"Another afternoon, after my eight-year-old niece took a hard spill on the bunny hill, we made her boo-boos better with an afternoon dog sledding trip with Krabloonik Dog Sledding." - Travel + Leisure Editors

Krabloonik was an amazing restaurant! Service was amazing and food was even better. It is super cozy and tucked away. This is definitely the place you want to go to if you want a nice quiet evening. We did not do dog sledding but our server told us about it. She said the dogs love what they do and LOVE the cold even more. She said that they even sleep on their houses because they get so hot inside. They have vets and mushers that live on site all year round to care for and love these working dogs! As far as the restaurant goes 10/10 would recommend and would definitely try the mushroom soup!

Google
Excellent place and an amazing family experience. The mushers are friendly the dogs are great and super happy. People who review this place negatively simply don’t understand the nature of wild working dogs. We saw nothing but a great staff working with wonderful friendly gorgeous dogs. Best of luck to you all in the future and hope the dogs get adopted.

Google
It is easy to be conflicted reading reviews & numerous news articles on this place so I don’t want to write a review on what I read AFTER my experience- I did not know anything controversial about Krabloonik prior to my experience- so I can only say I experienced the best service with our musher & all of the staff. Jesus was our musher & he gave me the experience of a lifetime. He let me hop on the back of the sled & it made my experience incredible. His attitude, his service needs to he commended- that is an employee that deserves a bonus. I would say he made our experience special more than anything. Then, after we left- I saw reviews & articles. It is really convincing to be honest. But I would be a liar to say those dogs were not thrilled to take us out, happy to show us love, & filled with joy in their living conditions. I do not believe this place is being closed due to “violating their agreement in the treatment of their dogs”, but because of bad publicity instigated by PETA & then continued by their cult like supporters. I sense fake reviews in all honesty. & that comes from a complete animal lover. I have a shitzu-brussels griffon mix & a lynx point siamese. I would protect those doggies with my heart if I felt they were endangered. To close, I know this experience doesnt change them closing- I dont write this review to produce sales as they close within the next week- but I dont believe it is fair that they have to now carry a legacy of bad reputation.

Google
This restaurant has always been a favorite of mine, and a go to place of mine every time I visited Snowmass. However, when I visited last week, I was very disappointed. I was shocked how the prices were very inflated for the quality of food and amount of food. I saw the prices on the menu beforehand, but I went anyway to introduce our friends to the restaurant. Because of this, I won’t be going back. I had the trout, and it was not very satisfying. There were six of us dining and we were trying to split the checks and we could not because their computer system was down and we had to split the checks by looking at an iPad and doing the math. The drinks did have a generous pour. There are many more fantastic restaurants in the area, particularly Aspen that has better quality food for the prices.

Google
This is not an easy review to write, but i willl sincerely try and do my best. I recently became aware of a senior dog rescue that paid some serious money to pull several of the oldest dogs out from this kennel, of which a couple of the dogs sadly passed away shortly after being liberated from this place. It's a shame the treatment these dogs endured, and even worse is how the owners should have desired to set a positive example of what proper treatment of the sled dogs looks like, as it seemed like a very nice operation this resturant had going... but instead, the horrors that went on regarding the suffering of their poor dogs has been unfortunately well documented. One can only hope that something good comes out of this, not too mention that I am not happy about leaving this review but on the other hand there was no possible way I could remain silent.

Google
Do NOT support this business. I’ve seen videos of the handlers kicking and abusing the dogs. It’s absolutely heartbreaking to see. Especially here in Colorado. Please don’t go here. Do your research. One quick google search will tell you everything you need to know about this awful place.

Heather Rodd

Google
If you do plan to go, only to to save one of the poor dogs that are trapped there. Do your research, they don’t care about animals AT ALL. Poor dogs (not even huskies) left out in the cold and even tied to trees left for food for wildlife and can’t even escape.

