First time in Munich, I was looking for a German place and I came across this restaurant. It was perfect! The service was excellent, super polite and friendly with me. Took the time to explain every dish. The food was delicious! I had the dampling soup, that broth… so good! The Camembert salad super yummy! And the schnitzel perfect! Totally recommend it!

Google
They have a nice outdoor space, but overall I didn't love it. The goulash was decent but nothing to write home about. My son did really like the curry wurst though. I read they had a good whiskey selection but they didn't have any German whiskey. The waiter also forgot about us multiple times. I would have preferred one of the bigger Munich beer halls.

Google
A local restaurant that serves quality. The waiter is very friendly and took the time to explain the menu. Ordered a wiener schnitzel and a steak. Both are excellent in taste and preparation. Personally for me this was the best wiener schnitzel I ever had, crispy, thin and tasty.

Google
Very good place to eat- it is mentioned as best schnitzel in the city - good putside space to sit when nice weather. I went there 4 evenings when I was in Munchen . Tested their soup as well - it was as it had to be - hot for the temperature and a bit spicy as I like it . Goat cheese salad was perfect, schnitzel was very good- what else I tried - the steak is good and finally I had the deer ragout which was also very good. The menu is handwritten but the guys help you when you can not read it . If you want to go the best thing is to reserve as the place can get full .

We came because we read that the bartender is a whisky expert. When we entered we got the feeling like we didn’t belong. Very cold and unwelcoming. We were seated though. The menu is handwritten in script font and then photo copied. Makes it very hard to read let alone Google Translate. When asked about local whisky we were told it doesn’t exist when we know that Slyrs is a German whisky. Bartender used the characteristic “smooth” as an opposite of “peated” which is how you treat newbies to whisky. There was no attempt to talk to us or share his actual knowledge of whisky which is what they’re known for. We left without trying food because we felt so unwelcome. The server waited for us to say “keep the change” on a €16 bill paid with a €20. I’m sure it’s a local favourite but as visitors to Munich we did not feel welcome or would recommend.

We had a really good time here. We especially liked the Catch of the Day whole fish. Great whiskey sour with egg white. Great service. Waiter explained hand-written menu to us.

Wow! This time you CAN believe the hype. Two thumbs up. A true Bavarian culinary treat for the senses.

Google
Delicious meal. Very welcoming and helped translate the hand written menu.

Yelp
Ok truth be told - we can speak no German and this wonderful place was the closest we felt to a bit out of place. However ... the wonderful and friendly waiter got the point across and suggested some AWESOME local dishes and delicious wine in a romantic small place bistro. Try it!!

Yelp
Highly recommend. I tried to visit another nearby location solo a Friday night and was rudely turned away by staff who could not accommodate one person more apparently... So, I found this on Yelp and headed right over. The bartender easily sat me at a small table for two and a friendly waiter came over to make menu recommendations in English for me. I tried the warm goat cheese salad and absolutely loved it. Fresh veggies, delicious light mustard dressing, and two small toasted pieces of bread with warm and gooey goat cheese. Noms! Easily one of the best I've ever had. I was brought warm, fresh bread to the table with oil. The bread was very good. Easily could've had just that and salad. I wanted to try a few other things but the waiter said they were known for their schnitzel so I went with that. Glad I did. The veal was a delicious texture and the breading was top notch. I love the cranberry dressing in Germany for a savory and sweet flavor and the potato salad was fresh and tart and delicious. I saw creme brûlée and affogato on the menu for dessert but skipped it bc I had birthday cake waiting for me in my room. Took a small box of leftovers for him and was brought a few ginger gummies with the bill. Prices are fair and service was stellar. Polite and friendly and accommodating. Stark contrast to the first place I tried. It's close to Marienplatz as well and nearby to toms of easily walkable stuff in the heart of the city. I'm bringing my fiancée back in a few days when he joins me here. He will love it!

Yelp
Awesome restaurant. Wonderful staff. The food was to die for. Felt like home. We ate there twice during a three day stay in Munich. Not to be missed.

Yelp
This is a nice little neighborhood restaurant. We don't speak German very well and the menu is a bit hard to read since it is hand-written but the wait staff was helpful. We asked for the kinds of things we might like and they helped us find them. The portions were quite generous and filling. We rented an apartment nearby so it was nice to stop in at a place just up the street that wasn't a tourist spot for a late dinner on our way back from being tourists. They even let us take the leftovers home. :)

Yelp
We stumbled upon this place and it truly was a hidden gem. The menu is in German however our bartender happily read off the menu for us in English and provided some recommendations. The caramelized goat cheese salad was wonderful and the best salad I've ever ordered. The steak with mushrooms had a lovely herb butter that enhanced the plate. Friendly staff and great food.

Yelp
This came recommended from a local as his favorite restaurant for 10 years. There is no English menu, but the waiters are super nice and will make recommendations. The goat cheese salad is worth eating! Dressed so well and the goat cheese is toasted on toast drizzled with honey. Had their green pea soup which was outstanding. Lovely and cozy restaurant that I can't wait to come back to

Yelp
We saw this post on Yelm and decided to try it. I'm so glad we did. We had the shrimp salad and the shrimp were huge. We also had currywurst, schnitzels and bolognese. The waiter was great and translated the menu for us. They were all amazing! If we are back in the area, we will make sure to stop.

