Sadly, the Kula Lodge Restaurant building was destroyed by a fire in August 2025. ||https://youtu.be/o90N5lSz7ao?si=YLMzgq3Q6jA4P988 ||While the restaurant building is in ruins and is closed, there is a very nice food truck set up nearby (across from the Marketplace building), run by the Kula Lodge Restaurant chef, that serves some of the same dishes that the restaurant served. Nice large substantial tables and chairs are set up beside the food truck, and there is shade provided. The food is great! The Kula Lodge Marketplace was not affected by the fire and is open. I think that the lodge itself is also open. While it's not the same as eating at the historic restaurant with its amazing view, it's worthwhile to go and help support the business while it tries to rebuild. Good food, pleasant atmosphere. Currently it's open from 11 am to 7 pm.

Sad to see the lodge burnt down but the food truck is amazing. Plenty of great eats like fish and chips ribs pulled pork and fish sandwiches. You must stop by and enjoy the friendly service and delicious food.

We have been coming here since the fire in Lahaina. I had a reservation set up this year in October. I’m very sorry the restaurant caught fire. This has become one of our favorite places to visit when we are on Maui. The food is always great, the view and service is fantastic. We look forward to the remodel so we can come and visit again.

We came to breakfast at the lodge restaurant but unfortunately it seems that the restaurant had a fire 3 months ago. So we got breakfast sandwiches at their food truck (which is right next to where the lodge restaurant was location - same parking lot).

Google
We were there to eat in the restaurant only. They had a live performer playing guitar and singing in the lounge before we were seated . Walked thru the garden outside and vas very impressed by the beauty of it all. The sunset was gorgeous from the restaurant. Highly recommend .

I really want to like this place. Even now--3 months later--but I can not. It isn't just that the place is dated, it is that their website and their descriptions don't mention so many things that actually matter for lodgings. Like sleeping. We stayed in #4. Even now, looking at their website--it looks wonderful, but the pictures tell only part of the story.||At 6am the Restaurant will begin shoveling ice, turn on the exhaust fans, and begin their day. Your windows will likely be open at least a little and the noise will wake you up. ||You may have been awaken by the no-muffler pickup trucks or or thumping-bass cars slowing down and accelerating away from the speedbump 50 feet from your window on Haleakala Highway (377). All night. Granted, the hotel can't control the traffic, but they have done nothing to help the room be quieter. ||If you like hearing your neighbor's conversation, this lodging would be an excellent choice--the shared walls are thin.||Even if you are hard of hearing, you may also wish to have a sleep mask for each member of your party. ||There are many parking lot lights and lights almost with reach of your bedroom window. The windows high up in the loft have no curtains nor other light blocking system. We taped cardboard over them the second night as our kids slept poorly and woke up at the crack of dawn. Waking was easier for them because of the pervasive roosters on Maui. The April sun will stream in directly at 8am. ||Your deck view will be of the parking lot. The tall trees will block your view of the sunset. This is assuming you can get out to the deck when they fix the very old screen door slide.||Guests taller than 5'6" will need to stoop in the shower, or forgo washing your head.||The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was clean. We heeded all of the signs to take off our shoes inside.||If Kula Lodge would own these deficiencies and help their guests, I wouldn't be half as disappointed. ||Give guests earplugs. Give them eyemasks. Install curtains on bare windows. Stop carrying on and shoveling ice at 6am.

Things that need to be done to improve: - Get rid of the mildew smell in all interior places (replace carpets, rugs, curtains, etc) - Coordinate your service better (most people want to have their drinks before the food arrives - if asked for the check, bring the check before preparing silverware for future customers) - Improve your food hygiene (don‘t put food out on a window sill for the server to pick up in the open air with insects and birds flying around, picking toppings off the pizza) - Provide pillows for the benches in the little gazebos. Noone wants to sit on concrete while eating out!

The views are spectacular! The landscaping is gorgeous. The house salad was lightly dressed with a lemon vinaigrette, the house omlette soooo good (spinach, tomatoes, onions, and lots of cheese), my partner had a burger and said it was amazing! Last we had the (NY style) cheesecake. Posting pics of the landscaping and cheesecake. Really the best meal at the best place! A fountain, koi, piles of succulents, irises, the view that is breathtaking, and an outdoor pizza oven! The most fun and most delicious we've had since we've been visiting!

