If you're like me, then a trip to Kooroomba Vineyard is as much about the journey as the final destination. I always love to hop in the car and drive through the heart of the scenic rim with a good podcast blasting. So for me, an hour car ride past cute little cows and unique landscapes isn't a bother, and being able to have a nice meal at the other end is a bonus.
This particular instance, we had a lazy Saturday morning drive and made it to Kooroomba just as they were finishing their opening preparations. Their main building is beautiful wood and stone with a hint of rustic when you glance upward and note the thatched ceiling. Out the windows, you look over the lavender bushes and vineyard with the mountains of the scenic rim in the distance. Take a deep breath, and you might detect a hint of calming lavender in the air. It truly is a relaxing spot.
Before we were lulled back to sleep, we had coffees brought to our table. illy. Strong. Delicious. Our brunch dishes were nice, and they change their menu seasonally. We weren't in a hurry and had second coffee. I will have to go back for devonshire tea one day, as the people at the table near ours looked like they were thoroughly enjoying theirs.
