Landgasthof Kreuz Kappel (Mittelland, Switzerland) 1 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"We often talk as though “traditional” and “modern” are in opposition, but in Switzerland, they’re serious about upholding the values of traditional hospitality, even if some of the aesthetics have changed. Landgasthof Kreuz Kappel, for example, was established 350 years ago, and from the outside, it looks it — though well maintained, it’s a timeless example of traditional Swiss architecture. Inside, however, it’s another story: the rooms in the main house are modern and minimalist in style, while the newest rooms, built in the old barn, use more typically traditional materials and textures, though to no less contemporary effect." - Tablet Hotels

The location was just off our path between Germany and Lake Como, making for the perfect stop along the way to split the trip. The accommodations were clean, updated and comfy. The food was quite good, if a bit pricey, on-par with expectations for price in Switzerland. The staff was friendly, spoke great English (bonus!), and attentive to individual requests. Our family fit perfectly into their offering of a double with two twin beds room. The lofted twins area was fun for the kids to bunk up away from parents. This hotel was overall a good value and pleasant stay.

We stopped here on our way to Champagns. It was a typical Swiss-hotel, clean, wood, fairly minimal. Beds were very comfortable and the shower was great! No air conditioning was a challenge throughout the hotel which was hot, humid and close. We ask reception for a fan for our room which we had on all night. ||Nice staff, local neighbourhood on a very busy roundabout so we suggest a bedroom overlooking the back (there are earplugs in the rooms). Good value for the area except the restaurant! ||There are no other restaurants around which accounts for the high prices of the one on sight. ||The food was good (attentive wait staff) but we were not happy about the two tables smoking around us even though on a terrace. We understood smoking to be forbidden in restaurants in Switzerland even on a terrace (open on two sides). We would otherwise have gone elsewhere as this one had ashtrays on all tables. It was also expensive for the fairly basic food we had.

I’ve never stayed in the hotel but this is one of my favorite restaurants in the area. Great classic Swiss food, exceptional service, and always welcoming employees! Their tartar is 10/10 stars!

This hotel is a good location when passing through as it is convenient for but not close to the motorway. The rooms are modern and comfortable, the breakfast was excellent and the staff extremely helpful and friendly. We had our two dogs with us and they were also welcome - for breakfast we were able to sit on the terrace with them (they are, understandably, not allowed in the breakfast room). We also had dinner in their restaurant and both the food and the service were excellent. The car park is free and spacious and offers charging stations for electric cars. We, as other guests who have reviewed, also had issues with the high temperature in the room. Despite it being cool outside, the room seemed to have poor air exchange and we had to open the terrace doors wide in order to get enough cool air to be comfy to sleep. Unfortunately we had a room towards the road (very loud until very late) and also where the extractor fan for the laundry is. The hotel provided earplugs, which tells me that they are aware of the heat/ noise situation. Furthermore, people (we assume staff) were smoking at the top of the steps leading out of the laundry, directly in front of our window, which is quite unpleasant in a no-smoking environment. We would be happy to stay here again if we were able to request a room to the back of the hotel rather than to the street.

This was our second visit and it did not disappoint. Astonishingly good value - lovely large room, clean and comfortable, helpful staff, good wifi, generous breakfast. Last time we were here the kitchen was closed, but I can now report that the restaurant is excellent, albeit rather more expensive than the hotel. The hotel is located in a small village conveniently close to the motorway; surprisingly, there was pretty regular traffic through the village throughout the night. The earplugs they supply are needed. This is mainly a place to stay en route; there is little else to see or do in the village. Overall excellent - we will be back.

I stayed with my two kids on the way from Italy to Belgium. Very clean and cosy hotel with friendly staff. Quality of dinner and breakfast is excellent. Only point of notice for me was the temperature of the room which was very hot during the night. Opening the windows wasn’t an option until quite late because of some chatty neighbors. A refrigerator in the room would also be useful. I would certainly stop here again.

Postive |Efficient service |Large modern room with wood panels and great bed |Good breakfast ||Negatives|Room was so cold. No heating in room. Underfloor heating not on as transitional season even though it was so cold. They had to bring an electrical heater. I read reviews saying it was too hot in summer , now it was too cold|Bathroom light comes in automatically but then stays on and it’s a glass door so it’s bright at night|No hooks or heater on bathroom for towels ||This was in the modern rooms. They look good but ate impractical.||I am not sure I would stay again

Stayed 1 night on my way to Italy. From booking to arrival very kind and responsive staff with regard to queries around restaurant and EV charging. The room (Alpin style) very clean, nice looking and bathroom very comfortable. Breakfast was great, lots to choose from and good quality. Restaurant offers a wide variety of fish, meat and veggie options, enjoyed the food (some bread or small appetizer from the house would make it even better). EV charging seamless and very nice to have free of charge take away coffee for an early morning ride. The bed was too soft for me and as it was quite warm I had the window open which was not smart as there was quite some traffic late night/ early morning (must admit that I did not use the hotel-provided ear plugs
