This hotel was booked for me by the institution I was visiting. The location was perfect, close to the train station, next to a Weinachtsmarkt, and with lots of restaurants nearby.
However, the booked “Deluxe/Superior” room was very bare. We were given a room at the very top floor, with lots of beams and slanted walls. You could not walk around the bed standing upright, but had to bend over. We bumped our heads several times unpacking or going to the bathroom at night. Bedding was very minimal, just two pillows and two duvets for the two person bed, with two separate mattresses. The beds were very good though.
The room had a very small desk with a big lamp that took up lots of room. We could not work both at the same time. The storage space was also disappointing, just two small shelves with some space taken up by glasses. It had a rod for clothes that was hung too low, so my dress was partially resting on the floor. An extra cabinet with some drawers would have been nice. The bathroom was pretty good, with a nice shower that did not leak (yeah!), but the rain shower head had not been descaled in years, and had little calcium rings around the spouts. The promised ‘toiletries’ were absolutely minimal, with no separate shampoo or conditioner, just one soap for all your body parts.
We also did not have the promised coffee maker, nor the promised fridge. The room just had a bed, a desk with chair, another chair, a suitcase rack, and a tv. No rugs, decorations, just a bare wooden floor.
The room had heating, but even though it was freezing outside, and we regularly opened the window, we never had to use the heating. I assume this room gets very hot in summer - luckily it did have airconditioning.
Our room was also facing the street, and there were people outside talking loudly and shouting pretty much all night, or trucks unloading goods all of the 5 nights we stayed there, so you could not sleep with the window open. The window was soundproof so closing it helped, but then it would get very stuffy and warm in the room. Bring earplugs.
In the positive side, the room was very clean and breakfast was good. It had a good selection of breads, meats and cheeses, scrambled eggs, boiled eggs, and yoghurts, including lactose-free and vegan options.
WiFi was good enough for a zoom call.
This hotel is a solid choice because it is close to a lot of musea and the station, clean, with a good breakfast. However, we felt disappointed that our attic room looked nothing like the photos, that it was not the deluxe room with coffeemaker and fridge that we had been promised, that it was very bare and lacking storage space.
