Kowloon Shangri-La, Hong Kong

"Close to the sights of Kowloon, this hotel on the harbor invites guests into its space with a two-story lobby with Venetian glass chandeliers, Italian marble, a mosaic fountain, and murals depicting the mythical Shangri-la. Rooms have floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the harbor or the city, and a color scheme of tans and browns, some with red mahogany wall panels."

Amazing stay and very comfortable Both our suite rooms were absolutely fantastic, spacious, sparkling clean and very well maintained with a breathtaking Hong Kong bay view. Breakfast buffet was huge with everything available. Shang palace restaurant, Nadaman restaurant, Angelini restaurant, Lobby lounge and Horizon club were all very good. Spa treatment done by Ms Herby was great and relaxing. Gym is great. Many thanks to the entire staff team of The Shangri-la Kowloon and special thanks to Ms Vivienne (Guest relations supervisor) for taking care of us during our stay. ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐

Google
A wonderful hotel that retains its old-world charm. Rooms are a good size and the area is extremely convenient. I have stayed here multiple times and have found the maids to be a bit rude and a couple of the doormen quite lazy (they open the doors for you ~60% of the time); however, the concierge is helpful and courteous. The lobby restaurant is beautiful and has delicious desserts, but note they are quite slow. All in all, great hard product but soft product could be improved in some areas.

We were very satisfied with our stay at Shangri-La Hotel. The location is excellent, right next to the MTR and very convenient. Although we booked a standard room, it was surprisingly spacious (around 350–400 sq ft) and spotlessly clean. Breakfast was delicious with plenty of choices, and the staff were exceptionally friendly and attentive. What touched us most was how the hotel remembered my wife’s birthday and surprised her with flowers and a cake — a truly thoughtful gesture that made our stay extra special. The team really cares about the overall guest experience. Highly recommended!

First time in HK since 2015. I had stayed in another hotel nearby for several years. For a family vacation, my choice is shangri-La all over the world and Hong Kong is no different. Food, location staff is incredible and we felt like we own the hotel. Thx. Only problem is normally I have an offer for an upgrade during checkin , the hotel was full. We were fully satisfied with the standard room.

I would 100% come and stay here again! The rooms are surprisingly spacious, spotlessly clean and the staff are all amazing; one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in. Old is gold as they say. Don't be fooled by the photos, they don't do the rooms justice. They are beautiful rooms with the most comfortable bed. The location is extremely convenient as it's next to an mtr, shopping centre and easy access to everything. The staff are amazing and very professional. As an added bonus, VERY Muslim friendly in terms of their bathroom and prayer facilities as well as availability of halal food. I can't compliment this hotel enough. I have stayed in many 5* hotels, they should come here and replicate the service provided.

Our stay at Kowloon Shangrila is an absolute delight. Check-in is warm and very friendly. All our requests prior check in were not just met but far exceeded our expectations. We were checked in to a high floor room with expansive harbor view; & the anniversary surprise is just so wonderful and special. The luxurious room is a haven to come back to everyday. Thank you for the wonderful 3 nights!

We spent New Year’s Eve at the Kowloon Shangri-La, and it was absolutely magical. From the moment we arrived, the service was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. The hotel lobby was beautifully decorated for the season — elegant, festive, and full of joyful energy. The dinner buffet was outstanding with a wonderful variety of international dishes, fresh seafood, and amazing desserts. Every detail felt carefully curated to make the evening special. The staff went above and beyond to make sure guests were comfortable and happy throughout the night. Our room had a stunning view of Victoria Harbour, which made watching the New Year’s fireworks truly breathtaking. The atmosphere was filled with excitement and celebration — the perfect way to start the year. A huge thank you to the entire team at Kowloon Shangri-La for making this New Year’s celebration so memorable. We’ll definitely be coming back again next year!

Google
Location perfect. Rooms not modern but very well kept. Filtered water provided, saves the Earth. Harbor view facing room worth it, lower floor may be noisy as facing road. We stayed on 12th floor and faint road noise Breakfast good variety but quality 4* max, a real pity as my choice of hotel is dependent on breakfast quality. Room rate is high so my expectation should be fair Will I stay again, probably not given the price.