Yelp
Can't come to Aspen without trying dog sledding for the first time. It was such an amazing experience and I'm incredibly happy I did it especially with krabloonik. It was such a delight working with their staff. Everyone was so polite and respectful as well as friendly and just made the experience that much more worth it. At the end they have hot chocolate or hot cider they also have a full bar inside to keep you warm before you go out on the mountain or after even. The staff we had were: Anna Aiden Mick Aaron Dillon Dan Anna was the best for sure. Such A nice person The only reason not 5 stars, is we had to wait for the other sleds when we were on the mountain for almost 20 minutes and that cut into my riding time. That shouldn't have been the case.

Nikki H.

Yelp
We had such an wonderful experience. The dogs were incredible!!!!!! Certainly, worth every penny. The staff was very friendly and inviting. Our musher was Aaron and he was awesome! Strongly recommend to anyone visiting Aspen. There is nothing like it.

Tim L.

Yelp
Amazing restaraunt. Great food and Dogsledding. I was able to walk around and see the working dogs (these guys are not pets) the animals were well taken care of and you could tell the handlers loved their beasties. I'm amazed at what a cool operation this place is.

Gabriela M P.

Yelp
I was really looking forward to dog sledding with my father during my trip in Aspen, but there wasn't enough snow and the dogs seemed to be struggling not only with our sled, but with all the other guests' sleds as well. If there is not enough snow for the dogs to safely pull the sleds, I believe the owner should have rescheduled everyone's reservations. The dogs had to stop several times and were eating snow off the ground because they were having difficulty with the lack of snow and were clearly exhausted. I felt bad for the dogs and hope the owner will make better decisions next time for their sake. I have been dog sledding before with other companies (not in Aspen) and there was a lot more snow those times and the dogs were not having any difficulties whatsoever.

Yelp
JAN 2021: DOG SLEDDING EXPERIENCE ONLY! IF YOU A THRILL SEEKER THIS IS **NOT FOR YOU** this definitely should be on everyones bucket list. BUT VERY OVER PRICED. $690 FOR TWO. We were treated very well by the staff and then the musher was GREAT!! But first we watched a video showing and warning us, making us think we will be racing in the OLYMPICS. WHAT A LIE**. We were well under the weight limit and the sled was barely moving. Most of the time the musher was helping the dogs. THE FIRST TURN is the only fast looking spot JUST FOR THE PHOTO they sell you for $85. The rest is on a flat service road. Going downhill it was at a walking to power walking speed, as our musher was walking next to our sled most of the time. Then we go down to a spot to drink hot chocolate. WHEN we are turning around, we were going slightly uphill, I was surprised because we barely made it downhill. Uphill we got out once to let the dogs barely make it up one of the hills. It was nice and relaxing ride, NOT BUMPY OR FAST. MY grandma would of loved it!!!!!! We then are sold the photos which looked good of course due to the first turn. Then with a highlighter the highest tip amount was suggested to tip. I understand we need to tip and we are big tipper especially during covid. but we were given higher exceptions and let down. staff was great at least.

Michelle K.

Yelp
What an amazing experience! The food was delicious, the service was outstanding and the views can't be beat. You can eat before or after dog sledding in the lodge. The dog sledding experience itself is expensive as many other Yelpers note. There are 8 dogs, a musher and plenty of other people helping make your experience special. While it goes for 45-1 hour, it feels like 10 minutes because you start with a big downhill turn and it's scenic and relaxing. There is a photographer to capture some high resolution images of the first big turn that they'll have ready to review when you finish your ride.

AJ L.

Yelp
We have been dog sledding before with out 5 year old before in several other locations and were excited to try Krabloonik. The lodge facility is very nice and the waitress was very helpful in getting our little guy a quick snack before the ride. When we got down to the sleigh, we immediately realized the conditions for the dogs are pretty rough. Our little guy asked "where is the dog's home"? They are all chained up as far as you can see on very short chains with no shelter whatsoever in very harsh weather conditions. I'm not a bleeding heart but this looked like a Humane Society video for a Chinese Meat Farm rather than an ultra expensive experience in Aspen. The dogs looked miserable. From what I understand the previous owner used to kill the dogs when they could no longer pull a sled, so this is a half step up from that. As for the ride, it is very short (maybe 30 minutes total). The terrain is not very well suited to dog sledding so the musher ends up having to push most of the way. Very slow on the way up, I wasn't sure the dogs were going to make it. At the end I gave a cash tip to the musher as I have in the past. I get up to the top and the waitress hands me a receipt suggesting a gratuity for the "coordination". Suggested tip was $150. This seems absurd on the fact that the cost is $1000 for 30 minutes. You would think that would cover the "coordination". She seemed irritated when I left less. I doubt my review will lead to any changes but hopefully will lead the management to consider a long term plan to house the dogs in better conditions and deliver a better experience to the customer considering the cost is at least double that of any other dog sledding operation in the United States.

