I’m unsure if my delivery orders are coming from this location or one of the others in Denton, but the past few deliveries I’ve received have been completely beat up and damaged. I don’t like to complain, but this is pretty unacceptable if you ask me. (The bananas are from a different order last week.) I LOVE the fact that they offer delivery, no tips accepted, and sometimes the delivery fee is only $.95! But there needs to be serious training for anyone involved in handling the groceries.

Google
Kroger is not bad to go to if you don't want to go to Walmart.

PLEASE CHARGE THE SCOOTERS THROUGHOUT THE DAY!!!!! It makes a HUGE difference for disabled shoppers who are otherwise unable to shop at this store. The scooters often die within minutes, and can leave disabled shoppers stranded in the aisle with a full cart. That being said, I do not recommend shopping here if you rely on the scooters for your mobility.

First of all shout out to Ace for getting me checked out efficiently and being friendly!! (You have 5 stars in my heart) Overall there can be improvment of the store itself. Some of it is a result of other customers being lazy... like leaving carts right next to my vehicle which could have damaged it. In which case I'd suggest to have more regular checks of the parking lot. I think having a few baggers would alleviate some stress on our cashiers and boosts efficiency. Not that I personally mind bagging my own groceries (I prefer it) but it would help check out people faster!

Was in there last week. Saw a homeless man with his arms loaded with things try to go out the door but it was late and it was locked. He then walked past the self checkout lanes and straight out the door. By the time the security guard was alerted (he was too busy with his face in his phone) the guys was halfway across the parking lot. The security officer just walked out to door and watched. The purpose of a Security Guard is?.......

Google
Completely senseless management. Doors are often blocked at random times. Some days, one set of doors will be blocked at 6 PM; other days, the other set is blocked at 7 PM. Loss prevention is constantly looking at their phone as well, so it's not as though shoplifting is being prevented.

Michelle Wrenn

Google
This location is disgusting. The ceiling over the deli section, where they are cutting meat and cheese has SO much dust and grime on it. Probably falls on food. The entire store is dirty. The parking lot is hard to get in and out of. Such a shame. There are no good grocery stores in this part of Denton. It's time to look for other options. Wish we had Publix here!

Adam Domian

Google
Easily the worst Kroger I have ever shopped at. In stock conditions are bad, check out lines are always long, and there is no carts more often then not. Truly a grocery store that is still in business only because of its location.

Yelp
The Flagship Kroger grocery store is a veritable social place where families can certainly find the essentials of food, drinks, and almost every retail item you need for living your best life; it has a helpful pharmacy for your prescriptions and positive Metroplex vibes, and sells seasonal sports teams items, including baseball hats and Dallas Cowboys football team stickers for vehicles. It's a funny, but true fact that a major restaurant, the famous Greenhouse restaurant on Hickory St., near the downtown area, has named one of the signature cocktails, the Kroger Parking Lot Death Match Parking Lot, which commemorates the stealthy moves that drivers must do for securing an empty spot in the confines of a limited space type of environment. Be careful and don't worry about the crazy crowded popular store that is equidistant from the Texas Woman's University campus and the Razor Ranch Complex that houses the best bet for all of our basic needs. Shop Denton First is a great idea for you to get your family's own lives safe and beautiful. Cheers, Mark F. For Yelp Elite.

Yelp
Well not only has the service of checking yourself out continued to advance they have now stopped giving change automatically when using cash to pay today was the second time in a month I didn't get my change the first time in didn't think much of it as it was under 20 cents . Today it was 62 cent and I had to ask for the change which I did receive but simply not acceptable. Nice way to add to your bottom line ...

Yelp
Literally the worst grocery store ever. You cant buy a single of beer without being charged for a 6 pack of that single beer. In what world does that make sense? You should be able to be ring up 6 singles and be charged the 10.99 as advertised instead of 10.99 for each single. It's backwards world at Kroger and the systems there are stuck in a time warp. No wonder Heb reigns supreme.

Cheryl Y.

Yelp
I went there today for their hair dye on sale. While I was there I picked up some items on sale. He checked me out and I got in my car to review my receipt. As usual they overcharged me but this time it was $6. Normally I just blow it off but $6 was a bit much. This is exactly why I avoid shopping at Krogers. He even put the lighter fluid in with my produce. Really??

