Staff: amazing! Park: It's okay. It doesn't look like the pictures in the reviews tho. I drove all the way from Dallas. The Texas dry season has this place looking thirsty lol. Water holes, dry, if not sitting with stagnant water. Water dirty looking. Plants dead. Maybe bc it's a weird warm feb. idk. but the potential is definitely here. I don't like the tent camp areas. Not smooth, rocks, ant mounds and sticks everywhere, slopes and uneven spots. Don't seem maintained at all in my opinion and i camp ALOT. Bring a rack i goes. Plenty of primitive camping, rugged roads. I only stayed 1 night at spot 4, electric. Best spot i found that was flat honestly. if i weren't tired.. id just drive home. Vibe: Sunday was serene before school let's out. Glad I visited when I did. Felt exclusive by the time visitors left. Laid by the waterfall for hours. Office: water the grounds so things look as green as advertised. Everything looks dead, years ago. Update: i drove home. Didn't feel comfortable staying.

Visited Krause Springs today, and it was such a refreshing and peaceful experience. The drive to the location was scenic and relaxing, setting the tone for a perfect day outdoors. The entry fee was $10 for adults, which is totally worth it considering how much there is to explore. I spent time walking through the beautiful garden area, checked out the man-made pool, and climbed over the slippery rocks near the springs — everything was absolutely stunning. The place feels natural, soothing, and scenic, making it a great escape from the city. I noticed quite a few people camping as well since there’s a dedicated camping ground, which looked like an amazing option for anyone planning an overnight stay. The overall vibe of the place was calm and positive — perfect for solo trips, family outings, or group adventures. If you’re looking for a beautiful natural spot to unwind, swim, or just connect with nature, Krause Springs is definitely worth visiting. Was a 4-5 hour drive for my family to get here from the Dallas area, but it was absolutely worth it! We had an amazing end of summer day trip. The water was refreshing, the rope swing was thrilling, and all in all this location was stunning, between the waterfall, to the picnic areas and the butterfly garden. I've never seen so many beautiful butterflies.

I had an amazing time at Krause Springs. This place is truly a hidden gem just outside of Austin. The natural spring-fed pools are crystal clear and super refreshing, and the whole property feels like a little oasis with huge cypress trees and a beautiful waterfall. I especially loved the rope swing and the little caves near the lower pool. It is such a fun spot to explore. Entry was only $10 per person for the day, which feels like a steal for how beautiful and well-kept the area is. If you want to camp or stay after 8 pm, it is $15, which is worth it because the place gets even more peaceful once the day visitors leave. I recommend coming early on weekends because it can get busy, but the line moves pretty quickly. Bring water shoes for the rocks and a float if you just want to relax in the water. Between the cool water, the gorgeous scenery, and the relaxing vibe, Krause Springs is now one of my favorite spots near Austin. I cannot wait to come back and maybe even camp overnight next time.

Absolutely beautiful! The butterfly garden has hammocks to lay in and just enjoy your surroundings. The pools perfect temperatures for being spring fed. Staff was super sweet and helpful.

Highly recommend a visit to Krause Springs if you ever want to take a dip! It’s best to go earlier in the day to enjoy the clearer water. We went afternoon on a weekend and it was packed with the water a muddy brown. Nonetheless it was a great time!! There’s restrooms and plenty of space to set up your group. There’s also a rope swing!

We got lost in the beauty of this amazingly beautiful place, enchanting gardens with varieties of flower and flora, friendly staffs, nice and beautiful pools, some hidden water falls to explore around and hike away, great location for picnic and camping. I enjoyed it a lot so did my wife! Will definitely recommend it and will go back with friends and family sometime soon!💚💚

We visited Krause Springs for July 4th weekend and was pleasantly impressed! Perfect family spot that was well managed without the craziness as other places may be that are full of drunks. Love that they have rules in place that prevent loud music to allow everyone to enjoy the place. The kids loved the rope swing but must warn it is challenging getting down to the lower pool as the rocks can be very slippery! The upper pool is spring fed and very cold but clean and leads to an awesome waterfall emptying into the lower pool. We also enjoyed walking through the botanical garden and listening to the many wind chimes throughout. Definitely hope to visit again in the future!

