Very pretty winery and you can see the most beautiful view of Long Island sound. There was live music and place was gorgeous!

Fantastic facility. Delightful wines. Good staff. Great grounds. I am a wine aficionado and these wines give me something to savor and seek out the sensations. The Anonometer blends are worthy of deep consideration. So too the white Cabernet Franc - sublime.

Today was my first time ever going to a vineyard so I don’t have much to base the experience on but Kontokosta is a beautiful venue located right on the water. The indoor area is spacious with different seating options but also has a cozy feel to it. I ordered the elderberry spritz and it was super refreshing! Since it was wintertime we weren’t outside for too long but I would definitely recommend taking a walk down to the water to soak in the views, we went during the sunset and it was gorgeous. My one recommendation would be allowing guests to order a bottle of wine instead of having to buy individual glasses. Overall a really positive experience and the staff was super friendly!

Wow beautiful! As you drive up to the vineyard you are greeted with rows and rows of vines. The large open space of the winery was nice and had two floors as well. There were some tables with benches and others were standing room only. They have a good wine selection as well as Greenport beers for people with different tastes. They have a huge outdoor lawn space to walk or sit and they have a nice view of the sound.

This vineyard has great views and an amazing room to enjoy wine. This was one of the most impressive locations my wife and I visited on our April winery trip to the North Fork. We really liked the ability to order from the counter right away and get what we wanted vs. having table service. This is a great place to visit when the weather is warm and it’s one of the few(and maybe the only) vineyards that offers an ocean view in the area.

Favorite winery on Long Island. Beautiful location, excellent service and delicious wines. Was very busy this past Saturday, they could have used some help behind the bar.

This is such a beautiful spot for a wine tasting. They have gorgeous tall glass windows so you can look far out as you’re wine tasting. They also have tasting on their back patio. The other side overlooks their vineyard. They had a few different wine tasting options and small snacks. We had a chance to visit in 2023 and could not wait to come back the next fall season. Their wine selection is broad the taste simply amazing. Kontokosta Winery offers a unique tasting experience with stunning views of the Long Island Sound--you can even see Connecticut while sipping your wine! We tried the red wine flight (served in quirky shot glasses), and the Cabernet Franc was the standout--delicious and reasonably priced around $35. Beautiful setting, great wine, and a perfect spot to relax and take in the scenery. Definitely check it out if the weather is nice!

This property is gorgeous. It literally is right on the water and you can walk to the edge of the property to see the beach. The wines are definitely more elevated compared to others on the island. The anemometer varieties are fantastic but my favorite was probably the cab franc with its tobacco taste. So good. Food is a la carte which is kind of odd. You pay for cheese, great, but if you want crackers with it, you have to buy that too. You want a second cheese? Extra. Almonds? Extra. When they brought it out we realized why it was so expensive: it looks like they gave us the entire box of crackers and an entire block of cheese! For just myself and my husband it was definitely a lot... We left half the crackers- very wasteful! There has to be a better way... Overall, a lovely spot. Probably the best wines on the island.

This gorgeous winery in the North Fork sits on the edge of Long Island Sound offering breathtaking views of the water in a picturesque setting. The rustic architecture and modern window filled open floor plan design of the air conditioned building allows for a comfortable wining experience without sacrificing views of the lovely vineyard. Fortunately, there was no entrance fee, and it wasn't overly crowded. As we approached the bar area, the bartender warmly greeted us. It was clear he thoroughly knew his wine selection, and after asking about our preferences, he was able to make fitting suggestions. My husband and I ordered a charcuterie to accompany our wine tasting. We opted for a goat cheese trio (cranberry, herbed, and honey), gluten free sea salt crackers, and prosciutto which came at the steep price of $45. The cranberry goat cheese had too much cranberry to easily spread on the cracker. We chose to create our own selection of 4 wines to taste which cost $32 per person for a one ounce pour of each selection. The wine was acceptable to our palates. Afterwards we bought a glass of their anemometer red (a smooth red wine with hints of boysenberry) which was $20 apiece. I would definitely return to this vineyard. While the wine isn't outstanding, it is very good and the location makes for a welcome escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

The place is beautiful with a great view of the water. The staff were very knowledgeable and willing to educate you about their wine options. I was pleasantly surprised with the food options. Take a quick walk towards the water for some breathtaking views!

