Tasty breakfast and perfect portion size. We had the French toast and scrambled eggs. Service was excellent, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the coffee was excellent. Located on a quirky street, enjoy a slow stroll amongst the plants and art following a delicious breakfast!

My friends and I ended at Krimper Cafe after the cafe we tried to dine in told us that we had to wait at least 30-35 minutes. But we like the atmosphere in Krimper, and I watched the brilliant host, waitstaff and food runners worked together nonstop to cope with a constant flow of people into the restaurant, while maintaining their friendliness and cool. We had to wait for about 25 minutes, but we did get a table for 4. The table size is smaller than usual and quite crowded for adults, but we were delighted by the decorations around us, and the coffee was served first as the food items would take 30 minutes to be ready. The coffee was great, but we were very hungry. We arrived at around 10:20am and the food arrived at 11:25am. The brunch had turned into a nice lunch 😂. The dishes were well presented and they tasted good, not extraordinary but the serving was generous enough and fresh, I had to work til late afternoon and my order of the Big Brekkie Platter was enough to last me until I arrived home for dinner on that day. Unlike the other cafe we didn't dine in, Krimper doesn't have limited dining time, my former colleagues and I could chat to our heart's content until I had to go to work. The place was still buzzing with lots of people from all walks of life when we were leaving at 12:30pm, and the host was still smiling when I thanked her on our way out. If you don't mind the wait and the noise of people happily talking and laughing around you, Krimper Cafe is a great choice when visiting the CBD.

This was my third visit to the venue, and unfortunately, it was the most underwhelming - especially disappointing as I had guests with me this time from Tasmania and Brisbane. Let’s start with the positives: pricing is reasonable at face value, and the menu reads well. However, the actual portion sizes left much to be desired. The "Big Breakfast" lived up to its name in theory only but in reality, it barely satisfied a modest adult appetite. One of my friends ordered the Salmon Eggs Benedict. While the presentation was neat, the base - an undersized English muffin. My own dish, the Chilli Prawn Scrambled Eggs, was served on toast that lacked both quality and substance. The bread was thin and dry. To add to the disappointment, the service was sluggish. Our meals took over 45 minutes to arrive. In summary: while the pricing may initially seem fair, the portion sizes and overall value do not measure up. It’s a shame - this cafe once had promise, but unless improvements are made to both service and serving size, I’ll have to reconsider returning.

Nice place to visit for breakfast/lunch. Great food, for the queue it took us 30 minutes on Sunday afternoon so I guess if you come other days / time this wouldn’t take this long. Not too sure if you can reserve.

Left a lot to be desired for. Ordered shakshuka with mushrooms. Presentation wasn’t impressive. The sauce was runny. Uncooked onions and a lot of it. Mushrooms were from a can. I don’t think it was fresh mushrooms. One half of egg was absolutely raw while the other half was overcooked!!! Doesn’t have heating and windows were open during cold winter. It was unpleasant. For a midweek breakfast, 80% of the tables were free and yet I got a really small table. Nobody came to check how the food was. The only good thing is that it is located in a beautiful lane. Hot chocolate was good. Ambience is (as advertised), old school. Won’t be going there in a hurry.

Service was prompt and friendly, and the staff made sure we were looked after without hovering. Prices were reasonable for the quality and portion sizes. Definitely a gem worth visiting if you’re after good food, great coffee, and even better vibes!

Google
came here early in the morning as its one of the few breakfast places opened early, it was empty when we came in around 9. the employees are so friendly and lovely and the food is so good! they are such HUGE plates for its price, was a great way to start our trip!

Been here a few times now as it is a great spot. It can get busy so plan ahead and bring patience. Favourite dish are the bacon waffles. Coffee is good, and service friendly and super efficient. I like the tall communal tables when I travel solo as it helps meeting people.

Yelp
Popped in after a visit to the Cat Cafe , a nice rustic looking cafe situated in a warehouse , menu a mix of Korean and euro Korean , nice atmosphere

Yelp
A great find had the burger for lunch, a little slow on the cooking, but it was worth the wait if only I was not on a short lunch break. Good ambience inside, tucked away in a lane, good vibe, great service and the warehouse look is always good as not jam-packed inside with seats all over you. Great to find a place with room. Menue was good, and overall a good experince.

