The Best Hotels in Iceland, From Rural Lodges to Reykjavik Boutiques

"Located inside a historic building in the middle of downtown Reykjavik, Kvosin Hotel is a charismatic boutique property with fantastic apartment suites. It’s a hotel that hits all the boxes for an extended stay in Reykjavik: a blend of urban and Nordic style, helpful staff, and a fantastic central location. The typical Icelandic building is over 100 years old, a grand old place in keeping with its note-worthy neighbors such as the Icelandic Parliament, City Hall, and the old cathedral. Inside, Kvosin is another story altogether, taking inspiration from a more modern-day Reykjavik. The renovated interiors are updated and modish, providing a comfortable home base from which to explore the capital. Ducking outside the hotel, within minutes you can be sipping on a local craft beer, catching a live gig, or enjoying a leisurely stroll around the city’s central pond, Tjörnin. Stumbling home after experiencing Reykjavik’s feisty nightlife, you’ll find the rooms welcoming and fashionable, with swanky leather chairs, sleek kitchenettes, and handsome desks for journaling."

Kvosin Downtown Hotel (Reykjavik, Iceland) 1 Hotel Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"To focus on the ups and downs of the local travel scene to risk missing the point of Reykjavík entirely. A hotel like Kvosin is built to last. In one sense, it already has — the building that’s now home to Kvosin Downtown Hotel has stood on this site, alongside the Icelandic parliament, since 1900. And while its interiors have been continually updated, adding plenty of 20th-century modernist furnishings and more contemporary pieces, there’s something timeless about it — you get the sense this isn’t the sort of urban boutique hotel that’ll be refurbishing its rooms every season." - Tablet Hotels

Great little hotel, perfect location in downtown Reykjavik. My family of 4 stayed in the 2BR top floor apartment which was HUGE, lots of space for us to relax together in the living room or dining room, 2 large roof decks looking out over the area. I was concerned that they don't have parking, but that was not a problem at all - within 3 minutes walk is a row of public parking along the lake that was always available.

Great hotel in Reykjavik. Good location, walking distance to bars, restaurants, and attractions. Our room was very nice, it overlooked the street but wasn’t noisy. The hotel breakfast was very good, lots of options. Parking isn’t included but easy enough to find spaces nearby. I’m glad we chose to stay here and would definitely recommend.

Stayed here for four days in Reykjavik, the staff and Gina were very friendly! The lobby is exquisitely classy and they have a lot of great drinks and snacks to purchase for the room if needed. Check in was easy and it’s very secure! There is a bar and restaurant right next to lobby and they offer breakfast as well! Our room was very cozy with an excellent bed and bedding, some of the best sleeps I’ve had in a long time for sure! We opened the windows and pulled the blinds, really wanted a fan and asked and the front desk brought us one which was very kind and perfect! Made us very comfortable during our stay here! Had a beautiful kitchen with all you need, even a stove and built in fridge as well! Made it easy to have food and drinks on hand and prepare stuff when needed! The location is perfect too and you can walk to anything downtown which is especially handy if you go out for drinks as well. There is parking at front entrance which can be full but the P1 parking area is all near the hotel so you can easily find more if needed! We love coming to Iceland and will definitely stay here again! Loved it here! So glad we chose to stay here!

A great hotel right near the centre of Reykjavik and a couple of minutes from bus stop #1|Lovely staff, great room - our room was “Cosy” but was very spacious with a lovely outdoor terrace, kitchenette and fridge drawer. Lovely shower room with lovely toiletries.|The continental breakfast was included in our booking rate, and was extensive, with fruit, cereals, yogurt, breads, pastries, cooked meat and cheeses and scrambled egg and bacon, and pancakes. You can take food into your room, or get takeaway delivered, and the hotel is happy to notify you of deliveries.|Would definitely recommend

The hotel was clean and comfortable. The rooms were large enough to accommodate two people and were within walking distance of many stores and restaurants and two two bus stops that we walked to for our tours and a ride out to the Blue Lagoon. We would recommend staying here anytime we are in Iceland.

Amazing customer service. Our flight was delayed overnight and they went above and beyond to help us get to the hotel and to make sure our stay was amazing. Location is great, rooms nice, but above all it was a great relief to have someone willing to step up and help us when it could have been even worse. Would highly recommend.

Such a cute boutique hotel. We stayed here prior to our cruise. The hotel’s location is perfect for walking to shopping and restaurants. It’s 10 minutes from the port. The rooms were very spacious and the beds were comfortable. They have a great bar for drinks, and the breakfast is very good as well. I would stay here again if I came back.

This is a nice hotel in the heart of downtown Reykjavík. We had a reasonably sized room with two beds and a well stocked kitchen area. Plenty of space. Very friendly staff. Only downside would be the lack of all street parking.
