"Dubrovnik's 'little sister' offers a chance to be in the middle of things without cruise-ship crowds, though it requires at least a three-hour transfer from the nearest airport, which can encourage longer stays; travelers can still find highly rated hotels for about $175 per night." - Lydia Mansel

"Korcula is a walled medieval village on the Adriatic island, known as the purported home to Marco Polo. It's more of a day-trip destination, reducing tourist crowds by sundown, allowing for a relaxing atmosphere in the cafés and narrow alleys." - Travel + Leisure Editors
Dalmatian Coast Travel Guide Resources & Trip Planning Info by Rick Steves
"Low-key, charmingly rustic and relatively affordable, the island's walled peninsular Old Town faces craggy mountains, giving it the feel of a mini-Dubrovnik." - RICKSTEVES
My wife and I were happy to take the ferry from Orebic to Korcula. The journey is short and pleasant. The old town itself with its magnificent entrances takes you over and you quickly travel back a few centuries in history. There is so much to see. Small shops selling coral, paintings, food and of course ice cream to cool you down while you walk along the hot stone and at least 400-year-old streets.

What an AMAZING Island to visit. Perfect place to go after the hustle and bustle of Dubrovnik. Great restaurants, clear water surrounds the island and plenty of little stores to find a treat.

One of the islands that is still going under the radar. Absolutely breathtaking, it's the greenest of all islands in Croatia with a rich cultural heritage and fantastic beaches. Since the land there is fertile, the locals grow pretty much everything and the taste of fruit and vegetable is amazing. Let's not forget two sorts of wines; pošip and grk which are brilliant. If you have a chance to go there don't hesitate, immerse yourself into the real mediterranean.

A beautiful Mediterranean island, with excellent beaches, vineyards and breathtaking architecture. The traditional dance "Moreška" should definitely be seen. The birthplace of Marco Pollo is preserved in the town of Korčula.

An amazing island , beautiful scenaries , deep clear waters , sandy beaches , nice and quiet small villages settled around golfs . I recommend renting a car so that you can explore the whole island . You can also visit the wineries which are famous for Posip and Gyrk wines. It was a very pleasant experience !

Beautiful place, with a thousand little bays and beaches. While the city of Korcula can get crowded at times (this is where the cruiseships go...) the rest of the island is more quiet and peaceful. You can get here by ferry from Split.
