Japan Travel Guide - Extra Pack of Peanuts

"A beloved hostel modeled on a traditional Japanese ryokan with a warm, family-run atmosphere; it features an onsen (natural hot spring) for bathing and delivers a cozy, authentic ryokan-style stay that the authors call one of their favorite places in the world." - Trav

Beautiful building and room with nice onsens (especially the free private ones for guests which you can go into if not occupied)- you get a discount voucher for 3 other close onsens (~10 min walk) which we would recommend going to. The hostel has a wonderful lounge and our room had a beautiful view of the river. We saw carp, herons and a couple other species of bird from our window. Even if we couldn't go outside, it would have been a great trip because of staying inside here. We stayed in a 3 person room. The room itself was very spacious, with 2 separate rooms, a small entrance space, toilet, handbasin and wardrobe. It's a traditional Japanese room with tatami mats and futons to sleep on which are comfortable.

I felt at home in the moment i stepped into this beautiful building. The staff were very kind and helpful and spoke english. I felt a sense of community while staying here. Also there are public and private Onsen with natural hot spring water, in which i soaked daily. The location is also pretty good, its not far from the station, and close to many restaurants, convenience stores, a supermarket and the beach. The area overall is very calm and quiet. It was an extremely relaxing and energizing stay, and if i'm ever in the area again i'll be sure to come again!

K's house is a hidden gem we have travelled out of our way to stay at twice now. The old building is rich with history and the views of the river are stunning. On both occasions we stayed in a private room with a shared bathroom. Facilities are great. The private onsens were often available for use, appreciated the laundry facilities and equipped kitchen. Being an old building, it can get a bit noisy and if you're on the taller side - mind your head on doorways! Lots of good food options nearby, a bike rental shop and a short walk from the beach. Pictured is the balcony in our room (bottom floor) that opens out onto the river.

We booked one of the cheapest rooms at Ks House Onsen, which had futon style bedding, traditional tatami mat flooring, adequate hanging space, electric point and access to a shared toilets. We loved it. Exactly as we expected. Bathing was either in a small private onsen or two stunning public onsens, one male one female, fed by pure volcanically heated pure spa water. The communal areas were a fantastic opportunity to meet and chat to fellow travellers from around the world, with quieter areas where people were able to be more private to read study or work. A well equipped kitchen area provided free tea and coffee, refrigerator and the facilities to cook or microwave a simple meal. The setting, on the banks of the river Matsukawa in the lovely coastal town of Ito is hard to beat. A welcome retreat from the bustle of Tokyo. The staff are amazing. Knowledgeable and friendly. We really cannot fault Ks House Onsen Thank You for our stay!

Beautiful and traditional Japanese onsen. Must get the river view room for a peaceful and pretty outlook. Wooden building so everything can be heard when people move around. All good part of the atmosphere. Great private and public baths. Very comfortable sleep on tatame mats and a well equipped kitchen. Ito is a very quiet and laid back town to recharge.

We stayed at K’s House for two nights and had a wonderful experience. The welcome was very warm, and we were even able to check in a bit earlier since our room was already ready. The house itself is beautiful, and the rooms are spotlessly clean and full of charm. We immediately felt at home! Of course, you should be aware that you’re sleeping on a mattress on the floor, which might not be ideally comfortable for everyone, but we personally found it very cozy. The only downside is that the windows let in a lot of light, so it’s hard to sleep in. The house offers lovely common areas where I felt very comfortable and could also get some work done easily. But what really deserves to be highlighted are the in-house onsens. There is a public one on the ground floor as well as two private ones. The public bath is cozy and quite spacious, while the private ones are more like the size of a bathtub, perfect for one person (or two at most). All of them are charming and impeccably clean. The neighborhood itself is very quiet, but with the nearby train station, several restaurants, and convenience stores, it’s still very convenient. All in all, I can wholeheartedly recommend this house for a wonderful, traditional Japanese experience.

Booked our stays on weekdays, our rooms are located at the top floor. The 100+ years old building are well maintain, was fascinated with the built that we had to look around until the top most floor (like a viewing tower) overlooking the river. Since there were not many tenant during our stays, we got to enjoy the private onsen often. The open onsen (separate male/female) was located underground. The vibe of the place reminded me of Beppu in Oita, also famous as an onsen town. Great place, great experience. Would love to come back again and spend more time in Ito town.

K's House in Ito was the perfect stay for our arrival in Izu Peninsula. The building itself is gorgeous, right on the river, and central to the rest of the town. The staff were lovely and welcoming and there were other travelers from all over the world. My highlights were the room itself with a view of the river and comfy futons that you roll out when you are ready to sleep, and the onsen. The peaceful onsen is the perfect temperature and the water left my skin feeling soft and my muscles relaxed after a long travel day. I would definitely stay here again!

Yelp
K's House Itō Onsen was a fantastic place to stay. The 100+ year old wooden building is gorgeous inside and out. Our tatami room was on the third floor and had sliding shoji doors that opened into a small engawa overlooking a view of the river. The private onsen (for hotel guests only, but shared amongst them) in the basement is a highlight and the reason we chose to stay there. The location is great--close to the train station (3 minute cab ride) and surrounded by great bars and restaurants. All the staff were wonderful and helpful too.

Yelp
It was a lovely stay. We slept on the Tatami mats with the Traditional Futon. It was clean and neat. The staff were great. Our room overlooked a calm river. I highly recommend and hope to come back.

Yelp
K'a House Ito Onsen is a beautiful 100-year Old onsen which has been converted into a hostel, so it's so much more than what I'd expected. Location wise, it's near the JR station and also the Orange Beach. The interior is lovely and there's a comfortable lounge with a kotatsu where boarders gathered in the evening to chat and share tidbits. We enjoyed making friends from other countries and sharing travel stories. We had a good room which came en-suite with a bath and toilet. At night, we laid out our futons and had a bath at the Onsen before retiring for the night. We also stored our luggage here while we went exploring Jogasaki Coast and Mount Omuro. K's House had the itinerary posted on the kitchen noticeboard and we followed the advise for a really great day out.

Yelp
Absolutely Amazing hostel! I cannot believe I was able to stay here for hostel prices. This is a beautiful 100 year old building turned into a hostel. The entire place is Japanese rokyan style and has a built in onsen (which is incredible). They will also provide you with japanese robes, have towel rentals, laundry facitlies and a kitchen (they also give you free jam in the mornings for your toast which is awesome! High recommend staying here if you travel to Japan - super relaxing experience!
