Kozlik's Canadian Mustard

They look like they have a lot of professional mustard! I was looking for mustard for beef tartare, the clerk recommended two Digons for me, I tried them and bought Daily Dijon, it was good. Only $7 a bottle, I think it is cost-effective, recommended!

Came across Kozlik’s mustard the first time a few years ago when I joined a downtown Toronto food tour with a friend from out of town. The staff are always friendly and they have an amazing range of mustard!! My favorite one is “Sweet & Smokey”. It’s been the only mustard brand I get since then. These days Metro also carry some of their mustard but you get to check out all of them at this location which is amazing. From what I’ve heard, Canada is the largest mustard producer in the world. Love it!!

This is a Canadian owned and operated business. Best thing is that the mustards are made right here in Toronto! Service is friendly and knowledgeable. The lovely lady behind the counter told me that the most popular flavour is "Amazing Maple". And you know what - it is! It's sweet, and hot at the same time. Love it!

Best mustard around! We come in from Hamilton every month and buy 4. Usually we give one as a gift, but this time we opted to try new flavors and are being greedy by keeping them all! See you again next month!

This is honestly the best mustard I've ever had. We first bought it several years ago at the Distillery district, and then I was hooked. The Spicy Dijon and the Horseradish Dijon are my favourite. The Horseradish one clears your sinuses but has such great flavour! They are amazing with a corned beef sandwich. We then found it at Longo's a couple of years ago. The Triple Crunch is great in a homemade balsamic vinaigrette. Happy to support an All Canadian Company!

Went to St Lawrence market today purely for mustard, and a sandwich from Stack'd. I love the partnership between booths! My MIL and I split on the 4 jar deal. Both the deli mustard and the triple crunch are fantastic. Cannot wait to try more!

You can get amazing mustards here. My favourite is the extra hot horseradish sauce. The mustard and cheese sticks are a must have on Saturdays.

Been waiting for the border to open up so that we could get back to Kozliks! Amazing mustard, as well as spice rubs... Variety of mustard does astounding. We have not tried one we didn't like. Makes great gifts as well. Be sure to try their steak rub and chicken rub also.

At the Toronto Christmas Market, I gifted myself with a jar of amazing maple from Kozlik's Canadian Mustards and couldn't be more pleased. It's deliciously tangy, sweet, and spicy, kicking you right in the nose a little bit like wasabi does. The other nice thing is it has low sodium and sugars content. I've already enjoyed spreading it on chicken and salmon and can't wait to utilize it in more dishes. I can't help eating it straight off a spoon either and hey, no judgement here, right? ;) I'll definitely be paying a visit to their regular St. Lawrence market location!

Four years since my last review and noting has changed. I like Kozlik's, but they need to evolve or be left behind. As mentioned before, this is a good mustard. Unlike most other 'mustards' on the shelves the first ingredient here is.. wait for it.. hold on.. are you ready?? "Mustard"!! Imagine that! The other stuff typically have 'water' or 'vinegar' as the first ingredient and 'mustard' will come later. Kozlik's mustard is primarily just that! They also offer a decent variety to go with their higher quality and authenticity. They need to widen their product line still further. They still oddly do not have a hot mustard. I mean, if your company sells a product called XXX Hot Mustard one would expect either a free adult DVD with every purchase (lol) or a semi hot mustard. Their XXX tastes like any other mustard and is barely hot or spicy. I mentioned this to the friendly and helpful girl at the kiosk and she said 'typically the product is hotter if it is fresh' and 'why don't you try horseradish?' Horseradish is for certain types of meat and not what I was looking for so i bought another jar of Hot Mustard since she told me it is fresh. Guess what? Yes, you didn't need to guess. It is not hot. And let me be clear I am just a regular girl who doesn't even like very spicy food. I sneer at people who kill their taste buds and add hot sauce to everything. And I am still finding their hottest mustard lacking!! Yes, in short, no point in this review. This is the same review I wrote four years ago! Except the mustard was $5 back then and it is $6 now.

Tons of unique flavored mustards to try: Bordeaux, Basalmic fig and dates, Italian Mostarda, XXX Hot to name a few (and three bbq sauces). Sample them with pretzels or tiny cubes of peameal bacon. My faves were the Hot Russian Mustard and the Whiskey Maple BBQ sauce. Friendly and informative vendors who encourage you to sample. Excellent customer service. Great place to find something to jazz up your sandwiches.

