Amazing value for money. Rooms are big for Japan. Beds are comfy. Service is great. We appreciated that we could park our car right in front of the hotel for no charge. Location is great, right in front of the Kumamoto castle, which is one of the greatest in Japan. On the downside, the place is a little bit tired and you may find the overall atmosphere a bit gloomy. But for the price, it is a bargain. Many food options if you walk East or North. Recommend to pay a little more to have a room facing the castle.

Kumamoto Hotel Castle offers a great stay with a blend of comfort, convenience, and stunning views of the iconic Kumamoto Castle. The hotel is well-located, making it easy to explore the city's historical landmarks and attractions. The rooms are clean and spacious, providing a relaxing environment after a day of sightseeing. The highlight is definitely the view—whether from the lobby or your room, you'll be treated to a breathtaking look at the majestic castle. While the hotel might not have the most modern amenities, it’s a solid, reliable choice for anyone visiting Kumamoto. If you're in the area, the combination of location and view makes it a top pick!

The staffs provide us an excellent service since the car pick-up , door man to the receptionist. The hotel is in an old fashion but newly renovated. Breakfast is good enough but not variety of choices. We booked the castle view room but the windows are not clean enough to enjoy the view.

Perfect for getting an early start on crowds to the castle. Breakfast offers Western or Japanese style. Bed was comfortable. Bathroom had separate shower room away from sink and toilet. Rooms use an actual key, so you all have to be together to get i to your room at the same time. But for location -- this is so worthwhile. They also kindly let us store our bags on our checkout day so we could actually go around the city and explore without having to go to the train station to find lockers.

Good if you like old school charm hotel, room and service. Castle view room was a disappointment - have to stand at the side of the window to actually see the castle :(Location was great and parking was onsite. There’s a driveway at the front of the hotel and from there, the staff guided us to their onsite parking. It’s as advertised JPY1000 per day but on day of checkout, parking is until 11.30am. After that, cheaper to park elsewhere (JPY100 for 15mins vs JPY200 for 2hrs at Kumamoto Castle).

This is a super hotel in a great location- right across the road from Kumamoto Castle. The staff are top rate, so helpful. Really good breakfast.

The hotel lobby was really nice and grand. The room was also very big and spacious. The hotel is located close to shopping streets, making it convenient to walk around without a car. Do note that there is an extra charge of 1000 Yen for parking of your car at the hotel. The only gripe was that the room was abit stuffy. We tried to change the settings of the air conditioner, but it didn't work after a few minutes.

For the price, I think this is the best hotel in this area. Walking distance to the castle, the Former Hosokawa Residence, and Amu Plaza. The staff are extremely kind and considerate. The breakfast was good too.

Yelp
This hotel has a rich history. The Emperor and imperial family once stayed here per the history of the hotel. Definitely a delight for the eye for it is overlooking the beautiful Kumamoto Castle. The staff were friendly and accommodating. Walking disntace to tourist spots and shopping malls. There is also a free parking in the hotel which is hard to find here in Japan so it's always a plus. The hotel is well maintained m.

Yelp
In real estate, three words are of most importance, location, location, location. In Kumamoto, the Kumamoto Castle Hotel has the prime location right next to the castle. The castle is just across the street from the hotel and a run around and back is only a few ~3 miles around, just be aware that there are a few hills. The hotel is a bit dated, but rooms are comfortable and the bed firm. Within walking distance of many establishments. The breakfast was included and you have the options of western or Japanese style. A tasty meal to begin the day. Note, the Japanese style does not include coffee and it is extra for coffee. Comfortable room, conveniently located, definitely worth staying again.

Yelp
The rooms here are okay. Wi-Fi is generally inadequate and the resturant service is lacking. All looks nice, but I have had to wait up to 30 minutes for breakfast to get in resturant at 7am. Once in the service is very slow. The resturant operation is very poorly run. I have been coming to KUMAMOTO since 1998. The last couple of times I stayed here. I will not again.
