We had a really decent stay at the KwaTaqNuk. We stayed in the "family suite," which consisted of 3 rooms that connect: one king bedroom, a living room/kitchen in the center, and a double queen room. Both bedrooms had their own bathrooms, which were very updated with rainfall showers and e-mirrors. Yes, you could connect your i-pod to the mirror in the king room, and both mirrors had touch-controls. Everything was very clean, the beds and pillows were comfortable and we could control the temperature in each room.
We had a nice view of the lake, with a small balcony off of each room. Yes there are insects, but if you're staying on a lake in summer, you have to expect that. The bar had a very nice outdoor seating area with multiple firepits and a bar available on the lakeside patio. They could have used a second bartender, but the one who was there was quick and very competent.
The only things that caused slight dissatisfaction were that the halls were very stuffy and smelled a little, and the suite kitchen had no utensils, plates, corkscrew, or anything other than a Keurig. However, the restaurant was very willing to give us plates and utensils and once we were in the rooms, the temperature and smell were fine.
Our rooms were on the second floor at the end of the hallway next to the lake and away from the lounge/casino, so it was very quiet and peaceful. Each person received a ticket to the breakfast buffet, which had cheese omelets, french toast and sausage in addition to all the normal "continental breakfast" items you could want.
We were very satisfied and did not experience any of the problems that some of the other reviews listed. The staff that we interacted with (the front desk several times, restaurant, outside bar) were very friendly and helpful. We will stay at the KwaTaqNuk again.
