When we first arrived, we were confused when lining up. We soon realized that the main front area is just for the coffee grounds/beans. If you go on the side, you’ll see a little café alley where you can grab a seat and someone will take your order. There is also a little shop to buy other coffee things. The coffee itself was delicious, very smooth and the grounds settled to the bottom perfectly. I’d recommend getting it with sugar as a treat. Price: 75TRY per coffee

They sell decaf coffee grounds! Very light and toasty flavor. Although it only comes in small bags. I really hope they start selling larger packages internationally. The shop is not very busy early morning or late night before closing, otherwise there is always a long line.

Nice Turkish coffee and people. To make it the most memorable was warm hospitality received from the female manager. She's so patient and knowledgeable. Just a coffee time, I did learn a lot about the Turkish coffee, the historical company and Turkish culture from this elegant lady. She even offered me a simit to try and taught me how to play fortune telling with coffee grounds. I am so grateful to have met such a beautiful lady during my Istanbul trip.

Saw this shop thru Beryl,the YouTuber. It does not disappoint. I was there during the Turkey’s Republic holiday & Grand Bazaar was closed on Sunday. This shop is situated next to Bazaar & was so crowded. We had to queue up. But it worth the wait. Very good quality coffee & good buy for souvenirs.

Mehmet Efendi Turkish Coffee dispensary store is the most famous coffee sale point in Turkyie. They sell different coffee packages and cans of caffeinated and decaffeinated coffees.

You should know exactly how much coffee in grams you want when you enter the queue (see pic for latest prices and grammage). They sell grounded beans for turkish coffee, ie grounded extra fine. If you are unsure or need more clarifications the staff will be very peeved at your enquiries. Coffee is light and flavorful.

Born in 1857 in Fatih, Istanbul, Mehmet Efendi studied at the Süleymaniye Madrasah and then began working at his father Hacı Hasan Efendi's herbalist shop. After leaving his father's job in 1871, he began selling blended, roasted and ground coffee in small paper bags in front of his eyes.

I was sceptical about this place. I am a big coffee lover and was worried that the coffee from this roastery would not be anything special, but what a mistake! One of the best coffee for home brewing. Grab your cesve or moka pot and give it a try!
