A heartfelt thank you to the helpful and compassionate staffs at Kong Meng San who patiently guided us through every step in settling the arrangements for our deceased family member. From explaining the procedures to assisting with the temporary tablet placement for the 49 days, food offerings, and monk prayer services — everything was handled with great care and understanding. Despite our last-minute requests, the staffs were calm, supportive, and efficient in ensuring everything was properly arranged according to temple customs. It is also reassuring to know that the temple is open every day, including public holidays, which makes it convenient for family members to visit and offer prayers during this period. Their professionalism and kindness brought comfort to our family during this difficult time. We are truly grateful for their assistance and guidance throughout the process. 🙏

Very scenic place. While inside this monastery I could hardly believe I was still in Singapore! Remember to take off shoes when entering certain places. The canteen here was also really nice! Very packed during lunch hours but full of affordable vegetarian options! Will visit again.

Came here for the light transference ceremony . It starts from 6 pm and last till 9pm . It’s a ceremony where we will get a candle and writes wishes on a card . There after we will chant prayers led by the monks and light up our candles . Then the monks will lead us around on a walk around the temple while holding the candles and chanting prayers . A total enlightening and purifying experience.

Very serene feeling when at the Temple. The facilities are well maintained and orderly. Gardens and water features aplenty.

Visited on eve of Vesak Day 2025 to observe the extensive celebrations. It was a very humbling experience. We stood by the three step one bow procession and participated in the bathing of buddha. We received blessings on a trinket. We also made wishes on cards in the shape of leaves, and visited the stores - there was cooked food and drinks, dry foodstuff, prayer and decorative material. It was bustling, crowded and hot. The volunteers at the Hall of Compassion were amazing, proactively helping us around. We truly appreciated their guidance and support! There were numerous donation boxes everywhere to make it easy for visitors to support the temple’s mission. On hindsight, it would have been better to come via public transport as warned, as only drop offs were allowed. We had to park more than one km away. The site is large and hilly, so there are many steps to navigate and may not be so easy for elderly or those with walking issues. The website information about Vesak Day activities was most helpful, allowing us to plan ahead and navigate effectively. Thank you so much for the splendid organisation.🙏🏼

Burning paper offerings for deceased loved ones is a Chinese folk belief, not the teachings of the Buddha. Burning Rebirth Money ( 往生钱 ) is deliberately destroying the name of Amitabha Buddha and his mantra, creating really Bad Karma. One does not need any “money” or fake money to go to Amitabha Buddha’s Pureland. Do not be deluded by this False View that burning and destroying the Buddha’s name and mantra will get you or anyone there. I hope this place will stop the sale and burning of Rebirth Money ( 往生钱 )and enlighten others too.

A peaceful and serene Buddhist sanctuary, perfect for relaxation and reflection. The tranquil atmosphere, beautiful architecture, and lush gardens create a calming space to connect with nature and find inner peace. Highly recommend for anyone seeking a moment of quiet and mindfulness.

Yelp
We were here for my uncle's 49 day ceremony after his death. I'm told this is like the Orchard Road of crematoriums - it's new, big, and apparently very expensive. The grounds are also huge - my cousin said it took him 2 hours to tour the entire place. Wrt deaths, it seems like things are very efficiently run. I hate to say it, but it seemed more business-like than religious. The place is busy on the weekend, probably because the crematorium is not yet full so theres a lot of funerals/additions. By comparison, when we visited my grandparents' Hall of ancestors in the temple next door (which I understand is full), we were the only ones in the whole place.

Yelp
For the past eight years, the monastery had been offering vegetarian steamboat during chinese new year festive season. For this year, it was offering a package called Ji Xiang Vegetarian Steamboat 吉祥素食火锅 at S$168 per table which included Vegetarian Steamboat 素食火锅 with Vegetarian Yu Sheng 素食愉生 and could serve up to 8 persons. This package was available from 21 Jan 2017 to 11 Feb 2017 except 24 Jan & 30 Jan 2017. Dining slots : 9.30am - 11.15am, 11.30am - 1.15pm Please call the hotline 6849 5333 to reserve the package. Meal would be served at Ven Hong Choon Memorial Hall, Level 2, Dining Hall. It was easy to find our table in the huge dining hall as the table had signage of the name of the person who reserved it on it. There were staffs around to assist us in finding the table. We were served hot ginger tea when seated. We started the meal with vegetarian yusheng. It was a refreshing although it was a tab drier than the usual version. Next we had the steamboat which was filled with assorted vegetables such as bean curd puff, dried bean curd, cabbage and taro in it. We also had plates of tofu, black fungus, glass noodle (Tang Hoon), wantons, mock meatballs, mock fishballs, mock crab meatballs, golden mushrooms, shiitake mushrooms, xiao bai chai, and cai xin to add into the already full steamboat. The soup base was very flavourful and light. It was made with juice left from the mushrooms and the shredded vegetables used in the yusheng, which was why the soup was naturally sweet. The staffs around were helpful in clearing the excess cutlery and refilling the soup base. The food were more then enough for 8 adults. But if that was enough, there was porridge, mee sua and mee siam available too at the counter.