Abby M.

Yelp
Does Kroger feel good taking peoples money for produce knowing it's rotten ever heard of a quality check?

Ayden B.

Yelp
Came here to pick up an online order for my parents on the way home from work. Punched in the parking space number and was greeted with a friendly "I'm so sorry you have to live with a mother like that". Nice! I guess since we judge on first impressions I'm going to go ahead and conclude that all of the staff here are assholes.

Pamela H.

Yelp
Love this location very good customer service and produce always fresh. All departments were so organized.

Trina M.

Yelp
The hours posted on Google and this store say that they close at 1 AM. I went in at 12:43 with 17 minutes to close. All of the doors were locked, and when the cashier finally opened the door I was greeted with "You got ten minutes." While I was shopping for my very few items, I was getting stared down the whole time and was rushed to get out. I work retail and I understand that they want to close and get home, as do many midnight shoppers. The disrespect I felt from the staff was like nothing I have ever experienced. The staff weren't wearing name-tags unfortunately. If you can avoid this store (although it's supposed to be convenient) try your best to avoid it.

Janice H.

Yelp
The employees are great. Pharmacy is absolutely fantastic. Clean store. Well kept and clean. Always stocked

R S.

Yelp
This place is disorganized and not organized very well, I found out later from the locals that this particular location has two nicknames, both which can be found in news articles, and I did manage to find them.

Kimberly G.

Yelp
I contacted the pharmacist Andrew about an issue, and he was extremely rude and unprofessional. I was trying to have a conversation with him, and all he would do is give me attitude. I contacted Kroger corporate office, and the lady acted like I was bother to her and could care less. She said she would let the district manager know, I have not heard anything from Kroger. I will never have medication filled or refilled there again. Very rude and unprofessional pharmacist and staff.

Yelp
Kroger has changed a lot over the years from our experiences elsewhere . That is not a compliment . We have during covid using the curb service. We have gotten out dated product, a complete mixup of someone else's groceries (we live about 10 miles away), spoiled or browned produce, and sine Kroger has started pushing their own Kroger packaged products, our favored brands have been significantly reduced or eliminated. Not the only dependable Kroger of years past. ATLEAST not THIS ONE!

Yelp
Kroger does have a really nice variety. However, they're not the cheapest store on the block, and yet the customer service is very poor as if it we was a discount store. I'm sure they're having trouble getting enough workers, but they also put the kiosks in so they wouldn't have to hire cashiers, so it seems. On Wednesday night, I went there and it was Rush hour around 5:15. There were two cashiers open, and everyone else was in line for a kiosk. The lines were backed up all the way down the aisles. It took 30 minutes to check out. I thought to myself, why would I be paying higher prices for this kind of poor customer service? It's not worth it. I might as well go to a discount store if I'm going to have to be treated as if the customer does not matter. I suggest Kroger fixes this before they lose a lot of their customers. I know it's going to be one of the last places I go from now on.

Yelp
This Kroger is fairly close to a one stop shop in the grocery store category. They have a pharmacy, deli, bakery and a large selection of normal grocery items and seasonal products. I do shop at other places but that usually means I have to go to several stores to complete my shopping whereas I can be done with my weekly shopping when I go to Kroger. The prices are in line with other stores and in many instances more reasonable. There are of course places you can get items cheaper in bulk but I am reviewing this as the weekly grocery trip place that a majority of people are using it for. Their layout makes sense, I rarely need to ask help to find something and everything is spread out just enough to be able to maneuver a cart where I need to go so they have maximized the use of their floor plan. In my opinion they do a better job of keeping inventory on hand than the other two in town. The only thing I seem them run low on that I frequently get is milk and creamer but that's specific brands so I still have options. The one on Teasley will often have entire coolers empty when I go. Also this location is 24 hours which the one on Teasley is not. I'm not sure about the one on 288 as I am only in the area during normal business hours. Unless you are new to town you don't need to hear that the parking lot is from hell but what are you going to do? It's an average size parking lot for a grocery store; it's not short on spaces, the spaces aren't too skinny or skewed for easy parking, it's not too small. It's just so damn popular that it's constantly congested. They can't expand forward as University is already expanding the road. Short of kicking out every store and taking over the entire parking lot, no one is going to be happy with how crowded it is and how aggressive people can get. 3/5 of the time I avoid the crowds by doing my shopping super early since they are 24/7. This means only the self check out is open but since there is usually only a couple of other customers in the store at the time I use the self checkout for everything that will fit and they use the hand scanner for the larger items like a bag of dog food. It's not as easy as a regular register but I rarely need one unless I am getting bulky items so for me, it's an option. If you tend to do very large shopping trips I would suggest going at 8:30am as I am pretty sure that's when they open the cashier lanes and the store is filing up at that time but the parking lot's not packed yet.

