When they say not to judge a book by it's over, I think they were referring to Kowloon Chinese. It's unassuming in a mini strip mall consisting of 3 storefronts. If you're driving by and blink, you'll miss it. Jokes aside, it deserves the title of bang for your buck whole-in-the-wall.
Jumping right into the food, I had the combination plate. They offer something upwards of 30 different combination plates that come with your choice entree, a decent spring roll, and fried or white rice. Now I'll admit the fried rice was merely white rice with some soy sauce fried up, but something about it was so good. I ordered the Szechuan Chicken and it contained squash. It threw me off but hey, mixed with the green onion and other veggies, it all worked together. The portions will far exceed expectation. I think my plate was under 9 bucks and weighed 1.5 pounds. I had leftovers for lunch and the left overs of leftovers for dinner the next day. The spring roll was freshly fried and had a good filling of veggies. We also had the beef lo mein and it was as you'd expect. For me, everything was cooked fresh and come out hot hot hot.
I'm giving 4 stars because the interior is truly subpar, the outside is pretty run down. It's almost as if you're visiting a different world once your inside but I walked out content and spent less than 10 bucks for one plate that fed me over three meals.
FOUR STARS.