Yelp
Really love this place. It's in near Melbourne Central but hidden in one of the lanes. Their signboard on above the door is kinda small. The interior is cosy and not crowded (maybe because it's 11ish on a Monday) Coffee is good. Food is good (need to wait a bit). Would have stayed longer for one more coffee and pork ragu if I didn't have a flight to catch. :)

Yelp
Located again in a hidden laneway ie Guildford lane is this massive industrial styled cafe behind heavy closed wooden doors. Enter a freezing but welcoming space with wooden tables and chairs and friendly welcoming staff. The menu is a fusion of sorts with a pork bao-nedict which is a white floury bun stuffed with pulled pork. Get the cheese nan with pumpkin, mushrooms, feta and fried egg. Or try a Lamb tagine or cauliflower salad from the lunch menu. Good for groups. No queues on a Sunday at around 11. Coffee from proud marys. Reasonable portions and well priced. I got a large cappuccino and the cheese naan dish for 21.50. My coffee was quite awful. The cheese naan was floury bread with feta on top. Went well with mashed pumpkin and mushrooms and cherry tomatoes. Didn't see any sweet chilli sauce which was promised on the menu. The fried egg didn't go with the naan. Maybe tofu or eggplant would have been better. Or even some beans. My brunch companion enjoyed his smashed avocado on multigrain toast with perfectly poached eggs and chilli pine nuts.

Yelp
I could go on and on about the solid coffee from Proud Mary, the great tea selection, delectable cakes (GF brownie with banana chunks in it anyone?), the cool tunes, industrial feel, friendly staff or the menu that can take you from morning, to lunch to after work snacks... but well, I'd rather tell you about the nook. Yup. The nook. In the middle of this large cafe is a little cubby-house like structure that has a table set for four inside. Score this spot and you're going to be super chuffed. Its cute, private and you can pretend you're a four year old playing tea parties all over again.

Yelp
The "Melbourne" cafe doesn't come much more hidden and "Melbourne" than Krimper! With two secret entrances down different alleys the choice is yours as to how you want to arrive. The building is a refurbished furniture warehouse and you might guess the place is huge. Staff are amazing and will guide you to one of the many tables, my favourite space is in the wooden box room sitting in the middle of the main area. It feels private and cool tucked away in your own space. Coffee is by Proud Mary (one of my favourite roasters) and poured absolutely perfectly. My hot tip is to get the "Red Eye" - 2 double restrettos served black! That always sends my heart into overdrive. The first time I tried their banana bread with espresso butter I knew I had found my true love. They often run out of it once the word got out how good this stuff is so get in quick! The full lunch and brunch menu is packed full of quality, tasty goodies. It's very hard to go past the sandwiches (these are not your normal tuck shop goodies) but the avocado and eggs is absolute delicious. My tip is to bring your friends to the back entrance and through the big unmarked wooden red doors - it feels like you are going into a secret club and guaranteed to impress (plus it's fun popping up right next to the counter). The staff are welcoming and always have a good suggestion if you can't decide between all the amazing food options. This is one of my favourite cafes in Melbourne.

Yelp
Well sized warehouse based cafe! Krimper is hissed down the back alley ways amongst Melbourne's great CBD! I have attended here few times to enjoy a nice coffee, and it does it well! such a great layout of a venue, amazing coffee and great staff! It's a must visit! I attended here recently for the Sugar Hit Bollywood theme event! I loved the idea of it and was excited to attend! However the poorly layout out event made it really hard to enjoy, whilst trying to enjoy some of the treats on offer you were pushed and shoved and left standing aimlessly waiting for something to come your way, although I was looking forward to trying everything, I was just counting down until we could leave! this could be arranged a lot nice to make it easier for people to walk through. So I won't be attending any more sugar hits but will be back for the cafe for sure :-)

Yelp
Impressive place. Beautifully tucked down Guildford Lane. Looks inviting from the outside. Surprisingly huge inside and nicely appointed. There's heaps of room to stretch out. Service was beautiful throughout here. Polite, occasionally funny and very efficient. Most impressive. The juices were good and the food was good as well. I had the chicken salad and it was excellent. Very good place. I'd return very happily.