Yelp
just now What a terrible experience. My husband recently had a massive heart attack and needed some syringes in order to take his medicine. the doctor had called in the syringes three previous times. When I came back to the pharmacy for the fourth time. They told me that they did not have the prescription again. But I was unable to get syringes without a prescription because of drug users. I had a sample of the previous syringes I've gotten in the past. After arguing with me that he did not have a prescription yet again. I called the doctor and ask them to re-send it in. The doctor called it in yet again.i was standing outside at the window in the heat the entire time. He told me to come in. When I told him that the doctor called them in a few times he go mad and printed off my sheet and held it up for others to see. I think that is against hips. I then set the clean needle sample on the counter to show him. He was rude and told me to pick it up and I was not to put it down again. Then he said I would have to wait 45 mins to get three needles. The worst part is that my husband needs hundred of dollars in meds a month to stay alive. That is why we switched from CVS TO Kroger and joined the savings club. Life is already stressful with out being treated bad for your age (I'm over 50) and treated like a drug dealer by your pharmacist. His name was Tim O. They wouldn't give me his last name. Like Share

Yelp
This Kroger is a really good Kroger and it's nice to work here and u can make friends easily here

Trey S.

Yelp
every single time I have come here they have not had any carts. you have to go out and scavenge for one in the parking lot. I didnt sign up for a quest. I dont want to go collect a cart. its really not that hard to have them in the store for people to use. they also are out of things half the time and the prices suck. hopefull an heb comes somewhere close and this wasteland can go out of business.

Yelp
I ordered groceries to be delivered today and Instacart brought them out. However there were items missing and some were incorrect. Since there seems to be only a message center to allow communication for Instacart, I was just at a loss for my much needed grocery items. After calling my local Kroger store and speaking with the manager, Ken, he also looked for a way to help. He called me back, asked for my address and brought me out MANY more items than what was missing! He actually left his store, personally picked out the gluten free items I so desperately needed for my sick child and brought them to my front door! Ken is the managers name and couldn't have been sweeter! Love this store! I know it's gotten some bad raps in the past, but what store hasn't. Well worth it to shop here and get real customer satisfaction. A rare thing in this day!!

Yelp
The Pharmacy in this Kroger location is a joke. There's always long lines and wait times. The employees are rude and uninformed. I know they must be extremely short staffed and I understand that affects both the employees and customers alike. However, they close in the middle of the day with now estimated return time just a sign that says "come back later." I went to the second lane in the drive thru because of the line at the window and I didn't have a lot of time to spare so I figured going to the open lane would have been much faster. After buzzing in twice with no response and everyone at the window had already gone through, an employee shouted "Lane 2 is NOT open!" It was very unprofessional. I've also received several text notifications to pick up my prescription when in fact it was not ready at all and the pharmacists had no explanation. So I've wasted trips waiting in line just to be told the message was sent in error. If my RX wasn't so much cheaper there, I wouldn't bother.

Yelp
I hate to do this, but it's time. I've been going here for over 20 years and have brushed aside the negatives, but now it's time for a review. TL DR: Bad meat on two different occasions. IN DEPTH: On Sat. Sept 8 I purchased a 10 lb. bag of leg quarters. This was a day after the rat infestation, which I brushed off. I MADE A POINT to grab a bag from the bottom thinking it would be colder, and I came straight home and refrigerated it. Later that night my wife and I detected a faint smell in the fridge. Surely it couldn't be the chicken, right? Well, I opened it today (Mon. Sept 10) and it reeked. I had to Lysol the kitchen after trashing it. The bag said sell by 09-10-2018. So why does it reek?? Back on July 3rd I purchased their Simple Truth lamb chops to grill for the Fourth of July. On the 4th though, I saw it said 'Sell By June 28', so I had to drive back to return it. $14 lamb and it's expired?! SUMMARY: - No more 24 hr operation - Lousy, vagrant-ridden parking lot - Small carts are never stocked - MEAT IS ROTTEN - Rat infestation (now I take that as a symptom of the store's overall mismanagement) Why even shop here anymore? I'll just commute to Loop 288 Kroger, or do even MORE shopping at Winco. If you can't even keep meat cold anymore, then just close already. Let the rats have it.

