They are gaining a lot of popularity so the store was full and crowded even just after opening, but the staff handled all the customers with patience and professionalism. There is a bit of a wait to get served and pay but nothing unbearable and it's all worth it anyway. As for the watches, great selection and craftsmanship without the outlandish price tag. Watches feel premium and novel - really has that distinct vintage look and feel. Very happy with the experience and purchased product. Highly recommend to get your very own time piece of Kyoto on your wrist to take wherever you go.

I've been a follower of Kenji's brand for a few years at this point and finally had the opportunity to visit the store within Kyoto. I was not disappointed, this is a wonderful independent brand with beautiful watches. I came to purchase a watch for myself and father. Generally, we wear 40mm watches so the smaller 35-38mm sizing of their watches felt unconventional and ‘too small’ at first. However, credit to the staff, after speaking with them and really taking time with the watches on my wrist, I quickly fell in love. The staff was kind, respectful, and really valued you picking your favorite choice. Individuals came in trying multiple bands, multiple watches, but never did the staff attempt to rush them and I greatly appreciated that. If you have been interested in this brand and find yourself in Japan, pricing is much better in store than online so I recommend stopping inside. Its a watch I will treasure and attach to my trip. I will have to come back for the ‘Sombrero’! One minor complaint, it’s an independent brand and so I do understand, however only one year of warranty feels just a bit too short.

Helpful staff with fluent English to introduce their watches with no pressure. Each watch comes with a strap or bracelet of your choosing so I was able to get the combination I wanted then they took 20 minutes or so to prepare it. I ended up buying the watch that I walked in intending to get - but they did have a few Kyoto-exclusive colors of the same model (Old Smith) that looked great and were tempting. I’d recommend going in and having a look at the selection.

About the watch: Became my daily watch that I came to love, replacing my Swiss watch. It just blends into office or outdoor work environment seamlessly. After almost 8 months, the watch already have some nice patina. About the shop & getting there: Getting there needs a bit of a walk, but that’s common when in Japan. But once you get to the Teramachi-dori, its all covered walkways. I got free engravings there. Nice ambiance in the shop. Feels like buying a custom made watch when I can choose parts for the watch. The experience makes it special.

Honestly one of the best shopping experiences I had in Kyoto. Everyone there spoke English fluently, which made everything super easy and welcoming. The vibe was chill and creative, and you can tell the brand has a lot of passion behind it. I really hope they keep growing—they deserve it. And yeah, it’s way cheaper to buy in-store than online. If you’re in town, definitely swing by.

The store is amazing. You can choose the watch and the strap that you like. You can try them on. Watches are good quality- made in Japan. We had a pleasure to meet Kouki there- super helpful, patient and informative person with huge knowledge about the watches.

I’ve been eyeing the Royal Smith online, but I thought I’d wait until my Kyoto trip to buy. I’m happy I did because it was a much more memorable experience. Eddie was very helpful with fluent English in explaining all the details of the watch and bands. I was so impressed I left with two watches (Royal Smith 90-006 and the green dial Old Smith 90-002). And the best feature of all is they make your watch on the spot and ask you to pick it up! Definitely one of those watches that looks way better in person than it does online.