Yelp
Beautiful industrial building in the exclusive Guilford Lane. I stumbled across this gem on a raining Thursday afternoon. Lucky enough to be seated in the 'lift' - a super cool wooden enclave (see my photo!) in the middle of the space. I dried off for a few minutes while one of the attentive staff brought over menus and a cheery smile. A perfect coffee accompanied by the 'poached eggs benedict with ham hock and hollandaise' was just what the damp doctor ordered! Ill definitely be heading back to Krimper very soon.

Yelp
We saw Krimper on our way to Rustica and it looked so warm and cozy.. we had breakfast and I rode rd my first ever French toast.. it was that or the avocado but I'm a huge fig fan so the fig in this dish sold it to me.. it arrived sans fig, hmmmm, when I asked the waitress if I perhaps missed the fig - perhaps it was the red blobs on my plate? She advised sometimes they run out of figs, usually the kitchen would tell them.. but obviously not today.. guess what ? It was still super yummy even with a tiny side of disappointment ..

Yelp
I am conflicted about this café because the food is phenomenal, fresh, delicious but the service was worse than anything I had seen before. Would highly recommend the bacon and waffles, and the the burger. A bit expensive considering they are basic, unextraordinary dishes, but perhaps the best things come in simple packages. Was very surprised to see the food turn out beyond my expectations, and I've rarely seen rustic done well. Interestingly, I found my appetite increased as the meal went on. On the other hand, upon entering the cafe it was unclear whether we were supposed to sit, be offered a table, or order at the counter. This took several minutes of loitering. It took a solid 20 minutes for the waitress to take our orders -- and this was done with unenthusiastic behaviour, with us having to resort to flagging down the waiter (not a good a feeling). No indication of where we were supposed to pay, severely understaffed establishment, yet some staff were seen chatting to customers when orders were not being taken. Iced chocolate was simply milk mixed with syrup and a skimpy amount of ice cream at an exorbitant price. It's a shame the food was fantastic, but the time it took just to order compared to other restaurants was enough to stop me from returning.

Yelp
Need a place to relax for breakfast or lunch? Old school cobblestone alleyways take you to this secret warehouse cafe for a variety of food from baked eggs to burgers. I have been to Krimper cafe on a few different occasions however my favorite is when they host events as the breakfast I had was a bit on the pricey side for the wait and serving size. They ran a series of "Sugar Hit" events with different themes so if that happens again it is definitely worth checking out and getting there early!

Yelp
This place was recommended by my partners daughter . As you expect in Melbourne it's down a lane way , which you would walk past every day without knowing it was here. Coffee perfect, service prompt and friendly, breakfast fabulous. I ordered the French toast 2 inches thick, that came with all theses amazing sorbets , fresh fruit, and flowers, Semolina fries , her dish was absolutely incredible ( please look at photo ) . This is a must for breakfast .

Yelp
So this became my go-to spot during the second half of the pandemic. The restaurant manager, whose name escapes me, was a delight! The baristas are talented and never fail to deliver. They have all sorts of milk options, and the ambience is unbeatable--very grunge, meets alternative, meets plant mom vibes. They have some banging dishes as well--they put some delicious mustard sauce on their chicken schnitzel that's to die for. Their kale bowl is healthy but flavory playful. Their baked goods are actually FRESHHHH, but even then get their chocolate croissant just a tad toasted it'll melt your mouthhh!

Yelp
Huge industrial space-cum-cafe, Krimper is tucked away in an alleyway off Williams St (LaTrobe end) and could be easily missed by anyone not looking for it. It's worth seeking out. This cafe offers loads of space, tables, food and snack options and Proud Mary coffee. If you're looking to hide away from the world, there's even a little enclosed spot in the centre. Ideal for a brunch/lunch catch up or a quiet bleary eyed morning if you don't want too many people to know what you look like pre-coffee.

Yelp
Yelp needs an adventurer badge for finding places like this. Melbourne does have lots of these and they are usually worth the wandering around back alleys and dead ends to find them. Once you do find the place, its a great space! Wide open and combinations of large tables and bench space. Service gets slow when only half full so probably not the place to visit in a hurry. If you have the time though, the food is well worth the wait with an excellent variety and freshness. I had the tuna and soft-boiled egg bruchetta with Rocket. Very yummy.