Yelp
We eat here last week and it was so horrible. We ended up getting food poisoning. I can't recommend this restaurant. Avoid at all cost. So many other places to eat in the area.

Valerie B.

Yelp
We had an amazing dinner last week at Krabloonick Restaurant in Snowmass Village, Co. I had the Beef Carpaccio which included a yummy arugula salad. It was delicious and perfect for dinner for me. Others at our table had wild boar, mushroom soup, elk, ahi tuna...everyone raved about their meal. We sent thank you to the chef as we left. This is also where you can experience dog sledding, which we have done in the past and also highly recommend. Congratulations Krabloonick you have a wonderful place to eat!

Robin P.

Yelp
All I saw was pure love for the dogs and some very happy pups! These dogs clearly let us all know how much they loved this ...and the guys running the dogs absolutely gushed over every dog personality. I don't believe the abuse allegations on some of these posts - but life is hard no matter who you are and shit happens. What I saw was very well kept dogs and Pure love!

Lauren T.

Yelp
We absolutely loved the sledding experience...family with smaller kids and they had a blast! We felt safe/secure and our guides not only were extremely capable but also were able to add by teaching about the terrain/forest around us. We finished our day with lunch at the restaurant which was also a delight - the kiddos loved their options as well. We would highly recommend this adventure to couples, families, anyone who wants to try something new!

Yelp
If you only do one activity in Aspen, THIS is the activity to do!! I have been blessed to travel the world for my job and have experienced incredible moments in Singapore, Paris, Monaco, Bali, etc... this truly was the BEST experience of my life!!! The mushers are incredible humans who love these dogs more than they do their own self, they educate you on how their kennel is ran, the nutrition of the dogs, how they decide the line up of the dogs on the teams, etc. And best of all, the dogs LOVE to be loved!!! At the 1/2 way point you take a break and can roll in the snow with the dogs, get your faces licked, give pets all around.... I truly cannot day enough about Krabloonik, do yourself a favor and make this reservation!!!!

Bobbi K.

Yelp
What an unforgettable experience! Our musher, Josh and his team were wonderful! The checkin process was short and sweet. Then we went down to meet the dogs and our musher. Josh gave us a quick talk on what to expect and we were on our way! The dogs were incredibly sweet and so playful with us. They seemed to love every minute of it, just as we did. Josh was genuine and pleasant to be around. He was very informative and answered all of our questions and more. Around 2.5 miles in we stopped to give the dogs a break and get some hot chocolate & hot apple cider. Josh took some photos of us and the dogs with our phone which was nice! There was also a professional photographer that took some fun pictures available for purchase at the end. Which we bought of course. We went on the 9am run, which was chilly so dress warm! Thank you again Krabloonik!

Yelp
We were not as enthusiastic as we were in the past. My son asked for the filet mignon to be rare. It took 3 tries to get it right. My son was unhappy that 2 filets would be throne in the garbage. My son was given a little extra wine (1/4 cup at most) to bake up for it. I was upset that they took nothing off the bill for the inconvenience. Especially since the filet was $85. Also his glass of wine had a lot of cork in it.

Yelp
Super love every experience that i had here, me and my husband are on honeymoon, and this place really ticked my bucketlist, super friendly musher, server and owner. Abit dissapointed cos i thought dog sledding will be like huskies from the advertisement but still the dogs are awesome, I had the twilight rides and food was amazing!!! I would rate 9/10!!!

Tim C.

Yelp
Very fun and eclectic place, buried on the woods! If you're a fan of wild game, this is the place. The elk, steak, lamb all awesome. Small wine list but some amazing finds. Not easy to find a 2004 Bordeaux at a really fair price.....boom!! Very fun experience. Go. There. Now.

John K.