The building, its design and overall grounds are spectacular. Gorgeous huge field overlooking the Sound with peaceful breathtaking views. The tasting room is huge and impressive with a gorgeous design aesthetic. It felt a bit pretentious though, as you are charged a $5 entry fee per person, just for walking in. The wine glass that comes with it is a novelty and cheapens the experience. However the wines were decent and we received excellent service.

This was the first winery we visited after getting off the ferry from New London, CT. We enjoyed the wine flight and the views outdoors.

The location of the winery is beautiful with a gorgeous view overlooking the Sound. The building is both modern yet rustic with plenty of seating . However, there is a $5 entrance fee and oh boy you get to keep a souvenir wine glass ! No other winery that I've gone to charges an entry fee and their wines are so much better. The wine is average so you are basically paying to enjoy the view ! Go and enjoy some of the other much better vineyards that have delicious wines and great service without this ridiculous entry fee !

This is the most beautiful winery location on Ling Island. By far! Don't let little things like the wine and slow service get in the way of a wonderful visit. You pay $5 for entry, but that fee includes a $1 glass that "you get to keep" Take the glass, walk outside and enjoy the view. It is spectacular.

we came here in november 2024. off season. stayed in american beech hotel in greenport. this winery is a 6 min ride or so. it's a clean place, the grounds are scenic and you can walk to a cliff that over looks the long island sound. ( no beach access). but a beautiful view! there are picnic tables in the large rear part of the property. the wine was very good... we got 1 white wine and 1 red wine with olives and crackers. cost $54 . the staff was polite and friendly. i would recommend this winery.

The venue is pretty but the wine itself was just average in my opinion. Overall I think this is a good place to go with a large group looking for a more casual setting but it isn't as good as some of the more formal vineyards that are located nearby and offer a better overall experience, including better wine.

We were not crazy about the wine but absolutely loved the rustic build of the winery and waterfront views. The sommelier was fantastic and explained all of their wines enthusiastically. It was hard to get a real feel for each wine sample during our flight without being able to sample each wine in a separate glass. The space is wonderful, and we would definitely go back, but the wines just weren't for us.

Got engaged on the property. They charge $1000 to have an additional person come to take photos of our milestone moment even though we were already onsite with a reservation. We came back for our anniversary and made a reservation in advance. We arrived in a limo because we wanted to be responsible, we also live in the area and wanted to respect local businesses. We were denied entry, even with the limo parking offsite because "they don't allow limos," and "we should have taken an Uber instead." We had only just come from lunch and we're not drunk at all. Very poor service, do not support this business.

So I'd definitely rate this place higher off of the overall atmosphere and the location is stunning. I had two issues one the service was kind of on the rude end. I have no idea why since I quickly made my selection. Second the bathrooms smelled so bad and was positively filthy. It was just odd since it's such a beautiful place. I really enjoyed my glass of reserve and the view. That's the best part the view with friends and a nice glass of wine. I'd go back I just would love to have a nicer inside experience.

Super friendly folks here and some really good wines. We got a couple of flights and then they gave us tastings of their whiskey and 2 other whites. We pretty much had everything they offer. Their whiskey was delicious but decided to skip a bottle today. Grabbed a meat and cheese plate to nibble on and it was big enough to take it to the next 3 stops as well. The views are amazing and if you walk out to the water you can see Connecticut over the sound. Beautiful.

The the most stunning winery landscapes, but that's where it ends. The wine quality is mediocre and wouldn't be on the shelves of a reputable wine store. The owners seem profit-driven; they used to offer free glasses but no longer do so, forget about there package deals. It's become more of an Instagram hotspot, which seems fitting DO NOT SATSIFY THEM AND BUY THERE WINE THEY DONT DESERVE IT. My wife loves to chat. I love to absorb. Staff complain about the high prices in the North Fork, yet it mirrors their own business practices. As Uncle says wisely said: 'Pigs get fat, hogs get slaughtered.

Beautiful winery and views, and the wine is very good, especially for the price point. I will surely be back.

Just last Thursday, my husband and I with our service dog , took the ferry from New London Connecticut to visit the beautiful wineries on the North Fork of Long Island. We looked forward to visiting. KONTOKOSTA winery; it was one of our destinations! Sadly, we could not have been more disappointed! Not with the beautiful landscape or the gorgeous little vines growing into new product, and the building was beautiful. Regretfully, the STAFF was not. SEVERE LACK of welcoming Customer Service-skills! NO words of welcome; How are you today; What wine do you like to drink and how can we help? None of that sadly; they need to change their Customer Service philosophy to be engaging, friendly and welcoming! Train, train, train!

