Kyo Cafe - Review - Bedford-Stuyvesant - New York - The Infatuation

"Like many Brooklyn coffee shops, Kyo Cafe in Bed-Stuy is fairly adorable and you can spend a small fortune on a matcha latte. The difference is that it's from the team behind Chef Katsu in Clinton Hill, which means you can pair that matcha with a better-than-it-needs-to-be fried chicken sandwich layered with thick Japanese curry sauce, cabbage slaw, and mayo. If you dare get some real work done, the wifi is fast and free. There are a couple of two-top facing the small open kitchen and a backyard for when the weather’s nice. photo credit: Willa Moore" - Willa Moore

Kyo - Review - Bedford-Stuyvesant - New York - The Infatuation

"From the team behind Chef Katsu, Kyo is a Japanese cafe in Bed-Stuy. They have coffee, matcha, and Japanese snacks and pastries. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Will Hartman

Stopped by for a cozy brunch and it totally hit the spot. We ordered the French toast $6, a bacon egg and cheese croissant $7, a cortado, and the limited edition gingerbread latte (asked for it not too sweet). Everything was absolutely delicious perfect comfort food for a crisp fall morning. I shared my French toast with my boyfriend, and he shared his croissant with me. We left with our tummies full and happy. The staff was super friendly and seemed to know the locals, which made the place feel extra warm and welcoming. The ambiance could be a touch more inviting, but overall it was such a lovely, feel good fall experience. 🍂☕

KYO is one of my favorite spots in Brooklyn, such a gem. the interior is warm and colorful, super inviting. My fave drink is the house mocha, and fave dish has been the French toast with fresh jam. Perfect temp/sweetness on drinks, and the food is a great portion and very tasty! Love what the business stands for and always happy to support

Hojicha latte and chicken katsu burger was so yummy! Chicken katsu was next level. Curry flavor was just right, not too spicy. Love the atmosphere and server was very friendly. Matcha latte tasted real Japanese matcha. (I’m Japanese and I’ve tasted real matcha power) I just wish this store was in my area, Crown Heights 😭

First time at KYO and I was excited to try their seasonal strawberry matcha latte. If you are a true matcha lover I do not recommend. The matcha was bitter and completely disappeared after stirred. I even ordered my latte with less milk and unfortunately it ended up just tasting like bitter strawberry oat milk. The cafe its self is super cute and the baristas were nice but I'll definitely have to try the coffee instead next time. For the price point of $8 after tax for the drink, I definitely recommend they get a higher quality matcha.

I love this spot. The staff are so nice and impressionable. Chill environment, plenty of seating inside and in the back patio. Plus they have amazing matcha ✨

tried the salmon and chicken katsu burgers, ingredients were fresh and balanced, the fries were amazing too!! they were so light and crispy, not over-salted, just right. service is very helpful, music is groovy, prices are fair, the whole place is dialed in. Oh and the tiramisu latte is worth trying :)

I went in to get some iced coffee for my sister and walked out with the iced coffee, matcha for myself, and the French toast to share. It was all super delicious and we enjoyed it a lot!

Even though there are a couple of coffee shops much closer to my home, I always choose to come here — and it’s about a 10-minute walk for me. That alone should say something! The coffee is consistently excellent, the staff is friendly and welcoming, and the overall atmosphere is just cozy and relaxing. You can tell they really care about quality and customer experience. It’s my go-to spot when I need a good cup of coffee and a little break from the day. Definitely worth the extra walk every time!