This is probably my favorite stall in the St. Lawrence Market. They have really tasty mustards. I bought their Dijon Classique for myself and as gifts and I enjoyed it -- as did the people I bought it for. They have nearly 50 flavors, so if you're into mustards, you will definitely want to check this place out.

I had their date/fig mustard and it's great! The only problem I have is that I can't think of what the heck to put it on! I definitely recommend the brand but it's hard to fully endorse something that I can't figure out how to use.

Someone told me Kozlik's was the best mustard in the world, so I did pick up a couple of bottles, and someone gifted me another (descriptions from Kozlik's website): SWEET & SMOKEY: Sweet and smoky with a bite. This mustard is made with honey, hickory and garlic to give you that perfect bbq taste. 3/5 Heat Factor ~VERY smokey, mildly sweet, some garlic, not very spicy mustard. Interesting, but I'd have to think about what to do with this much smokey flavor. Probably something to cook with. Really makes me think of smoked ham. In fact, it almost tastes like smoked ham! TRIPLE CRUNCH: Taste and texture come together in this blend of three different types of whole mustard seed, Canadian whisky and honey. Great as a rub on pork roasts, served with foie gras as well as raw oysters. 1/5 Heat Factor ~Beautiful to look at, and has a lovely fresh crunch, but extremely mild with minimal mustard flavor, a bit of vinegar, slightly sweet, can't really detect any whiskey flavor. Not really a mustard, more pickled mustard seeds. Might make a nice garnish on something like canapés, but the mild flavor would be overwhelmed in many situations. GERMAN: A grainy mustard made with apple cider vinegar. This is the perfect mustard to pair with your bratwurst and sauerkraut. 3/5 Heat Factor ~Now we are talking! A creamy less than medium strong mustard, still with some crunchy texture. I put some on a Costco all-beef hotdog. This would be excellent in a pastrami sandwich. The company makes more than 30 mustards. I don't know if these three are representative, but they are all on the milder side (not sinus clearing!). Of these three, I'd buy the German again. The other two are hard to figure out what to do with. While we are on the subject, my personal votes for the greatest mustards in the world are: 1) Maille (multiple varieties), hand-poured at Boutique Maille in Place de la Madeleine, Paris. Note, everyone agrees the mustards you can buy from Maille online in the US or at the stores in NYC or London are NOT the same recipe you get in Paris or Dijon. And, as far as the Maille you can buy in grocery stores, that stuff is mass-produced in Canada and is a pale shadow of the real thing, so don't go there. 2) Schwerter Adrian from Germany. Formaggio Kitchen in Cambridge MA, one of the best cheese shops in the US, is the only place you can buy this mustard outside of German (they also sell it online). So good, I can eat it by the spoon. They make other flavors, but the Adrian is the one you have to try. 3) Edmund Fallot, from Beaune France. Particularly the tarragon flavor. More widely available, but about as classic as you can get.

Awesome mustard. Ran out of our stash during the pandemic and finally got back to Canada to stock up again. So happy they were still in the market. We bought extra to make sure we never run out again.

Amazing mustard and a ton of options! They have pretzels and bacon for you to sample the different mustards. My go-to for most sandwiches is the Market Mustard but I have lots more a home. I also get their mustards as presents from Toronto when I am visiting friends outside of Toronto and they are always a hit.

Don't have much to say except that they have the best mustard! They have a great variety and some are really spicy, yet still flavourful. If you like mustard and come across this one, get it!

6/24/15: The best mustard shop I've ever been to, and well, the only one too. All the different flavors are really distinct and flavorful. They got hot, spicy, rich, sweet... heck, I think some of the sweet ones can even be used on desserts!--wait....... now that's an idea.... Not much more to say--just tons of cool mustards you never knew existed. 5/5 #canada #mustard

We got the maple mustard and it is so unique and delicious! And we always come on saturdays for their warm flaky cheesy mustard breadsticks. They are the best!