Yelp
IMHO I've been to Maui countless times over the years, and I've always wanted to visit Kula Lodge located on the slopes of Haleakala. This year, we made it happen. The drive to the restaurant along curvy roads and tall, shady trees was enchanting. I'd heard the views from the restaurant were spectacular, and the unique outdoor canvas-covered "gazebos" added to its charm. Our party of four chose to eat under one of the outdoor gazebos. We ordered four morning cocktails: a Bloody Mary, $12, 2 Maui Mosas, $18, and a Kona Longboard, $9. Our entrees were the Upcountry Quiche, $27, Roasted Kabocha Squash, $28, Mochiko Chicken & Waffles, $30, and the Garlic Prawn Pizza, $30. While we waited for our food, we took the time to wander the beautiful botanical garden grounds and pathways. When our food did arrive, there was only one glitch. Instead of the Garlic Prawn Pizza, we received a different shrimp entree, which looked fantastic...but it wasn't what we ordered. They apologized and went to prepare the pizza. The food was delicious, and portions were big, so we definitely had leftovers. Overall, I am so glad we finally made it to Kula Lodge. Unfortunately, just 3 weeks after our visit, Kula Lodge suffered from a restaurant fire. I am absolutely positive they will re-open again. In the meantime, come support their Kula Marketplace, which is a wonderful gift shop, adjacent to the restaurant, and untouched by the fire. They need your support!!! I will definitely return!

Yelp
Nice spot just a little slow with service. They did warn us that they were running behind about 30 minutes on the food prep and things so we were prepared for the wait. The quality of the food made up for it too. We all got the Maui Coffee which was pretty good. It's a pretty bold coffee. For our mains we got omelets and loco mocos. My husband and dad LOVED their loco mocos!!! I got the crab meat omelet and it was stuffed with crab and cheese with avocado and hollandaise on top. It was worth the price. After we are they encouraged us to go walk their garden and it was BEAUTIFUL ! Highly recommend! Nice little walk after eating seeing the gorgeous flowers. This spot was on the way down from Haleakala definitely worth checking out.

Yelp
We went on a hike at Hosmer's Grove and decided to stop in for happy hour. For drinks my husband ordered a beer and I ordered the margarita. For nibbles we ordered the Maui Mezze and the Kauai Prawns. The mezze was very good but the prawns were not so good. First of all one the prawns was not cleaned well and the sauce was not to our liking. The service was great except the person that brought out our mezze brought it to the wrong table and left so quickly that the couple sitting at the table didn't get a chance to say anything. After a few minutes our server noticed that the mistake was made and brought it to our table.

Yelp
Love this place! Must go when in Maui. The drive is beautiful to this Upcountry Kula restaurant. We sat outdoors. The ambiance is perfect with nice views and garden paths you can take a little stroll. There are water fountains which adds to the relaxing feel. We felt like we were on vacation. Service was friendly upon arrival. Our waitress was also helpful and happy. The food was delicious! We had the Hawaiian Omelette which was filling for the 2 of us. Also ordered the Oatmeal Brûlée. Y-u-m! We will definitely be back! It's our new favorite brunch spot!! Looking forward to trying their pizza next time. It smelled so good cooking from the outdoor oven! They do offer Kama'aina for the local residents which was a nice surprise. If you sit outdoors just look out for the birds! They so like to grab a bite if they can. There is indoor seating with beautiful views if you prefer.

Yelp
We came for a special breakfast and a view. We were so glad to be here. They offer military discount on Tuesday and Wednesday and Resident discount with a Hawaii License. The Garden below is like a private home with curving paths and small fountains. Special to come here every time.

Yelp
Everyone was super friendly but I mean, we are in Maui! The Brussels sprouts were so delicious and crispy. My eggs Benedict was tasty and filling. Perfect for after watching the Sunrise.
google avatar

Yelp
Sitting at the window is an incredible experience. As an architect I just find this building to be so beautiful with so much soul. The shakshuka was a little underwhelming and the burger was average but I really really enjoyed the pizza and the spicy Bloody Mary! And you can't beat that view! The waitstaff was so polite and attentive as well. My parents sent back their ice tea to swap for water because they thought it tasted bad (comes out of a gun they said so the pipes probably need cleaning) and she was incredibly understanding and a true gem. Can't wait for an excuse to come back! I only wish happy hour menu could sit at the window!
google avatar

Megan L.