Yelp
We were just out wondering around with no data on our phones and found the 1# spot in Munich! Yah to us! All the tables were taken, so we sat at the bar. The bar tender was very helpful with recommendations. If it wasn't so late in our trip when we found this place we would have went back several times. I wish I could post pictures of how wonderful the dishes looked. I got the schnitzel and my husband had the German goulash. Wunderbar!

Yelp
One of the many traditional yet modern eateries that munich has to offer. Cosy comfortable, feel at home atmosphere that offers traditional and well as modern cuisine . Paired with delicious wines from all over the world made our evening perfect. We were welcomed to our reserved table by a friendly and humorous young man. Immediately on arrival we were offered house made bread with olive oil . The antipasti starter was delicious , consisted of grilled mushrooms, artichokes, shrimp in a cocktail sauce, lentil salad and Wakame. The carpaccio (beef) was served with rucola salad and had an awesome dressing and was well seasoned. Each one of us was super satisfied with our Mains. The Argentinien Steak was perfect Medium-rare , the green pepper gravy was the perfect condiment. The pike filet was seasoned and grilled to perfection. So was the in house made traditional Matjeshering with a salad as side. The highlight of our evening was the Maracuja Parfait! Sooo good that I couldn't resist ordering it once more . Thumbs up to the attentive staff who recommended us the complimenting wines to make our evening a perfect one. This is one place I definitely will return to very soon!

Yelp
If you like Scotch you should visit Königsquelle, no matter where you are from and how much (or little) experience you have with whisky. I went here several times during a recent stay in Munich. I only ate once. While I did enjoy the food, what kept me coming back was the Scotch. The best way to drink here is to sit at the bar and ask the bartender about their selection. It is very large, includes very high-quality and rare Scotches as well as more common malts, and the bartender knows them. He is knowledgable and enthusiastic, and is happy to take preferences and price points into account when recommending options. The more you know the more he'll be able to tell you, but I also saw him work well with beginners. (I only came when the main bartender was there, so I can't comment on the midweek person.) They also have some interesting liqueurs you can ask about. The bourbon selection is okay, and the rye selection is minimal. They also make cocktails, have wine and beer on tap. In the summer there are tables out front. Inside is smaller and is cozy rather than airy. There is a TV, but when I was there it was always muted.

Yelp
We visited Königsquelle near the end of our trip to Germany, having already enjoyed a lot of local food and seeking something easy and comfortable. This place turned out to be a great find. At first glance the handwritten menu was intimidating given our limited knowledge of the German language, but our server was friendly and spoke excellent English. He walked us through the menu and gave recommendations. The meal was great--one of our best during the trip. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming. We'll be back next time we're in Munich.

SY C.

Yelp
Extremely friendly staffs, from bartender to waiters. Everyone is friendly and helpful with the menu even if you don't speak German. Their menu is handwritten so most likely they change it often based of the ingredients they can get locally. Great wine and food. Very cozy too. Suitable place to bring your date too. This gem is a great find if you want to enjoy good food and drinks.

Yelp
Immediately greeted when we walked in and sat us at a cozy table for two. It was fairly empty but there was only one spot at the bar, making it impossible for us to sit there for drinks. Our server offered to read us the menu since we do not speak German. Once we stated we were not eating the man who sat us immediately came over and told us to look at the time and we shouldn't be sitting at a table if we were not eating and basically told us to leave. We are paying customers and won't come back again due to the fact that we had to sit outside in the cold to drink our beer so they could accommodate customers who weren't even there.

Conner S.

Yelp
A wonderful and cozy place. Very impressed that the menu, which was written in German, was explained to us in English. The beer and wine was good. And we also shared a wonderful Goat cheese and honey appetizer.

Jennifer M.

Yelp
We chose the restaurant because it was at the corner of the street from our hotel. And so glad for it. Fantastic atmosphere. They did not have an English menu so the waitress was kind enough to read us the entree options. Both the pasta with scampi and pumpkin risotto were lovely. And I especially appreciated the good glass of red wine. Not so easy to come by in the heart of beer country.

Yelp
Don't miss this place. The food atmosphere and people are great! I went here a few times when I was in Munich and it was wonderful comfortable and reasonably priced. Not far from the Isador gate or the Munich museum.

Marco S.

Yelp
Excellent gastrobar, it was full of locals and they accommodate us at the bar. There we had interaction with the owner who was running the actual bar and the business. Great guy, help us with the translation, some menu recommendation and great beer. We had a delicious meal and great time... highly recommended if you are in Munich!!

Bill S.

Yelp
Very nice informal restaurant. Terrific roasted fish. And very friendly service particularly at the bar.

Qype User (okoet…)

Yelp
Ok, time for the first English review of the Königsquelle in Qype. I have to admit that this is now for more than 10 years my favourite place in Munich, so the rating is probably a bit biased. Frequently changing seasonal menu with some standards. Staff is fluent in English and very professional. If you go there after 6:30pm it is better to have a table reservation. When not sure what to choose: take a Wiener Schnitzel and have an Augustiner Edelstoff. Close your dinner with fine Single Malt. Always a save bet.

Yelp
This place used to be good but the quality of food and service has become poor to say the least. Don't waste your time or money.

Van D.

Yelp
Though the food and single malts are good, the arrogant entitlement of management and the wait staff ruin every meal. If they would just stop being so full of themselves this place would become a regular destination.
