Krinos (since 1923)

They've been making loukoumades since 1923 so I figured they're doing something right! The dining area is large, spacious and with it's old photos and memorabilia, it's quite nostalgic. We headed to the back to order - the menu is in Greek but Google Translate came to my rescue. We went for the traditional topping of syrup, cinnamon and walnuts. The loukoumades were warm and fresh - crisp on the outside (even with the syrup on top) and soft and fluffy inside. They were surprisingly light and totally delicious.

Beautiful place for time traveling experience. Delicious loukoumades (syrup + cinnamon + ice cream) and pretty good Greek coffee☕️ this combo gives the perfect balance of sweet and bitterness👌and the price is (chef kiss).

Honestly, they were oily, and the syrup wasnt honey.. its fluffy once you bite into it.. but still oily.. we didnt get asked if we wanted chocolate or icecream on it.. and they were sold out of everything.. ive had better loukamades

Most of the honey was a very sugary syrup, no wonder they were very generous with it. It made me immediately dizzy. The lukumades themselves had no taste inside.

Really loved the Greek donuts. They were soft and fresh and really tasty. The honey one was our favourite. Def visit if you are in the area

These are the world’s BEST loukoumades. They are light, fluffy, and made fresh in front of you. It is a traditional old shop, not sure of its history. I’m not sure what else they sold as this is what we came for. We had the traditional version with syrup and cinnamon. We visited twice they were so good. You can eat in or take away. Nothing fancy inside but the food more than makes up for this. Will make this a definite stop next trip to Athens

Was quite the far walk but the loukamadas were delicious, they put so much honey on them there was lots for dipping. There is construction going on the street outside the restaurant so it was a little hard finding the store

Beyond the loukoumades, however, the rest of the menu doesn’t quite reach the same level. That said, the experience is still worth it, as the place itself exudes history. The walls are adorned with old photographs and memorabilia, creating a nostalgic atmosphere. We even had the chance to chat with the owner, which added a personal touch to our visit. If you’re in Athens, Krinos is a must-visit for loukoumades lovers looking for a taste of tradition.