Yelp
No mask enforcement for customers and even employees. Far too many people in lines which makes keeping distance difficult in the crowded aisles. Even saw someone working in the bakery section without a mask. No thanks.

John H.

Yelp
This is not the best nor the worst Kroger but it does the job for me especially when they reduced the price of milk and several other everyday items. They are the only store in North of Denton that carry Gluten free bread that I like.

Violet B.

Yelp
Worst store ever Dirty, disorganized, short-staffed, rat-infested. Complaints ignored, employees hard to find and can't answer questions when you do find them. Items out of stock for long periods. Fresh items not fresh, including meat and produce. Never enough registers open. Long lines at checkout and longer ones at customer service and pharmacy, which has its own unique, disturbing problems too complicated to detail here. Parking is a nightmare, not enough handicapped parking places or functional motorized carts. Still, I am told this is the most profitable Kroger there is. Incredible! It amazes me that the managers of this store are not fired. Most of the managers I have talked to there don't seem to care. This store does not reflect well on the corporation.

Richard T.

Yelp
I really wish I could give a 0-star review! I bought groceries online to be picked up today. With two hours to go before the pickup Paul (who doesn't have a last name) called and canceled my order because some staff called in sick today. I told him I didn't want the order canceled, give me a later pickup today or move my order to tomorrow. Paul refused and said he didn't get paid enough for this and suggested if I didn't like his attitude I should shop elsewhere. I asked Paul to release the hold on my bank account so I would have the funds to shop elsewhere and he told me I could have the money back in 3 - 5 days. I told him I would prefer to not go hungry for the next 3 - 5 days and asked what else could be done. Paul now getting extremely frustrated by my lack of compassion for his bad day (I should be willing to starve to make his day better) told me to shove it and hung up. I then called the corporate office and asked to either have the hold on my grocery money removed from my checking account or to transfer my order to another location, Todd (who surprisingly enough also doesn't have a last name) suggested I take it up with my bank, he said it would be a pain on his end to contact the bank. I told him it would be a bigger pain for me to go without groceries for 5 days and he seemed smug and unphased. I find it rather distasteful that during record unemployment Kroger assumes that nobody would have a problem with them taking your $244 from your account, not giving you any groceries, and then letting you wait for 5 days to get back the access to your money they have placed on hold. I just want to know why these employees are complaining that they don't make enough money to deal with this, rather than being grateful to have jobs at all during this ordeal. Update: I was just contacted by Paul to let me know they could fulfill my order tonight. Unfortunately, I had already procured the money by other means to purchase groceries elsewhere as he had originally suggested. It is a shame too, I had been shopping at that location since 1989 and really liked their staff in the produce, cheese department and butcher. Seeing as they tried to correct the problem I know feel they deserve the 1 star I was originally forced to give them.

Yelp
The Starbucks and their employees are absolutely fantastic and the only reason I will ever come here again. On the other hand, the wait for Money Services is always so f**king long!!!!!!!!!!!! I come here at the beginning of the month every month to get my money order for my rent and I swear to god I am always in line for at least 45 minutes. Even if there's only one or two people in front of me. They should really put two people on the register for the first few days of the month for Christ sakes. When I come here for groceries and proceed to the self check out line, the staff always eyes me down like I'm stealing my handful of Oreos and toilet paper. (Which I Always pay for, by the way.) unacceptable and Rude.

Yelp
Change your hours online kind of annoying to drive here instead of Walmart which is closer only to find out it's not actually open

Brittany W.

Yelp
The most dingy and disorganized Kroger I've ever seen. I live right by it but will always go to the Kroger off 288. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place at all costs.

Olamide O.