Yelp
Amazing old classic lobby coffee serving during afternoon tea time!!! It's a very relaxing lobby bar area with piano sofa lounge seating!!! I ordered a few coffees of brewed, latte and mocha!!! Pretty good n relaxing afternoon with friends chatting!!! A old school design of Shangri-La designed decorations!!!

Yelp
Beautiful hotel located along the promenade in Hong Kong. Loved the decorations for Christmas. The large Christmas in the lobby was beautifully decorated. Love the giant penguins as well. Check out the carpets in the elevators. They change daily to reflect the day of the week. So reflective of days gone by. Very nice hotel located with a great view in Kowloon.

Yelp
A VIP experience! It's been almost a decade since I visited Hong Kong and I'm happy I chose the Shangri-La for my stay over the holidays. The hotel is located in a tourist area within walking distance of many places to explore, shop and eat. Beautifully decorated all around in Christmas decor. Perfect for photos! They even marked off certain spots in the lobby as a guide for the best photo angles. Note there is a door on the second floor that leads you to a covered walkway which you can go down to the streets of Tsim Tsa Shui or towards the Harbour or Avenue of Stars. I made my reservation online last minute (the day of when I needed to check in). When I arrived, the wait did not take long for check in. I booked the Horizon Room which is on the 20th floor. The package came with complementary breakfast (either buffet or at the Horizon lounge), afternoon tea, and evening cocktails. We were asked if we wanted our luggage to be brought up but decided against it as we were running on a tight schedule. The room itself was spacious and came with a mini bar area, bath, and shower set. There were complementary water bottles provided. We used the spa located downstairs which required an appointment booked at least a day in advance. There was a jacuzzi and small sized pool inside the spa area. One day we were chilling in our room and we randomly had complementary fruit brought to our room by staff. It was a nice treat for my relatives that came by to visit us in our room. We were on a tight schedule another day and needed to take a taxi. There is a taxi queue outside the hotel where we lined up, let the valet staff know our destination and then they helped communicate to the taxi drivers. Saw many businesspeople working around the lounges in the hotel. The staff are fluent in English as well so if you travel and don't know Cantonese you won't find communication issues here. All the staff at the hotel treated us kindly and we felt relaxed staying at this hotel, with many spots conveniently located nearby for shopping and food. Overall a luxurious experience that I would highly recommend!

Yelp
If you want the most eclectic and extensive breakfast buffet in Hong Kong you need to stop by the Kowloon restaurant in Hong Kong. It's worth the price!

Yelp
If you want to be treated like a VIP, this hotel is the one for you. As soon as you arrive, there's staff waiting for you to open the car door for you and get your luggage. These same people will remember you and help you get a taxi to any destination, and will welcome you each time you get back. The lobby is beautiful, with large chandeliers, a lounge, and a Tapas restaurant at the end. The front desk is to the right, almost hidden from the entrance, making the lobby more welcoming. On the second floor they have the Kool Café where buffet breakfast is served every morning, starting at 6am. Here you find everything you can imagine, eggs, cereal, fruits, breads, pastries, meats, etc Coffee, tea, juice. They get you ready for your day ahead. They also have a gym, ballroom, conference rooms, etc. On the 20th and 21st floor is the Horizon Club. You get separate check-in counter, with a welcome tea while you do all the process. While you wait, you can also enjoy the beautiful HK skyline view from their window. The Horizon Club also includes the Club lounge with every day breakfast, starting at 6:30am, also with an amazing view. They also serve coffee, tea and fruit throughout the day, and from 6pm to 8pm you can enjoy some snacks and drinks, included also with your stay. The rooms are very comfortable, clean, spacious, and equipped with everything you need. WiFi is included and, as a welcome gift, they bring fruit and a cute basket with Jasmin Tea. The hotel is very centric. There's shops around, you can also walk to Nathan road, where you will find more shops and lots of restaurants. The entire staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming. Definitely one of the best stays I've had in HK. Very impressed and highly recommend them.