"Hoo-ah!" I feel like Al Pacino who's found his girl in "Scent of a Woman." I've found my hot one that kicks! Right now I'd have to say Kozlik's is the best mustard I've ever tried. Better than any flavored Maile's, Gulden's, Grey Poupon, French's, Heinz, better than Phillipe's (in Los Angeles). Okay, so I haven't tried that many world mustards. But still, this really stands out. There are about 30 flavors to choose from and each bottle has a kick. There is no "mild". You want mustard, not mayo, right? I wanted to try every flavor (the girl manning the stand was very cheery and helpful), but I only ended up trying about 8 of them. Amazing Maple - Perfect mix of Canadian maple flavor with mustard bite. Highly recommended. Sweet Russian - Another good mix of sweet with mustard bite. Highly recommended. Balsamic, Figs and Dates - This one is a little milder than the Maple and the Russian. Bursting with figs and dates, it's more sweet than spicy, but it does have some spice. Highly recommended if you like your mustard more sweet to go with something that's already salty or spicy. XXX Hot - Hot. Really Hot - SUPER HOT! This is the most caliente mustard they have. My nose cleared and dried out in two seconds. Must've been the habeneros that are inside this primo mix. If you are seeking heat... you must get this. Garlic - Solid. Black Harp - Interesting... made with Guinness! Bordeaux - I don't know what it is about this one, but it really stands out. Everyone that tasted this had to get it. Made with red wine vinegar. Highly recommended. If you just want to try a couple bottles, I would recommend getting a bottle of the Amazing Maple and the Bordeaux. If you like super hot, you have to grab a bottle of the Really Hot. After that, it's all based on preference. They have cranberry, smokey, sherries & cherries, rosemary, lemon & basil... almost any flavor that you can think of. These are great for gifts for your mustard fan. Mustard never goes bad (just add some vinegar if it gets dry)! Bottles are $6 each, or $5 each if you buy more four or more bottles. One of the great bargains in the city... my favorite foodie store in Toronto.

Can't live without our Kozlik's! Our favourite... the Market Mustard! I'm not sure I could pick between the rest, but a few that stand out are Amazing Maple, Lime and Honey, Bewitching Balsamic. Lets not forget the horseradish and most amazing meat rub. Go in and have a taste of them all - they have them set up to taste with peameal bacon or pretzel sticks.

Mustard lovers' heaven. They must have at least 40 different varieties of mustard in addition to spices and rubs. Best of all, you can actually try the mustard before you buy it. 4 jars for $20 is your best value. I purchased Old Smoky, Curry, Maple and Green Peppercorn.

I first saw this brand at various food shows around the city. Then slowly, I've been seeing a variety of flavours popping up around the city in supermarkets and specialty shops. It's got a real zing, and while I love every bottle I buy, here is a list of my top 4: My absolute favs - Amazing Maple-great in a marinade! Balsamic Fig and Date-turns that salad dressing up!, Sweet and Smokey-excellent in everything, I've straight up eaten this smeared on a cracker! Hot Russian-goes with everything, but especially like this mixed with a little horseradish for holiday meat dishes!

Having fun tasting different flavors of mustards spicy or not. Plenty of petzels provided so customers can dip to try all flavors as much as we can before buying our favorite ones.... The lady at the booth was very nice. She gave me information about their online recipes. I have to take a look and try those recipes with their mustards:)

I trust a family who've been making mustard for over 50 years. And my taste buds love them for continuing to make it. Kozlik's mustard is a staple of St. Lawrence Market, and will soon become a staple of your diet. You'll notice the stand on the main level, with little ramekins of mustard and pretzels for you to sample the different flavours. Soon, you'll realize the extent of their flavour selection and how much you'll want to try each and every one. They offer dozens of different mustards, from the sweet to the hot and spicy. Personally, I'm a fan of the hot, and their horseradish mustard makes my nose sting but I'm still obsessed. They have flavours like balsamic figs & dates, and raspberry mustard, as well as the hot russian and other savoury finds. They also carry mustard seeds that are sometimes harder to find, as well as a couple sauces and great gift ideas. If you live in Toronto, and you like mustard, and you haven't tried Kozlik's...there is something wrong with you. If you're on vacation and stopping by the market, Kozlik's has a bunch of gift sets that would make great souvenir gifts that represent Toronto without needing a logo of a cartoon beaver. Plus who doesn't love edible gifts? And if you need more proof that Kozlik's is amazing, just look at the fact that their stand in a market has expanded to restaurants and grocery stores all over the city. If you can't make it down to the market, you can pick up some mustard at Pusateri's, The Healthy Butcher, even Whole Foods got in on it. Or you could stop by Jamie Kennedy's Wine Bar or a dozen other restaurants -- they all carry them because they're in on the secret that Kozlik's makes mustard like no one else. And now you know too.