Beautiful hidden gem in hill country. There is a modest entrance fee that allows you access to the whole space - the natural springs, the man-made pool, butterfly garden, and more. The man-made pool has spring water; this is where I would recommend families with children or inexperienced swimmers go. It's lovely and more of a managed pool setting. We hiked down the stone steps to reach the natural springs which are so beautiful with a picturesque mini waterfall and a rope swing as well! However swimming here can be treacherous. I highly recommend water shoes as there are lots of rocks and moss in the springs. Water depth also varies greatly from one spot to another so it's important to be aware of that. Water temperature was comfortable and cool - felt great on a hot summer day. Wrapped up our visit in the garden, which is so beautifully maintained. Absolutely lovely and zen. The changing room and bathroom facilities are clean and easily accessible. We left feeling dry, happy, and peaceful after a wonderful day in nature.

Knocking off a star for the most evil Texas bug bites I've had but that really isn't Krause Springs fault. About 40 mins west of Austin this place is the perfect day trip to cool down in the heat. Bring your sunscreen, snacks, towel, drinks and a good book and headphones. The water is so cold and feels great when it's so warm outside. It takes a moment to get used to then you don't want to get out.

Great fun, get there early. The gardens are wonderful. Didn't see any docent or garden folks and would appreciate if they gave classes. Or just to tell what we are seeing. We debated bringing young kids but think 5+ is best range. Slippery rocks and one on one attention for little ones! Not pets, smoking or glass. Dint see anyone policing but didn't see violators ether. I suppose the over abundance of signs helps. The water was wonderful but earliest is better because it got crowded in a Saturday of many with more tatoos than most. In the nice garden they have hundreds of pots. Bet they have a forklift that runs around with pallet to place in the greenhouse. Very relaxing It was all good until the leaf blower started up!

Get here early before they open and you'll have an amazing time for pictures! Then once the place fills up mid day you'll have an amazing time living life and enjoying friends and family! There is this butterfly garden that is incredibly peaceful super early in the mornings and it has oversize human length wind chimes hanging from the 100 year old trees just calmly chiming in the wind as you observe different cacti, flowers, and butterflies. There were tons of hidden trails all over the property that brought you to secluded springs, mini waterfalls, and crystal clear natural "hot tub" that were a brisk 65° haha! I made sure to lay down in those natural tubs and let the water flow over my body as I enjoyed the sounds of nature! The main body of water was cleaner in the morning but after a full day of people swimming and swooshing around and cliff diving and rope swings the water was pretty brown / muddy by the end of the day. But nonetheless it's still spring fed water so it felt great! There are beautiful campground here and all over the property you'll find BBQ pits and places to set up for lunch! I was seriously jealous walking around smelling all the fajitas and burgers getting cooked as I was empty handed haha! Fair warning it does get slippery on the walk down to the main natural pool and it requires a little bit of maneuvering but most people made it down fine! Just be extra careful They also don't allow smoking down by the pools they say you have to smoke in or near your car in the parking lot, which was more than okay with me! Some smoked herbs and garden mushrooms never hurt before a nature adventure I'd like to say! Overall this was an amazing place! Super fun adventure, and very picturesque! I had everyone asking me after what country I traveled to haha ANYONE who left a bad review is just a Debby downer because I didn't have one actual negative thing to say about this beautiful place!

I seriously love this place! It's about a 45 min to an hour drive from where I live in Austin and I had been wanting to visit this place since I first moved to Texas. There always seemed to be a reason why my friends couldn't make it so on a whim, I decided to just take myself! The parking situation was easy enough. I did go on a Wednesday in August mid-day. The gentlemen at the entry were very kind and helpful. There was a $10 entry fee and they accept cash and cards. Overall, the property is a lot smaller than it appears online, but that doesn't matter much at all to me. I absolutely love the fact that they have so many different shaded areas for you to sit and relax. As many others mentioned before, the rocks can be quite slippery so just make sure you are prepared for that. I didn't get a picture of the waterfall or the rope swing but that seems to be the popular attractive around these parts. I personally went for the butterfly garden on the 4th year anniversary of my Dad's passing. This place was exactly what I needed to just feel at peace and zen. Beautiful place for sure and worth the drive!