Yelp
I have not had the pleasure of traveling to Hong Kong in a while, but I always looked forward to my stays at the Hong Kong Shangri-La. This is a true 5 star experience. After getting my luggage at the airport, I was always met by a Mercedes Limo driver who whisked me to the hotel. The service as impeccable, and the room was always outstanding. The view of Victoria Harbour is amazing. This is one of the few hotels in the world where I would pay for the view. There are many shops and restaurants in the area within walking distance. The breakfast at the hotel was always great. If I ever get back to HK, I hope to stay there again.

Yelp
First time in HK and had the pleasure of saying here. As others have said, the views were spectacular. We had a partial harbor view which was pretty amazing (especially during the laser light show). The hotel was conveniently located to the subway and walking distance to everything. We had access to the executive lounge and the service was really good. Quality of the food and drink were on par. The room that we had was comfortable. I would suggest that they should remodel the decor. Be aware that the windows are angled and you may be able to see into the next room. Also there are other buildings adjacent and reflections go along way. Overall, this is a really nice place to stay.

Yelp
Perfect location on the waterfront of Kowloon near the Star Ferry Terminal. Well appointed comfortable room. Spectacular view of the harbor and Hong Kong Island. Very helpful concierge. We will be back.
google avatar

Meng L.

Yelp
Service here is always good. I like the fact that there is a Handy Phone in the room which allows you to have a free wifi hotspot as you roam Hong Kong. There is therefore no need to purchase a HK SIM card whilst staying here. There are also discount offers on the phone (which is essentially a smart phone).

Yelp
Love staying here while in Hong Kong. Close to the water and lots of shopping centers are a taxi ride away. Seems like a safe area for tourists. Rooms are large and have both showers and bath tub. Rooms have a refrigerator and hotel provides 2 free bottles of water along with a kettle to boil water. I've asked them to remove the mini bar items, so I'm able to have even more items in the refrigerator. Each room comes with all the basic toiletries and plenty of towels. Beds are very comfortable. They don't mess around with flat sheets, just the comforter on the bed, but there are extra blankets in the closet if needed. A/C works very well, so it's a bummer to leave the room when it's hot and humid outside.

Yelp
Had a long layover at this hotel when transiting thru Hong Kong and everything was perfect there. Staff was helpful and friendly, location is great for being able to walk around and easily identifiable for cabs, and room was comfortable and clean. Didn't have a chance to try any of their food on this visit. The check in counter also does do currency conversion, with comparable rates to outside establishments.

Yelp
I was fortunate enough to stay on the executive floor of the Shangri-La Kowloon HK and absolutely LOVED it. A private checkin with views of the harbour was impressive. The tea and fruit on arrival, a really nice touch. The comfortable bed was exceptional and the cocktail hour(s) in the club, amazing! More on the cocktails... Each was brilliantly proportioned and included the finest ingredients. Enjoy with sweeping views of the harbour and fantastically fresh accompaniments. The cheese selection, in particular, was something else. The service was smooth. Loved the personalised note and box of fine chocolates on departure! Miss you already Shangri-La Kowloon. PS do try their Cafe Kool for the best breakfast in Kowloon.

Yelp
Lounge quite nice, abutting Ave of the Stars. We had a grand time chatting and after dinner drinks. Had polished off 2 huge Asahis with my gyu-kaku dinner tonight, so stuck with a Fever Tree soda and lemon. Super famous HK TV star at table next to us. As well, we had mehh service from our hostess. I treated; damage about $50, 4 drinks, 2 of which were non alcoholic. Chairs and tables are spread out and hushed. Great chatting atmosphere. Traditional SL; the one at Pacific Place in Admiralty very modern.