Yelp
Food: Not so great. I had bad experiences with the Duck in Pan dish and an alright 'El Desayuno'. Perhaps I ought to try another dish but it's highly unlikely I'll come back here for a third attempt unless I don't have a choice. Drinks: The coffee here is pretty great. I loved my flat white and would come back here for a takeaway coffee if I'm around. Environment: This place reminds me of a warehouse. Their interior design is pretty great and I loved how it is hidden in this alleyway. Overall, I am willing to give this place another try but I'm not getting my hopes up in regards of their food.

Yelp
Service: good. Wait staff very attentive and quick service. Interior: well decorated and warehouse style. Coffee: ordered a flat white. One shot was not enough for the type of coffee served (Proud Marys). Had to add an extra espresso shot to give it the kick other coffees can do with a single shot. On the upside, Proud Mary's tastes good as a single short black (but not for flat white). Food: had scrambled eggs on toast. Really nice big portion. But it was really salty and oily. Chef overzealous on the use of butter in the scrambled eggs?

Yelp
This place was a bit hard to find but so worth it. The coffee is strong and the food is solid good. I ordered the Asparagus wrapped prosciutto on a pesto brioche with pickled beets. It was so beautiful looking and delicious too! Instagrammable AND tasty! I'm a little bit skeptical when it comes to trendy places that try to make their food and dining room look ready for their Instagram moment but this place does not disappoint on taste.

Yelp
Really chill and nice place to have lunch with your mates. I love the look of the brick interior on the inside. I ordered the Krimper burger and couldn't finish it! It was really filling, especially with the chips - which were nice and crunchy but I couldn't finish those either! Definitely need to come back to try out the other dishes!

Yelp
Can't get much more Melbourne than this place for breakfast. Down a couple of laneways, inside a gigantic (attractively fitted out) warehouse space, pulsating EDM at 8:30am. Food very good, Staff surprisingly friendly and helpful. Bonus for replacing partner's latte for free when he used the salt ( white, in dish) instead of (cinnamon brown "Honeysuckle" ) sugar. I think they were bemused by the two Yanks abroad. Definitely recommend for breakfast if the above appeals.

Meahan C.

Yelp
Delicious Tom yum soup, couldn't finish it very cool place on the lane if you are this end of town

Yelp
Nice quiet spot & great decor. Food & staff outstanding If you haven't been there to eat, do yourself a favour Love it.

Yelp
Breakfasts are too complicated for their own good. Lovely warehouse space good for a coffee and sweet pastry.
google avatar

Kristina D.

Yelp
Please don't order iced green tea lattes they are essentially milk, ice and matcha powder served in tiny glass bottle with mushy paper straws... That being said please DO order their special black sesame smoothie (it's a special so not always on the menu). Food here is average to good so come more so for the coffee!
google avatar

Yelp
Go here. This place was recommended by a friend and is a gem! I'm still dreaming about the ciabatta I had here for brunch on Monday. The food is mouth watering, filling and reasonably priced. I actually only paid $10 for a massive ciabatta filled with avocado, bacon and devilled eggs. The service was great and the people are friendly. I was quite fussy with what I wanted on/ removed and they catered to me perfectly without a hassle at no extra charge. I'd go back to this place in a heartbeat and you should make the effort to find it!

Anissa J.

Yelp
Went to Sugar Hit Melbourne at Krimper and it was AMAZING!!! The food from Krimper was great, except they didn't really cater for vegetarians which was disappointing. The sweets from LuxBite, Mork Chocolate and N2 were fantastic! Overall it was a great night at a cool warehouse location, with friendly staff and yummy sweets. Really hoping to visit Krimper again and hope that this won't really be the last Sugar Hit Melbourne!

Cheryl D.

Yelp
Cute space down a cute hidden lane. The coffee and breakie roll special is fantastic and great value at $10. You can dine in or takeaway

Shoshanna S.

Yelp
Beautiful location and gorgeously decorated. The staff are all super lovely and ensure that you're having a pleasant time throughout the whole experience. Food was great and the coffee was one of the best that I've had since arriving in Melbourne.

Yelp
I feel like I don't want to review Krimper because it's such a great secret cafe. Located in a laneway that you'd never walk down unless you were lost - this hidden gem in an old warehouse is really cool and a perfect way to impress a friend with your knowledge of Melbourne's 'cafe underworld'.

Katy G.

Yelp
I just love Krimper. Excellent coffee, food, great selections including fabulous options for veggies, whether you want something small or large. Gorgeous place w indoor wall bike racks for the cyclists, pretty lights and communal or regular tables.