This mustard is downright delicious! I bundled and got five jars, and it was tough to choose just five of my favorites from the yummy selection! I'm from Miami Florida, and paid extra just so I could check the bag and carry these home with me! The owner is one of the friendliest shop owners I have met! Highly recommend this for your dinner parties, Sunday sandwiches or one of a kind suvineers to blow your friends and family away!

If you look at the list of what goes into their mustards, mustard is the first and most volume ingredient. Heinz and French's begin with vinegar, then water. This is inattentive and odd for a business that focuses on mustard and only mustard. There are 21 flavours but none are spicy! Kozlik's needs to pick up a hot mustard and add it to the shelf. Also, prices have gone up and are now $8. Buy 3 and the price is $7 each. I wouldn't recommend buying more than one at a time. Only buy multiple if it is to go to different houses.

Nice and greasy with that gooey cheese and it gets all caramelized and crunchy on the side. God they make it just the way I LIKE IT. Oh and there mustard dips are to DIE FOR. Love love love it al! Yes! These mustards rule! Amazing kick. What real mustard should be! I remember trying every single flavour they offer in the St. Lawrence market one day a couple years ago. I stood at the booth just repeatedly dipping pretzels with no complaint by the staff. Eventually settled on 3 flavours we liked best and they're worth every penny! I've wanted to go back and get more ever since we finished them. Glad to see them in grocery stores now! Maple is the beeeeeest!!

great mustard, a definate staple in any kitchen, even though this would stand out as a high/premium quality mustard, the flavors are pretty deep and fresh. im not sure why an expiry date is placed on the jar, because in all honesty, you will force yourself to make foods that include mustard, because this mustard has a power...unlike any other. this is the "franks hot sauce" of mustard, with all the flavors, you could possibly put that shit on everything :)

Location: Evergreen Brickworks Market Being a griller & condiments addict this kiosk was the stuff of dreams. Great selection, and of course yummy. The kiosk was manned by the owner's son who was friendly and helpful. Happy to support Canadian grown & owned. Cons: Resisting the temptation to buy more than what you need ;)

Best mustard on the planet in my opinion. :) I've tried a whole lot of them, but as others have noted, the Amazing Maple is one of the best and so versatile - I like using it in the sauce/marinade for salmon or chicken and even in salad dressing. These are mustards that will make even the most boring of sandwiches taste amazing.

"What is like ice, but burns like fire?" I think they got the riddle wrong in Turandot; the answer should be "Kozlik's mustard." This was a must-stop during our Yelp tour of St. Lawrence Market. They have a bowl of pretzel sticks for you to sample about 10 different mustards. If you like sharp, intense pain shooting up your nostril, try the XXX Hot. My favorite was the Triple Crunch which starts off mild then burns slowly at the back of the throat. I also like the pop of the mustard seeds; kind of like a poor man's caviar. Each 250-mL jar is $6; or four for $20. I only bought one jar but the nice mustard lady gave it to me for $5 because our Yelp group bought a total of four jars. Yay for group outings! -------------------------UPDATE: January 18, 2010------------------------- I made a mustard dipping sauce using Kozlik's Triple Crunch in place of the usual Maille whole-grain Dijon that I normally use and the S.O. says, "This sauce tastes better than the last time. Did you do something different?" Yeah, Kozlik's.

The best mustards of life. Of life, people. If you eat mustard, please go to Kozlik's at St.Lawrence Market, use 25 of their pretzels and sample as many as you can. And then buy some for home usage, I use the pop holder in my fridge as a mustard holder. For real. Your vinaigrettes, marinades, rubs, sauces, hot dogs, hamburgers, sandwiches and life will never be the same. Triple Crunch and Amazing Maple 4 Life.