$10 cash and cash only to get in. Beautiful place with a garden that has huge wind chimes throughout the place; it sounds like church bells if the wind is right. The natural spring was clear and a tad low in water level which is to be expected when it doesn't rain enough. I changed shoes from sneakers to Chacos; BIG mistake. I slipped on the limestone within minutes and hit/cut my shin. It developed a hematoma and was bleeding BUT, I preserved! I didn't go into the man-made pool which is fed by the spring, I needed an Advil instead. It's a place to get right with the world. Highly recommend

$10 per person on a weekday is wild. It's the only thing that keeps us from being frequent visitors otherwise we'd be here once a week. The space is beautiful, botanical garden and water space alike. Great photo ops with the waterfall. Bring your tube! The rocks are hella slippery even when dry so be real careful. Most spots in the water are neck deep. I just don't support the rate in today's time with everyone struggling to even be able to afford to eat and pay bills.

Me, my husband and my 7 year old wanted to check out Krause Springs and we weren't disappointed! It was our first visit and we chose tent camping. When we arrived we were very impressed with the landscaping and layout of the property. There were flowers and fun vegetation everywhere. The cyprus trees blew us away! We had plenty of options for tent camping and we chose a fairly secluded place that had one of the springs running next to it. There were plenty of bathroom options and we were close enough to walk from our campsite. The property was very clean and not too crowded for a Friday-Saturday camping trip in July. The RV sites seemed to be more popular and crowded with not only RV's but tent campers as well. It was nice that anyone could reserve an RV spot but we enjoy having a little more space and privacy over electricity. It's camping so it kinda goes with the description. The spring water in the man made pool was a little chilly but it wasn't too cold to enjoy a swim for a bit. When you walk down to the natural pool you do have to be careful not to slip on the rocks. They do have steps on part of the trail down but you can also walk up the creek bed through the bushes to access the pools. The scenery is so beautiful! There were waterfalls and some little caves. They had a rope swing and a cliff you could jump off of. Everyone was very friendly and shockingly my husband and I seemed to be the only people drinking beer. We even looked around to make sure we weren't breaking any rules. It was nice that the crowd attracted while we were there was wholesome and pleasant. There was plenty to explore as well. Of course when exploring you have to be alert. We saw turtles, frogs, lizards, and even a coral snake. We had all our food sealed in airtight boxes and put our trash bag in the car overnight since we saw a family of racoons walk by our little spring. We will most definitely be visiting again, hopefully in the near future!

Went here for a friend's birthday with a few other girlfriends and it was an amazing way to spend a Saturday summer afternoon! The drive from Austin was calm and the parking lot is very big. Adult tickets were $10. You can bring in food so I suggest having a rolling cooler or a wagon to make it easy to bring in your food, drinking water, blankets, towels, and miscellaneous other stuff! We laid out all our stuff at the upper area/pool area and then went down to lower area/waterfall when we wanted. Bring your water shoes as it's slippery down there. Keep in mind this is a very family friendly area so there will be many kids of all ages. The staff was extremely friendly and overall the whole experience was great!

4.5 This place is pretty awesome. I had never been to a springs before so this was a treat. This is a privately run area so there are not a ton of people there. It was pretty empty near the spring when we got there. There are a ton of steep stairs down to the pools so be aware. The first pool is a swimming pool with spring water and the second is a natural spring with waterfalls. That is the one we swam in. There's a tree with a rope swing, though I wasn't brave enough for that. You can swim here but be careful, there are rocks and branches down at the bottom. It's not too deep. Some areas were about 6 to 8 ft down. You may encounter turtles. We met a few. After a while people began to stream in so we packed it in and left. There is also a really pretty garden with flowers and chimes. I'd recommend it.