Yelp
The view was great but the price is a little bit expensive. We came here after sunrise since many people from travel blog recommended this place. The service was great and we enjoyed the food!
google avatar

Nancy L.

Yelp
The service, food, and view here were all great. Prices reflect the quality and location, but still felt reasonable overall. We enjoyed everything we ordered except the ceviche -- the dressing just wasn't to our taste. That said, it's a lovely spot for a relaxing lunch, especially after coming down from the summit.

Yelp
A hidden treasure amongst the slopes of Haleakala. This historical property hosts one of the best meals on Maui! Incredible view, atmosphere, people and dining experience. A flora of specialty drinks and vegan options avaliable. After experiencing sunrise at Haleakala, stop at Kula Lodge and warm up at their lodge while enjoying a fulfilling breakfast. Afternoon and evening, enjoy their garden terrace with sloping views of Maalea.

Yelp
Wood fired brick oven pizza!! Need I say more?!? Delicious food that's fresh and well prepared. Maui onion soup is a must!! Thank you Kula lodge for a treat!

Yelp
The food is always amazing and I love stopping in when I'm home visiting. The service is always full of aloha with amazing views and grounded ambiance. The drive up is always peaceful and the selections are always great. Please stop in and visit when you have a chance. This is one of my many favorites of Maui.

Yelp
On vacation on Maui for a few days and we were mostly hitting the grocery stores for snacks throughout our stay, but had planned one restaurant day for my friend's birthday dinner. We had 2 vegetarians and a vegan in our party of 5 so it was great to see there were some options on the menu! The lodge itself was cute, quaint, and offered amazing views. There is no air conditioning (only negative for the review--most people are used to that in restaurants, so it was a little warm), but it's high enough in elevation that there was a nice breeze when they opened the doors. If you're used to AC in restaurants, you can ask for a fan (limited availability) and plan to dress lighter. Our waiter (Taylor) was very high energy and took time to find out answers to our questions about different menu items. He was attentive but not overbearingly so, and was very kind to my teenager as well! We ordered the vegan cheese plate and bread for the table. Our omnivores ordered a seared tuna dish and the daily special (another fish dish) and reported that they were excellent. The vegetarians ordered the cauliflower piccata that was so good, the ends were crispy and the sauce was creamy and delicious. Our vegan ordered the vegan burger and was happy with the texture and flavor. We all helped with the plate of fries! They also had live music, a violinist was performing the whole time we were there, and was quite talented. Take a walk through the gardens while you visit!

Yelp
Came here after a morning at haleakala. Beautiful setting, very cozy and comfortable, spectacular views, awesome gardens. The food however was not impressive. The eggs Benedict was bland, they ran out of mushrooms, so I had the ham which was tough. The hollandaise sauce was not creamy. My brother had the Loco Moco... it was overcooked and dry. The rice tasted like a day old heated in microwave. The burger was tough. Felt like their ingredients were not fresh... quite a disappointment. I love coming here for the ambience but not for the food.
google avatar

Katalina I.

Yelp
Decent breakfast spot after Haleakala. They had limited options when we went due to some water restrictions but a good place overall. Great service and they had live music when we went. Nice views from their indoor seating. Note that they will have bottled water and paper plates and utensils due to the water shortage. Note that not all menu options may be available so they will have a limited menu and are doing the best they can. Be kind to staff and Come support a local business!

Yelp
This place is such a gem! We came on a Sunday morning around 9:15 AM and were pleasantly surprised that it wasn't too crowded. The hostess kindly asked if we wanted to wait for a window table, and we only waited a few minutes before being seated at a beautiful corner spot with an amazing view. Food-wise, we shared the macadamia nut pancakes, which I was really looking forward to. They weren't as sweet as I expected, and since I don't usually eat pancakes with syrup, they were a bit underwhelming. However, the quiche and banana bread with passionfruit butter more than made up for it--both were absolutely delicious! The salad was also fresh and fantastic. My friend got the eggs Benedict and really enjoyed it. After breakfast, we stopped by the little store on-site, which was a great addition to the experience. It was filled with local trinkets and art, making it a lovely place to browse. Overall, the setting is breathtaking, making you feel like you're in a completely different world. I will definitely be back!

Yelp
We had a party of 10. Everyone enjoyed themselves. Service is attentive, fast and great. She kept up with everyone's drinks and food order. We will be returning to try more dishes as to we only had happy hour. But that was great as usual. Come here for dinner and check out the views! They also have a good breakfast to choose from.

