We stayed one night in room 5. I just loved the whole feel of the lodge. The beds are amazing, the furnishing fit the style, robes made you feel special. So so clean and breakfast was lovely. Staff were great. I would highly recommend for a quiet, unique getaway.

Absolutely gorgeous lakefront lodge - if you want to step right out to the lake and have the views, Rooms 1-3 are the best! Shared kitchenette area in the hallway as well if you want to heat up your own food. Rooms have sliding doors - you can see the black swans in the lake & they come quite close to the edge. Breakfast buffet style and the hosts are lovely. Perfect if you want to kayak as well or use the outdoor spa tub. Quiet and peaceful at night - great choice if you want to stay outside city centre.

We spent three wonderful days at Koura Lodge, Rotorua from April 1st to 3rd, along with another couple, and it was truly one of the highlights of our trip.||||Nestled by the serene waters of Lake Rotorua, the lodge offered a perfect mix of tranquility, comfort, and warm hospitality. We stayed in their spacious suite/apartment accommodation, which featured two large ensuite bedrooms, a generous common hall with a pool table, and a well-equipped kitchen—ideal for relaxed meals and evening gatherings. The private balcony overlooking the lake provided stunning sunrise and sunset views that we’ll never forget.||||The lakeside spa/jacuzzi was a treat after long days of exploring. Fishing and canyoning opportunities are there right from the lodge’s doorstep||||A special word of thanks to our hosts, Arun and Sheryl, whose warmth and friendliness made us feel instantly at home. Their thoughtful touches and genuine hospitality added a personal charm to the entire experience.||||Highly recommended for families, couples, or friends looking for a peaceful yet activity-rich stay in Rotorua. We look forward to returning!

Delightful return visit. Very welcoming staff. Room was in separate building . Overlooking the lake. Good good and room facilities. Excellent breakfast buffet in main house at lakeside. New sauna and hot tub in last 12 months and new decking making it an impressive establishment. Further developments planned apparently. Sadly there is no in room safe. And adated bathroom- however compensated by good quality toiletries and bathrobes

Situated away from the main centre beside the lake, its a very quiet location and our large room and en suite overlooked the lake. The large hot tub provides great views of the lake and surrounding mountains and there are also kayaks for free use, if you wish. Very good buffet breakfast, over looking the lake - a great start to the day. Very friendly staff and more than happy to recommend.

We had a lovely few days in Koura Lodge. The location was perfect, views from the room were wonderful and the staff couldn’t have been more welcoming. |We stayed in Room 3 which had direct access to the lawn, lake and sauna / hot tub. |Couldn’t think of a better way to start the day than having a delicious breakfast looking out over the garden and lake.|We’ll never forget it and didn’t want to leave.

What an amazing hidden gem on the water in Rotorua! We were able to book this room pretty easily and we wish we were able to stay longer! Good pricing and amenities and I would recommend to anyone looking for good reliable lodging in Rotorua. Continental breakfast served in the morning, parking included and free use of hot tubs, kayaks, and other amenities.

This is more of a hotel than a lodge and we loved it. The manager and his wife were brilliant and so helpful. The rooms are immaculate, large and stunning views of the lake. We were sorry to have stayed only one night. Lovely breakfasts, and good access to tea, coffee and snacks

Yelp
When my wife and I first drove to Koura lodge this past March (2016), I thought i was pulling into a private lakeside home. Turns out, I kind of was. Koura Lodge is located in a residential neighborhood about 10 minutes drive from downtown Rotorua. When we first arrived, we were warmly greeted by owner/operator, Gina Wells. She gave us directions to downtown Rotorua and offered to help us in any way with directions, reservations, etc. Our room was #2 and #3 which is really one room but is access by two doors with two separate keys.. It (like the other rooms I imagine) is beautifully appointed and has wonderful views of the lake. We purposely kept the windows opened at night so we could be lulled asleep by the sound of the water. Turns out you'll also hear the local rowing teams working their way across the lake first thing in the morning, thus making me appreciate Koura's comfortable king size bed even more. At breakfast we met David (Gina's husband) who along with Gina, prepared us a wonderful English breakfast with an assortment of cereals, toast and fruit to start. What stood out in my opinion however were the scrumptious blueberry muffins. If you want lodging close to downtown, look elsewhere. If you are looking however for a very charming clean quiet and doily free Bed and Breakfast, Koura lodge should be your choice