There is a beautiful walk thru "butterfly garden" at the entrance with big wind chimes, tons of different succulents, flowers, fern and more! The pool was cold and refreshing with sitting/picnic area. Down below was the spring which was pretty murky water but felt great. Waterfall cool for photos, a cliff to jump into the water about 20ft, and rope swing. Great place to chill for the whole day and weren't super restrictive to what you can and can't bring into the park. There were restrooms and showers as well that came in handy when leaving. Amazing gigantic trees and beautiful views! Very affordable, Can't wait to go back!

We always take snacks and drinks the water is perfect for a hot day! And it's down the road from where I live. I love taking my friends here when they visit town!!

This place is a gold mine! They have everything you need! Jumping off cliff, rope in water and many more stuff to do!! The pools and garden and waterfalls were amazing! I WILL DEFINITELY BE BACK !! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!!!

I took Thing One here for a scouting event/hike last Saturday. While I have been here before, it was the first time Thing One had been here. This is a wonderfully serene place that offers so much to include a butterfly garden, natural pool, camping site and a waterfall. While Thing One went hiking, I spent my time in the butterfly garden. The butterfly garden is great for relaxation, reading and taking photos. *It should be noted that prices have gone up for 2021 admission. Its is $9.00 for ages 12 and up and cash only #bewellcentraltexas

Go!!!! But go during the week in the summer as the weekends get crowded. Peaceful. We fell asleep in the garden for over an hour

How have I never been to Krause Springs before? Is it worth the drive? Yes! Do I want to live in the butterfly garden? Double YES! I recommend arriving early. It opened at 9:00 and we arrived at 9:30 and it was perfect. The parking lot was just starting to fill up and we won the jackpot and found a spot in the shade under a large tree. They take credit cards but prefer cash so plan accordingly. There are a ton of picnic tables and even places to grill and tons of shade. The rocks can be slippery so wear sturdy water shoes like Chacos (this is not a sponsored comment) #chacosponsorme You'll want them in the water as well. I don't like touching the bottom but that's just me. Arriving early helps you get a shady spot before the crowd shows up. I was with a three year old and a baby and we left around noon and people were still flowing in. I will be honest, it's not the best place for a baby. As mentioned above, the rocks are slick so walking with a baby wasn't easy for my friend. I had to hold her hand several times as she made her way across the rocks. The three year old had a great time. There is a cool rope swing for people watching and a high cliff where people were jumping. Some people froze at the edge and people would chant or count down for them. It was cute! A soft sided cooler is the easiest thing to bring but I saw some people with hard sided coolers with wheels and even someone with a wagon. I don't know how they got that down there! It isn't that easy to get in and out of the water but it's doable. I suggest some noodles or a tube to lounge around. Spend some time wandering around the butterfly garden. It's wonderful. There are lots of water features and way in the back corner is a hammock. I tried to give "mean stares" LOL to the person in the hammock but let's be real. If I had gotten there first I would have camped out and never left. I didn't really give anyone mean stares. I'm kidding! I tried to "will" him out of the hammock with my mind but alas, my super powers were a bit off today. Finishing thoughts: Get there early. Bring cash. Bring water. Bring snacks. Bring a sense of adventure and get ready to cheer those jumpers off the cliff. Remember...chanting always works!

Coming to Krause Springs in times of covid is alerting. It looks like an absolutely normal day coming here. Crowds are abundant, and the beauty and magic of this place loses its luster. If you're trying to get pictures of/with the cascading waterfall you've seen all over Instagram, GOOD LUCK. After the rain, the water gets murkier than usual. You don't need to be a strong swimmer, but you definitely need to have basic swimming knowledge, as parts of the water can run deep. The trick to avoiding the crowds on the weekends? Overnight camping, which is offered at Krause Springs. You get the grounds to yourself, along with the other campers. By the time 9:00 AM hits, the crowds pour in. Since this is a privately owned venue, there aren't any employees around to monitor anything. I saw a family of 5 of 9 ask to use the restroom, and never came back out to pay the entrance fee per person... WARNING: No one cares if they are in your picture, and there are tons of kids sprawling around.