Yelp
As a born & raised local, Kula Lodge has always been a favorite for breakfast. But, I don't think I'll be returning anytime soon. I gave this 2 stars for the pretty views and the amazing busboy that was always checking in on us. However, the rest of the experience was horrible. We arrived (party of 2) at 10:30am (with a reservation). We ordered around 10:40 didn't get our food til 11:30am, almost 1 WHOLE HOUR after ordering! I would understand if they were short staff or if the kitchen was busy - BUT, a party of 6 was seated next to us about 10 min after we were seated, and they received their food before we received ours. They also got their bill and left before we got our food! So, I don't think it's a kitchen/short staff problem. Also, when we received our food, it was cold and felt like it was sitting for a while before it was brought to us. (Photos attached). I work in customer service and have worked in the restaurant industry before, so I understand how crazy it can get. But the we only saw our waitress twice (taking our order & getting the bill). Not a single apology for the wait or even checking up on us. However, we saw her talking stories and checking in on other tables. The only good part of this restaurant was their nice busboy and their pretty views. Other than that, would never return.

Yelp
We were blessed to have breakfast here on 8/4/2025. Just before the fire on 8/11/2025. The service was fantastic and the food just as good as I remembered from 2005 when I was last there. Our table ordered the quiche with fruit, meat omelette and pancakes with additional fresh fruit bowl. The Halaya was so tasty and the quiche was so good, not to mention, they kept the coffee coming since we were on Cali time. The views were spectacular and the outside dining was perfect to get our brains clicked to Maui! Can't say enough about this place. Prayers for a rebuild of this amazing resturant.

Yelp
The location is top notch for up country Maui. Upon arrival, plenty of parking for our Monday morning brunch. Very pleasant greeting from staff. Who sat us immediately though we showed up and hour early to our reservations. Drinks were on the table within 10 minutes, appetizers shortly after. Banana Bread and Bruchetta were 100%! Do it! Every dish ordered for our party of four was shared, and enjoyed by all. We cannot say a bough good things about the ambiance, and culinary brilliance. It seems all pastries are baked in house, fresh and delicious! We will be back next time in Maui! Aloha Aina, Chris O

Yelp
The food and setting were perfection, having a late lunch after coming down from Haleakala. We had a few different pizzas at the table, fish sandwiches with Parmesan fries, a Kula salad and some gin cocktails. The only mishap was the timing of it all: we got our pizzas before drinks, fish sandwiches coming later and a salad last of all. The service was good and our server was lovely. This spot is a must when you are upcountry; it's a classic long standing location with perfectly gorgeous surroundings and views.
google avatar

Oz E.

Yelp
Beautiful view and great food. What else can one want from a lunch? I was really surprise to find the rating of this restaurant to be so low. On its own, the food is delicious. The pizzas are well made and the onion soup was one of the best I've ever tried. Likewise, their Shakshuka is great and the salads are refreshing. Honestly every single dish we tried was awesome. However, combined with the view, this restaurant becomes a five star experience. We made a reservation in advance for an outside seating, and I am glad we did. We got sat in the gazebo at the very edge of the patio - the view was nothing but nature and sea. It truly is beautiful. Our waitress was incredibly attentive and one of the friendliest I have ever met. She, too, enhanced the experience. I recommend everybody to stop here on the way back from Haleakalā. Not only will you be eating good food, but you will also experience Maui's expansive beauty. Such a great experience!

Yelp
Kula Lodge is a unique place with a unique location in upcountry Maui. The current operator does a much better job, managing the flow with customers in and out of the restaurant. We had a table with a beautiful view outdoors. My partner had to fix menu of beet salad, surf and turf and a chocolate log cake. She really enjoyed it. I had rack of lamb with golden potatoes and asparagus. Very tasty. I would order it again. The servers were friendly and attentive, and made the holiday feel special. Every staff member I saw I wished us a Merry Christmas. We sat outside, but there was a violin player indoors and what I heard I enjoyed and my partner really loves the indoor fireplace. It's been a while since I've been here, but I think I would come again.

Yelp
If going to Haleakala National Park, please PLEASE stop here. I have no idea what the people that wrote these negative reviews were thinking or maybe the elevation level got to their heads...the food here puts all those 5 star restaurants in Wailea AND Lahaina to shame. The flavors were amazing. Compliments to the chef! My kids ordered 2 pizzas! It's honestly the best pizza I've had on the island. The wait staff attentive and knows what they're doing. PLEASE give this place a try, you'll thank me. The prawns and French onion soup may take a minute but it's like heaven in a spoon. The view and ambience is amazing! Btw 3-5 happy hour 25% off, so take advantage.