I had a fantastic time at this winery. It's located in a beautiful setting with stunning views of the Long Island Sound. The staff informative. The wine itself was exceptional. I tried a variety of whites and reds, and each had its own unique flavor profile that was expertly crafted. The standout for me was the Cabernet Franc, which had a bold and complex flavor that was truly delicious. The winery also offers some unique blends and experimental wines that are worth trying. The outdoor seating area was a great place to relax and enjoy a glass of wine while taking in the views. The prices were reasonable for the quality of wine and experience provided. I would recommend a visit to Kontokosta Winery for anyone looking for a great wine tasting experience. The stunning location, friendly staff, and exceptional wine make it a must-visit destination on Long Island.

Assuming marriage is even on my timeline in the near future (and this place is still in business by then), everything about this place screams the perfect wedding venue. I was in complete awe when we were entering the vineyards from the grand entrance. It felt like we were entering someone's gardens to their chateau. And then you see this big, beautiful rustic-looking barn that looks very cleaned up and you already know the interiors are going to be sleek and beautiful. The indoor space was GORGEOUS. The lower level is the tasting area, while the upper level is offices and conference glass rooms. Hell, if I lived out here, I would not mind working out of an office or co-working space that looked like this. I don't know exactly how many acres of land this place owns on this property, but there was MORE outside--all the way out to the bay and that probably was at least a quarter of a mile walk. If you can manage to still walk after your tasting, there are picnic tables set up near the bay. This place is just absolutely stunning and the wine was great, too. They have an equally great selection of reds and whites, which was a huge plus for one of my friends who can't handle reds anymore. My only gripe with this place is that they seem very opportunistic (and obvious) about their profits than the overall customer experience. They prohibited us from bringing outside food (not that we were expecting them to clean up after us and leave trash with them) and right when you enter, they make sure that you pay for the $5 "mandatory fee," which, in all fairness, you get a nice branded wineglass in return. And to their respect, they were kind to store our food in the fridge until we were done. A tasting flight was in the $20s, which is more expensive than average on the North Fork, but I do think they produce quality wines and pride themselves on this. I'm sure that this all pays for the marketing and branding that they invest in (and the stunning, huuuuge space that they have). But they are still pretty pricey (and strangely uptight) for a place that doesn't offer the amenities that many other wineries do and I can't imagine this being a place where people stay longer than an hour or two.

Gorgeous vineyard and excellent Long Island wine. They now charge $5 to get in. A little bit of a turn off but they give you a glass for your tastings and you can keep it. My favorite was the sparkling. Go for the view. Beautiful.

Came here yesterday with my dad. Great wine, lovely property with a beautiful view of the water. Indoor and outdoor seating with picnic tables near the water.

Turned us away with a limo even tho everyone was sober. Soooo we should have come drunk driving? (We were told it's ok to take an Uber there which, if you know the area, is near impossible). Really irresponsible policy honestly. If you're worried about people being too drunk then check at the door vs sending your golf cart of security guards to tell people who aren't drunk that they can't come in. Do better.

Friendly service , beautiful ambiance on one side of the barn is the winery itself and the other side is the ocean , though you cannot set foot there the view is stunning ! They have crackers , not so many choices in cheese , but it's wonderful !

Loved this winery. Great views, good wine, and good times. It was packed full of people (Not an issue) which is great for business as well but it didn't feel shoulder to shoulder. There is plenty of space inside and out back towards the sound to get away and have a peaceful experience with friends or family. Awesome views. Definitely recommend.

I've wanted to come here for years and I finally made it. I have to say I was a little disappointed. I was turned off right away by the sign out front .. no kids, no walk ins, cover charge. The place is gorgeous, especially the waterfront view. However, the lady who poured us the wine was so salty and uninviting we could hardly enjoy ourselves! Her attitude was off the charts so we made sure we ordered from the other server afterwards. I honestly didn't like a single wine I tasted either. I've been to almost all the LI vineyards by now and there's are a lot better options.

