Kurama - ASTY Kyoto

I am here now having my dinner and it is delicious. The service has been prompt and friendly and the atmosphere is okay for a solo diner.

Had a lovely dinner at this restaurant conveniently located at the train station. Food looked fabulous and the line up although long, moved very efficiently! Staff were very friendly and attentive and provided great service and overall it was a fabulous dining experience. The food was absolutely delicious. The fish and vegetables were extremely fresh especially the Hotaru Ika (firefly squid) that are currently in season.

We randomly found this restaurant while walking around Kyoto station. The server was very helpful even though there was a language barrier. We were hungry and everything was delicious.

Ordered the sushi-markle-tempura set and Kyoto pickle for appetizer.. overall the food was good and the service was good too.. they served us a cup of hot tea which you usually don't get at other Japanese restaurant (they mostly serve you ice water).. The price wasn't too bad neither. My meal set was ¥2100~..

Had dinner here and food tastes good. Amount of wagyu given in the 4528 yen set very little. Food did taste well and service was friendly as always in Japan.

Set meals, presenting the best of Kyoto. It's in the 'Asty' restaurant row at Kyoto station - one of a whole bunch of small restaurants, all serving (as usual) excellent food at reasonable prices - and yes, this is what makes Train Station Dining in Japan so exceptional. This particular place is all about Kyoto specialities, but not done Kaiseki style - you get a little set menu, with rice, a couple of sides, and some dashi for the rice. It's all excellent stuff - it's hard to go wrong (though, if you're not careful, you might end up w/ twice the amount of food that you can consume!) Add in an excellent sake selection, and, well, #LifeIsGood!

have the soft tofu rice set and chicken karaage and hot sake... taste great.. over my expectation comfort food

Less than our expectation. Everything here is fair. Only good thing is it is very closed to railway station.
