"Księży Młyn in Łódź is a city-within-a-city, founded by the Scheibler and Groham families, who partnered in 1921 to co-run the largest cotton mill in Europe. The industrial village once comprised production facilities, shops, its own fire department, an internal hospital and school, a railway station, residential quarters for the mill workers, and an owner’s home surrounded by a park. The latter, an opulent villa called the Herbst Palace, now functions as a museum, open to visitors wishing to marvel at the fabulous and expensive taste of the early Polish capitalists. It stands in a lovely, well-kept park, where visitors can enjoy a cup of tea at the outdoor café (or, in colder months, under the roof in the winter garden). After you’ve visited the museum, be sure to also explore the workers’ quarters—some are still inhabited, while others house small workshops or art galleries."
Very nice place to visit. Used to be an industrial area. There is a coffee shop available. No tickets needed, free entrance.

The tourist information centre recommended visiting, and I found this district a more interesting example of renovation of Lodz’s handsome old textile industry buildings than Manufaktura. It’s a pleasant and peaceful area to stroll around, although there was some construction underway & the renovation is clearly work in progress. Had a lovely good-value set lunch at Three Chimneys, which is in one of the renovated buildings

There were several part that construction was going on, I'm happy that they're repairing trying to save the buildings. But I couldn't get to know this place more since I was traveling alone. I hope I'll find some local people who can teach me local history.

Fantastic and well preserved XIX century workers neighborhood - organized around old cotton mill. During our visit (October 2021) the residential part was under major renovation. The place is not too much frequented by the tourist but well worth a stroll around.

It is very interesting to learn about the past of this complex. You can walk in the area and have a break for lunch or coffee. Sadly, not many buildings is open to see what is inside.

Very interesting development of an old mill and associated housing from late 1800s. Still in early stages but there are a few good coffee bars and restaurants already.