I came here twice in 2019 and then most recently in June 2021 with the COVID-19 protocol in place. I made a reservation for 12:30pm on a Saturday, and unfortunately due to traffic, we weren't going to arrive until 12:57, so I gave Kontokosta a call and they moved our res up to 1! Really appreciated how easy they made it. Upon arriving, we received our souvenir glasses and a little menu of snacks / non alcoholic beverages. We also got a little slip of paper indicating that for our party of four, we were only able to purchase up to 3 bottles for consumption on premise. I appreciate that you have the choice of sitting inside (several tables available) or outside (I would recommend walking down to the picnic tables near the water -- there's not as many though so they may already be taken). I love the 2018 rosé, and this time we tried a bottle of the Cabernet Sauvignon, which went down so smoothly. We also ordered hummus, pita chips, flagship cheese from Beecher's, and prosciutto. The snacks were great! I especially loved the hummus and prosciutto. Afterwards, we took a nice stroll on the grounds to the water for some photos / just to enjoy the smell of the ocean. The sights here are beautiful, and I appreciate how it's only a five minute drive away from Greenport so you can go there after for a meal/dessert!

During COVID : YOU MUST MAKE A RESERVATION BEFOREHAND! $10 a person to step foot inside, by credit card online. There is no tasting and you have to buy food with drinks. They do not display the food for you, you must open it all yourself and cut things yourself. The location is beautiful. You're paying for what you see. They also give you a complementary glass to bring home. Bottle prices were decent. Food prices were decent just mediocre stuff though. A let down for driving all this way for no tasting and food that you have to display yourself with a wooden knife. But the view was gorgeous.

ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK. Let me start off with the stench. If you like the smell of a blown up men's bathroom, this is the perfect place for you. The blonde women at the front desk was aggressive and yelled "DO YOU HAVE A RESERVATION??" as we entered. She then told us the stench was from the wine fermentation... Not a great introduction. They charge $5.43 cents to get into this smelly joint.. Then, another women who served the wine rolled her eyes and said something smug under her breath when my friend gave her cash and the exact cents for the wine. I used to love coming here for the views. I have lived out here for almost 30 years and this is the only winery that smells like a cesspool with rude customer service. I won't be back. Very upsetting.

A pretty winery located off Hwy 25. When you enter you drive down a long road of grapes on either side. We were lucky and came when the grapes were plentiful. We walked into a quiet place as it was only Thursday. We tasted wine then walked down towards the cliffs where you can view the sound. You could not get down to the beach but it was beautiful nonetheless. As we went back in we purchased two bottles of wine then headed out. Enjoy the time we had there.

The worst rip-off winery we ever visited. Not only do they charge a $10 admission fee just to enter, but the minimum charge for wine tasting is $24 for only 4oz of wine! A standard glass of wine is 5-6oz We came prepared to buy wine but this outfit doesn't let you taste any of it without paying exorbitant fees. We recommend avoiding this place as there are many gracious and wonderful wineries throughout the North Fork.

This is one of my favorite vineyards on the north fork! The location is beautiful with a huge open space and lots of picnic tables. It is also right on the water for beautiful views. They have an option for a "make your own" cheese platter where you can put exactly what type of cheese and crackers you would like. The wine is great too and priced reasonably. You can make reservations ahead of time online. It is $5 a person but you get to keep a souvenir wine glass. Definitely worth a visit!

Nice view, bright and open space. Convenient to town--easy walk home if you're drunk. The Sav Blanc was fruity---like the clientele.

Very nice winery set back on the water. The staff were nice, the wine flights were quite good and the actual indoor winery was spacious and relatively casual. Would recommend, especially on a sunny day when you can go out back

Loved stumbling upon this winery during our trip to Greenport! the wine was absolutely delicious and the ambiance was great! if you need some quick snacks, they've got you covered. Perfect afternoon activity and beautiful views from the tasting room!

This winery experience provides a quant and quiet wine tasting experience. The exterior has a decent amount of picnic tables and toward the edge of the property is views of the water which differs from some of the other North Fork winery experiences that i have had. Wine prices are reasonable at $25 -$30 per bottle, and Tastings or flights were $25 for four wine selections. Also, there is a $5 entrance fee for adults which includes a cute wine glass. Note: Outside food is not allowed so plan to eat before or after if you are craving something heavier than charcuterie. Also you aren't allowed to bring in speakers to play music. If you are traveling with kids, the route to the greens are not fully accessible so ensure your stroller is easily manipulated. Also, beware, my child left with a parting gift...a tick bite! So be sure to check and ensure you aren't bringing additional friends home.