Yelp
I've been waiting to write this review of the Kula Lodge for a long time. We've been going there for many years, and since the Vodjani family of Simon and Stephanie (from the 5 Palms) took over, everything has improved for the better ~ much mo' bettah! By the way, the view at 3000 ft on Haleakala is spectacular. They survived the terrible wildfires last year with a long closure, and had to slowly reopen with breakfast and brunch, and to our delight, are open again for dinner Wed-Sun. It has become one of our favorite places to dine in Upcountry Kula. We are always warmly greeted by the hostesses up front like Megan Keaka and others. They have redone their breakfast menu with delicious variations on standard fare. Under the direction of Chefs Raoul and Junior breakfast is a fun adventure. They've always had a delicious loco moco, but now it is made with boneless short rib elevating it to new heights. Kula Lodge Eggs Benedict have tasty ham, cheddar, eggs and Hollandaise on a slice of pain perdue ~ a crispy piece of French bread dipped in egg. A welcome addition is the Shakshuka which is a popular Meghrebi dish in North Africa and the Middle East consisting of eggs poached in tomato, harissa, olive oil, garlic onions and peppers and flat bread. The other items look very tasty, too. Our servers, Megan, Rani and Beth have always been enthusiastic and helpful. By the way, they make an unbelievably good Kula Lodge Bloody Mary with Ocean Vodka, a pepper, celery and a strip of crispy bacon ~ Beware. We met Peter, the GM, who expressed his staff's and his personal appreciation, and helped arrange for my birthday dinner last week. We walked in Thursday to the beautiful music of George Kahumoku, a virtuoso and national treasure of Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar. Our excellent server was Sarah who even created a small table arrangement for us. Chef Junior was there that night and warmly greeted us during our meal. The Poisson Cru was light and delicious. The house salad fresh as Farm to Table you could get. RC, their congenial Somm, agreed with our choice of Vietti Barbera D'Asti. Their Chapalette is also excellent. Chef Junior and Chef Raoul recreated their spectacular Beef Wellington with mushroom duxelle and perfect gravy which had been on their prior dinner menu. (Please consider putting it back on . We have introduced so many friends to it.). My wife had a delicious Tagliatelle with beef and venison ragu. Their dessert offerings are tantalizing but we were too full to partake. After three delicious meals at the Kula Lodge this trip, we are delighted and so happy with their creative and delicious menus, and cannot wait to try other items when we return, hopefully very soon! Mahalo to a great Team!

Yelp
Stopped in after sunrise on Mt Haleakala. 5.0 Food - They were serving breakfast and lunch. My wife got the omelette, which was very good but a bit pricey. I had the prawns, and they were magnificent! Very satisfied with the portions and surprised with my breakfast offerings. 5.0 Service - Beth was very attentive and generally great person to talk to! 5.0 Ambiance - The view from inside is stunning with valley, mountains, and ocean. Outside looks magical with gardens and waterfall.

Yelp
An absolute gem for dinner. My party spied this spot on our drive up Haleakala for hiking and sunsets. Unfortunately for us the summit was clouded over so after some hiking we decided to head back down to this spot as it was under the cloud layer. That was the best choice we made all day, the dinner was all delicious and if this was back home in La, i would be shocked if it had a wait time of under an hour. We arrived about 20 minutes before sunset and were promptly seated by a window with a fantastic view down the mountain. Our group shared a French onion soup and burrata, both delicious. I had the local filet mignon and my friend had the daily catch which was mahi mahi. Both exceeded our expectations. We enjoyed Mai tais and I had a non alcoholic beverage whose name escaped me. For dessert we had a lava cake, delicious and not too overpowering with the chocolate taste, served with vanilla ice cream. As well as a creme brulee which was delicious as well. The servers were attentive and checked on our frequently, keeping our waters topped and the drinks flowing. When we stepped outside for a photo, a waiter appeared quickly and offered to take a group shot for us. Top notch. I would definitely recommend a stop here if you have an opportunity. 5/5