As good as it gest is right in mustard land, best mustards in town! This from a girl that used to hate mustard as a child. Yucky, bright yellow gunk. You know the one. But Kozlik's mustards are delish! My particular favourites are the orange ginger on a nice ham and aged cheddar grilled cheese or the niagara classic is great on a good grilled steak on it's own or mixed with some reduced balsamic. Next mustard purchase will be the dijon... love a mustard with a nice kick!

Part of my Saturday morning routine is to wander past here and sample the mustards. Every Saturday, you ask? How is that possible? Probably because they have over 30 types of mustard ranging from sweet to super spicy and most of them are laid out daily for you to sample. Worst case scenario, you're dipping pretzels into yummy mustards and trying to decide between the maple mustard and the XXX hot. Best case? They have the bacon ready to go and you get your breakfast of bacon and mustard samples! At $6/jar or 3 for $15 it's at the upper end of the price range but totally worth it. These mustards are packed full of flavour so a little goes a long way. Staff are friendly, knowledgeable and not pushy. And you can actually buy your breakfast bacon sandwich there too if the samples aren't enough.

I came across Kozlik's at the St. Lawrence market. I enjoy good mustard, and Kozlik's certainly knows the game. I bought several jars of various mustards from them... And now sadly I've ran out of all of them. The XXX hot has a nice heat. The honey lime mustard is soooo good and unexpected. Extremely reasonably priced. Their jars are $6ish, and are huge. You'd pay twice that at most stores for a gourmet mustard that's probably not quite up to this caliber. I know they sell them online, but I constantly think I need to go back to Toronto just for this mustard!

I want to give everyone a heads up around my partners short lived experience working at the Kozlik's factory that produces their mustard. My partner was surprised upon his first day at the factory as basic PPE was not provided. No MASKS, no sanitizer and no periods of sanitizing their work stations. This meaning NONE of the employee's making the mustard were wearing any face masks nor physically distancing themselves. When my partner further questioned about PPE it sounds like they've haven't been mandated or supplied any PPE for a couple of months during this pandemic. The factory is disastrous as my partner has recently reported a Non-compliance report to Toronto Public Health and left because he felt unsafe. I hope they can change and provide safety to everyone when handling food.

One of my favorite stops at St. Lawrence Market, Kozlik's has great mustard. Whenever I am there, I stop by regardless of the crowd. And since they always have pretzels to dip into the mustards, there is always a crowd. (FREE FOOD!) Amazing varieties of mustard, and they are willing to let you try them all. I always find something new. The latest is the balsamic mustard. Yum. They have some pretty spicy ones, and some sweet. It's a good condiment, and Kozliks makes the best.

I adore Kozlik's Canadian Mustard. Not only are they the best reason to visit St.Lawrence Market, they make quality delicious mustard and have excellent customer service. This Christmas I packed some of their mustards into my gift baskets and everyone was pleased. I kept a smoky flavour one for myself. The Dijon by Anton and Horseradish are both particularly tasty as well.. Bonus Points, you can order ONLINE!

I cook. Professionally. And I always have at least 5 or 6 different jars in my fridge. Canadian Smoky, Fig and Full Grain are my absolute favorites. The owners are amazing, and that's definitely the best combination of price and quality one could find.

My sweetheart and I stumbled upon Kozlik's mustard while on a St. Lawrence Market Saturday afternoon date about a year ago. What drew us to the mustard shop were (of course) the free samples! Kozlik's cooks up hot back bacon from the market right at their front counter and gives you to opportunity to try as many mustard types as you can handle with the bacon. For the vegetarians out there - pretzel sticks are also provided for dipping. In terms of the mustards... There is definitely something for everyone! My current personal favourite is the Curry mustard, while my sweetheart prefers the Bewitching Balsamic (a delicious mix of mustard and balsamic vinegar - which sounds strange, but is actually quite tasty). There is something for everyone at Kozlik's - They have mustards that range from mild and sweet to extremely hot and spicy (like the XXX). The mustards are also relatively inexpensive: $6 each or 4 for $20. For the mustard lovers out there, this place is an absolute must :)

Who knew there were so many choices of mustards. Makes for a good gift and their bacon and pretzel samples are always fun to go and pick at. As well, the people that work there are always friendly!

