Kurhaus Cademario Hotel & Spa (Lugano, Switzerland) 2 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"The word “Kurhaus,” taken literally, means “cure house,” and that’s what the Kurhaus Cademario has always been, from its founding in 1914 as a care home or sanatorium to its current incarnation as a high-end spa retreat. Likewise, the shores of Switzerland’s Lake Lugano have always been a destination for travelers in search of a cure, whether a literal one or just a spell of rest and relaxation." - Tablet Hotels

Absolutely wonderful 5 day stay here. The hotel has an interesting history as a health spa and the location makes obvious why. The views from the hotel are restorative alone! The rooms (make sure to get a lake view) are comfortable, spotless and well equiped. Staff were lovely - friendly and attentive. Food was delicious and all made with health in mind (but that dosnt mean it is boring!). The Spa is luxurious and well equipped. Treatments (massage) was professional and excellent. |Yes, the road up to the hotel is winding and not for the feint hearted or novice driver, but adds to the experience! We had a super, relaxing and comfortable stay here. |One minor point though, even though nearly everywhere in the hotel is spotless, they seem to forget the corridors. There were stains on the carpets all week and the corridor didnt seem to be even vacuumed in the time we were there. Also, there were smudge marks in the lift all week that hadnt been wiped off. Minor points in an otherwise perfect experience.

When in need of a good rest and tranquility, this is your place. Stayed for 2 nights with my little dog. They provided my dog with a soft little bed, blanket and water bowl at an extra dog charge. Overall a very positive experience. ||The balcony of my room overlooking the lake was much bigger than expected and I enjoyed a room service dinner there on my 2nd night. |I had booked the half-board, which in hindsight I shouldn’t have done, so I could have just ordered a la carte or a simpler room service when I wasn’t so hungry. Having said that, the food was very nice. ||The gym is minimal, so instead I got a work out done by swimming laps in the outdoor pool. The deep tissue massage was one of the best I’ve had in my life- absolute great masseur! ||Overall the staff were very friendly, check-in/check-out, housekeeping, and the pool bar staff. Less so in the restaurant for breakfast and dinner. The one older male server was very gentle and friendly, while the others could perhaps be a bit more welcoming - they looked more frustrated having to serve you. ||The hotel management should note is that the hallway carpet is quite dirty and worn out. It’s time for a new carpet for sure. The chair in my room also had a large stain which made me not want to sit on it.||Overall I had a good stay and wish I could I’ve spent another day by the pool. Remember this is a place to spend your whole time there unless you go by car.

Kurhaus Cademario is a great option to visit the Swiss Lakes without breaking the bank!||It is easily accessible from Milan Malpensa via car (or you can get the train and a bus), and well worth the trip up windy roads. There is one outdoor pool exclusively for hotel guests (with a bar where you can get drinks and snacks), as well as an indoor/outdoor heated spa pool with phenomenal views. Despite visiting over a weekend in late June then at no point did the hotel feel too busy, and you could generally get a sun lounger at any time of day. Other hotel and spa guests were all very polite and courteous, in fitting with the general vibe. ||The rooms themselves are great, though admittedly we paid to upgrade to a suite with a lazy spa style hot tub which I wouldn’t say was necessarily worth the additional expense in the summer months (at 180CHF per night extra) but would perhaps be a worthwhile upgrade in cooler months. Definitely make sure to pay for a room with a balcony though as the views are amazing! With or without the upgrade the cost of the hotel was very reasonable for this part of the world. The breakfast buffet was good with amazing views over Lugano. We chose not to eat in the restaurant for dinner as the food was a little fussy for our liking, and not overly vegetarian friendly. ||The hotel staff were all very friendly and polite, and are able to offer some advice with regards to hikes and walks in the local area. We will 100% be returning, and recommending to friends and family!

Bad customer service||We checked in 29 jun, it was my birthday and they didnt do any thing to make my day not even a small cake in the room. The cleanliness of room is zero, beddings were stained, towels were used, we had only one sunbed although in pictures they were two and people there are not friendly.||I had to pay a huge amount only to be lake view. The view is very nice but the staff needs more training.||We dined in cacciatore and this was the highlight of our lugano trip people there are out of this world you feel at home and yummy food with great atmosphere.

