I've wanted to go to Krungthep for the longest time, and when I finally had a chance to try it, it didn't disappoint.
I got the tomyum goong sandwich with whole wheat bread and it was so freaking good. It had marinated shrimp, white onion, cilantro, pepper jack cheese and tomyum mayo. This was my first time trying a sandwich with Thai flavors, so I was a little skeptical, but it ended up being amazing. I could taste every single ingredient and the flavors went really well together.
At first I thought $13 for a sandwich was a bit overpriced, but these are specialty sandwiches made with high quality ingredients, so when you think about it that way then the menu pricing does make more sense.
I also got an iced tea and it was delicious. I love that they have so many fun flavors to choose from, and that they specify how much caffeine is in each one. I wish all tea shops did this.
The service was 5 stars! I was having a hard time picking a sandwich and a tea so the server helped me choose something I'd enjoy.
The place is smaller and simpler than I thought. I was used to seeing pictures of the little nook in the back or the big and bright "krungthep" letters in the background, which are there, but they're the only decorations in the whole place. The vibe was still nice and cozy though. There were comfy pillows on the seats and tons of natural light coming in from the big windows. The music was also calm and low. It's the perfect spot to get some work done or chill with friends!
I would definitely go back and next time I want to try different sandwich and tea flavors.
