I arrived in Stuttgart after a terrible train ride– almost two hours of standing shoulder to shoulder on a hot train. It was a bit difficult to navigate to the hotel, trying to zigzag across the many laned streets with the crosswalks seeming to change sides every block. Then, it was an uphill walk to the hotel. I was hot, sweaty, and annoyed. However, the staff at the desk were very friendly and I was directly let into my room.
I had booked a single room, and it was very small. I wasn’t able to fully unpack my things as the closet was tiny and had only one hanger. (Why do hotels do that?) The room was spotlessly clean, but it was very hot. It was mild outside, but the room, even with the A/C constantly running, was hotter than the outdoors. I left the window open at night, and that did help cool things down. The hotel was on a very quiet street, and I had a nice view of the wooded hill. The heat was the biggest downside of this hotel room. The A/C was set at 23 degrees, and it never stopped running because it never got below that temperature, despite it being much cooler outside.
The staff at this hotel were very welcoming. The breakfast was absolutely delicious. I am usually a little skeptical of hotel breakfasts, and as an American, I am unused to the typical German breakfast of meats and cheeses. However, there were a variety of options at breakfast, and I was able to eat very well, even as a vegetarian.
The hotel courtyard is the star of this hotel. It was filled with hydrangea flowers and was such a peaceful place. I really enjoyed sitting out here surrounded by flowers with the birds chirping.
This hotel made my stay in Stuttgart very enjoyable. If I stayed again, I’d book a larger room. I only wish the room had been cooler!
