Condé Nast Traveler's Alternative Bucket List

"Skip the tourist traps in Dubrovnik and get a boat out to sleepy Sipan island. Right at the tip of the peninsula, at the edge of a sun-scorched horseshoe bay, there’s a tiny restaurant called Kod Marka. There’s just one waiter, only a handful of tables, no sign, no menu—just whatever was plucked fresh out the sea that morning, drizzled with olive oil and lemon and served on a huge silver platter. Paper tablecloths flutter in the salty breeze and delightful owner Dino brings over jug after jug of his homegrown wine. Come off-season, and there’s nothing else here but a few beaten up Citroëns and a pair of old men dozing quietly on a bench nearby."

What an excellent experience!! Wonderful food, good service! We did not get a menu, just a question if we wanted meat or fish. Then a suggestion of entrees and main. Everything tasted amazing!!

Lovely service and delicious food. The octopus cakes are amazing and the sea bream was perfectly cooked. The price seems a bit high for being right at the ocean, we pay similar prices in Berlin. It would have also been nice to know that the bread costs 2 euros… overall would recommend though!

The octopus cakes were wonderful 😋 the prawns were perfectly cooked, and the Sea Bass, well I can honestly say it was the best I have ever had, better even than the one I had at Rick Steins Fish Restaurant. Very simple but delicious food. And watching the sun go down was a nice way to end a rather good day..😄

First rate food and service in a beautiful location away from the hustle of Dubrovnik. The octopus fritters and whole roast grouper were standouts. Highly recommend!

Wonderful location and we had an excellent dinner. The staff is very friendly and all dishes were so well prepared. The wine was chosen by the gentleman who served us and it went down very nicely so we had 2 bottles. Thank you for my liquor 🥃 at the end of the dinner, although had no idea what I was given but it was delicious 😋. Highly recommended this restaurant if you are around the area. Grilled prawns, octopus "burger" and grilled fish were delicious!

Have a love/hate relationship with this restaurant when sailing. Lots to love. Great mooring balls. Good service. Octopus cakes outstanding. Hates. Every main is served with mushy potatoes and chard. We politely asked for fries and salad and was told the chef wouldn’t like that as it wasn’t traditional. I’ve been eating in Croatia for 20 years and mushy potatoes and chard are not that traditional 😂. Please offer a choice of sides at these high island prices… Otherwise great

Best meal I had in Croatia. Service is 10/10. Fish is 10/10. And the octopus cakes are 100/10.