Yelp
On our way back down from the lavender farm, we stopped at Kula lodge for lunch. Amazing views, ate outside with the waterfall/creek running through. Service was attentive and very nice. Drinks were fabulous, 1944 Mai tai yum and a lavender cocktail I can't remember what it was called but so refreshing and delish. Starter was the ceviche with taro chips, so good! I had the fresh fish sandwich on brioche and chips. My hubby had the prawns that were head on and excellent! Seasoning on everything was on point and just delightful. The gardens are serene and inside the lodge looked cozy and would be great to have dinner and drinks. We definitely will be back!
google avatar

Yelp
We walked in. They have reservations. This place is hidden on the way to the national park. We had dinner and it was delish. Food was flavorful and the ambiance is beautiful at top. We got to see the sunset

Yelp
Amazing ramen. Great views on our way up to Haleakala. I'm actually completing this review over a year later. If I ever get back to Maui, i'll be sure to visit the Kula lodge again.

Yelp
Kula Restaurant is such a nice place to stop in and have dinner. They have excellent views of the sunset, the food is delicious and service is top notch. Everyone is so friendly and kind. We had live music tonight via violin too which was such a nice and romantic addition. I had the fresh catch of the day with was Ono and my husband had the Ribeye steak. Definitely recommend making reservations as it does fill up quickly but they do accept walk-ins as well.

Marilyn C.

Yelp
Although the restaurant is closed due to a fire the food truck is fantastic! We all had a meal fish sandwich, pulled pork sandwhich, chicken meal, and a smash burger all excellent! So sorry the restaurant had a fire.
google avatar

Shelean F.

Yelp
Only thing going is the outdoor garden area. Food was blah. Nice waitress but stuff is way over priced and just not good.
google avatar

Victoria B.

Yelp
Good ambience, beautiful view and beautiful garden. The service was basic. We ask for a Gin and Tonic and they brought something else (club soda and gin). I asked for a burrata and they brought half burrata and half tomato . The presentation was absolutely horrible. My husband had papardelle ( wide noodles) with burnt stew . Super expensive and the papardelle were not even home made! And in the end they didn't mentioned the kama'aina rate for Wednesday s and Thursday.Super basic and overpriced . Not worth it.

Yelp
If I could give 6 stars I would! The scenery, the food, the service ... this place is so special. Came here with our 11 year old and 14 year old boys and they had a great time. The wood fire pizza, homemade banana bread, bruschetta with homemade bread, loco moco with pickled onions, eggs Benedict, puff pastry sweet Maui onion soup, Bloody Mary's .... All in the most amazing setting with expansive views of Kahalui harbor and bay )where the cruise ships port) in the upcountry area heading towards Haleakala, Fountains, foliage, flowers, herb gardens and hungry (but cute) finches. It is like a fairy tail here and totally worth the 30-40 minute drive from Kihei area. We sat outside in one of seven gazebo covered huts. Inside the lodge, you can dine and have cocktails while watching the sunset from the giant windows that look out over the same view as if you were outside. We've visited Maui a few times but only experienced this place for the first time. We will tell everyone we know about this hidden gem! Thank you Ronnie - you did an amazing job taking care of us!

Yelp
All our meals were amazing! We haven't been since new chef, Junior arrived. So smart and friendly and really knows his way around fantastic meals! We were blown away with the fresh Ono, leg of lamb and ribeye steak. Everything was delicious. The Lilikoi cheesecake was decadent and we almost polished the whole thing. We will be back soon. Only a hop and a skip from the south side of the island. Bring your ohana, friends and visitors alike. You'll want to come back and make this one of your favs, like me!!

Yelp
If you're looking for a beautiful location for a meal, this is it. It's perfect for a meal on your way up or down the mountain. If you sit outside, it's worth asking if they have a cushion available. Definitely makes sitting on the cement much more comfortable. The food is overall good - on our recent visit, we had pizzas, a burger, the fish sandwich, the chicken and waffles, and the Maui onion soup. The added bonus of the chicken and waffles being gluten free was awesome. Initially, our server was awesome. She was nice, efficient and knew the menu well. Everyone enjoyed their meal, but my complaint with the soup is that it wasn't hot. The busser brought our food and the waitress didn't check on us, we had to bring the soup to her. She saw us coming up the stairs and met us, but obviously also had tables inside which was tough to split the time. She apologized profusely and immediately handed us a soup that came out of the oven, but didn't come back to check on it and it was the same issue as the first one. It's obvious that they didn't broil the cheese on the soup before they put the puff pastry in the oven. As a result, both bowls were lukewarm and the slice of cheese was just on top of the soup under the puff pastry, not melted. For $16 for a bowl of soup, it was disappointing. Temperature wise, I let my kid try it without even needing to blow on it. Thankfully everyone else enjoyed their meal. Overall, I'd really say this is a solid 3.5 stars but we can't give half stars. The location is beautiful and worth a drive.

