Lovely hotel! However while service was generally acceptable in the beginning. We booked a room for five people including two children. At checkout, they explained that our child was ineligible to receive a bedding due to being under six years old and requested we pay an extra ¥7000 because we had requested a traditional Japanese futon bedding set for her. I have never seen a hotel accept a booking for five people and then explain that, based on their rules, only four were eligible to receive a bed. This should be clearly explained in marketing and booking.

We stayed at a Japanese styled room with tatami floor and futon beds. Very nice to live this Japanese experience. I picked up this place because I wanted a Ryokan with a private toilette. The beds are relatively comfortable. Warm. Clean bathroom, but not the luxurious type of shower. The breakfast was very tasty for a fair price. Reserve your breakfast as they have a limited amount of slots. Overall very nice. I'd come back. 9/10.

We enjoyed our stay at this Japanese-style hotel. The room is cleaned daily, and even if you skip a day, they will still do a mandatory cleaning every three days, which keeps everything fresh and tidy. The staff are polite, helpful, and give that warm Japanese hospitality. Just a small heads-up for future guests: the bedding is traditional—only a thin futon on the floor. If you have trouble getting up from the floor or prefer a soft, cushy mattress, this style might be challenging 😁. But if you’re looking for an authentic Japanese experience, this place definitely delivers!

The only good thing about this place is the staff. Everything else is just a way to take your money. The rooms are small, the futons are uncomfortable and short. They have a terrace, but smoking is prohibited, and there’s only a tiny room where you can’t even sit down to smoke comfortably. A very disappointing place. If you’re staying in Kyoto, look for any other place — it’ll be better. It looks nice visually, but they only offer the bare minimum and try to squeeze money out of you in every possible way. They provide a yukata for you to wear and even ask you to use it, but if you take it with you, they’ll charge you more than it’s worth. Very disappointed with this place.

We stayed here during our honey moon. The place is beautiful and traditional the rooms are big and welcoming. We had a really nice stay, the staff helped us with every request and it was amazing to have the private bath included in our stay.

I chose to stay in this place over 10 years ago for the location, however i keep coming back every year for thier service. What surprises me most is that every year, they just keep getting better and better adding new things to thier pool of services. The staff are so sweet and nice and on multiple occasions they have went above and beyond like for my anniversary celebration with my wife a few days ago. A special thanks to Lin and especially Piere for making me feel just as home. Can't wait to see you guys next year 🤗

Stayed in a half traditional, half western room. Staff were welcoming and professional, an absolutely smooth process when it comes to the staffing. Location is decent, quiet enough neighborhood but a little bit of a walk to transport links. This worked for us but may not be for everyone. The rooms were spacious and well kept, however in need of a little updating. There was a strange smell in the room, eminating from the traditional straw mats I think but not sure. Possibly related to the cleaning agents used. Seemed better when sliding doors were closed overnight. The smell was quite irritating.

Traditional style rooms with tatami mats and futons. Breakfast was by reservation but high quality and nutritious. The onsen was also very relaxing.
