The reception staff are professional, friendly and helpful. So far, so good.||The room was small - basically a 3/4 bed, small wardrobe and a desk. OK - I wasn't spending much time in the room, so that didn't bother me. ||Good parts: The bed was comfy and the shower had lovely hot water. I didn't hear my neighbours (if there were any). Network connectivity was good. There's a little library on the 5th floor. Free bus ticket given by the hotel. ||What did bother me was:||1) The floor was gritty - as if it hadn't been cleaned|2) I dropped something and in retrieving it I noticed that a previous room user had left some items under the bed, which was very dusty. The rest of the room also hadn't been dusted for some time. (see pic)|3) There was only one pillow which seems particularly stingy|4) Only one towel - not even the standard small and large. I went to reception to fetch another one but it was withdrawn by cleaning staff the next day so one towel is obviously policy|5) There is no hook to hang up your coat. This is not an expensive item but makes a big difference. You hardly want to hang your wet coat in the wardrobe to drip on your shoes. |6) No kettle in the room (just a room on the 4th floor for all guests, which you can't exactly use in your night attire)|7) The safe was wonky and I ended up not using it|8) There was a bell tower outside my room. (see pic) The bell rings hourly 24hours a day. Sleeping is challenging with this kind of noise.|9) No iron in the room. You have to fetch one from reception. You do not get an ironing board and the room desk is too small - so you have to kneel on the floor to iron. Not a big deal but meh |10) Breakfast was underwhelming. The boiled eggs were cold. The offering was sparse compared to hotels I recently stayed in, in Porto and Prague where the breakfast set me up for the day. And .... the rooms there cost less than this one||I expected so much from this Bern hotel - the disappointment is real

Disappointing Stay, Not Worth the Price!! Our experience at this hotel was highly disappointing and certainly not worth the €380 per night we paid. Upon arrival, our room was not ready on time. We had to repeatedly ask the staff for an update, and they didn't offer any explanation or even a glass of water while we waited. The hotel and our room were far from clean. The floorboards creaked loudly with every step, and the air conditioning unit sounded like a helicopter. In the bathroom, the sink was clogged, and the water drained very slowly. The beds were also a major issue. The pillows were paper-thin, and the crib mattress was so thin that you could feel the metal frame underneath. Breakfast was also a letdown with limited options. Worth to mention that Paolo, a member of the breakfast staff, was incredibly polite and helpful. The only positive was the location, as the hotel is within walking distance of major attractions like the Zytglogge. We would not recommend this hotel.

Our family of 5 stayed here earlier this month and had two different experiences. The first thing to know is the hotel is undergoing renovations, resulting in an 'old' section and a 'new' section. My daughter and her husband had a room in the new section and it was fantastic - bright, airy, nice view, and working air-conditioning. My husband, son and I had a triple room in the old section with no view, scaffolding right outside the window, and poor AC. I did contact the front desk and, while there was no room available for us in the new section, they did respond right away and provided us with rotating fans which made a noticeable difference. Unfortunately the hotel restaurant was closed for renovations, however there is a breakfast buffet included with the stay which was a nice way to start every day. The hotel is very well-located in Bern's old town, walking distance from the train station. My suggestions to the hotel to improve guests' comfort are to provide mini-fridges in every room, and to have an ironing board available on request.

Had a great stay at this hotel! Centrally located, so we could walk to all of the locations we wanted to see! Nice breakfast, friendly staff, comfy bed. Would recommend this hotel for its location!

Great location in center Bern. Exceptional for visiting the town. The room that I booked was very small, but cosy and comfortable. Breakfast had a nice choice of savory and sweet choices. The restaurant is also good. I would recommend the Kreuz Bern Hotel.

I have been coming here for many years and this by far is the worst hotel in Bern. My room looks like a student dorm. Avoid by all means. Camping is more comfortable.

I have stayed in this hotel several times over the past two years. The rooms vary a lot in terms of size and comfort with some being quite small, but all are clean and have everything you need for a comfortable night. The service is friendly and the location perfect and very central, great in December to access the Christmas market just next door. The breakfast is fine but not great.