Yelp
Delicious food, great view , and friendly workers. Well I wished they sat us near the window looking out the view. But the inside was well decorated. it felt so cozy in there with the fire pit and Christmas decorations.

Yelp
The place is beautiful. The service and all the staff are friendly, kind and professional. We won't come back though. Since the last time we came, the prices literally doubled up and the amount and quality of food was halved. We spent $70 for a breakfast (2 meal and 2 coffee) and we were still starving! My cevice was ok, but lacking in flavor. I asked to sub the fries because I was on a diet, they gave me bread with butter! So I had to give it to my husband who was starving as well. I didn't want to complain since the waitress was kind, but the small bowl (with a lot of sauce that tasted like yogurt, coconut cilantro and ginger, interesting combo but somehow not really great) wasn't filling at all. The coffee I remember was delicious, this time was burnt. Sad since it's a lovely treat back to Haleakala.

Yelp
The location (view of the ocean) & service were spot on! The pizza & edmame hummus were appetizing & tasty. The bruschetta were non-traditional as they were sweet & I would skip them. Definitely a worthy place to stop by on your way back or to Haleakala National Park

Yelp
Perfect Post-Haleakala Breakfast at Kula Lodge My girlfriend and I stayed in Kaanapali, but we decided to wake up at 2 a.m. to catch the sunrise at Haleakala Summit. It was an incredible experience, but by the time 8:30 a.m. rolled around, we were starving! We wanted to find the best possible breakfast to reward ourselves after the early morning adventure, and to our surprise, Kula Lodge was the perfect spot, located right along our drive down from the mountain. The breakfast at Kula Lodge was hands down the best we had during our entire stay in Maui. The food was delicious and satisfying--exactly what we needed after an exhausting (but amazing) morning. Aside from the great food, the views from the restaurant were absolutely stunning. Because of its elevation on Mount Haleakala, you get a breathtaking panoramic view of the island while you eat. For anyone returning from the Haleakala sunrise or just in the area, I highly recommend stopping at Kula Lodge. The combination of excellent food, beautiful views, and convenient location made it a wonderful experience. Definitely worth the visit!

Yelp
Wow!! I loved this place! Outstanding food, views, and service! Coming in I didn't expect much but I was very pleased with the seating first of all. Outside there are 6 little gazebos that have an amazing view to basically a jungle. The menu caught my eye with a very fun meal of Shakshuka!! I ordered it and was not disappointed. The flavors all combine so well together and compliment each other very well. The bread that comes along with it is very fresh and yummy. The main thing I loved was the epic view and how they make the pizzas in an oven right infront of you. Our server was also very friendly and helpful in the ordering process. I would 100% come here again and you should too!!

Yelp
Not a bad place for a substantial meal at Kula Lodge & Restaurant and such a beautiful scenery and garden! The Smoked Turkey Croissant and Kula Onion Soup were hearty and delicious! The servers were very friendly.

Yelp
We really enjoyed our visit today at Kula Lodge for lunch. The Mai Tai's we actually our favorite ones since we've been on the island, and we've tried them everywhere we go. The hamburgers & fries were really excellent. Friendly staff as well. They have to serve bottled water currently, because of the water issue, after the recent fires. There was lovely live music playing there during lunch as well. We tipped him as we were leaving.

Yelp
I can't say enough about this place . I had the Coq Au Vin and it was amazing! The chicken was really crispy and the sauce was to die for . By far one of the best meals I had on the island.

Yelp
If you're heading to the Haleakala summit, be sure to stop here for a meal. The restaurant seating offers a great view of the West Maui mountains. It's not just about the view--the food is good too. The service was very prompt and they took good care of us. I tried the Hawaiian omelette, while my wife had the Upcountry quiche. Both dishes were delicious, with the quiche being crunchy on the sides and soft in the center. The portions were very filling, so we took a walk near the restaurant to admire the beautiful location and burn off some of the meal. P.S : There's also a nice convenience store next to the restaurant where you can buy some souvenirs.
