We stayed at Konokono Beach Resort for 10 nights as a couple, on a half-board basis, in a Sea View Villa, and overall it was a very relaxing experience—ideal for rest, but not for everyone.
Accommodation
Our private Sea View Villa was absolutely beautiful and very spacious. Each villa is completely independent, offering great privacy, and comes with a lovely small private pool.
The bathroom was outstanding: a very large walk-in shower for two people, each with their own shower head, double sinks, and a very practical dressing room that cleverly hides suitcases and clothes.
The canopy bed was extremely comfortable, as were the pillows. The villa also featured a leather sofa, two elegant chairs, a TV with streaming included, and everything was decorated with hand-carved wood, very authentic and tasteful.
There was also a large terrace, perfect for relaxing.
Housekeeping was excellent, with cleaning every morning and turndown service every evening. A small fridge was provided, and bottled water was offered daily, with a very pleasant taste.
Resort & Facilities
With only about 50 villas, the resort is small and peaceful, truly human-scale. There is a large main pool and a beautiful beach. Breakfast is served every morning, and dinner is either buffet or à la carte.
Food & Half Board
While the food quality was decent, 10 days felt a bit long and repetitive, especially for dinner. Portions are sometimes limited, which can be frustrating.
A disappointment was the fruit juices, which seemed diluted with water—we were never sure if they were made from fresh fruit.
If you stay in half board, definitely bring snacks for lunch. On-site prices are very high: $20 for a pizza and $4 for a soda, while outside the resort the same soda costs around $1.
Beach & Environment
The beach is pretty, but at low tide there is a lot of seaweed, making swimming difficult—we didn’t swim there at all.
When walking along the beach, local vendors approach you frequently, which can be tiring.
You’ll also see small monkeys near the villas. They are generally harmless, but if you carry food (especially bananas), they may try to grab it. There are also small lizards inside the rooms, completely harmless—but if you dislike animals, be aware.
Staff & Atmosphere
The staff is friendly and smiling, making an effort, though service is fairly basic. The Maasai staff members were particularly warm and pleasant.
The transfer from the airport takes about 1 hour 30 minutes, with a mix of paved and dirt roads. The final road to the hotel is quite bumpy. Along the way, you clearly see the poverty of the local population, which is striking.
The hotel is very isolated—you cannot go anywhere on foot, as there is absolutely nothing nearby.
Important to Know
This hotel is not suitable for children or teenagers. There are no activities, no entertainment, no animation, day or night. Even adults looking for music, nightlife, or social activities will be disappointed.
We honestly didn’t understand why some families were there—children and teens we saw looked extremely bored.
Final Verdict
Konokono Beach Resort offers beautiful private villas, great comfort, and total tranquility. However, it is extremely quiet, isolated, and purely designed for rest and relaxation.
For us, 10 days was a bit too long and I don’t think we will come back.
Perfect for couples seeking silence and rest.
Not recommended for families, teenagers, or travelers looking for activities or atmosphere.