MUST DO! Krause Springs has been family owned for over 50 years and is listed on the National Registry of Historical Sites. I first visited Krause Springs in the 80s when I was living in Austin. I almost don't want to share this well kept secret as it's one of the last remaining family owned watering holes around. Krause Springs has 32 springs on 115 acres with many feeding the manmade pool up top and the natural pool down below the cliffs which flows into Lake Travis. I prefer the natural swimming hole but here's a warning: it's a steep walk to pack your stuff in and out. Rocks can be slippery around the pool so wear water shoes, not flip flops. Also visit during week days as it can be very overcrowded on weekends. My last visit there was way too many kids for my liking. It would be really cool if it was adults only so we could relax in the beautiful scenery. Camping is available with both primitive tent camping as well as 24 RV sites with water and electricity. Be sure to also take time to stroll through the Butterfly Gardens with wind chimes and fountains to soothe your soul. It's defiantly a must do at least once to experience this very cool family owned local swimming hole.

A beautiful place to spend an afternoon in the water and enjoy the outdoors. The scenery is breathtaking and there is plenty of room to find a spot to hangout in the shade. Lots of people brought coolers and bags with packed lunches. There are seating areas as well as spots on the rocks where you can sit. We saw two waterfalls and one was a bit hidden, so we were able to take a nice picture. There are also camping areas along the Riverbend. The only downside was the restroom. There was only 1 stall and no door, so you would need someone to stand guard so no one walks in on you & there were several wasps. If you plan on going, you can bring water in non-glass containers and water shoes are recommended because it is very slippery on the rocks. There is a cost to go in (see picture).

The water was very muddy and smell funny and even worse it says no pets allowed they were dogs in the natural pool

Spicewood, TX. This review is for a visit on a Wednesday afternoon. There were quite a lot of people here, I would probably avoid a weekend. The small pool is just a commercial swimming pool fed by the spring. It is way too small for the number of people, mostly children. I assume the spring flows through it so there are no chemicals? The natural pools are really quite nice. As more people arrived the water became murky but not objectionable. It's deep enough to swim even though it is a bit on the chilly side. The adjoining flat rocks are a nice place to dry off in the sun. Pretty stunning views when seen without people. There are no trash cans near the springs, you have to carry your trash all the way up the hill. I don't mind this but lazy folk do not bother. Bathrooms are weird, no changing area, no privacy. Garden is nice, the giant wind chimes have a nice tone. The butterfly trees attract a lot of black swallowtails, a smaller type I have not seen before, very cool. Tried to hike downstream but it was impassible and the area was mostly stagnant pools. Surprise though, no bugs!

This is such a unique and special place from the gardens to the springs. This is a true Texas gem. We were here on a Friday so it was not as crowded. I would recommend going during the week if possible. The water is nice and cold and there was plenty of room to relax and enjoy the natural beauty and the crazy people. Pluses- rope swing, Cliff jumping, relaxing in the swimming hole- there are two!

This place is heaven on earth! So so so beautiful. Friendly people, no hassles. Fin to camp and swim. The pool is refreshingly freezing!

What a unique and fun experience. My wife and I were planning on going to Hamilton Pool Preserve but they sold out so quick. This place appeared on Yelp when we were looking for alternative activities. Krause Springs is about a 1 hour drive from Austin which isn't too bad. We got there when it opened since it read it gets pretty crowded. We got there at 9am and were the 2nd party that had arrived (parking lot only had 1 car parked). Its cash only to get in and I dont remember how much it was but its definitely less than $10pp. They also have a pump for your floaty which we didn't use since I had already killed my lungs the hour before the drive to inflate it. If you love to swim, Krause Spring has a natural area with a rope swing that is pretty fun. Water was lukewarm too. If you don't like the natural water, there is actually a pool you can swim at too. If you are done chilling in the water, there is a butterfly garden to walk around. People can also come and picnic or camp. Definitely recommend.

