Kunene River Lodge

What an incredible experience. We camped. The facilities were perfect and the grass was lovely to throw a blow-up mattress. There is an internet service provided - at a fair price - which was awesome. The staff/owners are wonderful. They are really keen birders and more than happy to share their local knowledge. The bird life! Wow Overall, I had an incredible experience at the lodge. Highly recommended

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Kunene River Lodge. They have nicely shaded campsites next to the river and air-conditioned rooms. The sunset cruise on mighty Kunene was wonderful. We will gladly come back to Kunene River Lodge. Thanks so much!

We camped here in June 2024 and would recommend. Good ablutions, nice shady campsites close to the river. Helpful staff. Superb food served on the deck right on the river. This Lodge & area is really a haven for birders looking for various specials. Lodge is well maintained and most staff were very helpful and friendly - management maybe not so much. What i found disappointing however was the total lack of any of the birding activities (morning river cruise / guide) as still being advertised on your website, and the absolute non-interest to shown when requesting these services? You already have the boat available and this would really have made our visit all the more rewarding. Enjoyed our stay at the Lodge regardless - many thanks.

Awesome place!! Spectacular views to get there. Note that the road is a bit 'worn' and not your friend if you are towing. We chose Kunene River Lodge due to the birdlife in the area and the fact that Kunene River Lodge (KRL) does morning boat trips for birding (which was the main purpose of our visit to KRL).||Quote from their website.|"Exotic bird species abound within the Lodge grounds for anyone to spot. The deck is an ideal place to relax and wait for different varieties to appear. And our Early-Morning Birding River Cruise with a knowledgeable guide (and refreshments!) is a must for beginners and experienced birders alike."||To my surprise when we got there we could not go on a boat trip as KRL has not done this for a couple of years now and were not willing to make an exception no matter what (we were 10 people in total that wanted to do a boat trip). I was really disappointed by this and would recommend to KRL to start doing the morning birding boat trips again or to remove it from their website.||Other than the boat trip I do not have any other complaints and will advise KRL as a place to visit as it is really an exceptional place.

Thank you Kunene River Lodge for your hospitality. We were on a camping trip, and I will go there again. Absolutely beautiful. Peaceful and great birdwatching (not myself but others in the group). ||Bathrooms were very well designed and clean. We had a great canoe experience.||Thank you very much

Great people, very welcoming, good spot, nice cold beer, camping sites are big & comfortable & electricity, ablution block is nice & clean (gas showers). I recommend this place. Close to Ruacana ||Note - WIFI is expensive ||no phone service||Breakfast is also expensive

It's a beautiful view/scenery but poor client service.The people don't pick up their phone when you call and they only have a campsite and no tented rooms like their website says. We had to drive all the way to the lodge (about 60km from Ruacana) to be told that they are now only a campsite so we didn't have the best experience. Would only recommend if you are looking for a camping experience because the view is relaxing and beautiful.
