"Pickled Herring at Kvarnen If you're looking for traditional Swedish food, called "Husmanskost," check out Kvarnen, which serves a wide range of dishes like meatballs, pickled herring, reindeer, and more. On my last trip to Kvarnen with a visiting friend, we dug into different types of sill (pickled herring), meatballs, and slow-braised ox. Be warned, they charge for mandatory coat checks."

Busy restaurant serving traditional Swedish food. RESERVATIONS ARE A MUST! I was there on a Thursday evening and there were no tables available for walk-in guests. The food & wine was delicious! I was surprised to see so many fun cocktail options. I’ll be back when I have more time to enjoy one of those!

Fantastic experience at Kvarnen! The atmosphere is authentic and welcoming, perfect for enjoying delicious traditional Swedish dishes. The manager is super friendly, as are all the waiters — great service and good vibes all around. The food was amazing, and to top it off, the place turns into a lively dance floor at 10 p.m.! A must-visit if you want to experience true Swedish culture and have a fun night out in Stockholm. 🇸🇪✨

The restaurant has a super amazing vibes with cozy feel. The menu is wide and has all main Swedish and some international dishes. All plates were neatly decorated and the food was good. Staff are super friendly and helpful

We came with the tour and it was fantastic! I had mixed luck with the pickled herring liking two of the three but overall really enjoyed the food. Being pescatarian, we didn’t eat the Swedish meatballs but they got rave reviews for our other tour members. The chef made us mushroom and pomegranate dumplings that were fantastic! The IPAs were delightful and very different. Out server was friendly and so accommodating- I would definitely come back!

Great food and atmosphere, but a special thanks to the lady responsible for the reception (Aug 5th night). She saw I was a tourist interested in the local gastronomy, and she offered me a great attention suggesting dishes, explaining the origin of each item in the plate, from which part of Sweden they are, etc. Persons like her turn out dinner into an unforgettable experience.

A well-known and popular restaurant in the heart of the well-known neighborhood of Södermalm. It is located close to the Medborgarplatsen metro station. I did not have a reservation and did not experience their best service. I ordered the lunch of the day, which was a Wallenberger (it tasted ok). The place is cozy and the interior is a bit old-fashioned, probably an attempt to preserve the original environment.

Traditional Swedish food and unpretentious atmosphere. Service is great, food very tasty and breadbasket, water, side salad and coffee are included. Most dishes are meat but there are vegetarian choices (had cheese pie with salad greens). If you eat meat, the meat balls are amazing.