Cool retreat from the TX sun. It's warmer than Barton Springs, but cooler than Lake Travis. I thought it was just right. It's smaller than I expected-I can imagine there wouldn't be a lot of space on the weekend to set up your patch of earth with a chair or two. So my recommendation is to play hooky or take a "mental health" day during the week. All the people were super chill-friendly, fun, and just generally social. We floated around,swung on the rope swing, stood under the waterfall, enjoyed a cold drink, and chilled in our chairs on the water's edge. It was really a nice afternoon escape. They have a compressor to blow up your inflatables. There is a limit on float size- no bigger than 5' tall. They also have a man made pool with spring water as well as the natural spring area, which is more scenic. It honestly doesn't feel like you're in Texas anymore- the large old trees create dappled light and protect visitors from the Texas sun. This park is truly one of a kind. If you're looking for an outdoor event space, or to take some pictures that will take your breath away...please do come here! They even have the most beautiful butterfly garden and all of the wildflowers in the spring time. I really do think I underestimated how lovely this place was until I actually came here. It's like an oasis of peace and serenity. I ended up doing a relaxed trail run here (yes that is what I do to relax...RUN haha) and enjoyed the festivities at the annual trail running festival. Pick your flavor, full marathon, half and even 5k/10k for all of you taking the leap into a consistent running routine! If you are new to trails I will say the course out there is technical and not for the faint of heart. Lots of climbing, rocks, roots and opportunities to bust your hiney. But hey...that's why it's FUN...right!? Gotta add a little difficulty. This part of hill country truly is something special and whether you are coming here to run the trails, float the river, or wedding photos you will fall in love with it just like I did. There is a small park fee to get in (mine was covered by the race) but it is well worth it.

Cute & fun spot! Perfect nature day for family and friends There are bbq pits you can cook at The bathroom are nice and clean and have showers in them. There's a rope swing into the water and a cliff people were jumping off of. Don't forget to pack: chairs, towels, floaties, a speaker, and a cooler with all drink snacks etc Near the entrance there is also a beautiful chime garden and butterfly sanctuary

No words other than AMAZEBALLZZZ!!! Amazing garden, butterfly garden, fountains, trees, oversized wind chimes, man made spring pool, natural spring pool , cliff jumping, rope swing, waterfall and grotto. When I experienced Krause Springs I felt the business wanted to leave the most highest impressions and it did.

Trust yelp pictures before you trust Instagram photos. $8 per person over 12 years old. No reservations. Large parking lot to park. The pathways Include steps to get to all 3 locations. The waterfall was a great sight and felt amazing in the hot sun. Great for pictures. There is a natural pool in the middle section, not the main attraction but good to bring smaller kids too. The main attraction takes a couple more steps to get to. The rocks can be slippery when going down to the water. BRING WATER SHOES. High Recommend. Tons of rocks and not much smooth surfaces. Tons of shade to avoid the sun. They were apparently limiting capacity at the time of my visit but groups and groups of people kept coming in. About 50 minutes from Downtown, Austin. Nice for something to do instead of sitting in the house.

This place is so magickal! Worth the drive. Beautiful gardens featuring large, soothing windchimes, butterfly attracting plants, and a man-made grotto. There is a spring fed man-made pool with COLD water, and then further down is natural pool that is shaded by trees, has a waterfall, and rope swing. They allow floats. They permit both tent and RV camping (reserve in advance). No pets.

I think your view of Krause Springs will change depending on when you go. I've been during a hot summer day when it was overcrowded, no room to put your things (there is no lawn, per se, where you can keep an eye on your stuff), the water has been churned up by many feet so the pool is murky, you're basically elbowing other families for space in the water or on the slippery rocks. I've also been on a warm fall day after school is back in session and have basically had the place to ourselves -- beautiful green water, idyllic waterfalls, lovely scenery. I would not recommend Krause for busy watering-hole fun more than once a summer; it's worth the experience once, but there are better pools for cheaper and closer (Krause's $8 vs. Barton Spring's $3pp). It really is beautiful though.

Such a lovely place to explore and relax. The pool was cold, but I was there in September. I'm sure during the summer months it feels refreshing. The natural springs is beautiful and so serene. I loved walking through the garden and relaxing in a hammock.