We stayed here with a dog, and they were extremely pet-friendly. The view is beautiful, the spa is incredible with both a hammam and a sauna, and the whole place is calm and quiet. The service was excellent as well. The only thing I would suggest is a bit more variety in the breakfast options.

and breakfast was excellent. The only negative was the inadequate parking arrangements for our group of Ferraris. We had notified the hotel ahead of time and expected arrangements to be made for the group to be together in a safe and secure area. The group was split up. And we were directed to spaces that were too small for our cars. And some parked under trees that dropped sap on the cars - leading to us having to clean the cars before we left. The gardener was very helpful and assisted with his hosepipe. As we had notified the hotel ahead of time, this was a disappointment.

Amazing place to relax and revive. Hotel offers gorgeous views of the lake and mountains, restaurant and staff is super helpful, friendly and rooms are modern and luxurious. I had a room with a balcony, that felt super special. I could sit outside enjoying the view and listening to people passing by.

Google
Overall, this is a very nice hotel with a fantastic view. However, the price does not quite match the overall value when compared to similar hotels. The SPA area is decent but nothing exceptional. Breakfast is fine, though repetitive and not particularly memorable. The restaurant prices are far too high given the quality and portion sizes.

Yelp
We stayed here recently for two nights. Overall, it was a lovely hotel and very modern. Check in was easy and our room was ready before the stated time. Once checking in, we were able to schedule massages for the same day through the DOT spa. The spa and services were lovely, very modern and they really perfected their branding across the board. The other parts of the spa were great, with two different pools. They were warm but I wish there was a warmer option or hot tub. The spa did not allow clothing for the sauna and steam rooms but most people didn't adhere to this. I wish there was a non co-ed option due to no clothing being allowed. In our room, we received robes and a bag for towels which was nice. Our room was also decorated with rose petals which was lovely as we indicated when reserving it was our anniversary trip. For food options, we did purchase the breakfast buffet which was excellent. We also opted to get this delivered for room service the last morning which was 10 francs. We put in a few special requests here but some were missed. Additional dining is limited and their restaurant was pretty expensive, even the bar food was as well (41 francs for a burger with fries). Because you are at the top of a mountain, you don't have much choice but the food was pretty good - it was just more "fine dining" and portions weren't huge. We did the candle light dinner experience the second night and this was a good value. Also, wine options were plenty and we were allowed to sample before committing to a bottle which was nice. Drinks overall were expensive The views overall are what made this place. The view from the main pool connected to the spa was amazing, however, there was a crane there which took a way from it a bit. There is a second pool higher up with a nice view of the entire hotel. Service was good overall as well. There was an intern at the front desk who was very helpful and provided great customer service. I give this place 4 stars because there were small details missed such as not following the breakfast requests and the chairs on the balcony were mismatched (I think a 5 star would have not done these things). Overall, I recommend this spot for a relaxing vacation to really do nothing, but if you're looking to explore Lugano, it is harder to access.

Yelp
The lake view rooms offer a stunning scenery! Absolutely amazing. The spa is open to all guests. If you're looking to relax, this hotel is perfectly isolated.

Yelp
Pros and cons for this place. I'd give this place 3 and a half stars if I could. Pros: Possibly the best views in the entire Lugano area. On top of a mountain looking down on the City and lake. Spectacular. The pool and other wet areas are beautiful. Swim from indoors to outdoors in a pool with an electric glass door between. Very cool. Outstanding 5 star breakfast. The rooms are absolutely immaculate and new and modern. The extra fee to have a room facing the lake with a deck is probably worth it. Downside.: Price is slightly expensive, particularly if you want the view. The jacuzzis, both saunas and steamroom are all WAY TOO COOL. They just aren't hot enough. Particularly the steam room, which was laughable. If the saunas and steamrooms were hot and set to the proper temperature, I would have given this place 4 stars for sure, and maybe even 5. The restaurant and cafe/bar are also too expensive, with the cafe not having much selection. They know you are a captive up on top of that mountain, and they take adantage of that fact. That said, the food was decent. I'd stay here again despite the negatives, especially if management would turn the steam and saunas up to a respectable temperature. All in all, I think that the pros definitely outweigh the cons. I will be back some day. Also a tip...there is a pretty nice little market about a 5 minute walk away right before the entrance to the Kurhaus. Get your drinks and some of your food and snacks there. Very nice selection of wines, cheeses and meats and specialty Swiss items.