Yelp
First we were followed around the store by one of the employees he was wearing a grey shirt which makes me think he was a manger there or something , we're black by the way. Second of all I personally went there for batteries but one of my friends wanted to drink later that night but the attendant her name was Scarlet or something insisted on get all of our IDs yet my friend was the one getting the wine and none of us brought our IDs seeing as we weren't planning on getting anything that required IDs. This was my first time going on a Kroger run because Walmart was closed and to be treated like this is totally unacceptable and they need to do better, as for I definitely will be sticking to Walmart, being followed and treated like some criminal is not something I want to deal with when I go shopping.

Yam I.

Yelp
Rude cashiers at customer service, play passive aggressive games with the customers. Also notorious for a dangerous parking lot where my friends daughter got hit by a car. Not my favorite Kroger.

Dre P.

Yelp
They close down the main entrances at 8PM and funnel customers to the smaller middle entrance. Whats the problem with that you ask? Where the heck are the shopping carts? Oh yeah, they are all outside (was already in when I figured this out, if I had to walk back outside I was just going to leave all together) or in the locked up entrances. I ended up just buying what I could carry. Needed more stuff, but only have two hands. Local Kroger management, if you're reading this: If you need to shut down entrances at night, that's fine. But 8PM seems a little early for that. And please figure out an easy way for customers to grab carts when you do funnel us to the middle. Thanks.

Yelp
This store just just SUCKS!! Always out of most popular grocery items..... do they do inventory, check out what items sale... really??? The manager needs to Get On the Ball and walk around the store and check it out.. or do his JOB! Really a grocery store manager is getting away with this basic job rule... is corporate Kroger this backwards and out of touch...!!???? This store manager SUCKS

Justin W.

Yelp
This place needs to do a better job with masks, social distancing during covid. At least close down some of the self check out lanes, literally have people 2-3 feet apart. Other Kroger's do a much better job.

Stan M.

Yelp
I've been shopping here for over 20 years, and 20 years ago it was actually much cleaner and organized. Lately, every time I come here I walk out disappointed and frustrated. Why are half the self check lanes always closed? Why are there only ever one or two cashiers on duty? Why are half the front doors always locked? This store is dirty, smelly, disorganized, and I get the distinct impression no one cares. And yet, their prices keep going up. I generally try to avoid this store, but unfortunately it is practically the only one on my side of town. I try to be a positive person, but I am forced to agree with the other negative reviews posted here. The management needs to be replaced with someone who will whip this place into shape.

Yelp
This Kroger is officially dead to me. I will drive to either of the other two locations in Denton if I have to. This one is dirty and the parking lot is a nightmare. The deal breaker for me is that they like to store the shopping carts in the walkway outside. Especially when it is busy, all the shopping carts will be gone from the inside area in the front, and the walkway outside will be full of them. What's awesome about this is that the parking lot is really busy, and if the walkways are full of shopping carts, it forces you to walk in traffic. Which is EXTRA awesome when you've got your baby. The few times I've asked for help, people have openly told me that they didn't know where things were located, nor did they seek additional help. I just really hate coming here, so I'm not going to anymore. Yeesh.

Mike S.

Yelp
Typical wait time 4 plus days to get a script filled. They wanna complain that they are short staffed. Hire more people, pay more per hour. Folks need their meds.

Maggie M.

Yelp
Fasten your seat belt, this is going to be a bumpy ride. As far as the overall store goes it's perfectly fine, very average grocery store but good Lord that pharmacy. TLDR: The Kroger pharmacy is where competence and customer service go to die. My family has been using this Kroger for our prescriptions for years without any problem until the last couple of months. I have no idea what happened but it turned picking up prescriptions into one of the worst parts of my week. We went from being greeted by a friendly staff that knew who we are and were kind and courteous to what seemed like an entirely new staff of people who 1. Had no clue what they were doing in the slightest and 2. Would rather have their fingernails ripped off then be talking to you right now. Other than just every single week being a slow and rotten experience other mishaps include but are not limited to not filling a prescription that was called in (several times) Sending a prescription to be filled at the wrong store, asking for a necessary documentation that no one would have on them and isn't required to fill the prescription, having employees doing absolutely nothing stare you in the face while they hang out in the back and you wait in line, and so much more With so many choices of places to take your prescriptions to do not take them here. I hear Walgreens delivers, try there instead.

Britni B.