Yelp
From the ambience to the presentation of dessert, not a single thing was disappointing. Can't do much better, this place is amazing.

Jeffrey B.

Yelp
Aspens biggest tourist trap - one to miss - Chose to cancel a reservation made by my wife and secured by credit card for valentines evening using the flimsy excuse of not being able to reach us on a cell phone - in 2017 ? Without leaving a message ?? The subsequent response from the restaurant was dishonest. One, the reservation was not cancelled and two, it was secured by credit card. Your restaurant was clearly overbooked and chose to favor one customer over another for short term gain - and long term hit on your reputation. Nice try.

Jennifer R.

Yelp
We went dog sledding as a special treat for my husbands birthday. We had a wonderful time. It was extremely expensive for us ($2000) but we wanted to splurge for the occasion. At the end, the woman who registered us/ had us sign our waivers handed us the prepaid bill and asked us to leave a tip. I left a small tip and 10 minutes later the same woman called me to ask for more of a tip, pointing out that she deserves a tip as well (for signing us in and having us sign a waiver!???) I find this completely disgusting and it soured the entire experience for me. The support staff of this place needs to learn some manners. Maybe they are just used to much wealthier people coming and throwing money away but after giving $2000 to this service, I found this obnoxious.

Heather M.

Yelp
Full five stars for this awesome place!! We visited Krabloonik on our first afternoon in town as we acclimated to the altitude. Staff is super friendly and helpful, and the mushers are great! It's a totally worthwhile experience, if you've never done it before. The dogs are amazing, it's pretty inspiring to see how much they enjoy their "job." And the views are something else. Post sledding, we sat by the woodstove for some hot cocktails while we warmed up. This is truly the quintessential ski vacation activity, and Krabloonik is set up perfectly for it. A+ for the hot apple cider cocktail. After that, we had a fantastic (humongous) four-course meal, which was my favorite dinner of the whole weekend. Highlights: elk tenderloin, mushroom soup, cream dessert. Also, great wine selection. If you're on the fence, I'd recommend that you take the plunge!

Heidi S.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I visited this restaurant while visiting Snowmass this past week after a friend recommended we check it out. We really enjoyed our experience. The setting is cozy and romantic, but also a nice place to go with a group of friends or family. The sled dogs were howling when we arrived which was pretty cool and the log cabin is nestled between the mountains. Very picturesque. We had fantastic, attentive service. It was a little slower paced, but we were fine with that as we were in no rush. We had the elk and the buffalo for our entrees. Both were fantastic, but I liked the elk a bit more. We had the baked Brie starter, which was good but I've had better, and the bison tartar which my boyfriend says was well presented and full flavored--only use a pinch of salt. We had the au gratin potatoes and spaetzle for our side dishes, both pretty average. The wine bottle prices are fairly reasonable. We had the homemade tiramisu for dessert which was decent. Overall I'd definitely recommend this restaurant for those who'd like something different, outdoorsy types and a good restaurant not in one of the village areas. We'll be back!

Melanie E.

Yelp
This was a once in a lifetime experience. My musher, Alex, taught me so much about the dogs and Aspen's wildlife. The sounds of just myself and the dogs through the mountains was so serene. Half way through the trip we stopped for hot chocolate and a snack that included 2 choices of hot soups and warm fresh bread in a tent next to a creek. We also got to pet the dogs and learn which ones navigate and which are the muscles of the sled! Then we finished our run back up the mountain! Thank you Krabloonik team for such an amazing ride :)

Simon S.

Yelp
Dog sledding is a such a unique and exciting experience. We truly had the best time. Luke was a great guide and you could tell he loved each and every dog. I was a little nervous about a review saying the dogs were locked up in horrible conditions and malnourished but that is absolutely not true. You can tell these dogs are healthy and love what they do. Definitely recommend!

Trent A.