Spent a great Saturday at Krause Springs with a couple of friends. The butterfly garden is beautiful and would be a lovely spot for any kind of photography portraits. The swimming was nice and cool on a hot Summer day. Expect slime/moss. It is a natural spring/swimming hole so there will be nature there. While we were there on Saturday there were a lot of families with a lot kids, so splashing was a thing. Highly recommend 1)chacos/tevas/swimming shoes, 2) Floaties/Pool Noodles, 3)Get there early for the best spot to set-up your stuff near the swimming hole for easy in/out.

Really cool place. I love the waterfall and the swimming hole. They also have hiking trails, but it was too hot to explore those. The place was really crowded probably because it was Labor Day weekend. They charge $8 per adult to enter. Overall, pretty neat place!

Only about a 50 minute drive from central Austin, we found a lovely oasis at Krause Springs, in Spicewood, TX. The park-like grounds are spacious, with plenty of parking. After paying the $9 admission, we began a delightful afternoon. First we enjoyed the beautiful tropical garden, that I wasn't even expecting. We brought a great picnic lunch, and enjoyed it on their nice picnic grounds. Close-by we saw a large area with many campers and tents. After our picnic, we returned our extra baggage to the car, then we took the short walk down the easy paved path to the huge natural springs below. The water was cool and perfect and not too deep. We we truly appreciated how nice the water was. It was late June, so as the afternoon progressed, many families with large inflated tubes came. We had enjoyed several hours there, so we left in mid-afternoon. They stay open until 9:00PM in the summer, so I would recommend coming early, before noon, or enjoy a late afternoon swim and dinner picnic. We loved Krause Springs and will definitely return! P.S. Be sure to wear some older athletic shoes, or water shoes, for navigating the slippery rocks into the water, at the end of the path.

My two night visit here was peaceful and perfect! I'll definitely be back!! Especially in the summertime!

This place is lovely! We love bringing our kids here to play in the cold spring-fed pool and to walk around the garden of sound. They have two waterfalls, and at the far back, there is an additional spring you can swim in. I've been here while a wedding was taking place. I thought it was a charming and organic place to say I-do. I would highly recommend This place. Also, I'm pretty sure you can camp or RV here too.

I really enjoyed my time here! It definitely felt more secluded compared to like Barton Springs. Very scenic and intimate. I would come again if I had a chance!

Krause springs is definitely a beautiful treasure to preserve. We enjoyed our time swimming in the pool and camping. I would appreciate more signage regarding leave no trace and recycling. Quite surprised to not see more of effort on the part of management in this regard bc who needs to see a huge garbage bin in the middle of a beautiful space? As it was, we saw so much waste in the use of single use plastic and ppl hauling bags and bags of trash into the park trash bins. I would have though more patrons would understand they are not at home and to be more mindful of their impact. It was such a contradiction and disappointing to witness. We did love butterfly gardens. They are beautiful and so where the springs meandering through here. Beautiful hiking and a peaceful place. The lack of leave not trace won't keep us from going to such a beautiful space. we will continue to be mindful of our footprint as we visit Krause spring in the future.

Oof. Vacation gone sour. After reading the website i was sold, 32 springs yeah right...lol I asked the guy at the front and he said "they'd be hard to get to, theres the pool an spring right down there". & Honestly all the staff were pretty rude, and it was disgustingly crowded, both in camping areas, by the pool & spring. OH, and not to mention at night when it was time to go to sleep we heard LOUD music all night... apparently a music venue opened across the lake. We heard people cheering and music bumping all night. It was honestly a pretty terrible time We took a ride down the road and found a better place to stay instead.

Wow! Lots of kids! If you are a parent and your kids have extra energy to burn off on the weekend, this is the place for you. If you don't have kids and are looking to chill, maybe go M-F during a school week. The children to adult ratio had to be 1:3. For reference, I arrived 20 minutes after opening on a Saturday. We were excited to score a spot, but upon entering quickly realized no one followed the "mask required" signs, so definitely proceed at your own risk. I went to the restroom and was disappointed they were so dirty, toilet paper on the ground and out of soap and paper towels, 20 minutes after opening. Fortunately they provided hand sanitizer so I scored some of that on the way out. The man made pool is really nice, but quite small. We proceeded to the lower swimming area that had the most gorgeous Alocasia regal shield growing at the top of the springs, it was quite glorious. After getting in and floating for a little while though, I sadly noticed a couple solo cups and energy drink cans laying on the banks of the swimming area. The staff were friendly but I don't know if I'll be going back anytime soon. Depending on what you're looking for it could be the place for you, definitely keep in mind what day of the week you go and time of year as this will really affect the experience!