I can't go back to French's (child's play, really). THIS is how mustard should be... super flavourful and interesting. If you're into real, spicy mustard, go for the horseradish, hot russian, or even dijon mustard. So good.

Kozlik's is a good example of a toronto food institution perhaps more specifically a St. Lawrence Market institution as the stand is there every market day, doling out samples of mustard paired with pretzel sticks and canadian bacon to hordes of onlookers. Their mustards are legendary and have a solid mustardy kick to them. A good deal they have is that 4 mustards can be purchased for $20 which makes this a convenient gift for your foodie friends and relatives. I'm a fan of the triple crunch mustard as I use this in a recipe off their website-it makes fried chickpeas sparkle with zing and punch! Their balsamic fig and dates does wonders for pork tenderloin and I've used their amazing maple to perk up a glazed salmon dish a few times. In short, Kozlik's is a true Canadian foodie gem-after all Canada is major mustard producer!

Umm....a place that fries up meat just so that you can dip it into the many options on their mustard sample spread? Just take my money already, why don't you? After shamelessly (no really, they were really supportive and friendly of me being a complete fatass--no shame here) trying pretty much all of their mustard, I settled on the amazing, spicy, tangy horseradish mustard. I had actually forgotten about the carry-on limit until the day I was boarding the plane back to the US. I had to stick it into my mom's checked luggage and ask her to mail it to me once she got back home. All this for a reasonably priced 8oz jar of mustard? Yes, it's quite worth it.

Awesome stuff, we first encountered it on a sandwich at Porchetta and Co. They used the stuff on a sandwich, it had all kinds of really tasty mustard seeds all through it. We were lucky enough to find it at the Cheese Shop in Kensington Market, even happier to find a whole booth with all kinds of varieties at the St Lawrence Market. If you've been to the St. Lawrence market, I'm sure you've been to Kozlik's before. It's a tiny little shop in the middle of the main floor that always has a bunch of people surrounding a hotplate. What do they sell? The best mustards you've ever had and the most variety of mustards that you've never even knew existed. Now first of all, I actually think the best thing about Kozlik's isn't their mustard, but the fact that they cook pea meal bacon for you to taste all their delicious kinds of mustards. AMAZING! I could probably spend a good hour here sampling and deciding on which mustard I like the best... Oh, for you veggies, they also have pretzels to try out all the different types of mustard. It's a really hard task to actually find out which one you love the most, they're just too many that are good. Personally I like the German one the most, but depending on the food and what floats your boat, you may find another winner in their cornucopia of mustards. This is always a stop for me in the St. Lawrence Market. And for some reason I always come out with a jar of mustard. Gah! Damn you effective sampling!

This is a must visit when you go to St Lawrence Market. At any given time, there are about 6 jars of their mustard in my fridge. I've been buying them for years, and have never had a jar I didn't love! There's no shame in going in thinking you will buy one jar, and ending up with three. We got our friends from out of town hooked on their mustard, and now we have the perfect gift for them when we visit. They are sold in a lot of stores, so it's not necessary to come down to St Lawrence Market... but it's great if you want to sample. My current favourites are probably the Sweet & Smokey (who can argue with honey, hickory and garlic?) and Dijon by Anton. My favourite way to do salmon is to cover the top with Dijon, sprinkle a bit of Italian seasoned bread crumbs on top and bake. Yum.

Great flavours, great people. Really sad they stopped selling the mustard soap (I'm not kidding, that stuff was great!) We haven't bought other mustard for about 6 years now and never miss going over when we're at the market. The "Really Hot" will make you tear up and is best with the sample back bacon.

Found this at evergreen farmers market. My husband bought the amazing maple mustard to try and we had it at a gathering at our house and everyone loved it !! He ended up buying more for himself and friends a couple weeks after and now my husband wants to buy a case! Lots of different flavours to choose from

I've been told that Kozlik makes over 32 different kinds of mustard. I've tried almost all of them. Each has their own flavour and unique qualities, although I would need to pick the Sweet and Smokey as my preference. The mustards are about $6.00 each, but you can get discounts if you buy in bulk. It's all made in Toronto, which locally owned and sourced..happy for me!

All the flavours are delish. Every Torontonian should have a bottle Of Kozlik's in their fridge.