Yelp
We've been coming here every year for 15 years. It was absolutely our favorite restaurant in the area. We came back this year and ate there on Christmas Eve...and we were painfully disappointed. The first thing we noticed was off was the wine list. In the past, they had such an incredible, extensive wine list. Now the wine list is about 10 pages shorter. Not only that, the options were either very pricey or very cheap. Hardly anything in the middle of the road. When we mentioned this to our server, everything became clear: new owners. And these new owners clearly have no idea what they are doing. The Krabloonik Mushroom Soup has always been our favorite. Seriously, it was the best mushroom soup we've had anywhere. Now, it's completely mediocre. I can admit that it's probably not terrible, but we were used to something sooo much better. When it came to ordering the food, we were surprised to see that there were no specials. Oh well, we usually love everything on the menu. We ordered the elk tenderloin, wild boar tenderloin, and beef short ribs. The tenderloins both arrived with undercooked bacon wrapped around them. It's as if these new owners' first idea to "improve" the food was to just wrap everything with bacon. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love bacon, but it was completely unnecessary (and disgustingly undercooked). It just seemed amateur. All-in-all, a very disappointing meal from what used to be our favorite restaurant. As long as these owners are in charge, we will not be coming back.

Emilie E.

Yelp
This place rocks! The proof is in the smiles an photos! My 4 year old nephew now wants to be a dog musher when he grows up....you can't bet that kind of experience!

Jane E.

Yelp
Two words: WAFFLE FRIES!!!!! I know I know. This is an exotic food restaurant. I ordered the fries with my sandwich and wowsa.... I love love love waffle fries and these blew all other ones out of the water. Anna was an incredible waitress and the lunch was excellent. My husband loved the fish and chips (same waffle fries!!) The cod was fresh and tasty. Would go back in a heartbeat.

Andrew A.

Yelp
Great experience!!! But a few things to clarify for those choosing this experience. 1)The lunch prior is meh. Thinking I was getting a nice lunch but served old turkey cold cuts on white bread. c'mon Krabloonik, your turkey sandwich should be better than that 2)The dogs are great. so friendly. so nice. they work hard but truly do enjoy the run. 3)The ride down. it's short. maybe 20 min. You pass over ski slopes. that's fine but something to be aware of. 4)timing: don't focus too much on your time. it can vary. my sled took time to get dogs on a routine 5)there is pee everywhere and the blanket you wear smells like dog, but again, that is part of the experience. ;-) 6)Owen was great. thoughtful. worked hard. spent the time to be professional and make sure I was comfortable. Definitely request him if you can! 7)it's a one and done experience. I don't really need to do this again but a one time must. I definitely recommend it but you should probably not assume you're screaming MUSH while going through an open field. ;-)

Eric M.

Yelp
Great fun at krablooniks!!!! our mushers josh and Alex where great teaching us a lot of things about the sport/lifestyle, the dogs where great and worked hard for us I would definitely recommend this to anyone visiting the aspen/snowmass/glenwood area

Bill B.

Yelp
We had lunch at the restaurant which has normally been open during the winter - ski season. This is a much different menu than it's winter selection and at a great price for the meals served. My wife Dee, had the Traditional Patty Melt with potato salad and I enjoyed the Fish and Chips. We saw many items I would select the next time we go. They appear to be getting some locals finding the place and returning. I heard a group of guys saying they would be back the next day they enjoyed it so much.

Shivani S.

Yelp
What an amazing experience from the dog sledding to the meal where we had to almost roll ourselves back to out hotel. Starting with the dog sledding...what a unique experience. We were set up with 8 wonderful Alaskan Huskies and a knowledgeable musher. Our team we're rambuctious and adorable. I appreciated that they told us each of their names, personalities and encouraged us to pet them after our ride. The dinner was phenomenal. Not one to be very adventurous, I had the boar and my husband had the elk. So delicious...I had to finish it even though I was full from the delious appetizers ( which were included with the twilight dogsledding). Though pricy, totally worth it for such an amazing experience.

Nadia J.

Yelp
best experience ever!Warmed my heart to see such love between the staff and the dogs! Really a must do!

Jen M.

Yelp
My 5 year old son and I went for an 11 a.m. ride and loved our experience. Our musher Adam clearly loved his work and the dogs. We enjoyed hearing all about them, their personality quirks, and learning about mushing as we traversed some beautiful scenery. The spot we stopped by the creek was very scenic and my son enjoyed exploring and snuggling sled dogs before heading back at which point he got to "drive". It would have been fabulous even without the amazing food that followed for lunch. We will be back.