Yelp
Positives: It's close to my house. Negatives: I go out of my way to go to the other side of town to go to the Kroger on 288 because this is a pretty ratty Kroger. The parking lot is terrible. If you go after 6 PM they have the entrances blocked off as some sort of loss prevention which is annoying and inconvenient. And now they've added a new row of self checkout but they always have it closed.

Yelp
It's like Christmas when my owner comes home from Kroger. I just jump right into those oh-so-fun plastic bags and start sniffin' around. Besides the plastic bags, Kroger has things specifically for yours-truly. Owner got me delicious Pounce treats (oh how they make me salivate) and some furry, fake mice toys that fit purrrrrrfectly in my mouth. Those mice are officially my new favorite accessories and I proudly carry them everywhere around the house.
google avatar

MrPresident11 ..

Yelp
A little dumpy and very pricey. It is like a mix between Wal-Mart and the southeast's Publix. Or it can be compared to the northeast's Tops.

Tony H.

Yelp
Worst pharmacy experience ever. Takes multiple phone calls to try and get your prescriptions filled. Can't ever find information when we type it in to their website very rude employees.
google avatar

Autumn S.

Yelp
I love Kroger but not this Kroger, I actually drive further just to get to the one on Loop 288.

Samuel J.

Yelp
By far the worst Kroger ever. If you thought you where going to go here instead of dealing with Walmart your better off going and standing in line at Walmart to never get any help. All of the staff is rude and very unprofessional my wife and I had to bag all of our own groceries while the bag boy just stood there. Then when I went to pay I accidentally inserted my wrong credit card for half a second and asked to cancel the transaction due to it being my company card they said sorry nothing we can do even though it never prompted any question or a signature. I will never recommend or anyone go to this location unless you like UNT kids running the store who have no idea what they are doing and are very rude and unhelpful to the customers

Dennis J.

Yelp
There curbside pickup service sucks don't use it I have a hard time even giving it a one my wife has the time to go pick it up it's not ready come back later come back later and wait another 45 minutes we are done using the curbside service cuz it's terrible

Grace K.

Yelp
I just witnessed an employee (older gentleman) in the meat/seafood department put steaks in the class counters with his bare hands .... no gloves!! This person put 5-8 steaks then lined with black meat liner, closed the glass and went on his way. The SM was out for the day so I reported it to a store employee who claimed he was from Ca and needed to find out the policy for what I had just told him. I also called the Kroger Corp store and have yet to hear back from the District Manager. With COVID - 19 and previous ray problems my next call is to the Health Department!

Mason W.

Yelp
I called ahead to see when they were open and they said until 1 am. Ran through the rain to get to the door just to be turned away by an employee who said they were closed, despite it being before 1AM. If you're going to tell someone you're open until a certain time, make sure that you are so they don't drive down and run through rain just to be turned away. I'm very upset.
google avatar

Judy R.

Yelp
A much better store than the sister store in Denton. HERE the employees show appreciation for your business. Theses checkers are pleasant, smile and say `thank you`! The courtesy sackers, do their jobs, and are readily available to assist. Thank you for doing the professional job you in which you have been trained. Now, go give Kroger on 288 a lesson on customer service.
google avatar

Ryan M.

Yelp
This Kroger is a dump with the worst parking lot in the world. Nothing is ever in stock, the clientele is less than wonderful, it's beat to hell, employees generally miserable...go to the Loop 288 Kroger and pray to God the HEB God will grant Denton's wishes.

Dyna S.

Yelp
Stop in for a salad bar lunch today. I am new to the area but saw they had a basic salad bar when I bought groceries last week. This was by far the worse salad I have ever had. Croutons are very ar soggy. My co-worker says they always are because they are kept on ice. WHY?? The salad dressing (1000 island) smells terrible. The $5.47 salad I bought went in the trash after 3 bites. Very bad.

J R.

Yelp
Okay, updated and upgraded store and the new produce section is nice, BUT the help here is extremely unfriendly - cashiers scowl at you while checking out and then, we the customers actually thank them (imagine that) without even so much as a grunt in return. This is not one experience, rather it is dozens. Then, to top it all off, the parking lot is filthy and cluttered and the people who get on the microphone at the front desk screech just like a certain presidential candidate - the screeching is so bad, it hurts our ears. New management is badly, badly needed here.