Krause Springs was a very fun trip me and my boyfriend planned. It's a short 45 min drive from Austin and I got there on a Monday, around 5pm. Masks are required to wear around the area. We kept our distance at all times but it does get very slippery. I am 4"11 and not a strong swimmer and some parts of the spring was too deep for me. You can bring your own floats (and I recommend it for folks who can't swim well) and I do believe they have a pump up front if you need help getting it set up. There's a pool in the front which is safer for little kiddos too, and the spring is located behind it down some steps. I did slip on some rocks (ouch) so I would recommend water shoes if you have any! We were exploring the area and we came across some wasps and snakes in a more far away (and rockier) part that isn't easily accessible, so make sure you're being very cautious of your surroundings if you decide to venture out further than the main area.

I finally ventured out to KS late one Wed afternoon and turns out that was the magical hour...between 4-5:30pm on a Wed afternoon in April. I practically had the place to myself until a terribly obnoxious kid w/his parents of the trailer park variety showed up ruining the quiet solace for everyone, as they are want to do. Seriously, this kid, jumped in the water right next to me and splashed all over me w/just a "oh, sorry bout that". But, when you name your kid "Blaine" and let him run around screaming bloody murder for no reason at all, I'm guessing you are already an a-hole, so it follows that your spawn would be. That nonsense aside, Krause Springs is a fantastic little get away in the hill country and well worth the $7 entry fee. I brought my tube for some extra-relaxing float action right under the waterfall that was especially gratifying. The springs area itself is pretty smallish, so I can only imagine that it would not be nearly as enjoyable on a crowded day. There is also a spring fed pool on the upper level, but honestly, if you came all the way out here, you might as well enjoy the springs "au naturale". The owners are nice enough and you pay at the entrance and then walk in. There is a bathroom facility w/shower, but the stalls are just double doors that do not lock, so there is zero pee privacy if there is a crowd. Thankfully, when I used the bathroom and shower facilities, I was the only one in the place. I have to say, my favorite place (other than floating just in front of the Falls) was sitting in the garden area by the entrance and listening to the symphonic duet of the collection of wind chimes and the waterfall installation. I literally sat there for a solid 30 by myself in full zen bliss! I don't know that i would be back because I don't do well with rowdy crowds and the couple w/the horrific kid really killed my Zen buzz and it honestly just takes one of those to ruin a moment, but I am still so glad I went. It really was a perfectly gorgeous day to enjoy another natural enclave so near Austin.

I enjoyed it, there are some pot smokers and people sneaking cigarettes. I wish there was more accountability for those who don't respect the rules. The water was darker than I thought based off the online pictures. For the price of entrance and place I believe it's worth it. Would I drive from Houston to Krause Springs exclusively, no. But if you have spare time when visiting Austin it can be a nice time.

Krause Springs my favorite Central Texas camping location! Its like a hidden tropical oasis. I love that it is privately owned, I love the no dogs rule! There are several swimming area's, I prefer the bottom part of the springs with the waterfall and cave. The natural pool is nicer but nowhere near as nice as the natural pool at barton springs. The cave behind the waterfall is super scary but the whole thing is beautiful. If you want you can camp in one of the large hollowed out tree's. That also seems very scary. We found an awesome camping spot down by a little creek that you could perch fish in. We were there on a weekday so it wasn't very busy. There's lots of turtles in the water so the perch fishing isn't great but is very relaxing. If the burn ban is in effect you have to get a container to have a fire. This is still great because in most central Texas parks that have camp grounds you cant have a fire. I don't like camping without a campfire it just doesnt feel right. I'm tempted to give them a perfect score but I do wish the gate didn't lock at 9pm..