Natalie K.

Yelp
Such an amazing experience today! It recently snowed yesterday so the mountains and trees were covered in snow it was just breathtaking! The doggies oh my goodness so sweet, lovable and friendly. Our Musher Julian was very knowledgeable about each dog and the areas around the trails. Overall, I had a fantastic time.

Brian H.

Yelp
Service was a bit on the slow side and there were only a few other tables seated. Our waiter missed most of the introductory information that we later heard a waitress explaining the specials and such to a different table after we had eaten. We had some really great wine although once it was empty we had to wait quite some time before we could ask to have another bottle brought. The food was average. Menu was definitely interesting but wasn't mind blowing. The macadamia encrusted trout was the best of the four entrees we ordered including pheasant, elk, and buffalo. Overall, for over $100/head the service was lacking and food was average.

MommyDaughter G.

Yelp
A must go. Our whole family had the best time!! Kids won't stop talking about it, memories we will cherish forever! The food was unexpectedly delicious and the mushers were soooo nice to us and loving towards their dogs it was a real honor to see and be apart of.

Tim R.

Yelp
What a fantastic experience this was for myself, my wife, our friend and especially for my 7 year old son. Our mushers, Josh and Corky, could not have been more personable nor taken better care of us. The ride through the mountain woods was beautiful and fun. We stopped half way for pictures and a chance to love on our dog teams, and a quick refuel with hot cocoa and breakfast in the tent. Then back on to the sleds for the ride back to Krabloonik and lunch. We spent much time with the puppies and the retired dogs up for adoption and were sorely tempted to take one of these beautiful animals home with us, but we already have 4 of our own . . .. We will definitely be back for another trip through the Rockies with Krabloonik!

Corey G.

Yelp
We come as a family every time we are in Snowmass. It is such amazing experience and the food is to die for. They are able to accommodate large groups, but you have to get a reservation months in advanced as they book quickly. We had 12, for a dinner at 5. We ended up being the first ones there, which made it so nice. Once we were finishing up, the restaurant was getting busy, so we were able to spend the majority of our meal enjoying our own company.

Quoc Anh N.

Yelp
The menu was limited so we figured what they served would be much better. We ordered the highlighted dishes, elk, lamb chop, bison and 10 oz japanese beef. Very disappointed with the taste. No wow factor and the meat was over cooked.

Tina D.

Yelp
Food was really excellent - elk was perfect, baked brie was amazing , Josh our musher was excellent and we had a blast ! Loved it and highly recommend the experience!

Scott S.

Yelp
Due to the lack of snow, the dog sled tours were NOT done with a sled but with a jeep. About 7 dogs pretended to pull a jeep along the trail but in reality, the driver was pressing on the accelerator because the dogs could not pull an over 2000 pound jeep. We were given no advanced notice and no discount for riding in a jeep versus a sled. Riding in a jeep versus a sled is definitely a different and worse experience. In addition the dogs and the humans had to breathe in the gas fumes from the jeep in front of them. (Several rides are given at one time along the same path.)

Rachel G.

Yelp
Great idea in theory. It's a very unique and rustic setting on the hillside of Snowmass; however the food and service leave nothing to be desired. The service was horrible (3 out out 6 wine glasses with lipstick stains, meals not coming out at the same time, things not prepared the way we asked and took way too long to fix once we told them) and the food was below my standards for what they were charging. The idea of their 'game and fish' menu is great, but the way they brought out the food and didn't know who ordered what amazed me. At a smaller more 'local' place this would be okay. But if I order a small $12 green salad and you charge me an additional $7 to put it on two plates (without telling me) and then it's still not the way I ordered it; and then I order a $46 entree I expect you to know who at the table ordered what. My brother's meal came out a good 8 minutes after the rest of ours. All of this was just topped off by the fact that no one cared the service was so lousy. If they had been apologetic about the blatantly dirty wine glasses, the mixed up order or the spoiled wine they served us (I forgot to mention that earlier! With no replacements taken off our bill) it would have been a little better. We easily racked up a +$500 bill for 6 people and it was the worst money I ever spent! Moral of the story, if you want to drop a very pretty penny for bad service, dried out food that sounds fancy, and a general lack of knowledge about how to make your customers happy, this is the place. Enjoy!