Yelp
Executive Summary: 5-Star Luxury Hotel in the heart of Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong. Outstanding service, comfortable rooms, and most importantly the best staff for a great guest experience. Value (Price/Quality): Great! - Rooms are expensive, but for the size of room, comfort and amenities it's a great value for the Hong Kong market. I would recommend opting for the Horizon Suites to gain access to the 6-8pm lounge that features snacks and open bar. Breakfast is included and their eggs benedict and pastry bar is to die for. Customer Service: Outstanding! This hotel is literally my residence in Hong Kong and the staff literally know me and my 50+ team who stay here. You can really develop a relationship and rapport with the team. I have had embarrassing moments that employees have put me through but when I shared feedback via the Shangri-La feedback email survey, the resident manager took immediate action to foster understanding of the situation and rectify my guest experience and provided a solution to prevent an issue like this from happening to any other guests. This is true 5-star service. You'll like this place if: If you like 5 star hotels, stayed at Shangri-La hotels, or want a more affordable hotel that isn't on the Hong Kong island side. Don't go here if: If you love backpacking or don't need all the fancy perks. Transportation: East TST Subway, Bus station nearby, no parkade. Tip: Opt for the Horizon Club suites to make your stay extra special and sign up for the Golden Circle Loyalty program. If you stay at any Shangri-La hotel between July-August, they double your qualifying nights to gain status in their loyalty program over the last 3+ years. Do not dry clean your denim at the hotel - they will destroy them. You can order room service of food from any of the hotel restaurants to your room. The Good, Bad and Ugly Details: Good - great large comfortable rooms for Hong Kong standards. Bad - pricy restaurants with small portions. Michelin Star restaurant Shang Palace is not worth the price. Ugly - a few night clubs in the TST area draw interesting ladies outside the hotel. Yelp Customer Bottom Line: If you have $300 USD (+$2000 HKD) budget a night for a hotel, splurge here if you need a hotel in the TST side. Great service, comfortable suites. Business Opportunity: Need yoga mats in the gym and offer guests a studio space.

Yelp
GREAT LOCATION! Was vacationing in Hong Kong and had a chance to stay at this beautiful hotel. It is located perfectly on the harbour near restaurants, shopping and the train station. Took the train to the Ladies Market which was just a couple of stops away so very convenient to areas around the hotel. The staff was very friendly and the room nice, particularly the bathroom was beautiful. Enjoyed tea service in the afternoon as well as turn down service. The breakfast at Cafe Kool was FANTASTIC!!! Basically you could get anything you wanted from omelettes, pancakes, croissants, lattes, dinner entrees, salads and gourmet cheeses. Also ate at the Tapas Bar and the food and drinks were great. The hotel is a bit pricey, but would consider staying here again.

Yelp
Truly a 5 Star hotel experience. My extended stay was in a executive suite on the Horizons Club floor. From the start my experience was just seamless and pleasant. I was whiskered directly to the private check-in desk to be given my room. The room itself - What a nice treat. Very spacious, I really liked how spacious both the living room, bedroom and bathroom were. I also had a powder room in the living room that my visiting friends could use. The living room had a massive couch, good sized desk and a wet bar that came well equipped. There also was a table and two chairs. Front closet was very spacious for my luggage, jackets and shoes. The bedroom had nice wood paneling, lots of storage and a great armchair. The bed was massive and so comfortable. Only thing that was missing to make it just perfect, was electrical sockets. There was only 2 in the room, and just one by the bed. In 2017 this is the kind of things you should have. Bathroom was gigantic, I loved the white marble tiles and the walk in shower. You are offered L'Occitane products, bath salts and a good variety of toiletries. The daily service offered by the housekeeping was outstanding, my shoes were cleaned daily and my laundry was always ready the day of. Being of the Horizons Club floor also gives you the privilege to use the lounge. The staff is so professional and within a few days they knew what my preferences were and made me feel at home. The breakfast offers a huge buffet as well as a A La Carte selection. Between 1800 and 2000 the happy hour will get you lots of nice cocktail foods that rotates on a daily basis. I was also lucky enough to be provided with a protable WiFi device that was so useful during my city explorations. I highly recommend this property, it is worth every penny.

Yelp
from a while back, for work, so take that fact into consideration. It was not on my dime, also not much choice in the location either. but overall everything was great! what was particularly nice was the location. plus the cool taxis that roam around are a fun retro vibe. same vibe at the hotel too, i might add. I'm not certain how to describe vibe as a reason to choose or avoid a hotel, so I'll add this, facilities are nice, rooms are standardly good, didnt make use of the hotel for anything beyond sleeping, so can't elucidate beyond the comfy bed, good sheets, yeah no bed bugs, clean housekeeping and darn decent rates for HK. probably why work chooses this hotel. its reasonable and reliable. side note, i also stayed here again on my return trip back the the good old U S of Merica after mainland Guangdong visits.

