My visit to Kuoe in Kyoto was an absolute dream come true for any watch enthusiast! The experience of customizing my own watch was truly special. Knowing that each timepiece is meticulously crafted in Japan made it even more meaningful. I opted for the Old Smith model, which comes with two straps, offering great versatility. The engraving option allowed me to personalize my watch even further, making it a truly unique piece. The staff were incredibly helpful throughout the entire process, guiding me through the choices and ensuring I got exactly what I envisioned. Beyond the customization, the quality of the watch itself is exceptional. It's an elegant timepiece that looks perfect for any occasion. As a tourist, the added bonus of a tax refund made the purchase even sweeter. If you're looking for a high-quality, personalized, and beautifully crafted watch, Kuoe in Kyoto is an absolute must-visit. It's an experience I won't soon forget, and I'm thrilled with my new watch! Buying a custom-made watch in Kyoto was truly a special experience! They have a wide selection of classic designs, and the service was amazing! I have been keeping watch of this watch brand for quite some time. Always thought that the designs were simple and yet with subtle details that pops out. If you are a watch lover, come get it in Kyoto. It’s only available here for anyone to go into the shop, try the different varieties and match them with the many straps to suit your taste. The staff were so helpful and no walk in is required even though it’s always crowded. After selecting your dial and strap, pay and wait about 10-20 mins for them to fix it on for you and off you go with a beautiful watch. Seriously just come if you are a watch lover

I got there an hour after opening and there was no one in the store. The person helping me was so extremely helpful and patient and kind. I had some difficulty with my clasp and he was patient in teaching me and even more so with adjusting my strap length. It’s a very affordable vintage inspired design watch shop that makes a great souvenir. They were super sweet and gave me an additional leather strap! The whole thing took less than 15 min for them to make my watch.

Arrived in Kyoto on a rainy date and straight away go here. Place was quite crowded when I arrived but queue was not that long. First lady attended me but didn’t get her name. Then Eddie assisted me with the watches. And Cedric came along to show the Royal Smith with steel bracelet which I ended up buying also. Bought the gorgeous green dial with bronze case (in store only available) and Royal Smith black dial with silver hands. Got free nylon strap and brown leather strap also! Thanks to Eddie and Cedric! Top notch service.

The staff are friendly and approachable. Everything shown are samples for your test wear. Feel free to approach the staff to try the watches out. I had a great shopping experience despite the huge crowd on a Sunday afternoon. I feel great with my purchase! 😁

I knew about this watch brand before vacationing in Japan so of course I had to visit their flagship store in Kyoto during my stay. They are located in the city center in one of the big shopping streets, so super easy to find and stumble upon. Entering the store, you will immediately notice that the desk with all the different models and straps is shaped in an "U" form, you are welcomed to try on and inspect all the watches without waiting for an employee. Thanks to this store design, it's super easy to try on all kinds of different combinations, metal band, NATO band, whatever you like is there on the table. The staff is super friendly and helpful and they all speak English. Also note that the store price is MUCH less than on their own online store, for example the OLD SMITH / 90-002 costs 650€ online (Germany), but only 300€ (without tax since I'm a tourist) in Kyoto, more than 50% difference, so definitely worth it to grab it there instead of ordering it from your home country!

Very nice people and got my first automatic watch from here. Very satisfied with the service and it’s really nice that you can customize your watch. I got a Green face, gold plated, oil based brown leather and a sapphire crystal upgrade. You pick your own watch style, strap, glass and you can even have your watch engraved. A must buy if ever you’re in Kyoto!