Yelp
UMMMM.... YEAAAAA.... A vegetarian eating here is not good, but rather emotional. :( They served ostrich, venison, elk, and all these poor animals :( People were walking around in fur coats; i felt like throwing red paint on them, and joining GANGSTER-ASS PETA!!! The only veggie item here was potatoes and string beans :( I understand its snowmass but vegetarians DO TRAVEL. The dessert menu was good, that's why it gets 3 stars. RIP. poor animals. But i do think the dog sledding is cool.

Yelp
The workers here arnt verry well trained they didnt evn wash the stairs and i fell down and broke my leg im thinking about taking legal action

This place is riding on its fame and the fact that it has a captive audience via its touristy location in Snowmass. Krabloonik would have been long gone in a more competitive environment. Here, it thrives. You can expect to pay out the nose for embarrassingly subpar food. Our table paid the following: $60 for elk; $50 for buffalo; $50 for boar; $30 for pasta with a single slice of pheasant; and $50 for a single filet of trout. Glasses of chardonnay were $17, beers were $11. $18 for a salad that was a basically a pile of greens drowning in gorgonzola and cherry tomatoes. The food was fine, but nothing memorable (except for the price). the Pheasant was dry, cold to the touch, and tossed on a plate of pasta as an afterthought. The trout was tasty, but overcooked and served with overcooked brown rice and green beans drowning in butter. The elk and boar were slathered in a brown sauce that tasted strikingly similar. The atmosphere was certainly unique, and our server was wonderful, but seriously, Krabloonik is a total ripoff. You can find far better fare for half the price in Snowmass. Bottom Line: Expensive, tired cuisine served in a neat atmosphere that does not warrant the markup. You will spend $500 here and leave without having had a memorable meal.

Yelp
We visited this place yesterday to check out the place and see the dogs. There were 6 sleds that departed one after another before dinner. The dogs all look well treated and were absolutely psyched to run. We spoke with the manager at length about the operation. He said they have 249 dogs. This is because they rotate the dogs so they can rest between rides. They breed the dogs there. We asked if we could meet the dogs. We did and they were wonderful and happy to interact. We saw no cruelty and would like to visit again next year.

Yelp
I came here for lunch, when it's slightly less expensive, and had a great experience. I had the tuna tartar for an appetizer and nut-encrusted trout for an entrée, which were both great. The group I came with also ordered brioches with various jams for the table, and that was great too. Everyone loved their meals. The service is very attentive, and we got into a conversation with one of the owner's siblings, who was lovely and offered us home-baked sugar cookies (free of charge), and let us play with the sled dogs outside -- which is the biggest perk of this restaurant.

Yelp
We had a most incredible experience at Krabloonik. We were warmly greeted upon our arrival by Gina. Then after an interesting and enchanting tour of the sled dog kennels with Danny we had dinner in the restaurant. The service was exemplary. The chef was amazing and he came out before and after our meal to check our preferences and make sure that everything was to our liking. Brian, our server, made an excellent wine suggestion and was perfectly attentive. Dinner started with a delicious amuse-bouche and ended with an scrumptious dessert. Everything in between was wonderful! The most memorable moment was before dinner when we got to hold four-week-old sled-dog puppies!

Yelp
I've been coming to Snowmass for over 15 years and have been at this restaurant five times. It recently has a new owner but has the same chef. The food is superb and the atmosphere was warm and friendly, I like the fact that the new owner is friendly and casual. It doesn't have the pretentious and snobby atmosphere like some other high end restaurants. I've tried both the elk and buffalo and they are both good, but I find the buffalo more tender. The service is warm and friendly as well. I was surprised by some of the "one star" review, but when you read those, they are not rating the food or the restaurant but they are rating the dog sled business.

Yelp
We made a special memory with our family as we enjoyed a dog sled ride followed by a fabulous dinner. Our experienced guides Luke and Tom did a fantastic job and our 6 and 8 year old granddaughters had a great experience with the dogs and an opportunity to do a little mushing themselves. We highly recommend the elk tenderloin and the wild boar.