Yelp
One of the best hotels I have ever stayed at. Our late check out was arranged at the time of check in. Immaculate and tastefully decorated. Great lounge for breakfast, tea and cocktails for Horizon Club members. Great breakfast spread. Above and beyond customer service! Will certainly come back. I highly recommend this hotel when visiting HongKong. Only a few steps from the East Tsim Sha Tsui MTR.

Yelp
We had just checked our the same morning from our stay at Bangkok Shangri la resort and flew into Hong Kong to check into Kowloon. Not the same experience at Kowloon as the wonderful experience we experienced in Bangkok. Upon arrival, as Golden Circle and Executive Suite, no greeting or escort to room. Room was not properly clean. After reporting to Mgmt, they offered us a wonderful room that was clean with harbor view. Mgmt received our feedback and appreciated it as learning. The mgmt ensured the remainder of our stay was excellent.
google avatar

Vince E.

Yelp
The Kowloon Shangri-La has a new high tea set, set within a bird cage. Imaginative offerings to choose between a western style set or an asian style set. Both were excellently prepared with both savory and sweet options, and paired with scones fruit, tea, and chocolates. We left stuffed to the gills and even had some to take back. The wait staff could have been more attentive, but we loved the overall experience. Reserve in advance and ask for a table by the window for a front row seat to the HK Harbour

Yelp
Honestly, this hotel is by far one of the best I've stayed at. From the beginning, staff are very friendly and open the doors for you as much as they can. The workers who checked me in behind the counter were extremely welcoming and warm. When I got up to my room, a bellboy knocked on my door and delivered me a pot of tea as a complimentary service. The fridge was stocked up with foods and small sample bottles of liquor. Beds, showers, and everything was just wonderful. The front lobby is beautifully decorated with the fountain, the view overlooking the Victoria Harbor in comfortable sofas, and the complementary colors of white and gold filling up the lobby. Would 10/10 recommend this place to anyone!

Krissy M.

Yelp
Fancy hotel. All rooms have floor to ceiling windows for a great view. Bathroom are large. Everything is walking distance. Happened to stay there during my birthday and when returning to my room for the evening I was surprised by a cake and card from the hotel. Very thoughtful! Treated like royalty the entire stay.

Yelp
So accommodating and superb service! We are so impressed with this hotel! Everyone is very nice and very accommodating highly recommended esp the view

Lucky Jee S.

Yelp
This is a beautiful hotel, there's a gorgeous water fountain in the lobby and the atmosphere is very lively with a melange contemporary and traditional Chinese decor, splendid and elegant. The rooms boast floor to ceiling windows and gorgeous harbor views. The bathrooms are white marble and very spacious and elegant. Of course everything from sheets to tissues is very rich and fine. The staff was always helpful and attentive. The Shangri-La is directly across from the subway entrance, and Starbucks, which is convenient.

Yelp
Nice and classy atmosphere, had an exciting reunion with my families in Hong Kong at this bar. An unforgettable reunion chatting about everything with long lost families. Live band music plays softly and beautifully, and singers are all singing old school but breath taking songs on a professional level. Unfortunately, my group initially was served by an unprofessional server with disrespectful and inattentive attitude. Absolutely not the best experience I had at some another similar bars.... still leave a 20% tip on the bill but an unpleasant comment on the receipt. To be fair, just one of the servers was really unprofessional.. Can't figure out why this unprofessional server still working there?Just hope her knows that if your reasonable customers did not enjoy, your job is not done. Highly recommend her to take a day or two off if you don't feel you're ready to do your job. Rest of the servers offered good and attentive serving as expected. One more star given after I read the management's comment on my review. In my college years, I was a part time server to make my tuition through tip, and I always having returning customers with excellent tip leave on the check with very good comments......every customer's experience counts....

Yelp
This is one of my favorite hotels in Hong Kong. Nice views. Super friendly and efficient service. They almost have everything in store!

Yelp
Wonderful hotel! Was in HK for business and pleasure and stayed for 5 nights. Beautiful facilities and service was extremely good. Location was within walking distance of Star Ferry and subway station is right next door. Also - great shopping and night time activities close.
