Iceland Itineraries: From 1 Weekend to 1 Month (Updated 2025)

"I picked up a ‘happy marriage cake’ from Kristjánsbakarí in Akureyri — the rhubarb jam–filled pastry with a buttery oat crust is a great local treat while I explored the town." - Matthew Kepnes

Perfect stop after a hot dog (!) busy but service was moving fast. Hearty donut 🍩 with delicious silky caramel topping. They have hot chocolate too.

Nice bakery at the heart of the city. The atmosphere was so welcoming. They offer free water- nice addition for customer satisfaction. We tried 2 variations of the cinnamon rolls and twisted doughnuts- all were delicious.

Kristján’s Bakery is a lovely spot in the heart of Akureyri with a cozy, welcoming atmosphere. They have a wide selection of pastries, bread, and cakes — the kleinur is soft, fresh, and a definite highlight. Coffee is good and pairs perfectly with their sweet treats. Staff are friendly and helpful, though service can slow down when it’s busy. A nice place to relax, grab breakfast, or enjoy a warm break while exploring town

That sounds like a positive review! Here's a slightly polished version if you're writing it for something like Google or Yelp: "The bread and pastries are quite good. The washrooms are clean, and they offer free water — a nice touch!" Coffee is illy, wifi is free. Great for the cruise passengers to visit.

The best cherry danish I’ve ever had. My husband couldn’t finish his chocolate cinnamon bun.

Good pastries. Small amount of seating base and out. Sign on counter said to take a number to order but we’re no numbers so just ordered. No parking but enough around to walk from.

Bread not suitable for sandwiches. 113 years of making bread and you still haven't learned how to do it. The bread falls apart in your hand, not to mention spreading butter on it. I wanted to make sandwiches and I went away and it just fell apart!!! Besides, your bread is tasteless. Money down the drain!!! Visit civilized countries and see what REAL BREAD looks like, firm, tasty and doesn't fall apart when spread with butter. Failure

Amazing choice of freshly baked goods, including heavenly kleinur and long johns. Recommended.
