How to Eat Your Way Through Phnom Penh, According to a Chef Rotanak Ros | Condé Nast Traveler

"Kravanh has made an effort to preserve and uplift Cambodian cuisine,' says Ros. It's the type of restaurant high-ranking government officials will take visitors to show off the country's culinary prowess. Ros has been eating here since before she became a chef: 'I love their amok, which has a thick, creamy lemongrass paste and coconut milk.' This signature Cambodian dish is usually made with whitefish wrapped in a banana leaf, but Ros always goes for the version with snails, a common protein in Khmer cuisine."

Outstanding Khmer food in the area. The restaurant has an elegant and classic atmosphere that feels quite peaceful. There are spaces available both indoors and outdoors. The menu offered a range of food options. The food decoration and utensils have a charming vintage and unique style. The service is excellent. We tried the fish amok, which was surprisingly delicious, even though it's not usually my favourite. The tamarind stir-fried frog is my top choice, and I haven't found anything that compares to its unique flavour. The papaya salad is relatively simple but really tasty, and the spring rolls are fantastic, filled with juicy meat. The dessert has a perfect level of sweetness, which is great. I recommend trying their Kravanh seeds herbal tea; it's truly a hidden treasure. The price reflects the value of what you ordered and the enjoyment you experience while eating it. This will always be my top choice for Khmer food and a great recommendation for friends from abroad.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5/5) Really enjoyed my lunch here! The Khmer dishes were rich, flavorful, and full of unique spices that make the cuisine so special. Every bite felt authentic and well-balanced. The atmosphere was cozy and relaxing, perfect for enjoying a hearty meal. The staff were very pleasant and welcoming, which made the experience even better. Loved the little touches too, like the complimentary banana dessert and service water. Overall, a wonderful spot for delicious Khmer food with great vibes and warm hospitality! highly recommended!

A beautiful gem of an oasis awaits behind the outer wall. They have seating inside, but on a great day it’s hard to be dining in their garden setting. I had their sour beef soup and it was delicious and on point also got the fresh coconut, which was refreshingly cold. It’s a wonderful spot to bring someone when you want to have some upscale Khmer food in a gorgeous atmosphere. highly recommend.

A friend recommended this place for my first trip to Phnom Penh. The atmosphere was lovely. I sat in the terrace and tried several dishes. Food is reminiscent of Thai / Vietnamese but with ingredients I wasn’t familiar with, which made my visit very exciting and fun. The menu offers variety and nice explanation of dishes. I took home the leftovers and they were very tasty the day after as well. I’d go back to try more dishes on my next visit.

Our Cambodian friend recommended this restaurant and we went there for lunch. It was our favorite restaurant of our trip. The atmosphere was amazing, service was great and the food was delicious. Every dish we tried was amazing and I would love to go back again for more. I wanted to try the whole menu haha.

Absolutely gorgeous foods here, it’s the best dining experience I had while I was in Phnom Penh. Backed from the main street in this French heritage building, there’s a little pool on the side, would be nice to be seated outside if it was a good weather. Ingredients were fresh and not what we used to see on the table. The pumpkin stem stir fry was my favourite, it’s crunchy and refreshing, tender and not fibrous. The bullfrogs were great and definitely a must order, the seasoning was on point, crispy outside and juicy inside. The snail was alright. There’s a lot of other things I can’t name but always ask the waiter to suggest.

Fancy atmosphere with a large pool, lush plants, and traditional Buddhist sculptures in a colonial building. Dedicated vegetarian menu. I had 3 superb dishes. Kind, attentive service. Highly recommended!

Amazing Khmer cuisine in a beautiful setting. Lovely use of local ingredients paired with fresh seafood and punchy flavours. Presentation is on point too. Definitely worth a detour!