Gorgeous gorgeous place. Modern interior. Gorgeous location. The only North Fork winery on the water. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our wines. He had the Merlot and I had the Cabernet franc. I would have purchased a bottle but they were pricey (average $30 per bottle). $6 for a tasting, full pours are around $11-$14 per glass. Friendly staff. Worth the price of a glass of wine for the views alone.

Another one of my favorite wineries in the North Fork. This place is one of the more northern wineries - it's modern and a seaside open airy feel to it. You can taste or grab some wine and cheese/crackers and/or chocolate inside. Or you can grab some wine outside near the picnic benches by the water. Even if you get something inside- they give you a tray and you can walk to the benches. This place is a little more busier but you can find a place to sit /stand and relax in the open with a breeze coming off the ocean.

My husband and I stopped in on our way to the orient ferry. We were picking someone up and got there way to early. The building is gorgeous. Love the way it's decorated. Plus it's on a bluff overlooking the sound. It's gorgeous! We tried the Chardonnay which was enjoyable and also some really good cheddar cheese and salami. It's a bit pricey but it's good and I would recommend.

I came here on a Sunday afternoon with a group of 5 people. Since this was during COVID-19 times, I made a reservation online. There's a $10 admission fee per person which includes a wine glass. It's a bit pricey for admission since it doesn't include any wine. The wine by the bottle was pricey as well compared to other vineyards (almost $30 a bottle). We had the rose and the semi sweet riesling. The wine was okay but not the best. The property was larger than I expected. There were tables with umbrellas on the patio, many picnic tables, a scenic cliff overlooking the Long Island Sound, and large vineyards. I think there are better wineries in North Fork but it's just scenic.

Because fo COVID, you have to make a reservation online in advance and it costs $10/pp. They are not doing any tasting and you have to buy food. HOWEVER, you get a beautiful wine glass to take home with you. The grounds are absolutely stunning and there are gorgeous views of the Long Island sound. The wine is also absolutely amazing. We bought bottles of Field Blend and Rose. Highly recommend them! I cannot wait to go back. Absolutely breathtaking and relaxing.

Beautiful place! Overlooking the ocean. We bought glasses of wine instead of tasting it was a bit pricey, but I'm giving it a 5 for stunning view! My husband had the Riesling, I had the rosé and my fil had their Cabernet! It's a great stop after visiting Orient State Park. Please visit this place. I wish we brought a cheese plate to have a little picnic!

Kontokosta was our first winery stop on our Long Island trip. They had decent wine and views. The fog in the morning made the vineyard and the backyard look magical. It's worth a stop but don't expect anything more than an average tasting wine. On wine tasting I'd have liked more information of wine making and history of the place. They have some nice white wine selections, and a large open tasting room in barn setting. A wonderful view on the backside of the barn and they had a beautiful patio outside the back doors. We also walked out to the cliff behind the winery to look at the view which was very nice. My thought was they get more business from their location and don't care much about wine quality or service!!!

I really enjoyed our time here. Every wine we sampled was delicious and the snack portions are very large. It has a gorgeous property and view even on a cloudy day. The staff are very friendly Definitely recommend.

A really lovely setting on the North Fork of Long Island. We went 2 days after Christmas. The weather was a bit moody, but not terribly cold (like it could have been), thus making the outdoor scenery very peaceful. It was overcast, but I love it that way. You can sit indoors or take a seat outdoors on their patio or walk the grassy path to the ocean views of Long Island Sound. VERY nice. However, my back was bothering me, so I sat indoors, party pooper that I am. Still, I enjoyed myself in this very visually appealing winery. Only my daughters got wine, some chardonnay I believe. My son-in-law was driving, so he didn't want any, and my husband and I were still working off the "buzz" we got from Riverhead Cider House (lightweights that we are), so we didn't get any wine, either. Maybe next time we're out here, we'll try the wine. I really liked being here.

The pretentious air of the winery really made for a bad experience. Granted our party of 9 wasn't there for a long period; there were several insolent interactions with the staff. The wine was quite good, despite the overall experience.

Wine and cheese boards great. They need more tables with umbrellas out by the water and they need to allow you to bring your leashed dogs.
