Better yet, go to the nearby Asian store and buy some plates and fish sauce and eat it right there from the start! Wonderful fresh tofu and other ingredients for home cooking, I will definitely go back and buy some more rice noodles and then make some homemade "Banh Cuon" google search that~

Delicious and fresh handmade tofu, soy milk, and noodles. The tofu is really fluffy and flavorful - didn’t even know there was a fresh tofu place until I stumbled upon here. It looks daunting from the outside, especially if you don’t know Chinese. But once you come in, you’re welcomed kindly and shown around. The ladies working here are absolutely lovely. It is clearly a historic joint and a local favorite. Instead of buying machine made tofu or soy milk from an unidentifiable source at Trader Joe’s, please consider supporting a humble and hardworking local business that makes it fresh! Some of the pictures that users have attached to this business are inaccurate - they don’t have barbecued meats hanging in front of the window, I believe that is next door.

Best place to buy tofu would be here, at Tung Woo! They make their tofu from scratch and everything that they make is from their store. Some of the things I like to get here is actually their soymilk, herbal tea, and tofu, since it’s really cheap and it’s worth what you are paying. Even though this place is small, they always have a long line of loyal customers waiting to buy their tofu and other soy and non-soy products. They go through so many buckets of tofu each day. This place has been here for as long I can remember, which is good, so it’s a sign of their company’s prosperity! Because of the economy though, prices has gone up, but still not as bad, and lines remain to be long so you know that are still running strong. Even with the inflation, I don’t mind since I’m considered their loyal fan as well, and local businesses like this needs support from us! They are the only company that I know of, that makes the best tofu for the Chinatown community. Here’s a tip: if you are buying the drinks (soy or herbal), get the ones that are in the quart, it’s only $1.75, so don’t worry about feeling thirsty! Once you’ve tried them, you’ll come back for more…believe me, I know!

I tasted here their herbal tea - fantastic. Even bougt one as a souvenir from my trip to New York.
